They make it fresh when you order and omg it's so good! It's not too dense but not too airy. Also, look at how pretty the donuts look? We got the coffee cake and the S'mores. Definitely recommend eating them while it's warm.
Stopped here to grab some ice cream from chocolate shoppe ice cream and while the ice cream tasted great the experience was pretty horrible. When I searched on Google for ice cream near me- chocolate shoppe ice cream popped up then upon looking further I realized it was sold within duck donuts. Still ventured to try it Two guys working, one said he was new, and didn't know where all the flavors were / allowed us to try some b4 we ordered but was a pain bc the flavors were spread between two freezers in front of store and whatever was in the back. Placed an order for 3 double scoop cups (all they had) and took a really long time to make them having to figure out where the flavors were between the front and back of store. Then. They didn't have lids to cover them or a bag to put them in - so we literally covered each cup with another cup and put in a box I had from Costco in my trunk to get them home without dripping everywhere in my car. And I say dripping everywhere bc by the time he finished the last cup/. The others were melted from taking so long. They should probably just stick to donuts if they can't fully support the ice cream products. If I knew now/ I wouldn't have chosen to try there for ice cream. Very unfortunate, bc we probably would have loved the ice cream - but the experience clearly trumped the product.
Duck donuts didn't do it for me. Dropped in after eating at the food court next door. While eating I noticed a couple eating donuts nearby. That sounds good to me. Duck Donuts is a place in a strip mall near the airport in Orange County. They advertise they are different because they make their donuts fresh and made to order for you. You design your own donut and they make it fresh for you. What a great idea! I decided to give it a try. I was a little concerned when I noticed their fryer was smoking a bit and there was a smoky oil smell in their store. The young server was very friendly and asked me to wait five minutes while he makes my delicious home made donut What he gave me looked like someone had stepped on a small donut?? Please look carefully at my pictures for photographic evidence of what they gave me. I bit into it and spit it out. It was an uncooked circle of dough drenched in days old oil. It was the worst donut I have ever seen or tasted. I brought it back immediately and gave it to the server and told him it was horrid, the worst I had every tasted. He said he was sorry but the person who knows how to change the oil and work the fryer correctly was out because of a family emergency. Okay, I understand, things happen in every business. You shut down, fix the problem, and open back up with things running smoothly. This place gets one star because they attempted to fool me that everything was fine when it was not. I left with no refund, no new donut, but hungry and $4.00 less in my wallet. He told me there was no way he could refund me. He tried to call me later with a refund, but I would need to give him my credit card number. I do not recommend this place.

I recently visited Duck Donuts cuz I like ducks. Overall, the donuts were fresh and tasted good -- you can definitely tell they're made to order, since you see them preparing your order, which I appreciated. However, I was a bit disappointed because I had thought (from seeing other post) that purchasing a dozen donuts might come with one of the regular "small" yellow duck as a novelty item. I think the worker said they have "free ducks" once a year there's promo day for it. I understand promotions may vary, but I was expecting that small extra touch to go with the name and was hoping for encouraging folks buying a dozen or two order. :(( And yes, while the donuts themselves were enjoyable, I did find the specialty donuts to be a tad expensive compared to what I anticipated. It was $30+ for the specialty dozen. The specialty flavor menu also changes with the season. I still enjoyed the donuts, I mean who doesn't on a Friday, and different flavors of the donuts.
Super cute place, and I love the duck theme! I got the blueberry streusel donut which comes with blueberry icing and a streusel topping. They served it warm and it was a great sweet treat! Price was a bit steep for a donut, at a little under $4. But overall solid spot for donuts in Irvine.
Swung by today for a sweet treat after seeing all the reviews, but unfortunately this place may be too overhyped. Duck Donuts is located next to Trade Food Hall in the rear corner of the plaza. The shop is cute and very on brand with the amount of rubber ducks that make up the place. Staff were friendly and quick to make our donuts. I got a strawberry confetti and maple glazed donut. The donuts were warm and fresh, however I wasn't a fan of the consistency (it was close to being mushy as the donut kind of fell apart as picked it up for a bite) or the aftertaste of the glaze. There's so many great donut shops in the OC to compete with that I'm not sure this place is worth going out of my way to visit. I really appreciate that everything was made fresh, but the flavors and consistency aren't for me.
A guilty pleasure! Duck Donuts never dissapoints! Made-to-order donuts are such a luxury, I love stopping by and seeing them make it fresh! The service is fast too, you can be in and out super quick. Parking over here sucks though, avoid the lunch rush. Lots of restaurants and plenty of seating outside to enjoy your sweet treat!
Yeah we have a number one ! I'm sorry but this makes voodoo donuts taste like a Dunkin's in comparison. The freshly made glazed donut is a great way to taste what the donut is without the magic. And it's soft, chewy and perfectly sweetened. However if you want a bang for your buck go with the maple bacon donut! Yes Bacon. Also the service was spot on. Quick but also not too fast as they cook the donut to order ! And I couldn't get over the ducks everywhere. Omg the way I wanted to waste all my money on every duck.
This is the place made me love donuts! I wasn't fan of donuts because of the sweetness and high sugar but this is different. They taste very fresh and the sweetness doesn't even bother, you just want to keep eating haha. Definitely worth to give a shot. The best part is you can customize your donuts, you can choose the flavor and topping so you basically do your own and the service is very quick. You can also enjoy the ambiance while you are waiting. There are cute small ducks everywhere and you can even buy one if you like! Overall 10/10!!

