I've visited on a weekend morning and a weekend evening and both times there hasn't been a line. There is a bit of choice overload with the flavors, once you've narrowed it down to what kind of flavor profile you're looking for, there's a few to pick from still! I have tried the blueberry streusel (yum), blueberry pancake (double yum), and the peanut butter fluff (triple yum). The icing does tend to melt off the donut a bit but I take no shame in scraping a little bit of ooey gooey goodness off the side of the box. The workers here are always kind and efficient. I have such a sweet tooth, and I always do damage when I come to Duck Donuts. You can build your own donut, but I usually pick from the preset menu because they have delicious combinations. My absolute favorite is The Beach (vanilla icing with cinnamon on top) - it tastes like a churro or a cinnamon roll. It tastes just as delicious - if not even more - every single time I come. I will say the donuts with all the toppings are super sweet, so if you can't handle that I would recommend to skip on the full icing coating and just get a drizzle! I stumbled upon Duck Donuts after our party had ramen in the same plaza. We walked in and were instantly met with the aroma of fresh donuts. She suggested the vegan chocolate and the vegan bare. She also explained that their donuts were made-to-order, which makes them unique to the just any donut shop. She was so nice and friendly, and was so patient with all the questions we had. It's a casual ambiance and small shop but you can see them making the donuts. They have an extensive menu of donuts and a variety of fun flavors. I tried their cinnamon sugar (most popular), bourbon caramel apple pie, bacon in the sun, choco-coconut caramel, s'mores, and double chocolate thin mints. Out of those six the bourbon caramel apple pie was my favorite as it was not overly sweet and the apple went so well with the caramel and vanilla flavors. My second favorite was the choco-coconut caramel donut but I may be biased because I love Girl Scout cookies and coconut! Service: Extremely kind workers and made sure to clearly go through how their store works! All their donuts are a vanilla cake base and you can basically customize your own donut with any toppings and additional flavors you want. They have a menu of popular and seasonal donut examples you can ask for. They make the donuts right when you order to keep them fresh and surprisingly the wait was not long. Also I heard they offer catering so that would be something you can consider for a party/gathering! My sister indulged and and got 3: maple bacon, Oreo and chocolate sprinkles, she didn't eat them all at once though lol she also tried the iced caramel macchiato she said it was better then than Starbucks, only downfall is they only have whole milk, I opted not to get one since I only drink almond milk. Nestled in the far-left corner outside of the TRADE food hall off Michelson in Irvine, parking here can be tricky during peak hours. The donuts took a bit of time to make, but they were piping hot and fresh! The glaze was oozing off the side of the donuts. It was amazing. Ok let me give a huge shout out to the team that was there closing on 2/14. I literally pulled up at 8:59 and the employees were kind enough to still take my small two donut order. So I came here because of a Groupon and instead of one I took two donuts home. This was also my first time. Spot looked super clean and cute location with some duckies at the checkout. Duck Donuts is the Coldstone or Chipotle or Blaze Pizza or any other location where you can customize and create your own donut to your liking. Imagine a place where you can create a freshly made donut with your choice of toppings; the possibilities are endless! Fortunately, if this is your first go, they have menus of the most popular donuts or even the current seasonal ones. You really cannot go wrong. The one caveat I do need to warn you though, the donuts are best fresh and right away. Even having the donut sit over a day could make it lose some of its awesome flavors and taste. Maybe my favorite donuts ever. I love all the classic mom and pop shops in OC and I love the gourmet doughnuts you find at sidecar and oliboli. But these? Made to order, customizable, hot and fresh every time. They are the perfect size to satisfy my sweet tooth but not put me in a sugar coma. The texture is perfect, light but still substantial. My favorite combo is the cinnamon roll but I haven't had one I don't like. Service is quick and friendly every time I pop in.
