Atmosphere inside is amazing. Plenty of seating. It's so peaceful inside and service was amazing. The girls are so polite and very knowledgeable on making good suggestions.
Stopped in to try a new coffee spot and this one is a real winner. It's hidden in the commercial complex but it's very much worth seeking out. They have a real nice set up inside with a decent amount of seating both inside and out. The ambiance inside is very relaxing and much worth hanging for a bit, while you enjoy the coffee, which might I add is also well balanced and good. I got the cold brew with vanilla cold foam. The cold brew was well balanced and smooth. And that cold foam was the perfect amount of vanilla. There was only one barista but they were very kind. Overall, a definite spot to come back to and a definite reccomendation!
Lovely atmosphere. Great place to get some work done. Staff are extremely welcoming. Enjoyed the chai latte with macadamia milk.

Freelance Coffee Project was the perfect weekend pick-me-up between shopping and exploring! Dog friendly, lots of plants, and absolutely delicious coffee. I even treated myself to a POG DONUT!!? Say less. Service was fantastic! I'll definitely be returning to try more of their specialty beverages. :)
found this place on a whim! It has a gorgeous exterior and interior. They have a good selection of house made syrups and their prices are fair! My friend got a cap with their vanilla syrup and it was well balanced and tasty. I got their single origin pour over and it was also well balanced and smooth. This spot was pretty quiet so I could see it a good place to do work! There's some dedicated parking and street parking around the shop.
This place was pretty nice! Location wise, it was well hidden between office buildings. We came here on a friday and it was pretty busy. The parking lot was small though, so you for sure will need to do street parking in the area. The location was beautiful. A lot of green and open concept. It's a great place to hang out, work, study, etc. The drinks can be pretty pricey, but it's what you expect in Newport Beach. We ordered the strawberry matcha (in season) and a regular iced latte. Both were pretty tasty and refreshing, but both the size of the drinks were pretty small for that price - in total was $14. They do have wifi, but they kick you out after 1 hour, so it's pretty annoying if you're there for a while.

"mushroom powder enhancing" coffee. Tasted like a normal coffee with mocha flavoring. Nothing special

Easy to order at the front counter and they just call your name out to pick up items. Definitely returning for quick fix. Parking on the street or inside but it is limited

The space strikes a thoughtful balance between industrial minimalism and warmth, with lush indoor plants softening the look of metal stools and exposed elements and a cozy fireplace. There's also a small outdoor seating area that adds to its charm. We ordered the iced matcha lattes, which were excellent--smooth, well-balanced, and refreshing. However, when we visited around noon on a Saturday, there was not a single seat available. While the interior aesthetic is modern and distinctly hip, the actual seating is quite sparse. That said, we still appreciated the experience and were pleasantly surprised to discover such a stylish and thoughtfully designed café tucked into a mostly warehouse area.

The plants surrounding the area, inside felt super cozy sat at a table next to the fireplace, definitely in a hidden area surrounded by corporation plazas. Felt super earthy, warm and since I have never been here before, I asked the staff what is the most popular items on the menu. We ordered a vanilla latte and a Chagaccino. Flavors were very light and filling. They had your typical pastries did not get a chance to try them. Small menu, the only cons I had were not much parking space, and I wish the inside had more tables since it can get pretty crowded indoor. I did see some tables outside in the front, but they were wet, and it is cold outside so definitely did not want to be out there. I would come again since the ambiance was pretty neat.
One of the best ATMOSPHERES in the area! Very MOODY with lots of seating and a FIREPLACE. The coffee was also good. With water, bathrooms and WiFi, you can't really beat this as a study spot. The hardest part was the street parking but if you're willing to walk it's usually fine. read more

A very unique coffee shop with a dreamy interior and a variety of different tables/set ups. We had a bookclub here (only 4 people) and found the most perfect big table in the center of the place for group discussion. The table could def have fit 7 or 8 people. LOVED that it was indoor and outdoor. I got the strawberry matcha which was delicious and a vibrant green color! Authentic! And the staff here are all lovely. Only hiccups were the WiFi was really slow and there weren't any accessible outlets next to the tables. I think that's criminal for a coffee shop imo. read more

Absolutely a hidden gem. The parking sucks and there's hardly seating, but overall it's nice. The window ambiance makes you feel like you're in a cabin in Lake Tahoe if you get the seating by the fireplace. The service is great and our barista helped us choose a drink as it was our first time.z The vanilla latte is generic, however not overly sweet or bland. Perfect balance. 5/5. I got the mushroom latte I think it's called chagacinno or however you spell it. I loved it. I never knew mushroom coffee can taste so good and give the same amount of energy and caffeine as regular coffee. 5/5. Overall if you're looking for a place to sit and relax, you might have to be a hawk when people get up. The fireplace was the perfect spot for the cold. read more
very spacious and clean, lots of greenery as well. Indoor seating is slightly limited, there are some outdoor seating spots but they're are smaller. Glass cups are offered if you plan to sit there. I visited Freelance Project with my friend on a Wednesday afternoon to get some work done. There's a lot right next to the building so parking was no hassle. I love the interior design & how lively the plants made the space look. There was a great balance of people focused on their work or on virtual meetings & people socializing with their friends. I just got one of the pressed juice bottles while my friend got a matcha, which she didn't think was very memorable. I really liked this cafe for studying, & I'd visit again to try their drinks & food! read more