I was out and about found this donut shop. I did my research on yelp and found it to have great reviews. When I entered the shop I was greeted by staff. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I ordered blueberry pancake and French toast donut. The donuts are freshly made to order. Both donuts were delicious and very flavorful. Ambiance is customer friendly. A great place to go get a delicious donut. The shop has a great selection of donuts, pastries and sandwiches.
Duck Donuts is a small donut shop located outside an Irvine plaza with a decently sized food area. I'm not much of a donut person myself, but this is probably the best place I've gone to that had them. The variety is huge and they're pretty much ready to get once you order them. Both the donuts I had were amazing, and to me, that means a lot just because I typically have criticism against donuts I try. They were genuinely just good and not too much, just the right amount for what they're worth. I loved the sugar donut the most out of these 2 and would come back to try more. Overall, if you want donuts and you're in Irvine, you should stop by Duck Donuts! They have a lot to choose from and I can vouch for them being just right. Plus, there's a ton of fun ducks in different styles that you can even buy if you want on their walls. I love that small aspect of the shop.
My friend and I visited duck donuts near closing and they made our donuts so quickly! They make all their donuts fresh to order on a vanilla cake dough. The store is so cute, with walls filled with rubber ducks! Custom Donut: The store owner said that since they were closing, he just made my friend and I an extra donut. It had vanilla icing, graham cracker crumble, and salted caramel drizzle. This was absolutely delicious!! 9/10. Blueberry Pancake: This donut has a blueberry glaze, powdered sugar, and a maple drizzle. This was amazing, tastes just like its name. 9/10 The donut dough: it was so soft and almost melted in your mouth when it was freshly made. When I reheated in the morning, I got to experience how spongey and delicate it was. It wasn't dense at all, it was so airy. Overall I would give this place 5 stars! Only note is that I think the glazes are a bit too sweet which is why they're both 9/10s but that's it! read more

Such a cute spot! I love the vibe when you walk in here. Then all the donut variations you could want. It's a lot of choices, but our little stuck with his fav, chocolate, and it was delicious. It was a nice treat to have after dinner, great dessert before heading home. read more
We were waiting for our table at another restaurant in the plaza, so stopped by to grab a donut before it. We have been to Duck Donuts once before and loved the maple bacon donut the first time. This time, my kids wanted the cookies and cream. The donuts are made after you order it, so it does take some time. I felt that they were understaffed though because one guy was taking orders and making donuts, so he was running back and forth between the two tasks. I personally found the cookies and cream donut way too sweet, but my kids enjoyed it. But it's definitely nice that the donuts come out piping hot! read more

