apple fritter
Chloe L.

Best apple fritters I've had in a long time! $4 for very large and heavy fritters, I would say it's worth its size. Very crunchy and sweet in every bite. I've also tried the old fashioned but the apply fritter definitely takes #1 spot for me.

Mags Donuts is a reliable and enjoyable spot located in the Quail Hill Plaza. The value for what you get is good and the donuts are always fresh with consistently good quality. My favorites are the chocolate donut and the donut holes which are both simple and well made. My favorite drink here is the Vietnamese iced coffee which I would recommend if you need a strong caffeine boost. Their matcha is okay, not the highlight but still drinkable. The croissants are also pretty good. I have had the ham and cheese warmed up a few times and it is filling and comforting, especially in the morning. The interior is always clean and presentable and the staff are friendly which adds to the overall experience. There is plenty of parking in the plaza making it easy to stop by anytime.

Dozen sorted donuts

I was on my way to a meeting, but in true southern form, I couldn't show up empty handed. Fortunately, I saw this location on my way and figured: what's better than a sorted dozen of delicious donuts!? Mag's donuts hit the spot! The shop itself is small, but cozy, with cute wall artwork and outdoor sitting. Their selection and different types of donuts was outstanding. Although I would've loved to get one of each... a sorted dozen did the trick. Stop by and get a treat if you're in the area, definitely worth the trip.

Delicious donuts with that classic, no-frills charm. Everything's fresh, and fluffy. Picking what you want can be tricky though as there are no names or prices in the display case, so you have to scan the menu on the wall and hope for the best. That said, the staff is helpful if you ask, and the donuts are worth the minor confusion. Great local spot! Easy and ample parking available.

Came be because I had an appointment at Perspire Sauna a few doors down, and stopped in for a quick treat beforehand. I ordered a pistachio donut which was very tasty and pretty large in size. The service was nothing outta this world, but the cashier was nice enough. Inside the place is cute, nowhere to sit but plenty of outdoor dining available. However, I give it 3 stars because my ONE donut was $4.50. I had planned to get a few to bring home, but their prices totally threw me off. I understand there are 'premium' donuts, but this was a bit of a stretch for me. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for more than one donut.

Everything bagel with chive cream cheese

This Place hit the spot .. I got the Maple bacon and I got me a everything bagel with chive cream cheese .. bacon was nice and crispy and warm , the bagel was healthy in size with the right amount of cream cheese . The menu looked good as well overall . Would come back

This was expensive for 10 donuts for Too good to go. Other donut stores give a dozen donuts and cost less.

Custard & Strawberry Cronut

Food is delicious and fresh as always! It's an amazing breakfast spot with outdoor seating but not on the inside. The service is always friendly and professional as well. The reasoning for the 4 and not 5 stars is due to missing items in orders. I'm not sure if the online ordering is glitchy with the in store system but there seems to be an issue where not all items are being relayed, even after paying for them. Overall amazing just a few quirks.

Breakfast Burrito

Not gonna lie--this is hands down the best breakfast burrito I've ever had from a donut shop. Mag's Donuts in Irvine serves an incredible burrito packed with bacon, Italian sausage, turkey, hash browns, eggs, and cheese. It's freshly made and usually ready in under 15 minutes. Thanks for being the go-to breakfast spot in the Quail Hill Shopping Center!

My mom and I stopped here after lunch and split a gigantic apple fritter. As apple fritters go, it was great: crispy, plenty of apple stuffed into it, the right amount of sweetness, a perfect glaze. The store has a lot of other indulgent options such as donuts that I'll try on another visit. The woman who served us was friendly. There's a nice outdoor seating area where my mom and I enjoyed apple fritter.

Iced Latte
Danielle S.

I really enjoyed Mags Donuts. The strawberry and custard cronut was delicious! The custard was creamy and went well with the flaky cronut. It is messy but worth it. The coffee is ok. Not bad, nothing great. The coffee goes well with the donuts which is really the main reason to go here. Definitely worth a visit.

