There's a cool Japanese "tornado" egg on it, which is really nice, texture-wise. Much better than just slapping an over-easy on top. Flavor was great. Bacon was great. This was one of my favorites. Tuna melt - I love tuna melts so I'll always order if I find one on a menu. This one was good. Like actual prepared tuna with kewpie. Definitely elevated from your typical diner fare. Also came with a side of sweet pickles - great to cut through the richness. Pork belly bowl - this is for you rice bowl lovers. Nice cuts of pork belly with a sesame sauce, delicious stewed kimchi, and Japanese style potato salad. Better than your typical bowls that just slap a bunch of things on top of rice. There's nice thought going into this dish and the stewed kimchi really packs that extra punch. Apple burrata salad - nice and light. With everything else we ordered being hearty, the salad offered a nice way to cut through the richness. Creamy burrata on apple slices with tomatoes. Bright flavors with the silkiness of the cheese to bind it all together. Truffle tots - get the tots. Top tier. Fresh, airy, and crispy. Get the truffle oil. We used to go to the Newport location, but we go to this location now because there is more parking, and the ambiance in this place feels lighter and more beautiful. Nice place with creative menu items. We were visiting from out of town for a softball tournament and, with Yelp's help, found it tucked away in a large strip mall. The menu isn't extensive, but it's nicely varied, with some very creative combinations. The avocado toast, for example, is not just bread with a few things slathered on top, but a piled-high creation with numerous different flavors and hidden under a large pile of greens. The acai bowl contents looked incredible on the menu. But if you want a traditional breakfast with eggs and bacon, or even vegan chorizo, that's available too. I stood there to place a Togo order, server told me 3x they would be right with me, but nothing. I guess you have to be on the waitlist for your order to be taken. I get they were busy but no one to help at the register. Multiple workers saw me standing there and couldn't take but less than 2 minutes to take my order. What a pleasant surprise this place was. A girlfriend of mine invited me here for breakfast and there was no disappointment except for the latte. I used to work in the coffee industry, and I can tell that either they use cheap coffee, they have not cleaned their espresso machine or their beans have been out for too long and are possibly expired. It is also possible that the grind is off or maybe it's something else. The latte tasted as if the coffee was rancid or old. My açai bowl was out of this world and my friends. I've had the food from their Costa Mesa location. I was really excited about the Tustin location opening up. I recall for the longest time we waited in anticipation for this restaurant to open. My first experience was with one coworker and we had the chicken and waffles and sisig burrito. Honestly, the taste of the food did not impress me and it was nothing special. Later on about a year later, I decided to try it with another coworker who had not been there. I was really hoping that the quality and taste would've improved but it was a letdown. I had the pork belly bowl and it was one of the oddest combinations that just was not executed well. The rice was extremely dry and crumbly, not even sure what type of rice this was, but I could not even finish it. The pork belly was strange, it was full of fat, but then the parts that had meat were extremely hard and dry, and no memorable flavor. It's almost as if it was meat that was left out and also the temperature of the food was lukewarm. And then there's the use of broccolini which was a strange texture where it seemed like it wasn't cooked and it was difficult to cut. You would think that having a fried egg would make everything better which it usually does, but there was nothing memorable about it except that it was rubbery. My coworkers seemed to be OK with their chicken sandwich and banh mi. The service was not impressive either as the food was simply brought out. Fortunately, we did have our water refilled once and that was about it. There was no other communication or checking in with us about anything. read more