I've been a fan of this brand for years and I just learned that they are local. The donuts are super fresh and made to order. When ordering it makes sense to order 6 or more for a better price point. Plus, you should sign up for their loyalty program for added benefits. Now back to how amazing these donuts are. They have tons of delicious options and you really can't go wrong. Hands down the best fresh donuts I have ever had! What makes Duck Donuts extra special is that they make each donut fresh right in front of you after you order - warm, soft, and just the right amount of sweetness. They had such fun and unique flavors too. I went with a few of the rotating ones and honestly wish I had just gone all in with a half-dozen or full dozen pack. Flavors I tried: - Coffee Cake - Blueberry Pancake - Strawberry Iced The size is perfect, totally worth the price, and the service was amazing - super friendly and fast. My husband and I came here after we had a long layover at the airport. We got the boardwalk donut, a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, and a caramel macchiato. The donut was SO GOOD!! It was pretty much the only thing we really enjoyed from our order. They're definitely known for their donuts so I'd stick with that! The breakfast sandwich was mid at best. The bagel tasted a little stale and the egg and bacon felt like it was from McDonalds... respectfully. The coffee in the caramel macchiato tasted a little burnt as well. All in all this place is a great spot for donuts and if you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast sandwich!! It's close to the airport which is pretty convenient too read more

How did I not know about Duck Donuts!? It's a genius invention...a donut place where you can create your own donut. They have pictured donuts that are favorite creations, or you can tell the workers the toppings you want and they will make it. These donuts are made to order and warm upon arrival. I decided to get the Boardwalk and Sunset donuts - total yummy, gooey, deliciousness. I'm in total heaven, and the store smelled so good. I also love their decor - rubber duckies lined the entire restaurant...I love a good theme! You can buy the duckies and they even have one that goes toward charity! Ordered two donuts from Duck Donuts and loved the experience. It's unique in that you can fully customize your donuts and they have so many flavor options to choose from. They're generous with the toppings, and the dough is fresh. The donuts are a bit more dense compared to other shops, which actually makes them more satisfying and helps curb the urge to binge on a whole box (for those who are tempted like me). This place is a little hidden, but once you see it, it is full of personality! This place has a fun bright vibe to it! The employees were all super friendly. It was minutes away from closing, but they did not make me feel rushed at all! They were sweet attentive and gave wonderful suggestions when I wasn't quite sure what to get! The doughnuts were all wonderful! They are made fresh to order which is not very common. These doughnuts are a cake style doughnut which usually aren't my favorite. This place had good reviews so I thought I would still try it out. The reviews are all true! The cake wasn't too dense, which surprised me. The bread itself was delicious even by itself. We bought about seven different flavors and they were all unique and different. My favorite was the coffee cake style. There is a flavor for literally everyone. Since there are so many flavors you are able to pick the sweetness level and flavor profile you are in the mood for! My family was quite happy with these doughnuts! Was craving something sweet and chanced upon donuts on Yelp. Parking is decent in the plaza - note it's in the corner next to the food hall area. There were two employees when I walked in and they were super nice. The menu can be overwhelming since they have a ton of choices, but I settled for a variety of flavors. Note these are basically cake donuts so quite dense. They make each donut to order so it is HOT and fresh! The flavors are delicious, though they can be overly sweet. I had to update this review because it wasn't very fair. This place is an excellent concept. The donuts take a bit of time to get because they're freshly made per order. The staff is friendly when I arrived. It was a quiet early weekend, so I was pretty much in and out. I don't see how this location would be very good on a busy day. It would take too long to find a parking garage spot and get your order if there was a line of people. Buyer beware. Not real donuts. But they are sugary and delicious. read more

My absolute favorite donut shop! These are made to order, super soft and super sweet! They did just increase their prices slightly, but if you order a half dozen, or full dozen, it comes out cheaper per donut. I purchased a half dozen today and it was only $17! They just came out with a new limited time line of Cotton Candy donuts, so I had to try one. I went with the Cotton Candy Swirl, and it's not overly sweet like I was expecting. It's really good, and is really sweet, but it's not too much. At least not for me. I also had to get my favorite Blueberry Pancake. I always have to get that one! read more