I had expected the business to be in a more high volume area, however a benefit of their corner spot was that the parking lot had plenty of spaces. There's no indoor seating, but outdoor tables were set up along the north and east perimeters of the building. I was by myself at this latest visit, and it was close to the end of the day so the inventory was quite depleted. There was no line at all which was not a surprise. The famous Strawberry Croissants and prepackaged items were on refrigerated display to the left when you walked in. As the service counter rounded a corner, there were more fresh baked goods on display before you reached a register. Across from the registers were shelves containing bags of fresh bread products. I bought a Strawberry Croissant, a Sticky Bun, a Ham and Cheese Croissant, and an Apple Croissant. The quality of the pastry dough was very good, and I could see why the Strawberry Croissant was a favorite with the customers. The croissants were light and flakey, and the powdered sugar added a delicate topping to the strawberry version. If I were to rate on just the Strawberry Croissant, then it would be five stars. My overall rating was downgraded because of the customer traffic flow. The lines can be optimized so that if you wanted to buy a six-pack of the Strawberry Croissants and/or anything prepackaged, then a separate queue should be arranged for those customers. The cafeteria trays were of limited use if you were not getting a large number of items. As you advanced in the queue, other products had to be requested from a worker behind the counter and then those were not placed on the tray. Ultimately, I think they can configure the operation to more efficiently handle the higher volume periods of the day.

This location is much closer to home, so I visited one afternoon when craving their cookies. The interior is modern, classy-bougie, with 4 tables and a large cushy chair. I ordered two cookies, the chocolate chip walnut and peanut butter chocolate, along with an iced horchata latte. I sat at one of the tables, opened the box my cookies were presented in, and found myself in cookie ecstasy. The cookies are fat mountains of deliciousness. Slightly crisp outside and soft inside (note: even softer if taken home and warmed up). The chocolate chip was crammed full of chips and the walnuts were in tiny bits to keep the cookie's texture soft. The chocolate cookie was also enormous and had an abundance of peanut butter chips. Both were superb. The horchata latte had just enough ice to keep it cold. It had a bold flavor of cinnamon which I loved. Staff here were friendly, efficient, and speedy. I like the vibe of this place but like their cookies even more.

Only recently was I able to visit and try their croffles and other sweets. Did NOT know that this was inside the H Mart food court in Diamond Jamboree. Parking is horrendous and the driving there is horrendous as well. Probably the easiest and least horrifying option just to automatically default to is to just park in the overflow lot right next to the plaza. There's no indicator for the parking garage so on a particularly busy day, you can head all the way to the top, find nothing and navigate through the hell crowds trying to leave. Ambiance is a very casual, counter order business in the food court. There's seating there, but we ate really close by. Definitely something you have to eat immediately or the texture will not be optimal or it might get soggy. We got the tiramisu croffle and they toasted it and put it together for us there. The lady working there packed it up nicely in a to go box and we got some cookies (regular ones and almond crisp ones). It's a bit sweet, but they're dessert pastries so that makes sense. Goes great with a brewed cup of tea. Croffle had a nice semi-chewy texture and the tiramisu flavor added a bit of a coffee taste to it. Good balance of the cream and croffle. The cookie wasn't too bad either. Overall not a bad to go dessert spot.

We had breakfast - an omelette, some bacon and lamb sausage, potatoes, and a cappuccino. we also had some pastries. All excellently prepared. We're going to try something else besides the omelette next time...it was OK but not "out of the park" so we'll try something else next week. Service - after we ordered at the counter our food was delivered to the table which are all located outside on a well-shaded patio. We always split our dishes - my wife and I can't eat an entire plate of food. It's not "table service" - they don't come back and check you or help with water or drinks, etc. Whatever you want you must return to the counter. But service at the counter is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is an outdoor cafe....noisy neighbors, wind when it blows, dogs, all the regular stuff - good seating and umbrellas with some areas naturally shaded...lots of tables relative to the size of the shop. Very friendly staff. Why do my reviews get over 1,000 views every time we visit a new place? We don't know but it seems consistent. We feature very critical reviews - we rate high but include serious critiques. Maybe that's it.

As for the pastries/desserts, the custard pudding cup deserves more love!
