We thought our Office Coordinator put us on some kind of diet or something because they were tiny cupcakes. :) We were told later that Sprinkles only had the mini cupcakes available when she ordered. I feel like over time the cupcakes have gotten smaller and much sweeter and more expensive (now it's $5.50). I tend to get their red velvet and strawberry flavor. I saw their new candy apple one but didn't have the stomach for a third cupcake. I like how you can order ahead on their app for easy pickup. When we went in, we were able to order right away and I like that they have most every flavor, even in the later evening. I visited this location the day before thanksgiving and was surprised when I entered the store that no one was there. I looked around and attempted to use the self-checkout kiosk and when I was almost finished one the workers came to greet me. 5-7 min later. She was super nice and suggested I get the Vietnamese coffee cupcake it was that or the gluten free blueberry lemon. To be honest, I didn't like the flavor of the cupcake. I should have gone with something tried and true, like the red velvet or the blueberry lemon. Luckily, this was the last day to redeem my birthday cupcake, so I didn't have to pay for it. We've been trying to lessen our sugar intake and quickly found out how massively difficult it is to find sugar-free dessert options at bakeries. Since we were going to be in the Irvine Spectrum area anyway, I figured why not find out what's available there. My "research" led me to this place and the one option they offer--Sugar free Red Velvet Cupcake. The cake itself with the frosting is said to be made with sugar substitutes. Ok, let's try it out. Yup, it's quite good. Just the right amount of "sweetness" and I really like the cream cheese frosting. The texture is soft and not dry. There is an "s" at the top which is technically edible, but I'd skip it. For the sugar free seeker though, highly recommend. The only downside, it is pricey...but like expectedly so--I mean, with the franchise name and location. Tip: order ahead (there were many to-go orders ready because it ensures you'll get the flavor and options you're looking for.) The lady that gave us our pick-up order was friendly and efficient--that's all we expected and received. The outside of the Sprinkles building is cute, the inside is small but also cute. Love Sprinkles cupcakes! My favorite is the red velvet. It is the fluffiest with the yummiest cream cheese frosting. The banana, vanilla and chocolate are also delicious. I have been wanting to order a Sprinkles cake ever since I saw it on their website. We ordered the confetti cake and were disappointed. The sprinkles at the Irvine location doesn't seem to get as much attention as the one in CDM, but maybe thats just because I went here during the week. I ordered online for pickup just around the time the limited edition strawberry shortcake cupcake was available. The location was clean, and more spacious than the one in CDM. They had a nice shelf for pick up orders (or at least I think that's what it's for). There are more cupcakes here than the CDM location, so I doubt they have to deal with running out of certain flavors throughout the day. Definitely come here if you're in Irvine or more south OC. read more

I often order via their app and do in-store pick up. It's always been fast and easy. That said, I recently saw that they now offered mini cupcakes so decided to get two dozen of those instead of a dozen of their normal sized cupcakes... and they look like store bought cupcakes that should be sold for no more than $10 a dozen. I have been craving for sprinkles for so long finally got it for Mother's day yay!! The service from the front desk girl was appropriate she was friendly and thorough. We did have to order from one of the two iPads in the front so it was kind of easy to do. Since we were at the Spectrum for dinner nearby, my husband and I went to redeem my birthday promo. I remember back in the day when I had my first sprinkles, cupcake, it was amazing. I'm not sure what has happened, but over the last few years, they taste bland and on the stale side. And this is the regular cupcakes, not even the gluten-free. I bought two gluten-free cupcakes for my wife and she wouldn't even eat them because she's had them many times before and she said it is not worth the calories. Unfortunately, I agree with her, and after I bought them for the last time, she told me, you told me to remind you not to buy them there anymore. So the last time I had Sprinkles was about six years ago and it was a bit underwhelming imo. Since then it was just never convenient to get it since there's usually a long line or out of the way, so when I saw that it was finally opened at spectrum, I thought it would be nice to give it another try since I'm here every week lol. This is my third time getting it since I wanted to be sure I tried a good majority before giving this place my proper review! I went right when they opened since I was walking my dog so there was no line. You order through a kiosk only and there aren't any displays for you to look at, but