DK Donuts

This is my fav spot in Tustin for donuts. Always a huge selection of old school and fun creations alike, plus good drip coffee and great breakfast sandwiches. I love their glazed twist donuts, maple bars, Oreo cookie raised donuts and the bacon, egg, ham and cheese bagel. Service is fast and friendly and has a locally owned vibe. The parking situation is interesting with only a handful of spots but people move relatively quickly in and out so there's usually at least one spot open. They also have a drive thru which is pretty unique for a donut shop in OC, give them a try when you're nearby!

I went to purchase six donuts and a breakfast sandwich. It was a busy day and a treat for the kiddos and a quick but to eat for me. I was starving but could not finish it. The bagel was overly greasy and very bland from the bagel the cheese and eggs. The greasiness was too much and so I ended up just eating the inside so not to waste the food. The feedback I got on the old fashion donut it was greasy. Maybe an off day but all of the seven donuts and this sandwich were 24. Really nice that they have a drive thru there.

I live 5 minutes from DK's Donuts and figured I would finally give this place a try! I visited on a Saturday @10am and the parking lot was a bit compact. On the bright side, I like that you have the option of ordering via drive-thru or in-person. I ordered an egg, ham, & cheese croissant paired with a medium iced mocha latte. The croissant was delicious and the coffee really hit the spot. I'll have to try their donuts on my next visit!

One of my favorite spots to get donuts in the OC area. It's a fairly small stand in between streets and there is very limited parking available. They have a fairly large selection of donuts, bagels, and hot food items available. My favorite things to order are the blueberry and red velvet donuts. They also sometimes have ube donuts, but they usually only make them on weekends. We happened to be there at a time when the blueberry donuts had just been made and they were still warm, so it was a very delicious experience. They are able to help each person very quickly and while you're inside you can see them making the donuts behind the display cases. There's both inside and outside seating available and it's a good go to stop if you're looking for a sweet treat in the morning.

The OG of SoCal donut shops! I watched a documentary on the SoCal donut revolution in the 70s, and DK and other small mom and pop donut shops exploded. I decided to try it and it's awesome. The apple fritter is like it used to be, large, sweet glaze, tender inside, and chunks of apples. Many shop have shrunk their apple fritters The cronut was all the craze, but still so tasty. Flaky croissant layers, tender and crispy, topped with a sweet glaze. Absolutely delicious! There's a donut for everyone.

So amazing! I requested custom donuts. The set I got was $50 and I chose the colors and toppings. They got it done in about 2 days and I paid in advance so all I had to do was go pick it up. The density of the donuts was very fluffy and heavy.

DK's--Donut Kingdom? They are not associated with DK's in Santa Monica, but there isn't much info on their IG or FB, so not sure the story behind DK, except that it is amazing! Have done take-out from here several times. Food: -donuts are really good -great selection/variety -they make themed ones around the holidays, which is always fun -they also have amazing breakfast sandwiches (if you aren't in the mood for donuts) and smoothies, although I've never tried them -can do special orders for birthdays, etc. Service: -always very prompt and polite -recommend going early as lines start to create later in the a.m. (you know the food is good when there is a line for it). Pricing: -reasonable and in-line with local pricing Ambiance: -I've never eaten at the actual shop -they do have a patio for outdoor seating Summary: Amazing breakfast foods at a reasonable price. They do custom orders; which is an added benefit for those special occasions. Support your local "donut shop".

ALWAYS and forever, the best donuts on earth. He makes a "regular glaze donut" not so regular. The donut holes are my go to, so sweet and melt in your mouth, literally. You can't go wrong with any choice here. From sandwiches to smoothies, it's all amazing. And the service is top notch. Very homey over there. I lived right next to Dks for 23 years and still find myself driving back to Tustin after moving a few cities over. ITS WORTH IT!!

We came on a Sunday afternoon and I was immediately drawn to their case of yummy and aesthetically pleasing looking donuts. I ended up going with the "Bumbleberry Glazed" ($5.50) which is a combination of blueberry, blackberry and raspberry glaze atop of their 40 hour fermented sourdough yeast donut. Their donuts are fried to order so mine arrived perfectly warm and is definitely one of the best yeast donuts I've ever had. Service is friendly, and the shop is clean with ample amount of indoor and some outdoor seating so you can enjoy your donut right then and there. I can't wait to come back to try more of their other flavors!

