Shoutout to Gary and the Duck Donuts team! I usually order Duck Donuts for team meetings on EZ Cater, maybe 3 dozen max at a time with 1-2 coffee buckets. I recently had a very large order and did 45 dozen (540 pieces!!) directly with the store. Gary was very quick to respond and helpful with the flavor reccs/modifications. We did: glazed, french toast, chocolate with chocolate sprinkles, chocolate covered strawberry, strawberry w rainbow sprinkles, and vanilla chocolate swirl. Day of, Gary was on time with the delivery (even with my last minute time change due to another delivery). Everything was accurate, fresh and carefully packaged. Duck donuts was such a hit! I was really disappointed with my experience at Duck Donuts. The donuts were soggy, and the icing wasn't even close to the flavor that was advertised. I ordered the coffee cake donut expecting a coffee cake flavor, but it was covered with a white powder and powdered sugar that didn't resemble what was advertised at all. The chocolate donut wasn't any better. It tasted like it was made with cheap, overly sweet ingredients, almost like high-fructose corn syrup. Neither donut tasted good or of high quality. To make matters worse, I ended up with a slightly upset stomach afterward. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the price. I won't be coming back. read more

Stopped here to grab some ice cream from chocolate shoppe ice cream and while the ice cream tasted great the experience was pretty horrible. When I searched on Google for ice cream near me- chocolate shoppe ice cream popped up then upon looking further I realized it was sold within duck donuts. Still ventured to try it Two guys working, one said he was new, and didn't know where all the flavors were / allowed us to try some b4 we ordered but was a pain bc the flavors were spread between two freezers in front of store and whatever was in the back. Placed an order for 3 double scoop cups (all they had) and took a really long time to make them having to figure out where the flavors were between the front and back of store. Then. They didn't have lids to cover them or a bag to put them in - so we literally covered each cup with another cup and put in a box I had from Costco in my trunk to get them home without dripping everywhere in my car. And I say dripping everywhere bc by the time he finished the last cup/. The others were melted from taking so long. They should probably just stick to donuts if they can't fully support the ice cream products. If I knew now/ I wouldn't have chosen to try there for ice cream. Very unfortunate, bc we probably would have loved the ice cream - but the experience clearly trumped the product. read more

Duck donuts didn't do it for me. Dropped in after eating at the food court next door. While eating I noticed a couple eating donuts nearby. That sounds good to me. Duck Donuts is a place in a strip mall near the airport in Orange County. They advertise they are different because they make their donuts fresh and made to order for you. You design your own donut and they make it fresh for you. What a great idea! I decided to give it a try. I was a little concerned when I noticed their fryer was smoking a bit and there was a smoky oil smell in their store. The young server was very friendly and asked me to wait five minutes while he makes my delicious home made donut What he gave me looked like someone had stepped on a small donut?? Please look carefully at my pictures for photographic evidence of what they gave me. I bit into it and spit it out. It was an uncooked circle of dough drenched in days old oil. It was the worst donut I have ever seen or tasted. I brought it back immediately and gave it to the server and told him it was horrid, the worst I had every tasted. He said he was sorry but the person who knows how to change the oil and work the fryer correctly was out because of a family emergency. Okay, I understand, things happen in every business. You shut down, fix the problem, and open back up with things running smoothly. This place gets one star because they attempted to fool me that everything was fine when it was not. I left with no refund, no new donut, but hungry and $4.00 less in my wallet. He told me there was no way he could refund me. Super cute place, and I love the duck theme! I got the blueberry streusel donut which comes with blueberry icing and a streusel topping. They served it warm and it was a great sweet treat! Swung by today for a sweet treat after seeing all the reviews, but unfortunately this place may be too overhyped. Duck Donuts is located next to Trade Food Hall in the rear corner of the plaza. The shop is cute and very on brand with the amount of rubber ducks that make up the place. Staff were friendly and quick to make our donuts. I got a strawberry confetti and maple glazed donut. The donuts were warm and fresh, however I wasn't a fan of the consistency (it was close to being mushy as the donut kind of fell apart as picked it up for a bite) or the aftertaste of the glaze. There's so many great donut shops in the OC to compete with that I'm not sure this place is worth going out of my way to visit. However, I was a bit disappointed because I had thought (from seeing other post) that purchasing a dozen donuts might come with one of the regular "small" yellow duck as a novelty item. I think the worker said they have "free ducks" once a year there's promo day for it. I understand promotions may vary, but I was expecting that small extra touch to go with the name and was hoping for encouraging folks buying a dozen or two order. :(( And yes, while the donuts themselves were enjoyable, I did find the specialty donuts to be a tad expensive compared to what I anticipated. Duck Donuts is a small donut shop located outside an Irvine plaza with a decently sized food area. I'm not much of a donut person myself, but this is probably the best place I've gone to that had them. The variety is huge and they're pretty much ready to get once you order them. Both the donuts I had were amazing, and to me, that means a lot just because I typically have criticism against donuts I try. They were genuinely just good and not too much, just the right amount for what they're worth. I loved the sugar donut the most out of these 2 and would come back to try more. The ladies working here are so nice and patient! Beware they prepare custom, made to order donuts so either preorder or wait if you order more than one. A new customer stopped by to order 3 assorted dozens and had to leave when quoted 40 minutes. Donut texture isn't the typical raised, it's more of a crispy golden cake donut dipped and drizzled to perfection. I ended up changing my mind last minute but was happy with my order. Overall a good donut. If you are crazing something sweet in the shape of a circle this is a good option. I don't think this place is special or better than some other donut shops, but it's still a good donut if you're hungry for it. I'm really not sure where all the high reviews are coming from. This was my first time coming here in many years. I had tried it once before a long time ago, and I don't remember the donuts tasting this bad. After taking a bite, I literally had to tell my body, "I'm so sorry for mistreating you this way." What happened to the taste of a good old-fashioned, old-school doughnut? These tasted artificial, loaded with coloring, and just plain nasty. I only ate about half of one, then took a bite from each of the others just to see if maybe it was only that one. Unfortunately, they all tasted bad, so I threw them away. I know this place is supposed to be a specialty donut shop, but I think it's important to get the flavor right before creating all the fancy varieties. The shop itself is a small takeout place with super cute rubber ducks lining the interior. I got a half dozen donuts, and they were absolutely delicious. I am absolutely not surprised by the amazing reviews for this place. I was looking at multiple donut shops one day looking for a place nearby to try and not only was it conveniently by me, but these are possibly the greatest donuts I have ever had. When you go into duck donuts it's a small shop and at first I was surprised thinking where are the donuts. Here's the thing, these donuts are fresh, like made after ordering so you get a completely fresh, amazing, and delicious donut after ordering. The donuts were so warm and the fillings they choose are superior! Service was also amazing and the experience was awesome with the staff making recommendations and explaining their menu selection to us. Overall, these would be really great for a staff appreciation event, family gathering, friends gathering, or just yourself to enjoy. The store is so cute, with walls filled with rubber ducks! Custom Donut: The store owner said that since they were closing, he just made my friend and I an extra donut.
