Long overdue review! Love this coffee shop so much. I work a few blocks up and like to pop in when I need to lock in and get some work done with a little caffein. I can usually find a plug and also like the backyard outdoor seating when meeting up with friends. My go to order is a good ole classic latte and their breakfast burrito. The shop is very community oriented and they have lot of fun events and feature local artists often. I respect the hell out of the ownership too. From what I've observed they put their money where their mouth is when it comes to giving back to the community and caring for their neighbors. I love their sunset beach location too and wish I lived/worked closer to it to make it my regular spot. I've lived in the neighborhood walking distance to Neat for 5 years now and cherish it as a wonderful go-to spot for coffee. This year specifically, I've noticed a couple of things that have made my experience go severely downhill. I've visited about five times, expecting to grab my favorite toast of theirs that I've had for years (Pan Con Tomate) and they have been out consistently back to back of that item. I've literally tried 3 separate times and been told they simply ran out of tomatoes. If it's that inconsistent, I'd hope they'd take it off their menu and post it as a special. But what bothers me the most is that the service is so nonchalant that it comes off as rude. No greeting, smile, positive energy.. giving off a vibe that they'd rather be anywhere else than behind the coffee bar. Sad to see the experience decline as it's been a favorite of mine and somewhere i always have hyped up to friends. Hopefully things pick up. read more

Quaint and cozy is the word I'd use to describe this shop. It's the perfect place to just sit and get work done or relax. The drinks were great and I didn't have to wait on them too long. I got a shakerato and a matcha latte and they were both good. You also get a little discount if you're walking, biking, or boarding to the shop and getting something. The only negative I have to say is that I think a cycling club stages from here on the weekend so the parking lot does get busy inside and out. Overall, I'd recommend this place and will return again. read more

Came by on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too packed, but the line moved a little slowly since there were only two people working. Honestly, it was worth the wait. I got the honey cinnamon latte, one of their specialty drinks, and it was easily one of the best lattes I've had in a while. The balance of sweetness and cinnamon was perfect without being overpowering. The shop itself is really nice inside with plenty of seating. I could definitely see myself bringing my laptop and spending a few hours studying or working here. The only downside is the parking situation. There are only about eight parking spots right in front, so it feels a bit limited. That said, I didn't have any trouble finding a spot during my visit. read more

The Neat One with housemade vanilla syrup: 3/5. This was an ok iced latte. Kinda milky, almost bland, but I did taste a subtle vanilla flavor. It wasn't super sweet, though I would've enjoyed it more if it had more flavored syrup and/or a stronger coffee presence. The barista who took my order was chipper and patient. Since straws were apparently behind the counter since they haven't gotten around to restocking the self-service area, I requested one for my iced latte. Those straws weren't individually wrapped, so it grossed me out when the barista handed one to me with her bare hands. It's a cute shop with minimalist, modern vibes. Barely any parking there, so we parked a block away and walked over to its little nook. They also sell a variety of roasted beans, and we liked the Pantan Sinaku Indonesia beans from Dune Coffee Roasters. If I were to come back, I'd try the Shakerato, as it seems to be consistently crowd-pleasing. read more

Stopped by while I was in the area for the DMV. Neat was a quick 3 minute walk down the alleyway and is tucked into a small parking lot. Once inside, the space was fairly open and there was a fair amount of seating, but most tables we're full when I arrived Everybody behind the counter was super friendly and I got my order really quickly. My cold almond milk latte was good and rich. It had a bit of an acidic finish probably from the beans that were used. read more

Kinda like shepherds bread with crunchy thick crust and doughy chewy middle. The big pieces of what looked like sea salt was just right with a drizzle of olive oil on top. Our server's name was Grace, and she was so kind. All the people working here are kind. There is a good amount of seating inside to study. It may be a bit harder to find outlets, but just be ready to rotate around tables if need be. I appreciated the aesthetics that were all so seamlessly put together to present a Neat Cafe experience. We are here working all the time they have really great Wi-Fi coffee and vibes. Their shakerato is my favorite drink. It's not too sweet and the caffeine level is just right. I've also tried their strawberry Matcha- incredible. A tip - If you want something less carb heavy ask for their burrito as a burrito bowl which comes without the tortilla and if you like spice get the spicy aïoli - that sauce is to die for! they have a cute little patio area as well and the space while it seems small fits a lot of people the only major con about this place is that the parking lot fits may be only eight or 10 cars total so be prepared to walk and park and find street parking if you come at very busy times read more

My first impression of the cafe was that it looks and feels like a quaint house. When I walked in, it felt like I was in a house from a coming of age movie. The baristas were very kind and welcoming. I saw lots of seating and also peeped seating outside as I looked for the bathroom. The bathroom was very clean and beautifully decorated, which I really appreciate in a coffee shop. :) I ordered the rosemary caramel latte hot and a morning roll. I closed my eyes for the first sip and was so happy about how smooth the foam was. The rosemary flavor came through first, then it was softened by the sweetness of the caramel. It paired very nicely with the slight orange flavor of the morning bun. I am usually a sipper but I drank it quite quickly, which is usually a good indicator that I absolutely love the drink. I was tempted to stay for longer, but had to go because the parking lot has 5 minute spots. I will definitely be back for more! :) read more

If you're looking for good coffee, this is a great place. However, I am super big on first impressions and this one didn't hit the spot. I came here with a friend to work on a project. Upon arrival, there was a little to no line at the register. My friend and I hopped in line and waited about 10 minutes for the barista to finish a conversation that she was having with the person in front of us who seemed to be her friend. As someone that's big into customer service, I believe that serving your customers and making sure they're not having to wait is a huge priority. As soon as our order was taken, we got our coffee quickly and we're able to work on our project using the coffee shops Wi-Fi. They had plenty of tables and room for us to sit and set up. Their bathrooms were kept clean and organized. Overall, this is a good coffee shop just maybe not the best experience. read more

They also have a few seats in the back for those willing to sit in the sun The only negative is that there aren't too many electrical ports if you're looking to charge up. Neat's drink menu is creative and fresh, with a number of unique seasonal creations. I personally loved the Shakerato, which comes with maple, sea salt, oat milk, and topped with espresso. They also offer food and pastries. The avocado toast I tried was delicious and served on thick sourdough bread. Just bring a charged laptop if you plan to stay a while. read more

Interesting coffee drink selection here! I got the Baker Street (hot) and it was the perfect sweetness - tasted like a Golden latte with a shot of espresso. Hubby got the PB Cookie (iced) and that tasted great too. The inside area is a little small and there wasn't any free tables when we arrived (around 1pm) but there was plenty of seating on the patio (dog friendly). The parking lot is tiny and a few spots are 5 min parking only but we parked a few min walk away on the residential street. They have free wifi too but I can't speak to the quality cause I was just there to read but a few folks had their computers out and there are two tables inside with outlets but both were occupied when we were there (Saturday afternoon). read more

Cute little hidden gem in Costa Mesa! It was busy with tons of people working on their laptops and friends gathering for a morning coffee date. The service was fast and very welcoming. I ordered the Iced Matcha Latte with Vanilla. It was good overall, however I could have used a bit more Vanilla because I am not sure if I even tasted it in my drink to be honest. The Matcha itself I don't feel I got enough Matcha flavoring as I usually like but that's more of a preference on my part. I saw a couple other drinks I'm interested in trying but my go to at any coffee shop is to try their Matcha. Definitely will be back to try more drinks and more specifically their coffee selection. read more
