I also ordered the golden hour grey, which was the seasonal flavor, and it was really unique. It was citrusy and light. Sidecar is definitely in it's own league and its tough to find other donuts to really compete with them. Sidecar Doughnuts and Coffee is located in a small strip mall. The parking lot in this part of the strip mall is pretty narrow, so be careful when parking. It was very busy when I arrived around 11am on a Saturday morning. There have a few tables out front which were all occupied. There were also quite a few people just hanging around in front of the shop chatting while eating their donuts. I went inside so I could see what was available, but they do have an outdoor window for ordering if you know what you want ahead of time. This is definitely the nicest donut shop I have ever been in. The display cases are attractive, and have nice wood paneling in front of them. Dark ceilings, cool light fixtures, and overall nice décor give it a classy feel. It is pretty small inside though, and it was so crowded I couldn't take a picture. Most of their donuts are not your garden variety types with names such as White Chocolate Banana Bread, Saigon Cinnamon Crumb, and Apple Pan Pie. When I first walked in, I could see they were out of a few flavors, but fresh ones were put in the display shortly after. They apparently make them fresh all day long in small batches. I picked a few donuts and proceeded to the register. Even though I only purchased two donuts, they still packaged them up in a real nice custom printed box. White Chocolate Banana Bread ($6.50) - Two of my favorite things, banana bread and white chocolate. The donut was still very noticeably warm, and had the freshest, most delicious banana bread flavor. The chocolate chips give it an extra little sweetness. The white chocolate glaze on top is just enough to be there, and not make it a sugar bomb. And the walnuts on top give it a little crunch. These are not large donuts, but they are pretty decadent. I was pretty satisfied after just one, and waited ten minutes before having the second donut. Strawberry Buttermilk ($5.00) - It was actually still a little warm, even though it was boxed almost fifteen minutes earlier. It was a great strawberry cake donut that was equally fresh and decadent. The chopped fresh strawberries inside give an extra burst of flavor with each bite. I was just out running errands on an empty stomach, and looked for the nearest donut shop. I just happened to stumble across the best donuts I've probably ever had. They are not cheap at $4.75 to $6.50 per donut, but after you have them, you realize the price is pretty justified. read more

I was craving donuts and have always wanted to dry Sidecar Doughnuts and Coffee, so I decided to place an online order for pickup. I placed an order for 6 donuts and it told me a pickup time of 30 minutes after I ordered. We were a few minutes late and got to the store past our pickup time. The storefront is small and only has space to display the donuts and to order. Once we got inside, we waited by the pickup area and it took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge us even though they had a lot of workers at the front and they weren't all occupied with something. Once someone finally asked us if we were here for pickup, I let them know my name for the order and they didn't see it ready so they went to check on it. They asked what my pickup time was and it was already ten minutes past that time. It turned out that they accidentally gave my order away to someone else, which is weird that they don't verify information before giving someone a pickup order. It took a few more minutes for them to get my order ready again. The worker just said sorry quickly and put my order on the shelf for me to grab instead of giving it to me and left right away, so I'm pretty disappointed with their service. I love coming to Sidecar Doughnuts early in the morning when their doughnuts are usually warm. Their cake doughnuts have crispy edges and a moist center that isn't dry or crumbly. I'm not a huge fan of their malasada doughnuts. They are chewy and not warm. I do love their Prosciutto Benedict doughnut, however, which uses their malasada doughnut as a base. My favorite flavors here are the Huckleberry and Choc-A-Lot. Occasionally, they have limited-time flavors I enjoy such as the Jalapeño Honey Corncake, which I wish had more jalapeños mixed in the batter. They recently had a PB&J malasada doughnut that I liked, but I wish it actually had the peanut butter inside and not just glazed on top. Service is always friendly at this location.
