Ordering Counter, bar and other seating options indoors

Such an adorable spot! Visiting Moongoat Coffee Roasters honestly felt like I was on vacation. The beautiful plants, open-air space, and tons of seating made it such a relaxing place to hang out. The Brunch Biscuits Benedict was delicious! I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the coffee. Love that they offer takeout too. Parking was super easy, and I'd definitely recommend grabbing your drink to-go and heading somewhere scenic by the beach to enjoy it!

The food here was warm and exactly as described. Seasonal drinks, we got the iced lavender blueberry matcha. I also tried the iced churro latte. Staff was fantastic, friendly and efficient They have indoor and outdoor seating. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4.8/5

Stumbled upon this hip and chic coffee house as I had business in the area. Inside is definitely built for studying, working, and quiet collaboration. Everything from the indoor/outdoor seating, communal tables, and "bar" seating. Very nice decor. Didn't even have to deal with a Barista or customer service (Although everyone did seem nice and accommodating) as they have self-serve check point of sale in addition to talking directly. The cold brew was acidic and fruity. Very refreshing. I always like to get a cold brew and pour over to judge a place, and coffee alone, I do think this place is great. They were out of the "recommended on Yelp" avocado toast, so I settled for a BEC on an everything bagel. While it was fresh, and hot, with great cuts of bacon and real egg... this fell a bit short for me. The ingredients were just too small for the bagel. Needed a bit more arugula. It was good, and I wouldn't mind paying $10 for it... just not $13. I would definitely come in here for coffee again... maybe even give the avocado toast a shot, if they have it.

Since moving to OC, I've been looking for a regular coffee shop with an atmosphere perfect for studying, doing work on my laptop, or even reading/journaling in the wild. Safe to say MoonGoat may be one of my top cafe contenders! Although parking is very limited (the lot fills up quick), the actual cafe environment is very open with lots of seating available either inside or outside. I stopped by on a weeknight and wasn't surprised to see the place bustling especially with the proximity of nearby colleges. I was able to find a seat outside, but there wasn't an outlet for me to charge my laptop at. Food-wise, I ended up ordering a flat white and a breakfast bagel sandwich. The flat white was really good. The coffee wasn't bitter at all. The breakfast bagel sandwich was okay. Nothing special but I was so hungry in the moment that it didn't matter. I know MoonGoat is a chain, but I really did like this location and can see myself coming back.

Really good espresso with a nice balance of sweetness! I added vanilla syrup to my coffee, and it wasn't overpowering at all -- it blended really well with the espresso. I ordered a large, and it came with four shots, which was a great bonus. Drinks are priced around $6-8, depending on the size and any customizations you choose. Definitely worth it for the quality! The space was really nice too -- plenty of areas to study or just sit and chat. Great atmosphere overall!

    Matcha Latte with Honey

I came to MoonGoat Coffee Roasters for the first time after I got off work. I arrived around 5 pm, and there were still plenty of tables and seats to take up. The interior is very cozily lit, and they have a nice bit of music going on as well. I placed my order with the barista, and within a few minutes, I got a hot matcha latte with a cute little swan foam design on the top. The matcha was nice warm and foamy, and filled to the brim of the cup. I took a spot at one of the high stool countertops, which yes, did have a lovely outlet that I used to plug in my laptop and soon got to work. The wifi code was written on the receipt, so if you do want to get some work done without using a hotspot you will have to purchase something. They had an outdoor area, as well if you enjoy a nice breeze better. I think I would have gotten my matcha just a bit sweeter, but other than that, great experience here!

I sound like a hater, but I was surprised to like this place. Initially, I was skeptical of a place that refers to a hojicha drink as a toasted matcha, because a hojicha is a roasted green tea, and matcha and hojicha are different types of green teas rather than being a subset of one another. It definitely made me reluctant to try their matcha or hojicha but I wanted to give their coffees a try. Protein churros latte: 8.5/10. I like this drink a lot because it's a high protein option. It uses Nurri and I really like Nurri. It's not too sweet, which is a plus. I don't think it tastes much like a churros because the espresso really overpowers the flavor, but it's still good. It seems to sell out sometimes later in the day. It's a very expensive drink, though. Ham and cheese croissant: 8/10. This is good. It was very warm and it's easy to get full on it. It is a little expensive, though. It's a wide and open space which is really nice. The people there are also friendly. Parking is free but it's a bit small.

