Great service and the pumpernickel bagel was excellent! Egg was soft and delicious. Definitely a great place for cheap and delicious bagel.

Shirley Bagels is busy for a reason! The bagels are absolutely delicious and the perfect way to start a slow, lazy Sunday. We ordered the Nova Lox and the Santa Fe.....both were so good and full of flavor. It honestly set the tone for the rest of the day... a movie and a nap, exactly how Sundays should be. Definitely worth the wait! Will be coming back to try more, so many eye catching items on the menu

If you read my reviews, you can see that I am a bagel expert/snob and I have to tell you Shirley's is every bit as good as the greatly heralded Boil and Bake!! On my way to John Wayne, went by Boil and Bake and completely packed! Went down to Shirley's on 17th and it was packed too! See photos They have two lines, one for pick up for phone and internet orders and the other so we will line is obviously for in-store orders.... Line went surprisingly quickly and got my food surprisingly quickly too! I love how you can see where they boil and bake the bagels right in front of you !! see photo. These are authentic New York style bagels. The boiling gives it the thick and chewy skin that locks in some moisture to keep everything tender inside. Pleasantly surprised that they had pumpernickel so I had one of those double toasted with butter and everything double toasted with butter. The everything had the toppings on the bottom too so full everything bagel experience, whether or not you eat the top or the bottom, this is the right way to do it. Super crusty chewy and full of flavor, literally a perfect bagel! Bagels do not get any better than this, they may be different, but not better. Extra bonus, the unsweetened iced tea was passionfruit? It was excellent.!! I can't recommend a bagel place more highly than I do Shirley's... Next time the cheese or pizza bagel.....

The wait was a lot longer then I expected. Very cute bagel place in Costa Mesa. I ordered a twice toasted bagel with cream cheese on one saide and butter on the other with red onion. I was ok. I don't understand why people don't understand toasted crisp.....anyway, it's better then Einsteins or Bruegers, and filled me up. I did see some unique sandwiches that I will try another time.

Came on a Sunday morning and there were so many people!! It went fairly fast and I think a lot of people go to go because we were able to find some sitting inside. I got the Californian with sausage and it was so yummy! I love how they made the avocado like a thin spread so it was easier to eat.

Great bagel spot! Plenty of small outdoor tables as well and tables inside. Order at a counter and your name is called out to get your order. Bagels were fantastic- lots of great flavors and everything was fresh, including toppings.

Busy place! Sesame bagel with cream cheese was good. The others in my party liked their food also. The inside is clean just not a lot of inside seating and outside not a lot of seating either unless you are a small party. Here vacationing so gave this place a try and it was good.

4th of July Bagel Turkey Avocado

I don't always go to Shirley's but when I do, I usually get the Turkey Avocado. Apparently everyone had the same idea on the 4th of July, so when I arrived there was a long line, but it was hard to tell that it was actually 2 lines - one to order at the counter and one for phone/online pickup. I ended up ordering online because the in person line was pretty long. Once I ordered, it was still a 25-30 min wait so I ran over to Starbucks to get coffee. It's pretty packed inside and the workers don't use a microphone so you really have to be listening for your name which was kind of annoying and it's very cramped inside because it's packed. The sandwich itself was very delicious and filling. Just make sure you have a lot of time to hang out and wait if you visit Shirley's on the weekend or a holiday.

So my mom went to this location a couple days ago, my sister tried filing a complaint about this rotting bagel and they refused to give her a refund or some sort of compensation. She kept calling to get in touch with a higher up but they kept ignoring her calls. Don't go to this location, their food is literally rotting, and their customer service is craps. They also tried denying this a kept saying that it was a jalapeño. How is this a jalapeño ??!????!!!!

When you enter, the location is huge! Tons of tables and seating. Nice! People are working, hanging out, and enjoying their food and drinks. I ordered a churro latte half sweet and a deluxe avocado toast. The latte was delicious. Sweetness level was just right for me. I don't like super sweet drinks. The avocado toast was also great. There was so much flavor from the egg and bacon and seasonings. It was a little hard to eat out of the to go container, but I made it work. It could easily be shared depending how hungry you are. I love that I didn't feel rushed here. It seems they expect people to come and hang out for awhile. Can't wait to return! I'm eyeing the biscuit and a matcha next time.

