First time visiting this place after shopping at Whole Foods. Grabbed a few mini cupcakes they were so cute and bite sized! The service was good cute little shop will come Back

Oh how disappointing! After a large meal, close by, this cute little shop caught our eye. We love a good cupcake, so we bought a 6 pack variety of mini's to take home. The young man helping us was very bored, and though he answered our questions, he didn't care if we bought something or not. We shouldn't have. When we got home I tasted the peanut butter chocolate one. No taste. No peanut butter and minimal chocolate. My daughter tasted the strawberry cupcake and it had no flavor either!!! Were we punked? We live 2 hours away, so no recourse.

Delicious cupcakes that come in mini or regular size. There are lots of different flavors that are all great. The interior is beautifully designed and clean. The owner is super friendly and sweet, came in close to closing and the owner gave me some extra cupcakes for free. Great place for a little treat or celebration.

They have a lot of variety for their full size or mini cupcakes. The icing was great, but the cake itself was lacking some flavor. Perhaps the idea is to create a neutral base so the whole cupcake is not too sweet. The employees were friendly. Parking is tight, with few spaces with the amount of restaurants and Whole Foods in the shopping center.

I was so excited to try this place as every time I try going they are always sold out but I was very disappointed :( i got the marble and strawberry shortcake. When I cut into it, I can tell the cupcake was not fresh and seemed as if it was stale. The cupcakes themselves were just okay. Uber sweet and the strawberry shortcake one seemed to not be fully baked. $10 for 2 cupcakes is hefty especially for the quality unfortunately

This is the cutest little cupcake place in Irvine! I would get some but nothing is gluten-free yet. They're working on a gluten-free formula I was going to lick the topping off of the coconut cupcakes after lunch at Puesto

Walking into Dots Cupcakes, you immediately know this team understands the fundamentals of great customer service. They greet you at the door, walk you through the flavor profiles with genuine enthusiasm, and let the product do the talking. No fluff, just execution. And the execution? Flawless. The chocolate cupcakes are made with what I'm 99% certain is Valrhona cocoa powder, one of the most premium (and expensive) options in the pastry world. You can taste the difference. The depth, the richness, the lack of that bitter aftertaste you get from lesser cocoa powders? That's what investing in quality ingredients looks like. But here's the real winner: the red velvet. I've had Sprinkles. I've had the "best" cupcakes in multiple cities. Dots' red velvet is better. Period. The texture, the balance of cocoa and buttermilk, the cream cheese frosting that doesn't overpower, it's what red velvet should be. The star of the show is, as it should be, the cupcakes themselves. Everything else, the quick service, the warm greeting, the flavor explanations, supports that main event without getting in the way. I'll absolutely order from them again. When you find a team that understands both craft and customer experience, you support them. Recommendation: Start with the red velvet. Thank me later.

I ordered 3 mini cupcakes to satisfy my sweet tooth craving. I got 2 strawberry shortcake and the chocolate coconut. Omg! So moist and delicious! I could've easily ordered more since I ate it in store but also watching my sugar intake. These cupcakes were a little piece of heaven in your mouth I would definitely come back whenever I'm in the area. Plenty of parking, minimal seating inside, but friendly and welcoming staff. Oh btw, they even have doggie cupcakes, so I bought one for mine and he loved it!

I had the opportunity to try out these delicious cupcakes! i got the Half Dozen Cupcakes Custom Selection, the flavors i had the chance to try were, Carrot Cake, Red Velvet, Strawberry Shortcake, Birthday Cake, Cookies and Cream, and Blueberry Lemon. All had amazing taste and were very moist and just the right amount of sweet. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. And the shop was very clean and well lit. I would definitely come back for a sweet treat here and recommend to my friends.

Super cute storefront with friendly staff. The Irvine Dots location is just as whimsical as its City of Roses counterpart. Bring a fan of the OG Pasadena location, Irvine Dots did not disappoint. Dots Cupcakes does a great job with their chocolate varieties due to the moist texture of the cake. You can't go wrong with trying anything chocolate. My favorites are the following: Mostess - chocolate cake topped with chocolate buttercream and a familiar white swirl. Reminiscent of a Hostess cupcake but a thousand times better. FYI, only available Friday-Sunday. Chocolate Coconut - chocolate cake frosted with vanilla buttercream and topped with coconut flakes. Final touch is an adorable bear adornment.

    Sad "cupcakes"

These are the saddest cupcakes I have ever seen and the worst part of it all is that they cost $5.00 each! Can you even call them a cupcake? They don't even fill the cupcake liner - such a rip off! I wanted to give Dots one more chance to redeem itself, but it's worse than when I posted my first review. Sad to say but I will never be returning again.

    Exemplary Employee

I loved the professionalism here from a worker who told me his name was "Steve Woogeon Kim"? I believe! Stunning display of cupcakes as well as moist bouncy cake batter. Beautiful playlist. Short wait time. Will come again.