During multiple visits, the coffee they serve is lukewarm; at best. They need to educate themselves that coffee should be served at around 150°-170. This time we brought a device to measure the temperature. It was 90°. You could literally gulp the entire cup of coffee instantly as soon as they serve it to you without any discomfort. God knows how long the coffee has been sitting in one of those metal containers before they serve it. Starbucks is literally brewed fresh each cup to order now.

Great place to chill over some great coffee and breakfast items. Staff are very nice and helpful. Pastries including the kouign amann are great, the breakfast sandwich is fire. Ample parking and good vibes

    Avocado Toast Deluxe

Today I tried the Avocado Toast Deluxe ($14) and it was so good, full of flavor in every bite. I'll definitely get it again. The Ham and Cheese Croissant ($10) though wasn't really worth the price. It didn't fill me up much and I kind of wish it came with a small side, that would make it feel more complete. The service is pretty good. The employees take your order, bring out your food and drinks, and clean up after you eat. The space itself is warm and welcoming, but it does get pretty hot since there's no AC, just open doors and windows. After sitting here for about three hours, the heat really started to get to me and my friends. Some air conditioning would make a big difference. The wifi is only for paying customers and the password changes daily, which I think is actually a smart idea. I don't mind it at all because everything I've had so far has been really good.

    Brunch Benedict

A decent spot for brunch in the Costa Mesa area. The majority of their parking lot is 10min parking, but they do have a complimentary valet option available. We opted to park down the street and walk over. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. You order food at the counter and they bring it out to you once you've been seated. The service was okay at best, very quick and dry. The drinks were okay as well. The banana matcha had good banana flavor, but you couldn't taste the matcha. The matcha latte with strawberry had no matcha flavor and tasted like a cup of plain oat milk. I would definitely skip those next time. The food actually exceeded expectations on taste. They were plated very well and were very well balanced flavor wise. One of the eggs on the Benedict had popped prior to it being given too us, but it still tasted good. The biscuits underneath were fluffy and soft. The avocado toast was a perfect savory breakfast and was more filling than I thought it would be. I enjoyed it a lot until I found not 1, but 2 hairs in the dish. I didn't find them until towards the end of the meal and it made a very good meal end on a disappointing note.

I met some friends here for a drink to catch-up. I had never been here so didn't know what to expect. MoonGoat has a young hipster vibe. The seating area is very open and you can see many people sipping coffee while working on their laptop. The staff was super friendly and helped me choose a drink since I'm not a coffee drinker and can't drink a lot of caffeine. They recommended the hojicha latte (toasted matcha latte) and I substituted the milk with almond milk to make it dairy free. I got it iced because it was such a hot day! The latte was made using an instant powder mix and shaken with water and ice. The flavor of the latte was decent and it was slightly sweet due to the almond milk. If normal milk was used, I would expect there would be no sweetness at all to the product. The issue I had with the latte was the texture. It has a gritty mouthfeel which is not what I like in a tea. I'm not sure if it was undissolved powder or from the almond milk. It probably would've been better to get this as a hot drink. The parking lot was very challenging, not too many open spots. But the vibe inside the coffee shop is nice and people are friendly.

    Sea salt cold brew
    Hailey F.

I really love their menu. We tried the iced mocha, iced strawberry latte, iced strawberry matcha, and the sea-salt cold brew. Everyone was happy with their drinks, and service was quick. I want to try their churros latte next time. They have a good amount of seating both indoors and outdoors. Although it's usually crowded, I enjoy the ambiance. Parking can be tricky, so valet is your best bet, so just be prepared for that.

