Desserts are always essential after dinner. How can you not get desserts in the most Asian plaza in Irvine lol? Parking: The Diamond Jamboree is a very popular plaza. Finding a spot is a pain the a--. Highly recommend carpooling or get dropped off. Ambiance/Environment: Since they're located in a high foot traffic plaza, it was extremely busy and packed. We visited close to 22:00 on a Saturday, and there was a long line. Even though they have a medium sized space, it was a bit hard to maneuver around. Service: Despite having a long line, throughput was surprisingly quick & efficient. Pastries: Another thing that shocked me was how stocked they were on inventory. They were actually stocked on majority of their popular pastries in the evening. We always enjoy their sweet pastries! Pricing: Their prices are cheaper compared to other supply chain bakeries. Love this place! I used to frequent 85 degrees a lot back when I was still in school. Way back then they used to have a drink called sea salt mountain green tea, but it's no longer on the menu. Their drinks are pretty good! I really enjoy their sea salt jasmine tea. The floral notes from the tea are pretty bold, and I like that a lot. The saltiness from the foam on top complements the sweetness added really well. The dash of matcha powder sprinkled on the top helps underscore the floral notes from the tea. I like to get this drink with half sugar and less ice. Another favorite of mine is the ice blended taro drink. This one is a little on the sweeter side, but in a good way. Their pastries are alright! Their cakes are good too. It's a convenient way to get a cake quickly for a special occasion. Their rewards program on the app is nice and i feel like they frequently have some sort of deal going on, which is nice. Service at this location is good. It has been a while since I've had their breads and pastry items and there are so many new items that I have never tried. It looks like they have their own version of Guava and Cheese pastry and Cheese rolls that are very similar to Porto's Bakery. Sadly, I did not like the them, especially the Cheese roll. Coming by when I am craving some fresh bread. A big selection of bread and cake. My usual go to is the brioche, boroh, and hot dog buns. They also serve coffee and tea. I would pair my bread with sea salt iced coffee. There is not much seating in the store as you weave through the bread line to the cashier line. You can get something for breakfast, some egg tarts for protein after a workout, a cake for Mother's Day (mango, Black Forest, tiramisu, cheesecakes and more). They even have different sizes like round or rectangular! They offer birthday decor and a beautiful box to go. If you need a boba: they have teas, matcha, and even Vietnamese coffees! I grew up with 85°C Bakery, and it's still a household staple for us some weeks. It's one of those reliable spots that never fully leaves your rotation. My go-to buns are always the hot dog bun (even though it's definitely shrunk in size over the years) and the spicy sausage bun, which still delivers on flavor and has a nice kick. The pork sung bun is another favorite, the bun is slightly sweet and fluffy, and the savory pork floss on top balances it out perfectly. One small downside is the store layout, which makes it a bit difficult to browse and decide on items without already being in line. The cheese dog was okay, it's a bit on the saltier end, and the egg tarts were crumbly. The strawberry de leche drink was a bit too sweet and the sea salt cream strawberry green tea was decent. The drinks took a bit to be prepared, and we had to wait a bit to be served with the menu tv screen still turned off and had to be turned back on. They also didn't have the new bunny pin promo that was supposed to available with the purchase of 2 strawberry drinks so we ended up getting the bear pin. A bit sad that the food and drinks weren't the greatest. There's also no seating area inside the store, there's just enough space for a line, but there are some outdoor shared seating for the plaza. I have often come to this location to get my fresh bread and buns and this location doesn't disappoint. Located at Diamond Jamboree plaza with plenty of parking in the front of this store. Since this is a popular plaza there may be issues finding parking but just be patient as there is a lot to see. At this visit, I got their sea salt caramel coffee drink and it was delicious. There was a separate kiosk to order drinks and it is the smart way to bypass all the customers that are purchasing fresh pastries. Past visit experience were also good. You definitely have to come early during the day to get the best selection and variety of fresh pastries. Otherwise, fi you come during the afternoon there will be less options to choose from. I love Taiwanese desserts and baked goods, so whenever I see a 85 Degrees, I always make it a point to take a look inside. This particular location in Irvine is on the smaller side, with no seating areas available aside from several chairs lined up along the wall/walkway leading to the bathroom hallway. Despite this, they manage to carry all of the usual breads, baked goods, and desserts in an organized manner. I ordered the Pork Song Bun and the Half Moon breads to-go. The flavors were great and same as always. Their quality control across all of their stores are amazing! Overall, I love 85 Degrees and this location provided the same great quality I have grown to love. The only thing I would want would be an interior seating area in this store, but 7 Leaves in the same complex offers a place to sit and work if you need it. :) read more

The Hokkaido cream bun is so airy, the flavor is super mild but, the texture is everything. Same goes for the mango cream, it has these little round mango cookie bits on the outside, the cream is a bit more substantial than the Hokkaido but it's still super light and airy. I wrote my last review here fifteen years ago and it seems funny to look back at it. Back then, this location at Diamond Jamboree in Irvine was the first and only location in the United States. People were so hyped up about it, that they were driving from all over LA and OC to wait an hour for their fresh-baked breads. Flash forward to present times: they still offer the same breads; however, the fanfare has died out as they've now expanded all over California. Prices aren't the same as they were; however, I still can't resist their mochi egg tarts, which has contrasting chewy, crispy, and custardy textures with a caramelized sweetness. I also like to get their hot dog breads for a light breakfast and their milk teas and sea-salt coffees for a convenient late-night pick-me-up, when I need one. I'm glad that I no longer have to drive to Irvine to get these things; however, I can't help but remember the times when people waited in line for an hour to get their breads! read more