A single donut for $5.50 and half a dozen for $34 is kind of wild. At those prices, my expectations shot way up. One thing I will give them--the donuts are fried to order, which is a nice touch because you know they're fresh. We ordered the Meyer lemon glazed, strawberry glazed, and the bumble berry. After ordering, we waited about 5-10 minutes, which isn't terrible, but for almost $18 for three donuts, I was definitely questioning if it would be worth it. Unfortunately... I don't think it was. The texture of the donuts was amazing--super soft, pillowy, and honestly really enjoyable to eat. The base donut itself had great flavor too. But the actual fruit flavors? That's where it fell flat. None of them were very strong, and after a few bites they all started to taste the same. The biggest disappointment for me was the lemon donut. Lemon is usually such a bold, bright flavor, so I thought it would be an easy favorite. Instead, it was one of those "smells like lemon but tastes like nothing" situations, which was honestly frustrating. If I had to rank them: strawberry was the best, then bumble berry, then lemon--but overall, none of them really stood out enough to justify the price. I really wanted to love this place given all the hype, but for me, it's just too expensive to risk being underwhelmed. I probably wouldn't come back.

They rotate specials and themed days (like Huckleberry Mondays, cinnamon roll drops, etc.), which keeps things interesting and gives you a reason to come back. The donuts themselves are elite--high-end ingredients, well-balanced flavors, and consistently strong across the menu. This isn't your standard donut shop--this is closer to pastry-level execution. That said, you pay for it. Pricing is aggressive--$25-$30 for a small box isn't unusual. But to be fair, the product backs it up. If you're looking for cheap donuts, this isn't your spot. If you want some of the best donuts you can get, it absolutely is. Where it falls short is operational consistency. Service can get messy when it's busy. The biggest issue is how they handle sold-out or limited items--it's inconsistent. Sometimes they'll let you buy and wait for a fresh batch, other times they won't allow it at all. That lack of clarity creates friction in what should be a premium experience. Bottom line: Top-tier product, premium pricing, slightly inconsistent execution on the service side. Still worth it--just go in knowing what you're getting.

During my last visit, my husband and I shared the salted butter and blueberry cheesecake donuts, which were both amazing. We also ordered a cold brew, which complemented the donuts nicely. One thing to note is that prices here are steep--the two donuts and a coffee ended up being close to $20. Service here is friendly! It is a tiny shop that is more of a grab and go spot, but there a few seats in the front to enjoy your sweet treat if your inclined to have it there. Placed an order for 3 double scoop cups (all they had) and took a really long time to make them having to figure out where the flavors were between the front and back of store. Then. They didn't have lids to cover them or a bag to put them in - so we literally covered each cup with another cup and put in a box I had from Costco in my trunk to get them home without dripping everywhere in my car. Came here with some friends for Afternoon Tea on a Saturday. We made a reservation for 12:30pm. Check-in was easy and quick. Since it was raining, we were seated indoors. Our server came to explain the menu and tea choices. Unfortunately, they were out of some teas, but they have a seasonal tea menu to make up for it. There were four of us and we all got the Afternoon Tea set. The teas we chose were the Coconut Milk Green Tea, Blueberry Pie Green Tea, Earl Grey Lavender, and Cherry Rose Rooibos. The teas came out first followed by the food items. We were told to let the teas steep for 4 minutes before pouring them. They were all great, but the favorite for us was the Coconut Milk Green Tea. It was creamy, smooth, and milky with a nice coconut flavor. The Blueberry Pie Green Tea tasted like a blueberry pie. We did not feel that the blueberry flavor was artificial. The Earl Grey Lavender was more Earl Grey than lavender. There might have been a subtle lavender flavor. The Cherry Rose Rooibos was surprisingly flavorful. We were able to taste both the cherry and rose. The food items were all solid. Our favorite sandwiches are the Chicken Salad and Cucumber ones. The breads for all the sandwiches were soft and fluffy, but they held up well. The scones were crunchy but not dry, and the jam was delicious. The fruit tart was mediocre. The pastry was soggy, affecting the texture of the tart. The macaron was not as chewy as others I have had in thr past, but was not too sweet. I did not try the donut so cannot comment on it. Overall, giving Morning Lavender Cafe a 4.5/5. Service is great and staff are quick and attentive. The teas were all good and most of the food is solid with exception of a couple of bites. I was not expecting the service to be that quick, so that was lovely. Now onto the donuts: I want to say that all of these donuts were tried late at night, and so I took into account that they were probably better in the morning (fresher!) Despite this, the dough on the majority of them was still very fluffy, and none of them were noticeably "stale". My friends and I each had a bite of every donut, and in the interest of saving time, I'm just going to highlight our favorites. Myself: The Cronut was unexpectedly my number one. It was the perfect mix of not too sweet/not too savory and was just fantastic. The texture and layering were perfect, and I loved the glaze. Just delicious. I also enjoyed the apple fritter (Classic) and the basic powdered sugar twist. My friend Marco lauded the quasi-cinnamon roll, which we all agreed was quite good, as well as the apple fritter (Good choice, Marco!). My other friend, Kat, was a big fan of the cinnamon sugar twist, as well as the glazed bar. We all agreed that the selection in the mystery box was varied and well-rounded, fitting for people with differing tastes. I also want to shout out the raspberry-filled croissant; low expectations for that one, but good. We will most likely come here again. Thanks, Mags!