there are pictures! Once you order through a kiosk, they went to getting my order which didn't take long. They were very considerate to ask if I wanted my gluten free cupcake to be separated from the regular ones. The cupcakes were ok in my opinion! Better than what I remembered them to be. I personally feel like there's a lot of frosting, which makes it hard to take a big bite that includes the cake and frosting and the cake does fall apart pretty easily and the cake does stick to the paper, which I didn't like. I can handle sweets pretty well, but I do think that it can be too sweet for those who aren't big on them. My boyfriend and I personally enjoy cupcakes that have been refrigerated, so I put it in the fridge when we got back lol. We've had it not refrigerated and we weren't a huge fan. Orders: Red Velvet: I believe this is like *the* cupcake flavor and I totally get it! I love red velvet so I had to try it and it is really good! I would say this is my favorite one out of all the others I've tried. Lemon Blueberry: my boyfriend got this and he liked it. I didn't try it since I don't l love lemon blueberry but he thinks it was good! The frosting is lemon flavored and he had a couple of blueberries in the cake itself. Black and White: vanilla frosting, dark chocolate cake with chocolate sprinkles. I really enjoyed this one to be honest! I am a sucker for the basic flavor haha so I had to try it and I thought it was yummy! Definitely would be considered too sweet for those who don't love sweets but i think they did a good job combining vanilla and chocolate. Strawberry: similar to a strawberry shortcake. I enjoyed the strawberry frosting as well as the cake itself. It wasn't too sweet (for me personally). I just wish it wasn't as crumbly as it was. I ate this without refrigeration and didn't like how the cake part fell apart easily because there were so much crumbs. Dark Chocolate: again, love chocolate lol so I had to get this. It's very much your standard chocolate cupcake with chocolate sprinkles. Circus Animal: comes with a circus animal cookie on top! It was really just a funfetti cake, which was good! Just wasn't worth the price in my opinion. Pup cake : so when I saw that they had a cupcake for dogs, I HAD to get it for my dog because why not haha if we get dessert, so does he. It looked good and smelled just like their other cupcakes! The downside is that it is small, which was disappointing since it was $3. My dog would say it was good, but he eats everything lol. Overall, I do think it's worth trying if you like sweets, but personally I wouldn't wait in line for them. I'd get it to satisfy my craving, but it's nothing special. They're very pretty visually but for $6-$7 a piece, they just don't wow me. The employees are very nice and efficient though and the place was clean. It is small though so I can't imagine how it would be packed since I've only gone when they weren't busy. read more

I usually love Sprinkles, but my experience last night was terrible, and the cupcakes tasted off. I arrived around 8:50 p.m., and the two girls working there seemed visibly annoyed by our presence. When we ordered a box of four cupcakes, they were unfriendly and dismissive. It felt uncomfortably like they were treating us differently, and I couldn't shake the feeling that it might have been racially motivated. The cupcakes themselves were disappointing--they didn't taste fresh at all. The red velvet was squished and missing the signature button on top. They had everything pre-packed in boxes, almost as if they were ready to leave. It felt like they were upset we had come in, as if they didn't even want our business. When we sat outside, we saw them rush out, taking the remaining cupcakes with them, visibly rolling their eyes. It was an awful experience. I wish I hadn't spent money there and will stick to the Newport location, where the staff is friendly and the cupcakes are consistently fresh. These were unbelievably hard and stale. Honestly I've always wanted to try Sprinkles cupcake and since they collabed with one of my favorite mobile games it felt like a perfect excuse to finally try it! This location is in Irvine spectrum so there's plenty of parking available especially in the parking structure. The store itself is so cute and walking into the bakery smelled amazing! I pre-ordered my cupcakes in advance and went to go pick them up with no problems. The workers did seem sort of impatient even though I was the only customer in the shop. The cupcakes for the collab were so cute looking, and I got my redemption code with no issues! However, these cupcakes tastewise were incredibly disappointing. These were supposed to be lemon blueberry cupcakes with raspberry frosting. The frosting is overly sweet with no flavor and felt almost a bit gritty. It completely drowns out any flavor in the cake. I tried the cake alone, and it was dry. The blueberry lemon flavor was almost nonexistent, I didn't taste any lemon and the blueberries were incredibly lackluster. I've heard their signature flavors are pretty good, so it may have just been the collaboration cupcakes that