Stopped by for some sweet treats and was really excited to try two pastries with creamy filling - the Hokkaido milk cream bun and a custard-filled pastry. The picture in front of the pastries looked so good, so I was definitely looking forward to them. Ater taking a bite, I was super disappointed with how little filling there actually was. The photos I took are literally from one bite (i didn't scoop anything out). The pastries still tasted good, just not at all what I expected based on the pictures. I hadn't been to 85 degrees for a while but after watching the Santa Clause movies, my husband and I were craving hot chocolate and a quick Yelp search showed that this was one of the few places nearby that offered it. But, this wasn't just your average hot cocoa. They have a seasonal Ghirardelli hot chocolate with sea salt cream going on that was absolutely scrummy. I already love sea salt cream but adding it to hot cocoa is such a genius move. It totally balances the sweetness (and heat) of the chocolate. It was a busy night but the the staff moved quickly to get through the line. This location is small so there's no place to sit indoors but there is plenty of outdoor seating in Diamond Jamboree. read more

Came across this place while grabbing some Somi Somi so I decided to try it out. Let me start by saying the prices are FANTASTIC, value for money here is off the charts. The ambiance is pretty cool, fun to just browse around checking out all the unique stuff they have inside. The worker at the register was also very friendly, and patient with my kids being overloaded with choices. The grub, first off they have an espresso machine..... Had to try that out, went with the brown sugar oat latte and it was fun! I liked it, my wife hated it, but she can be a hater. It was good. Now the cakes, they aren't super special taste wise, really close to what you can grab at like a Safeway supermarket or something, but they are pretty tasty. Again, but they are SUPER cheap, that keeps this place solely in the 4/5 stars zone for me. They did have a whole plethora of other pastries but I can't try everything at once! This location is in Diamond Jamboree and is usually packed. By 8pm they've typically run out of items which is unfortunate if you're getting off work late or wanting a dessert after dinner. But I stopped by today on Friday around 11:30am and they were fully stocked. However just because of my usual experience here having to deal with low inventory and long lines, as well as nowhere to sit, I am taking a star away. This location is smaller compared to others I've been to. Also there is nowhere inside to sit!! So keep that in mind. Also music inside is a bit loud and mostly EDM which is kinda weird for a bakery. But otherwise the dessert and baked goods here are standard as they are at every other location, so this review is mostly about the ambiance, service, and ease of shopping. read more

The offerings here have been average at this bakery since the pandemic (2019-2020), not to mention the prices of ALL of their items significantly increased but the portions DID NOT. Now they're opening so many locations in California. Everything from I bought tastes superb. And it was hard to decide so I always bought a few things every time I stop by. The cheese dog and the marble Taro bun are delicious. The mini cheesecakes and a traditional Taiwanese style Pork Sung bun is made with soft bread, mayonnaise spread, then topped with dried pulled pork. are worth a try. Due to inflation, they had to cut down on food rations and the prices of everything went up a little bit, making the cake poorer quality and more expensive than before. Marble taro bread is the best!! Soft and fluffy with yummy taro center. Service was quick and the food section was fully stocked. I was a bit disappointed in the cleanliness - which is why I didn't give it 5-stars. The bathroom was pretty dirty with lots of toilet paper and trash. So as a creature of habit, 85°C Bakery often pains me because they always do away with my favorite breads: guava bread, mushroom bread (changed it then did away with it), honey bread, cranberry roll, cinnamon twist....I could go on and on! Luckily they still have the ham & cheese bread (my kids' favorite) and the Taro bread (my favorite). However, so many of my favorites have been done away with or are always unavailable (I'm that annoying person who stands outside the door to the back where they're baking the bread and asks the employees like I'll say "Do you have your 'xyz bread' today or when will you get it back?" and they always say they don't have it no matter what the time of day!) that 85°C has lost some of its' charm for me...Also their egg tarts bother me because (while they are delicious!), they are only filled about 1/2 way which is annoying they aren't filled fully like other bakeries do. I will come here like 10 times and only 1 time are they actually filled properly to the top. I wish 85°C would bring back more variety of menu items instead of just having the same items on display in multiple locations in the store. read more

Good ol' 85°C! It's the Taiwanese bakery of my dreams, and I've been dreaming about it since I moved away from Irvine. I used to visit 85°C frequently for cinnamon milk toast, and I just can't find anything comparable at other places. The milk toast here is the best. They didn't have milk toast when I visited, though! I'm only in Irvine once in a blue moon, so I was thoroughly disappointed, but only for a minute. This bakery has so many other goodies, including slices of cake and pudding cups, both of which my sweets-loving son and I ordered. This place is very popular, which you can tell by the long queue that wraps around the inside of the store. Fortunately, we visited at the end of the day and there weren't that many people, so we were able to get our desserts quickly. read more
