Overpriced for what you get--mostly plastic, not pastry art. I have mixed feelings about my experience here. While the cake design looked great at first glance, I cannot recommend this business given the $400 price tag for a 6-inch cake. The design is "pretty," but it is misleading. Almost all the decorations were non-edible plastic ornaments, paper printouts, and pre-made models rather than handcrafted sugar work or fondant. For this price, I expected artisanal craftsmanship, not a collection of plastic balls and paper toppers. Once you strip away the non-edible parts, you are left with a basic chiffon cake that tastes no different from a $40 cake at a standard Asian bakery. The massive markup seems to be for the "styling" of plastic toys rather than the actual baking or artistry. I am going to kick off 2025 with my first review on Ji's bakery. To provide some context, I organized a SURPRISE birthday party for my wife with a custom cake. The biggest concern is that my wife can read me like a text book so I didn't think I can pull it off. But I did it!!! Please note that I had Ji's Cake boutique bookmarked for quite some time. It was just a matter of me figuring out when to execute my plan. Anyway, what you can do is go on her website to provide her details. We then communicated pretty much via text messages about the design and options. I asked her if she can come up with an Hermes like cake, which I am attaching a picture. The flavors available are: strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. Ji mentioned that the best seller is the strawberry flavor so that's what I went with. Honestly, I had my doubts because most of the time you hear that custom cakes would look good but does not taste great. But in this case, I can vouch that the design of the cake is amazing and the cake tasted fantastic. My wife is super detail oriented and even she was mightily impressed with both the design and taste of the cake. This is absolutely a work of art!!! By the way, Ji was able to deliver the cake and I was able to pay her via Zelle. I also gave her more than a week noticed.
