Black sesame coconut pudding
Helen L.

Saw Duke Bakery on Too Good To Go and decided to try them out. It came with 6 different baked bread/pastry items. I tried a couple different ones and they were delicious - nice and fluffy, not too sweet (for those that had a sweet filling). While there, I decided to try their black sesame coconut pudding. I love black sesame and I love coconut pudding, but the two combined is a pass for me, I give it a 6/10. I'd go back to try other items.

I've been going to Dukes since Covid. They have a lot of different types of breads that it is overwhelming. However, don't fret because they offer so many samples that you can literally go in there and try all the breads. My favorite is the cream cheese cranberry bread. The breads are actually quite large and they are reasonably priced. You could eat them over several days. I'm not sure how they bake their breads, but the texture is very uniquely soft yet chewy. it's very different and very good. The space is small, so if a lot of people come in at one time, the shop can feel squishy. They also offer coconut pudding. Casual. Parking can be difficult during peak hours. Good service. Please come and create your own experience.

I was in the area today and I decided to try this bakery. It's located in the same plaza where I usually have my nails done so yeah, why not try something new for me. Bought a few different kind of breads. One thing I noticed was the size -- they were huge! Definitely larger than average. The bread selection was okay, enough for my enjoyment. The service was good - friendly staff.

Stopped by here on a whim to get some bread. Grabbed a random assortment to try and was pleasantly surprised at how big they were. Depending on what you get, some of the bread was soft and airy and others were more dense but none of them were dry. To me, the prices are a little higher, but the bread is also a bit bigger as well so I guess it evens out in the end.

Angel taro and garlic parmesan

My favorite OC bakery when it comes to Asian pastries. Quick in and out, minimal line. Their breads are monstrous in size and fluffy. Not too sweet and run about $5-6 each. The must try items are the garlic parmesan and angel taro. Personally the Hokkaido azuki was average. Looking forward to trying more of their items.

Such a cute bakery with fresh bread and sweets at a good price! Stopped by here after having shabu shabu next door as we wanted something sweet. They had a bunch of different bread both savory and sweet. It was so hard choosing but we decided on a loaf of the cranberry walnut bread and Carrie black bread. The cranberry walnut bread had the perfect amount of cranberries and walnuts evenly spread and wasn't too sweet. The Carrie black bread was my favorite - it was a dark chocolate bread with layers of Belgian chocolate, dark chocolate chunks, and what seemed like a marscapone cream filling. It was amazing! Both breads were soft, so fresh, and the loaves were huge. Such a good value for less than $5 per loaf. Will definitely be back again the next time I want something sweet!

Small Taiwanese bakery in the Sunright and Dunkin Donuts plaza on Jeffrey/Irvine Center Drive. The bread selection was okay. Some were soft and others not so much. Much prefer 85c. Customer service here needs some work, they're not very friendly.

Yummy desserts and tucked in a small spot which makes it even cuter. Try their strawberry cake!

Yam Angel Bread is so delicious it was soft, light bread infused with the sweetness of yam.

1. These buns and breads are fresh and delicious! 2. The spot has fun cozy vibes! 3. The staff was friendly! Note: You pick up your sweets on a tray, and then you bring it to the cashier to pay! No seatings available! Photo: Taro Ube Pork Floss, Chocolate Bun, Matcha Red Bean Bread

SOFT ASIAN BREAD + KOKONUT PUDDING (4 stars) If you are looking for "Kokonut Space Capsule"... it's inside Duke Bakery. And inside Duke Bakery it's in a glass case fridge. Mind you, there are no seats inside (nor outside). There wasn't much flavors to choose from just a handful and I went with Peach. While browsing the tiny shoebox size bakery I poked (yes poked) their bread/pastries and they were super soft. Let's be real, Asian bakeries usually have dull or stale bread/pastries. It was soft like a pillow I had to try it out. PEACH KOKONUT PUDDING ($9.00) - it's a good dessert. They use fresh fruit mixed with coconut pudding. They give you a small package of coconut cornflakes and it is exactly that... coconut cornflakes. Nice for texture and taste. I liked it! But I don't feel it's worth the $9. RECOMMEND. RED WINE PINEAPPLE ($3.50) - grape ferment, honey, pineapple, red wine, mango, walnuts. This was super soft Asian bread with tiny bits of walnut baked in and it had a sweet filling of pineapple and mango. The red wine flavor is very subtle! I liked it but was a bit tired of the strong presence of pineapple. RECOMMEND. Until the next review...

Eat it all!

The pastries look delicious and made with love! The service was fast and polite. I say the place is small but full with delicious delicious delicacies one should go and get two or more if you want to bring joy to a party.

This location is much closer to home, so I visited one afternoon when craving their cookies. The interior is modern, classy-bougie, with 4 tables and a large cushy chair. I ordered two cookies, the chocolate chip walnut and peanut butter chocolate, along with an iced horchata latte. I sat at one of the tables, opened the box my cookies were presented in, and found myself in cookie ecstasy. The cookies are fat mountains of deliciousness. Slightly crisp outside and soft inside (note: even softer if taken home and warmed up). The chocolate chip was crammed full of chips and the walnuts were in tiny bits to keep the cookie's texture soft. The chocolate cookie was also enormous and had an abundance of peanut butter chips. Both were superb. The horchata latte had just enough ice to keep it cold. It had a bold flavor of cinnamon which I loved. Staff here were friendly, efficient, and speedy. I like the vibe of this place but like their cookies even more.

