My husband was a wicked sweet tooth and after we ordered some food across the lot, he was being pulled by the siren song of the illuminated Dots Cupcakes sign from across the way. We made our way over and the lovely manager Iva was kind enough to stay late to make sure we got our cupcakes! She was so warm and gracious and helped us pick out the perfect assortment of tasty cakes, I seriously think we got one of each flavor they had left! Every single flavor we sampled was delicious, moist, and packed with flavor. And not overly sweet, which is the best compliment I can give ;) We can't wait to come back and see Iva and hopefully sample some coffee next time and whatever other new flavors they roll out (they have new flavors all the time!) Thanks so much Iva and Dots! We will be back soon.

I hate to be a negative Nancy because I love desserts and always love to give little shops their dues but unfortunately not this place. I had to run into the ups store next door so decided to stop in this cute little cupcake shop and bring home dessert. I bought 6 "Regular" sized cupcakes for $28! $28 for 6 ACTUAL little tiny cupcakes. They look like minis but are not. It seems like they were trying to make them super moist but all that moisture made the cupcake attach itself to the wrapper. Truly took away half the cupcake. (See photos) also because of this forced "moistness" it made the cupcake very dense. The icing is your typical sugary icing (not my fav) but understand most people like it. Save yourself the $28 and buy your cupcakes from Ralph's bakery. So much better tasting, bigger and cheaper unfortunately. I am giving this place two stars rather than one because of the very sweet young girl at the counter that was helpful and kind.

This location is much closer to home, so I visited one afternoon when craving their cookies. The interior is modern, classy-bougie, with 4 tables and a large cushy chair. I ordered two cookies, the chocolate chip walnut and peanut butter chocolate, along with an iced horchata latte. I sat at one of the tables, opened the box my cookies were presented in, and found myself in cookie ecstasy. The cookies are fat mountains of deliciousness. Slightly crisp outside and soft inside (note: even softer if taken home and warmed up). The chocolate chip was crammed full of chips and the walnuts were in tiny bits to keep the cookie's texture soft. The chocolate cookie was also enormous and had an abundance of peanut butter chips. Both were superb. The horchata latte had just enough ice to keep it cold. It had a bold flavor of cinnamon which I loved. Staff here were friendly, efficient, and speedy. I like the vibe of this place but like their cookies even more.

They were busy with a lot of Mother's Day weekend rush, but the staff was friendly to everyone with big smiles and they were moving the line along as quickly as possible. I picked up my usual favorite slices: Carrot Cake Slice ($8.49), Tropical Coconut Slice ($8.99), and Old-Fashioned Chocolate Slice ($8.99). They were moist and delicious! Sometimes, the Tropical Coconut can be slightly dry, but it was perfectly moist when I had it this past weekend. They had a really cute May 4th Grogu cake on display and I just think that they not only make delicious cakes, but their cake decorating skills are on point! SusieCakes is worth the splurge!

After waiting for someone to help me, I walk up to the counter and ask if it was possible to pick up a cake that I ordered. The result was the male sales representative with a beard rolling their eyes and yelling at me - what's the last name! I'm positive Mothers Day is a very busy day for you all, but no one should be on the receiving end of that type of sass from anyone, especially after paying close to $100 for a 6" inch cake. It definitely killed the excitement for the gender reveal with this cake tainted with attitude.

It was good just as the chocolate chip bundts are. The pistachio butter was also good, -but it oddly reminded me exactly of the jar of Pistachio Butter you can get from Costco. I think they just squeezed it into their chocolate bundts and called it a day with gold flakes. If my theory is correct you could do this yourself at home with chocolate bundts and fill the center with the pistachio butter. Anyway, still delicious, but they lose style points for how they put this together and there was only about a single teaspoon of Pistachio Butter inside the bundtlet that you can see on my photo. It was very little, I expected much more (like the photo). I love you Nothing Bundt Cakes, I get one for my birthday every year. You can do better than whatever this promotion was. Dont be sorry, be better. Be more creative and unique. Your products and promotions will go further.

While the cake design looked great at first glance, I cannot recommend this business given the $400 price tag for a 6-inch cake. The design is "pretty," but it is misleading. Almost all the decorations were non-edible plastic ornaments, paper printouts, and pre-made models rather than handcrafted sugar work or fondant. For this price, I expected artisanal craftsmanship, not a collection of plastic balls and paper toppers. Once you strip away the non-edible parts, you are left with a basic chiffon cake that tastes no different from a $40 cake at a standard Asian bakery. The massive markup seems to be for the "styling" of plastic toys rather than the actual baking or artistry. It felt like paying a premium for a cake that I had to "disassemble" just to eat.

After leaving lunch nearby, I passed by the Newport Beach location and decided it was finally time to give it a try. First impressions were honestly really good. Parking was super easy because they have an open lot, which immediately made the experience less stressful. The bakery itself is also really pretty inside. It has that classic, clean bakery aesthetic that feels warm and inviting without being overly trendy. Everything looked fresh and well displayed, and the atmosphere definitely gave "treat yourself after lunch" energy. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming when I came in. One thing I genuinely liked was that they cut the cake slices fresh in front of you instead of having them prepackaged and sitting out. It made everything feel fresher and a little more personalized, which I appreciated. I decided to try the funfetti cake because I feel like that's such a classic flavor and usually a pretty safe choice. It's simple, nostalgic, and honestly hard to mess up. Unfortunately, this just wasn't for me. The biggest issue for me was the texture. The cake itself was very dense and heavier than I expected. I usually like funfetti cake to feel soft, fluffy, and light, especially paired with buttercream frosting, but this one felt more compact and rich than I personally prefer. The icing also had a grainy texture that really stood out to me. I'm not sure if that's just their style of frosting, but it didn't have the smooth, creamy texture I usually look for in cake frosting. That being said, if you like a denser, richer style of cake, this honestly might be the perfect bakery for you. It just personally is not my preference. I tend to prefer lighter cakes with smoother frosting, so I think this came down more to taste and texture preferences than the bakery doing anything "wrong." Flavor-wise, it wasn't terrible by any means, but it just didn't wow me, especially considering how much I've heard people rave about SusieCakes. I kept comparing it in my head to Magnolia Bakery, which for me personally has softer cake texture and frosting that I enjoy a lot more. That said, I still think the bakery itself is worth visiting at least once because the customer service was great, the space was beautiful, and the experience overall was pleasant. I just personally didn't enjoy the actual cake as much as I hoped I would. Overall, I'd probably come back to try a different flavor before fully writing the place off, but based on the funfetti slice alone, it wasn't my favorite.

When we ordered the cinnamon roll, there was no option to heat it up, so we thought they would have done it already. When it was served, it was rock solid. So, we asked them to heat it up. However, after a few minutes, it still wasn't that gooey and the inner core was still pretty tough. Perhaps they could have warmed it up so that it was evenly softened. Overall, the cinnamon roll was alright. It was a brioche roll so you would think it might be lighter and fluffy, but ours was pretty dry. However, the cream on top was insanely good. It carried the roll. The hazelnut twist was kind of what you would expect. A twisted pastry but with a hefty amount of hazelnut-chocolate spread thru the layers. We sat in a little nook, where there was a magnetic black board, where there were word tiles you could rearrange in any way. It was a nice place to just look around at all the sentences the community wrote. Chess tables were also available as extra seating. Overall, the service was good, but could be better when warming up pastries, so that the customer can enjoy them properly!