I absolutely love the interior of this coffee shop! All the plants give it a very relaxing vibe that makes you really want to hang out there and take it all in. They had the fireplace going and it was so cozy. Service was nothing memorable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The biggest downside here is definitely the lack of seating. Everything about this place screams "come hang out here" but we came to do some work on a not very busy afternoon and still found it tricky to find a comfortable place to sit. It seems spacious, but seating could be better. We just tried a chai and it was nothing to rave about, but I'll have to come back here and give this place another chance and try a few more things! Decided to go on an adventure and try a new spot yet again. Here we go! It's kind of funny because it is in corporate plaza so it's not really where you'd expect a coffee place like this to be. Vibe: Plants. Natural light. Cozy. Inviting. Open. These are all words I would use to describe this place. I looked to my left and looked to my right and seen a lot of grown adults sitting and doing their work here. There is this fun fireplace there that looked super cozy. I honestly wished I had more time to sit and stay because it seems like a place that I'd enjoy chilling at. Coffee: I had no idea what to get so I asked the really friendly girl taking my order what she liked. She said she liked the cortado both hot and cold. I wanted it warm so I got a hot cortado with vanilla syrup. It was delicious and I could tell that it was GOOD quality coffee. Food: I did not get any but they do have a case of pastries in case you're wondering and they look good! I'd definitely come back here. They totally have got it going on here. It was a gloomy day and I think they only rely on natural lighting, so the inside was a little dark for me to work! read more
The cutest coffee shop! Such a good ambiance to get some work done or relax at. The coffee was pretty good, albeit the pistachio was a little bit too sweet, so make sure to adjust the sugar if you are concerned about that. It is a little pricey for the smaller sized coffees but I'd say it's worth it if you plan on staying and getting some work done! The staff is very kind and they are pretty fast. read more

I'm in LOVE! There is so much to love at Freelance Coffee Project. It's in a business area so it can be tricky to find. Once you find it, parking isn't an issue. You immediately feel the cozy and welcoming vibes once you walk in. Absolutely love that there's so much space, all kinds of seating, merch to buy and the coffee counter that's appealing. Baristas are great - totally accommodating, approachable and friendly. The drinks they made for us are delish! We could totally taste the flavors and the freshness! read more

This place is outstanding!! From the outside of this coffee shop to the inside it's great! The inside is beautiful very spacious! The baristas are super friendly and give great customer service! Now to the coffee..... 5/5 The coffee was perfect! I got a cold brew the first time I went and the flavor was great! The pour over I got was the Chiapas Mexico one and I have to say it is one of my favorites! This will be another one of my go to coffee shops! read more

The staff are very friendly, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is beautiful with luscious plants which makes the industrial design very welcoming and cozy. I got an iced chai which was great and my sister had an iced americano and ham and cheese croissant. They also have vegan donuts which is a plus! read more

My friend is in the coffee business so I trust her with my coffee life (and non-coffee lives too), and she took me here. Super non-descript from the outside, looks like an office building. But then you walk in and it's part co-working space part tropical garden part bean roastery. Loved the industrial garden vibe, coffee was tasty and the counter guy helped explain what a Sparky was (espresso and topo Chico I think). Will be back! read more

Gorgeous coffee shop hidden by green leaves in Costa Mesa. Even though it's sweater weather right now, the chic decor and its urban aesthetics makes it feel like it's spring time. It's a peaceful vibe. The soul music playing is chill too and not too loud. Everyone there was focus in their zone doing work. Grind don't stop. We ordered the vanilla latte, matcha drink, and hot chocolate. The drinks were a 5/5. The coffee wasn't too strong like I wanted, but the creaminess and flavor is all there. The hot chocolate wasn't that sweet; just right. The croissant was also delicious. The cheese added a nice touch. I wished I found this place sooner. It's pretty low key and I would be down to come back and study here. Don't wanna gatekeep this spot because this deserves the spotlight ay! read more

Freelance Coffee Project is a great spot if you want quality single-origin coffee and a comfortable place to work or study for a couple of hours. The shop is beautifully decorated, and you can tell every detail was thoughtfully planned. It's a calm and quiet inside, so it's ideal if you need to focus on work / study. read more

Do you make your own syrups in-house or are they "store-bought" pumps?
Hi Sara! All of our syrups are made in house with our own recipes. Try out our Vanilla, Lavender, Maple, and Orange syrups in any of our drink offerings :-)