This is the only place in town to get hot fresh donuts that are custom made. Everything is so good and fresh. The service is always exceptional and we paid a visit on 4/11/25, Friday and got served by Peyton. He was extremely helpful and very pleasant to deal with. Once we ordered our 1/2 dozen, he went to work and quickly made our donuts. This visit and experience was 10 out of 10 thanks to him. read more

Amazing donuts! Ordered: S'MORES - Chocolate icing with graham cracker crumbs & marshmallow drizzle. Once you order your donut, they will make it fresh and hot. It will only take few minutes. The best part about it ....is eating it right away while it is warm. When I bite into my donut, I can taste campfire flavors ...haha. It was so soft and so delicious. They also offer ice cream and different type drinks as well. Ambiance is very cute. You can purchase coffee mugs and even little duckies! From Chicago, first time at Duck Donuts. Great ambiance and service! Your donut comes out hot, made-to-order, and in any and every flavor you can imagine (and a few I couldn't). So many flavors, I couldn't decide. I eventually went with the coconut island bliss, which features chocolate, peanuts, and coconut : ) Truth be told, I really liked DD, but I would choose Sidecar Donuts in a heartbeat. Worth trying. This was our first time trying Duck Donuts. We were in the area for a conference and getting food at the nearby open air food court. We were promptly greeted and told about the donuts. I was surprised to see there were vegan options. I also love that the donuts are made fresh to order. Everyone was friendly and the wait was very brief. The donuts were good. I was craving something sweet today and realized this spot was around the corner from where i live. WOW! I think I have found my go-to donut spot! There are so many cute rubber ducks and an overwhelmingly amount of donuts to choose from (in a good way of course) I think what really sold me was the fact that they make the donuts by orders, fresh for you to eat. It was probably the best donuts i've ever had and will definitely continue to come back. The cashier was really nice as well! read more

I hoofed it from my hotel and noticed the parking lot is tight and no street parking but I believe the parking is free. They sell a wide assortment of tiny rubber duckies $2.50 + tax. Donuts made to order (customizable toppings) and about $3. Medium iced caramel macchioto (single shot espresso) $4.50. Very reasonable prices for good quality and good service. It's likely that if I'm near another Duck Donuts, I'll stop in. I recommend them. read more

I loved the fresh donuts, which are made to order. They were vanilla cake-based and surprisingly moist and light for a cake donut. I tried different flavors and particularly enjoyed the blueberry, French toast, maple bacon, and coffee cake. The interior was adorably decorated with little rubber duckies. read more
Ok, I'll admit this was a late night craving to get some donuts. So partially my reason for going was because they were still open. Don't get me wrong, I'm not disappointed at all. Sure I didn't read into this place as closely as I should have, but I gave it a try regardless of the fact everything is a cake donut base. I was looking for that classic old fashion, but will not complain with what I brought home. To start the names were definitely not what I was used to, but I tried a bit of everything. Everything I could get in half a dozen that is. To start off, I will say my lack of knowledge was well aided by the staff, as she was extremely helpful and patient with me. So I started with one of their seasonal favorites, the Pumpkin Coffee Cake, and it all went uphill from there. Chocolate Island Bliss Blueberry Lemonade Chocolate Covered Strawberry Chocolate Explosion Strawberry Shortcake (I believe) To top off the fun filled sugar night, I also ordered a Blueberry Shake. So what impressed me so much is how the same base vanilla cake donut could taste so different with their toppings, as they really gave a lot of flavor to each one. These are made to order so they come out nice and warm. If you have the time. Eat them there. So enjoy and I'll be back. read more

They still make vegan donuts, but you have to ask and they usually have to put the dough thru to make them.
What oil/fat do you use to cook the donuts? I heard it was duck fat but there's no information online to confirm.

We make a vegan dough and then the majority of our toppings and drizzles are vegan. The staff know exactly which are not vegan, depending on your need.

No :( I asked on my last trip in there, they said they haven't perfected a gluten free donut yet. They do offer vegan but that's not gluten free, I know! Hah