First the service. 5* - The one customer in front of me was being indecisive and took way too long, but this is not the faultof the restaurant. What I loved is that the person behind the counter was super genuine and nice. She saw I was waiting patiently for the customer and went above and beyond to help me bypass the wait. I chose to be patient as I wasn't in a rush. Thank you though! The Latte 5* - Sea Salt Caramel Latte. I picked something I've had many times before and mostly just wanted the caffeine. Absolutely wonderful latte. The foam, the caramel, the coffee. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. The Cookies - Cookies-n-cream 5*. This blew me away. Its their most popular item. There were samples and before I could stop myself, I had 3 samples. Lol so gooood! Warmed my cookie up when I got home and it got even better than 5*. - Pistachio Cookie 5* This was so good. If it had a chocolate shell on the outside it would've been a Dubai Chocolate Cookie and sold for 3x the price. ( Hint hint Paderia! ) I love how both cookies were exactly the same in chewy texture and quality, and so different in flavor and experience. So good I ate both in one day. Keep it up, Madeira! Ill be back!

Only recently was I able to visit and try their croffles and other sweets. Did NOT know that this was inside the H Mart food court in Diamond Jamboree. Parking is horrendous and the driving there is horrendous as well. Probably the easiest and least horrifying option just to automatically default to is to just park in the overflow lot right next to the plaza. There's no indicator for the parking garage so on a particularly busy day, you can head all the way to the top, find nothing and navigate through the hell crowds trying to leave. Ambiance is a very casual, counter order business in the food court. There's seating there, but we ate really close by. Definitely something you have to eat immediately or the texture will not be optimal or it might get soggy. We got the tiramisu croffle and they toasted it and put it together for us there. The lady working there packed it up nicely in a to go box and we got some cookies (regular ones and almond crisp ones). It's a bit sweet, but they're dessert pastries so that makes sense. Goes great with a brewed cup of tea. Croffle had a nice semi-chewy texture and the tiramisu flavor added a bit of a coffee taste to it. Good balance of the cream and croffle. The cookie wasn't too bad either. Overall not a bad to go dessert spot.

WHY DOES THIS BAKERY HAVE A 4.5+ RATING?…read more This is our first visit. Clearly the pastries are a very high level of quality and french cuisine. We had breakfast - an omelette, some bacon and lamb sausage, potatoes, and a cappuccino. we also had some pastries. All excellently prepared. We're going to try something else besides the omelette next time...it was OK but not "out of the park" so we'll try something else next week. Service - after we ordered at the counter our food was delivered to the table which are all located outside on a well-shaded patio. We always split our dishes - my wife and I can't eat an entire plate of food. It's not "table service" - they don't come back and check you or help with water or drinks, etc. Whatever you want you must return to the counter. But service at the counter is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is an outdoor cafe....noisy neighbors, wind when it blows, dogs, all the regular stuff - good seating and umbrellas with some areas naturally shaded...lots of tables relative to the size of the shop. Very friendly staff. Why do my reviews get over 1,000 views every time we visit a new place? We don't know but it seems consistent. We feature very critical reviews - we rate high but include serious critiques. Maybe that's it.

I like getting the plain vanilla one, and it also comes with a little cereal at the bottom that gives it a good crunch. Whenever I come here it's always the same lady who I'm sure is tired of seeing me lol, but she is so sweet and kind and patient when I have trouble deciding what to pick here! As for the pastries/desserts, the custard pudding cup deserves more love! I'm not sure if it's housemade here, but if you've ever been to Japan, it tastes exactly like the ones you buy from the konbini! I remember I would buy one almost every day of my trip, so I've grown cravings for it that Hamadaya satisfies in OC. The bavarian chocolate cream is a fun decadent pastry if you're into chocolate- comes with so many chocolate chips. The cheese bread is also a go-to for me if I'm in a savory mood- it's exactly what it sounds like, cheese and bread but who doesn't love those two things? Egg katsu sandwich is good if you're looking for something more substantial. The strawberry shortcake I've tried here was also good, but I did pick it up near their closing so it felt a little dried out. Definitely would recommend coming here earlier in the day for fresher and better selection of pastries!

The lavender was the most unique and would absolutely be the one I bring to wow new people. The pistachio was rich, creamy, and really well balanced. The Italian chocolate was deeply chocolatey, exactly how I like it, and I finished the whole thing in one sitting. The rose flavor is definitely for people who truly enjoy rose desserts. The strawberry was the only one that did not fully match my expectations from a high end bakery. The tiramisu was decent, more cream-forward and lighter on the coffee flavor than I expected. Overall, these pastries are definitely on the sweeter, cream-based side, and honestly, that is exactly what made them so good to me. I do not want desserts to be less sweet, I want them to feel indulgent and perfect, and these did. I will absolutely keep going back, especially for the lavender, chocolate, and pistachio pastries.
