Their cookies are comparable to Levains (thick, hearty, soft, but chewy) and melt in ur mouth! 1 cookie is good for 2 people to share The egg starts are pricey but delicious. Comes out hot, buttery and flakey with that nostalgic signature egg mixture. Cant wait to be back and try more of their baked goods!

JASMINE MIlK TEA: 9/10 The Jasmine tea tastes great! There was quite a lot of FOAM on top but, overall it was very ENJOYABLE!!! PORTUGUESE EGG TARTS: 8/10 $1.49 each. I bought them for my mom and she said they were good but, she liked the CHINESE EGG TART more!!!... SERVICE: 8/10 Good and a little hesitant. I wasn't sure if I was being treated as a customer or a burden. Everyone was just trying to do their jobs it seems... AMBIANCE: 8/10 Kind of quiet! Which I actually like because yes other locations are busier. I noticed they ran out of many BAKED good items by evening time... START YOUR DAY THE SUNMERRY WAY!!!!

A few hiccups, but friendly staff and support that worked hard to make things right…read more I made an online order on Oct 17th, 2026 for an 8" strawberry cream cake to be picked up at 7pm on Oct 22nd for a birthday. I received an order reminder/pickup confirmation email on Oct 21st On the 22nd, I arrived at Sunmerry at 6:55pm and told the staff I had an online order under my name for 7pm pickup and showed them the email receipts. They were unable to find my order in their system or on a tab in the kitchen and ended up giving me the 8" strawberry cream cake inside their display case Unfortunately, I didn't think to inspect the cake before leaving the store and only realized upon opening the cake at home that it didn't look fresh. The strawberries had dried out and discolored and the whipped cream was also starting to split from being dried out as well I proactively reached out to Sunmerry and returned to the store the next day with the dry cake in tow and they agreed that the cake I received was not fresh and offered to replace it for me. I was also reached out to separately by Sunmerry employees (presumably corporate and unaffiliated with the Irvine location) to attempt and address the issue without needing me to physically return to the store which I appreciated, but declined their offer The replacement strawberry cream cake looks significantly better than what I originally received. However, I should note that the strawberries do still look slightly dried out. I'm willing to accept that this is a result of exposure to dry fridge air circulation rather than a systemic quality problem

What else to say about Chaupain, except it's always exceptional?…read more I'm biased - but their pastries have got to be the best in OC. This is the 3rd Chaupain location I've been to, I happened to be in the area. It's smaller than the one on La Paz in LN to be sure, but ample size enough to provide anyone with full tastes of their amazing goods. I like everything - I've tried nearly all of their pastries and cakes, this time I tried the cinnamon roll- which was insanely good, soft, and tasted of such quality. Actually - never tried their quiche, which is certainly on a bucket list for next time. I highly recommend everything they have - but just to name a new, the guava cream cheese, cinnamon cream cheese, mixed berry bateau, opera cake, vanilla scone, any of their croissants, lemon tiramisu, and the jamon sandwich is incredible - I love that the bread had a chewy texture, which is perfect for this sandwich. Adding any of the American condiments would almost be a sacrilege, but a bit of dijon is good, which they have there in packets- the flavours work so well together. I really struggle to restrain myself when coming here, which necessary for your wallet and your waistline - but whatever you decided it's all good here. The customer service was also stellar - very friendly, helpful, and personable. Thank you !

My family loves the spinach cheese and mixed berry croissant. They have a variety of croissants, tarts, cakes, quiches, sandwiches - and entree items like French onion soup, and the sunrise sandwich which are both very good. The Laguna Hills branch is a very small storefront with some patio seating. The staff are always so polite and friendly!

Their wagyu curry pan is perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Their drinks are also something you shouldn't miss out on. Their kinako hot drink, hojicha latte and matcha drinks are perfect for a mid day pick me up. They also have ice cream soft serve which is nice and a great treat on a warm day. I often buy their sliced bread as well and prefer their bread to other places.

I like getting the plain vanilla one, and it also comes with a little cereal at the bottom that gives it a good crunch. The coffee jelly milk is also great, it feels similar to a boba drink but it's a lot cheaper. Whenever I come here it's always the same lady who I'm sure is tired of seeing me lol, but she is so sweet and kind and patient when I have trouble deciding what to pick here! As for the pastries/desserts, the custard pudding cup deserves more love! I'm not sure if it's housemade here, but if you've ever been to Japan, it tastes exactly like the ones you buy from the konbini! I remember I would buy one almost every day of my trip, so I've grown cravings for it that Hamadaya satisfies in OC. The bavarian chocolate cream is a fun decadent pastry if you're into chocolate- comes with so many chocolate chips. The cheese bread is also a go-to for me if I'm in a savory mood- it's exactly what it sounds like, cheese and bread but who doesn't love those two things? Egg katsu sandwich is good if you're looking for something more substantial. The strawberry shortcake I've tried here was also good, but I did pick it up near their closing so it felt a little dried out. Definitely would recommend coming here earlier in the day for fresher and better selection of pastries!