This location is much closer to home, so I visited one afternoon when craving their cookies. The interior is modern, classy-bougie, with 4 tables and a large cushy chair. I ordered two cookies, the chocolate chip walnut and peanut butter chocolate, along with an iced horchata latte. I sat at one of the tables, opened the box my cookies were presented in, and found myself in cookie ecstasy. The cookies are fat mountains of deliciousness. Slightly crisp outside and soft inside (note: even softer if taken home and warmed up). The chocolate chip was crammed full of chips and the walnuts were in tiny bits to keep the cookie's texture soft. The chocolate cookie was also enormous and had an abundance of peanut butter chips. Both were superb. The horchata latte had just enough ice to keep it cold. It had a bold flavor of cinnamon which I loved. Staff here were friendly, efficient, and speedy. I like the vibe of this place but like their cookies even more.

It was good just as the chocolate chip bundts are. The pistachio butter was also good, -but it oddly reminded me exactly of the jar of Pistachio Butter you can get from Costco. I think they just squeezed it into their chocolate bundts and called it a day with gold flakes. If my theory is correct you could do this yourself at home with chocolate bundts and fill the center with the pistachio butter. Anyway, still delicious, but they lose style points for how they put this together and there was only about a single teaspoon of Pistachio Butter inside the bundtlet that you can see on my photo. While the cake design looked great at first glance, I cannot recommend this business given the $400 price tag for a 6-inch cake. The design is "pretty," but it is misleading. Almost all the decorations were non-edible plastic ornaments, paper printouts, and pre-made models rather than handcrafted sugar work or fondant. For this price, I expected artisanal craftsmanship, not a collection of plastic balls and paper toppers. Once you strip away the non-edible parts, you are left with a basic chiffon cake that tastes no different from a $40 cake at a standard Asian bakery. The massive markup seems to be for the "styling" of plastic toys rather than the actual baking or artistry. It felt like paying a premium for a cake that I had to "disassemble" just to eat.

After leaving lunch nearby, I passed by the Newport Beach location and decided it was finally time to give it a try. First impressions were honestly really good. Parking was super easy because they have an open lot, which immediately made the experience less stressful. The bakery itself is also really pretty inside. It has that classic, clean bakery aesthetic that feels warm and inviting without being overly trendy. Everything looked fresh and well displayed, and the atmosphere definitely gave "treat yourself after lunch" energy. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming when I came in. One thing I genuinely liked was that they cut the cake slices fresh in front of you instead of having them prepackaged and sitting out. It made everything feel fresher and a little more personalized, which I appreciated. I decided to try the funfetti cake because I feel like that's such a classic flavor and usually a pretty safe choice. It's simple, nostalgic, and honestly hard to mess up. Unfortunately, this just wasn't for me. The biggest issue for me was the texture. The cake itself was very dense and heavier than I expected. I usually like funfetti cake to feel soft, fluffy, and light, especially paired with buttercream frosting, but this one felt more compact and rich than I personally prefer. The icing also had a grainy texture that really stood out to me. I'm not sure if that's just their style of frosting, but it didn't have the smooth, creamy texture I usually look for in cake frosting. That being said, if you like a denser, richer style of cake, this honestly might be the perfect bakery for you. It just personally is not my preference. I tend to prefer lighter cakes with smoother frosting, so I think this came down more to taste and texture preferences than the bakery doing anything "wrong." Flavor-wise, it wasn't terrible by any means, but it just didn't wow me, especially considering how much I've heard people rave about SusieCakes. I kept comparing it in my head to Magnolia Bakery, which for me personally has softer cake texture and frosting that I enjoy a lot more. That said, I still think the bakery itself is worth visiting at least once because the customer service was great, the space was beautiful, and the experience overall was pleasant. I just personally didn't enjoy the actual cake as much as I hoped I would. Overall, I'd probably come back to try a different flavor before fully writing the place off, but based on the funfetti slice alone, it wasn't my favorite.

When we ordered the cinnamon roll, there was no option to heat it up, so we thought they would have done it already. When it was served, it was rock solid. So, we asked them to heat it up. However, after a few minutes, it still wasn't that gooey and the inner core was still pretty tough. Perhaps they could have warmed it up so that it was evenly softened. Overall, the cinnamon roll was alright. It was a brioche roll so you would think it might be lighter and fluffy, but ours was pretty dry. However, the cream on top was insanely good. It carried the roll. The hazelnut twist was kind of what you would expect. A twisted pastry but with a hefty amount of hazelnut-chocolate spread thru the layers. We sat in a little nook, where there was a magnetic black board, where there were word tiles you could rearrange in any way. It was a nice place to just look around at all the sentences the community wrote. Chess tables were also available as extra seating. Overall, the service was good, but could be better when warming up pastries, so that the customer can enjoy them properly!
