They're always a pleasure to interact with, and despite being quick and efficient, they never sacrifice the quality of the products or the level of service. Nice to grab a drink and a snack before the shopping center opens. The staff if very friendly and it never seems very busy, before the stores open. Lots of tables around the shopping center to relax before shopping. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte (hot) and my favorite Lemon Loaf Cake. That is the best cake! Horrible service. Frequent this place almost every week for years getting my coffee, stopped by tonight on some errand to apple store after work and asked for a cup of water, the staff looked at me and said in a very rude and cold manner "well you have to buy something". You can instantly tell when a place is being run by someone who genuinely cares about both the customers and the team. Depending on the day, it could be busy but I always seem to need a cup of coffee after driving here. It's refreshing and always consistent. She went above and beyond to answer my questions about the menu and incorporated an item not listed on the menu (cappachino). I enjoy Starbucks every day and 95% of the time I have a good experience. This was not the case today. This morning at 10:20 I visited the Starbucks inside of the Crystal Court mall at South Coast Plaza. I was the only one in the store, and I ordered a tall Pike. I don't order fancy drinks, just brewed coffee. Today, their brewer machine was broken. I totally get it that things break, but this Starbucks needs to train their employees on how to handle these situations. When I was told I couldn't get a simple brewed coffee, I was offered a "pour-over." I told the barista that I don't like pour-overs, and that it looks like I'll have to leave and go to another Starbucks. I fully expected the barista to say she was sorry and to reach for a coupon that said, "The Next One's On Us." She did not apologize and she did not offer me a complimentary drink. I told her that back in the day, when Starbucks cared about customer service, I would be offered a complimentary drink for my trouble. She shrugged and said they don't do that anymore. I received no apology, and when I told her how disappointed I was in the lack of customer service, she again shrugged and suggested I write a Yelp review, which is what brings me here today. She's a nice gal who's just doing her job to manage the traffic flow of a very busy Starbucks counter. She's never rude but that little bit of authority in her voice is needed to pop the self involved bubble of the South Coast Plaza customer and make ya'll pay attention! Grab your own damn straws (because those flat lidded cups with the mouth holes are not supposed to be used with straws!) and put them in your drinks AWAY from the 10 other people who are also trying to grab their drinks. second bad experience here. i had mobile ordered an hour before and came back for an ice water. i asked the barista if i could have an ice water. she told me rudely no and that i had to get in line to order a free water. in my 20 years of going to starbucks ive never been told to go back in line and order an ice water at the register. read more

I'd give no stars if possible. 2pm on July 27 (today). After ordering multiple drinks for our group, I asked for a cup of ice. Girl said yes and continued cleaning the countertops. Which is fine. She always in the middle of cleaning. Fast forward a minute or two, she starts fulfilling orders. So I go to the register and ask her for a cup of ice and she said sure and it would come out. I mentioned to the cashier that the other girl said she'd help and was busy. So the girl turns around with an attitude and says she'll get to it. Then as she gives me my cup of ice, she gives me attitude and tells me there's other orders ahead of me. Perhaps that's what she could said in the first place. But really. Is it hard to scoop some ice after all of our other drinks were done? I didn't appreciate the attitude of the worker. If she's that unhappy, maybe she should get another job. The staff here are the worst and come across as racist towards the Asian community. Me and my spouse both bought the reusable Tumblers for our drinks that have always been advertised as a way Starbucks can help the environment by reducing waste. I brought mine in and ordered my favorite drink. The reused my cup with no hesitation. A couple customers later is my spouse. He is Asian decent. When he order his drink as usual and tried reusing his cup he was told because of "germs" that they could use his cup. After researching Starbucks and their official policy on the matter we discovered the staff was wrong. They seem to be making their own rules and policies. Especially regarding the Asian community. So I was here today to get some drinks for my mom and brother as they love Starbucks and I was running some errands. Keep in mind I hardly ever go to Starbucks so I have no idea what I am doing when I go inside haha. The barista that I was talking to (PATTY) was very helpful and understanding. Amazing customer service! When I went I was helped out by the cashier at the register named Alex. He was so kinda and helpful to me and helped me pick out one of the new holiday drinks they are currently offering. Everyone else was super kind and welcoming one of the baristas named Elle was super kind and had amazing customer service! When I received my drink they said THANKYOU and we had a small conversation about my bag they seemed to like. My drink was exceptionally good, I got the pumpkin spice iced latte and it tasted amazing. They really deserve more credit for their skills. Over all my experience was great I felt welcomed and all my questions were answered.
