This place was quite literally the definition of overhyped. The drinks were watery and the cream too was a weird consistency that was a little sticky. The coffee flavor did not come out at all and the matcha was not good quality. This place has been recommended on numerous places online and I cannot understand why. The size of the drinks were so small - especially in comparison to other matchas or coffee in OC that would actually cost LESS. Compared to airoma or tatys size, this was insane. The drink was short and the bottom tapered in like a funnel. Both me and my sister had stomach aches after and the foam started getting chunky as we walked around - we threw it out. The food was ok but there was like no chicken in the sandwhich we ordered, basically all bread and barely half a tomato. The place itself is pretty cute and looks to be a good place to study. I don't love that in order to access the building you need to pay to park at the lot across the street. Back with an update because I finally got my hands on the breakfast burrito. My cousin and I still make the drive from South OC for what is easily our favorite matcha in OC but this visit was all about the burrito. They were sold out the last time we came, so my expectations were honestly pretty high. I fear the hype is justified. It was a little oily but the flavor was insane. The protein to tortilla ratio was perfect every bite felt balanced and the sauce absolutely carried it over the finish line. If you've had the breakfast burrito from Sobuneh in LA, this is probably the closest thing I've found in OC. Ambiance is so cute and minimal. Service is great. Also parking is so easy. My hubby and I love coming to Stereoscope for their pour overs. They change out their beans often, so it's always a surprise of which ones they offer. Pour overs vary in prices based on which ones you get. The more expensive ones do not necessarily taste better, it just depends on your flavor profile. People who work here are all very friendly and they are always busy. There's plenty of seating as you can sit in the lobby of the business center as well as inside and outside the coffee shop. Stopped by here on our bike ride around Back Bay. Ordered a Pour Over (Peru Cerro Blanco) and a Morning Coffee (Columbia El Divisio - Estate). I was planning on trying a latte, but I am tired of places that are still adding a surcharge for plant-based milks. My Morning Coffee was lukewarm at best. When I shared that with the barista I was told that they could fix it. I think they steamed it instead of getting me a fresh cup. The coffee was good, once heated. The Pour Over was also good. Disappointed that there were no vegan treats to go with our drinks. We were there pretty early so not sure if they were out or just don't carry them. There is seating inside, but we opted for some cushy chairs outside. The outside seating is really nice. No bathroom at the coffee shop, but you can go into the office building and use their facilities. Not sure what options there are on a weekend. read more

I went to this cute little coffee shop located on the first floor of a business building, that opens up to the outside. It is around the corner from the Marriott Newport Bay. Hubby was getting an MRI across the way and told me to get some coffee while I waited. PLUS, if you ask for parking validation you get two free hours! If not, you're paying $1.15 every 15 minutes in the parking structure. The employees were friendly. I tried their Ganache Mocha which was creamy and chocolatey. I enjoyed the true flavors without having to add any sweetener. They serve breakfast all day and have pastries and other drinks. We will have to come back and try them another time. It is a great place to enjoy the weather and do work in their patio or the garden area nearby. read more

12/22/2025 MISO PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE Loved this! This was not like the usual pumpkin spice lattes sold at every coffee shop. The spices were not overwhelming, but had the rich flavors of fall in each sip. The miso had that undertone that brings an extra umami flavor without it being too prominent in flavor. The miso complemented the spices of fall. Enjoyed it! This was a seasonal flavor and I believe it may not be available by the time I post this review. CAPPUCCINO A bit of smoky flavor from the espresso. The coffee was from Peru with fruity notes of raspberry, white peach, and citrus honey. I wasn't a huge fan of their espresso pick, which tasted a bit sour. But they've done a good job at bringing an overall good mouthfeel with their milk foam. However, I would not order this again. GENMAICHA Got it hot and to go. Drank it while driving. Very deliciously nutty flavor of the toasted rice. You can taste the smooth matcha flavor coming through. It was surprisingly good and very soothing as you drink! Recommend! FINANCIER All financiers were moist and soft on the inside, yet dense on the outside. It had a lightly pleasant chew to it too. Just park across the way inside the structure and they'll validate your ticket for 2 hours. Had my usual strawberry matcha which was sooooo delicious. Perfect amount of sweetness, generous amount of fresh/finely diced strawberries, finished with just.a pristine matcha. Breakfast options are also interesting. Tried their breakfast burrito which was spectacular-thin outer wrap with perfectly cooked soft scrambled eggs, hash browns, avocado aïoli, and bacon (tho I asked for bacon to be taken out for mine). This was truly amazing and I highly recommend Also tried the ultimate brioche bun (fried egg, tomato, arugula, avocado spread, house made hot sauce on brioche) and grilled chicken and pesto sandwich (ciabatta, grilled chicken, oesto, tomato, and basil). Both were ok but not a fan. Don't think I'll be trying it again soon. Still a great place to sit to do some work as you sip on matcha and a light breakfast. Really impressed with Stereoscope! They have a wide array of elevated pour over coffee bean options that I was interested to try, but ultimately I went with the house-made Madagascar Vanilla Latte after confirming that the syrup was dairy-free (vegan). I got a 12oz Quad Almond Milk Madagascar Vanilla Latte, and the gorgeous and fresh vanilla flavor combined with the punchy strong espresso shots was very satisfying. The spot was bustling and although the counter was minimalist, I liked the desert cave atmosphere and the art on the ceiling. Parking in the big parking garage (which looked to be dedicated to resident parking or corporate parking for apartments or offices nearby) was a pain, but Stereoscope fortunately validates so the visit was free. Fair pricing, friendly service, damn good (strong) coffee. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely go back. read more

