My friend got me hooked on the cream-filled cones. They're not too sweet and just so good. You do have to eat them right away, or at least keep them really cool. I was so sad to get home to melted, soggy pastries since we bought a few to take home. When you walk in, the store is filled with so many goodies. I caved and also tried the $17 box of walnut cookies. It's perfect for people who like things that aren't too sweet. I was hoping they would be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, but they're more firm and crumbly. I'll always come back for the cream-filled cones. I have to update my review today. We got the cone pastry, the fruit tart and the strawberry pineapple whole cake. Everything is not the same. The fruit tart is a little tougher and not as flavorful The cake was a lot more sweet and now too sweet for me. There was a little weird after taste as well. I'm sad because this was our go to cake. The people are still nice, but the decoration and presentation aren't as detailed as well. I hope they go back to how it used to be! read more

I have seen the rising cost of Assal's cookies and pastries over the years since Covid which affected the quantity of my purchases. But today, I found it insulting to see them add their own 4% vendor credit card charge on to the customer. Basically charging me 4% for using a credit card. I came by here on my hunt for the elusive Dubai chocolate. They actually do have it here, however their example of it is actually not very good. The chocolate bar itself was $12, and it tasted mass-produced and old. If you want a better example you should go to little Arabia in Anaheim and go to tawdi or One of the many bakeries in that area. This shop actually had some pretty good pastries and baked goods. I enjoyed their Napoleon, and the bottom shelf of honey covered fried goodies. I think that this bakery is a good change of pace from your normal Paris baguette or 85C. When you walk inside the bakery, you are immediately greeted by a colorful selection of pastries displayed in big glass cabinets. The shop is very tidy and clean. The ladies at the front counter are welcoming and dedicated to excellent customer service. They are happy to answer questions and can also make recommendations if you're undecided about which pastry to purchase. FOOD. Most of the tme, I purchase eclairs from this shop. However, this time, I decided to "try out" their Napoleon and Roulette pastries. The Napoleon pastries were freshly-made and tasted fantastic! The puff pastry was flaky and buttery and filled with rich custard style vanilla pastry creme topped with a decorative glaze. It was delicious. The Roulette pastries were also delicious and tasted freshly-made. They looked like rolled-up little "wheels" and were filled with a creamy and deliciously sweet vanilla filling encircled by a swirling layer of airy cake. I love this place! It's in the Marketplace in Irvine so there is plenty of parking. I usually can get a parking spot right up front. They have a variety of goodies to choose from.