Inside is a café inspired by natural accents with an industrial flair giving a rustic character with modern style. The vibe inside is chill with plenty of seating for groups or singles. They also have an outdoor area with covered seating surrounded by plants. The menu delivers just as much appeal as the setting. They have an expansive list of coffee, tea, and lattes with several modifiers to choose from. To accompany your drink the menu provides options of sandwiches, bagels, and a variety of pastries. I had the smoked salmon bagel, featuring delicate slices of salmon layered over cream cheese spread, topped with capers and fresh chives. This is my go to for coffee houses that offer it. The bagel exceeded my expectations and I believe the chive's subtle flavor complemented the smoked salmon really well. For drinks we tried the chai and hot chocolate. The iced chai latte was smooth and not too sweet with a dusting of cinnamon on top, but I would rate it average in taste. The hot chocolate was deliciously velvety and detailed beautifully. I would rate it a five out of five! The difference at this coffee shop is that you can choose from a range of seating arrangements and have an opportunity to support the business by picking up clothing, a bag of coffee or other merchandise. The con for this coffee shop is that the beverages are somewhat undersized relative to the price point. In addition, the customer service experience fell short. We were greeted upon entering, but it was unclear where customers should retrieve their order or whether orders numbers were called out. With that said, those looking for a quiet morning coffee or a cozy place to catch up with friends, this spot can accommodate.

We waited outside by the pick-up window after ordering. Service was fast for the doughnut and my coffee, but they seemed to forget about my husband's cold brew, so I had to ask about it after a few minutes of waiting. Not a big deal, just was surprised it took so long when it was such an easy order! We both enjoyed the buttery/salty doughnut, and my coffee was delightful! However, my husband said the cold brew was just okay and it was packed with ice to the point you couldn't stick the straw in the lid. Overall, our first experience at this location was good, and we'll definitely be back to try more of Sidecar's delicious doughnuts! Might pass on the cold brew though!

One thing I thought was really cool was the service. While you're waiting in the drive-thru line, the friendly staff comes out to take your order before you even get to the window, which helps keep the line moving and adds a nice personal touch. I ordered the Bananarama and the Lox & Loaded bagel. The Bananarama is a brown sugar latte with banana sweet cream, and it had a nice smooth coffee flavor with just the slight amount of banana. It was refreshing and tasty but it didn't quite blow me away like I was hoping it would. The Lox & Loaded came on a toasted everything bagel with housemade garden veggie cream cheese, smoked salmon, and sliced red onion. The bagel was fresh, and loaded with plenty of cream cheese and salmon. Everything tasted fresh, and the flavors worked great together, especially with the onion giving it a nice little bite. Overall, I enjoyed both items, but I've definitely had better lox bagels that really impressed me. Same goes for the coffee. It was tasty, but it didn't knock it out of the park for me. Despite being relatively close to two major colleges - OCC and UCI - this place wasn't as crowded as you'd imagine it would be. They serve coffee, matcha, breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, protein bowls, avocado toasts - but I didn't pick anything to eat since I already had lunch. I shared with the barista that it was my first time here, and he asked what type of drink I was looking for. I told him something iced and caffeinated - and he mentioned his favorite was the Honey Cinnamon Latte - which I opted for - iced, with oat milk. Total was $8.50 including tip. My iced Honey Cinnamon Latte was yummy, creamy, and fantastic! With the oat milk substitute, it sorta tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in liquid coffee form. It wasn't overly sweet, definitely had a nice kick to it - love this recommendation by the barista! I checked out the rest of the space and used their restroom to wash my hands - it's really a neat space here. Lots of seating. Lots of space. There's an adjacent room that's connected to the cafe called "Flow Space" - which is utilized for small popups and arts & crafts. Neat spot for smaller community members to showcase their wares. Some of the other reviews mentioned no a/c - which had me worried considering we were having a bit of a heatwave lately - but to my pleasant surprise, A/C was on and cold! It was a great escape from the heat. Free wifi - fast enough for a zoom call if you need to hop into one - my speedtest reported download speeds of 17.5MB/s Restroom is clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking - of course, I stopped by a little after 2pm, so already avoiding the tail end of the lunch rush. Only downside is they close kinda early - 4pm - but open up at 7am. Great spot! Will probably be my go-to considering there's ample workspace, plenty of parking, less crowded than other coffee spots in the immediate area. I'm curious to try their matcha the next time I'm here, as well as possibly their breakfast burritos, since photos for that looks delicious.