I've been to other locations of Moongoat Coffee Roasters, and I continue to be a fan of the brand…read morebut this location was slightly less satisfying than the products I had at their other locations. The location has plenty of parking and plenty of seating. There is an outdoor patio, and inside there is a first floor seating area, and a second floor seating area. The interior had high ceilings and modern practical decor. Staff will take your order at the cashier, but they also have a kiosk if you want to avoid human interaction. I was here for a few hours, so I started off with a hot beverage since I saw that they have mug service. I had the hot Churro Latte ($8.15/large) and I was warned it's a bit sweet so staff suggested that I get it less sweet. I appreciated the gesture but maybe that's why I didn't taste too much of the churro flavor. It tasted like a good regular latte but maybe they held back on the caramel and cinnamon to the point I couldn't detect it. Seating is first come first serve. It was actually really busy and difficult to find an ideal spot. Since I was alone I sat at a high top ledge, strategically near an outlet. From what I saw, they had a really good amount of outlets in the indoor seating area. Later on I went back and ordered an iced Blueberry Lavender Matcha with Cold Foam ($9.25/large) and a Deluxe Avocado Toast ($15) which comes with egg, bacon, and herb oil. I like that this location serves the avocado toast with a knife and fork cause it was much needed. It was a bit on the wet side. Maybe I should ask for light herb oil next time. For how much this avocado toast cost, I would have liked more avocado. The avocado was more of a spread, not whole slices of avocado. Still good, just an observation. The blueberry lavender matcha was okay. I could taste the lavender but it was overpowering the matcha and the blueberry was hard to detect at all. Honestly the location and plentiful seatings is what stood out most from this experience. I would consider coming back since I know their products are good from trying their other locations but I wouldn't get the drinks I ordered this time. For how expensive coming here was, I wish I was a little more satisfied.

I remember trying to go here a while back ago when it blew up on TikTok but ended up not sticking…read morearound because it was so crowded (and also because I got harassed by a neighbor outside who, in his own words, was trying to make people feel not welcome here because he was angry about people coming in and parking in the neighborhood... weird). Still, I decided to give this place a second chance (no angry neighbor this time), and I was glad I did! PARKING: There's street parking around the neighborhood - I parked on Almond Ave so I wasn't in front of a house. The spots right outside the shop were 30 minute only. If you can't find parking there's probably tons as you go east if you're willing to walk. WHAT I ORDERED: Pistachio cream cold brew THE DRINK: Amazing. I've had my share of acidic or bitter cold brews, and this was not one of them. The cream was perfectly sweetened and flavored . SERVICE: Exceeded my expectations. The baristas when I came in were very bubbly and answered my questions and gave me suggestions, and were funny too! I wish I got their names, but they were working on Monday early afternoon - I hope they get some recognition. We also got some samples of the food items (which may have swayed me to get the turkey panini next time I come in). Even with the experience I had above a while back ago, I remember going in to let the baristas know and they were very understanding and apologetic, which I really appreciated. VIBES: Probably one of the top coffee shops to get work done in OC. Here's my work-from-coffee-shop checklist: * OUTLETS: So many. Not at the tables downstairs but in the private rooms and at a lot of the seating upstairs. * WIFI/INTERNET: Yes, good speed * BATHROOMS: Yes, clean * WATER: You can ask for free water * VOLUME: Music was a little bit loud but not terrible * SEATING AVAILABILITY: Lotsssss of seats when I came on a Monday late morning-afternoon. Very cool that there were private rooms (which can be reserved two hours in advance if you call them), tables, bar-style seating upstairs, and most importantly, comfy couches!! * LAPTOP FRIENDLINESS: No restrictions BOTTOM LINE: I can't believe I almost missed out on this gem. I'll be back soon!

Food/Drinks: matcha…read morelatte - not the richest matcha taste or quality and when i got it with oat milk, the oat milk flavor ended up overpowering the matcha a bit. although, it wasn't bad it was still decent to sip on while working! iced caramel macchiato - on the sweeter end of drinks and if you get oat milk it will overpower the taste a bit but still a decent drink banana cream matcha latte - has the creamy texture from the banana cream and surprisingly the banana didn't have a strong artificial banana taste. to me, that's a little rare and in a good way. the matcha isn't a strong matcha taste but still present avocado toast with egg - it was plated and presented nicely which i was kinda surprised about. it tasted decent. the bread is on the softer/soggier end rather than the crispy and toasted end. the sauce and radish overpowers the taste. i got a runny sunny side egg and it was a nice addition for me. service: this spot has one of the nicest helpful service. i was here for a few hours working and despite shift changes, each new staff who was working were so nice and helpful! ambiance: it's such a bright and spacious spot with a few study rooms and many seating. it's bright and has a cozy wooden feel. i love that there are many outlets and it's not overcrowded or too loud. it was the perfect spot to work at!