were tasteless? Honestly it tasted a bit stale, and I went the very first day of the collaboration. Either way, I would not recommend this flavor to anyone and I'd be hesitant to go back to Sprinkles to try their other flavors. There's better cupcake places and bakeries in the OC area. You're better off going to Nothing Bundt cakes or Susiecakes, or even a grocery store honestly. Since it was a collaboration these cupcakes cost $6 each, their normal cupcakes seem to be in the $5 range but I wouldn't pay that much for these again. Been wanting to check this place out for awhile. We live closer to the one in La Jolla but since we were in the Irvine area we opted to go to this location instead. Inside is small, luckily the group before us was just leaving as we arrived, my husband in on a knee scooter because he just had foot surgery so it was a little difficult with him being in the small space allotted at the establishment. They were out of the flavor of the month , the smore which was a little disappointing and a few others. we ended up getting the 6 pack of cupcakes and a oatmeal frosted flake cookie. the total came to about $35. tue carrot cake , strawberry and the oatmeal cookie was the best thing we ate. the marshmallow was bitter, too much dark chocolate maybe... the cupcakes are super sweet, heavy and there is a lot of icing so its best to split and share the cupcakes. i for sure cant eat one by myself. staff was nice. read more

On my bucket list of places to try at least once, so I did. We stopped by the Irvine Spectrum around 7pm on a Saturday night when I saw Sprinkles and wanted to check it out. They have a nice variety of unique cupcakes but also some traditional flavors. They also had cookies and a few other bakery items which I didn't know they carried. Unfortunately, some of the cupcake flavors were already sold out for the day, but still enough to choose from. We had just had dinner so decided to come back on our way home and pick some up to go. Fast forward to almost 9pm (they are open until 10pm on a Saturday) and they only had 3 flavors left! Oh well, two of them had chocolate in them so that's all that mattered to me. Ordering can be a little confusing. Someone was there taking orders, but they also had tablets in front of the register. We finally figured out you just go up to the tablets and start ordering. I did notice the menu on the tablet didn't show which ones were out for the day. I assume if I tried to order one, I would get a message of some type. Anyway - we placed our order for 2 cupcakes and waited. The area around the counter and where you wait for your order can get crowded and there really isn't a place to sit, which is probably for the better, but it can get chaotic. Now, I have to give a shout out to the people working behind the counter. They really appeared to be having fun! Definitely some good vibes coming from them. We got our cupcakes and heading home. Later that night, it was time to enjoy! The box the cupcakes come in is well made as the cupcakes were well protected. Not even a dent in the frosting. In fact, there was no cross-contamination (meaning frosting from one cupcake to the others)! So much better than most bakeries. Now if you're wondering where the name "Sprinkles" comes from, it's because these cupcakes are loaded with them on top. This means you might want a good size plate to catch the debris that's going to fall off the cupcake. I decided to use a fork when I saw how messy it was going to get. And it did. In the end, it was a mighty fine cupcake. I would say better than your average grocery store cupcake. Some cupcakes have as much frosting as cake, but the ones from Sprinkles had a good balance which I appreciated. Rude af workers for the Honkai star rail event. I went there and I asked if I ordered 3 cupcakes can I get the march 7th code and they said no it's per order. So I did 3 separate orders and they refused to give me the cards until I pestered that it wasn't for my but for one of my friends birthday and another friend who was working that day. The girl told me it was per order and the dude working the shift wouldn't give us the cards until they finally caved into doing so. Why is it such a big deal to give out a card It's per order is it not and it's not harming anyone? Also it's the last day for this event. Finally a location closer to us! Located in Spectrum, next to the water fountain feature at the theater. It's a small and slightly cramped shop - people had trouble passing each other walking to and from the register from one of the doors. It also feels impersonal compared to the Newport location - we couldn't see the cupcakes because they were covered on the baking rack and there was no display case. Instead of being greeted, we were just shown the tablet to order our cupcakes. Then a name was called, a bag was placed on the counter, and I didn't even have a chance to say thanks before the person walked away. Cupcakes were pretty on par with what I get at Newport, though they were slightly drier. Seasonal flavors are...interesting, but my favorite is still the good ol' Black and White. read more