I'm gonna review this spot again and stay strong in my 2 star review. My matcha latte as you can see (left) is a gorgeous green but my friend's matcha (right) looks strange. She got the strawberry matcha but the color looked really off. After trying it, the drink tasted like sugar and strawberries. It's sad to say because my matcha latte was delicious and I'd give it a 4/5 but my friend's drink was 1/5; the inconsistency is just wild. They said the strawberry matcha only has 20 of matcha and the regular latte has 60, which I think is strange. If they have less matcha in a drink it should be clearly advertised IMO... read more

The indoor space that's outside of the coffee shop has really cool vibes and good place to work/study, but just remember, parking is not free. You can taste the richness of the coffee and matcha. We also ordered an almond croissant and their grilled chicken and pearl sandwich on ciabatta bread. Their sandwich was so good! The croissant was very good as well, buttery and flakey. The cafe has seating inside and outside. Parking across in the garage, and some out front. Parking: My first time here, I didn't know they can validate your parking for two hours. I just parked on the nearby 5 minutes visitors parking spot and walked over. Wait time: I got there at 8 am and there were 4 people in lines. They were a bit under-staffed so I had to wait for them to finish making the drinks before I could order. Morning Coffee (8/10) - The coffee was on the sour side and didn't taste bitter surprisingly. It also came with the perfect warm temperature. It smells good with rich coffee bean aroma. Today's visit was the worst. Barista would not give his name but receipt is posted. He gave us a lot of pushback and insisted that's how they make the drink and is the default. So if we wanted a medium, you give us a large? So if we wanted more ice, you give us a large? So what was the point of ordering a medium if "you" think a large would be appropriate with what we ordered. So it's not what we want, it's what the default your customers will be getting?! Then he claims maybe we ordered it wrong or forgot what we ordered last time. First and second time we visited stereoscope Jayden has helped us out both times. We ordered the same thing. We don't understand why there was an issue and made us feel we were problematic customers. He also asked if we were family or friends of Jayden. Again, I don't understand the interrogating questions. I brought home a bag of beans that I bought at this location, and they were not very good. They had a very pungent smell... I was very skepticla/nervous to even try the beans because of the smell, but I made a latte. I took one sip, and said NOPE! It was not good. I got a latte when I was in the shop buying the beans, and it did not smell or taste like the the latte I made at home. Needless to say, we tossed the beans. My friend and I came for Saturday brunch and waited 30 mins in line, but got our drinks pretty quickly after ordering. This time I got the Spanish Latte and breakfast burrito! This is my first time at this Stereo Scope location in Newport Beach. It is hidden in a business complex. There is a parking structure across the way. Take your ticket with you. They validate parking for up to 2 hours. In comparison to my regular go to Location in Long Beach, this one feels a little bit larger on the inside with a total of about 5 or 6 small tables, 4 of which are hidden in a secluded and cozy back corner of the shop where you'll find another entry door that seems to be an access from the building that the shop is located in. There is lots of outdoor seating in a pleasant and relaxing, urban park setting. The interior of the coffee shop is simple with white walls and globe shaped pendant lighting. I couldn't help but notice the beautiful 3D like ceiling art which is eye catching. It looked as though it was an image that was being projected onto the ceiling but i did not see a projector anywhere. If it is, it was probably hidden from sight. I recently reviewed the Long Beach Location where i had their Mocha which was really delicious. Today i had a honey latté with oat milk. That was also excellent. They offer a quality product that you can taste. Their menu is varied with several categories that range from coffees to Lattés to non-espresso drinks to specialty teas, and all with interesting choices and combinations. They also have non dairy options. It seems the menu varies a little bit from one location to another. This Newport Beach Location has an all day breakfast menu with lots of attractive options that the other location did not have. And vise versa. The Long Beach Location has a Pour over menu that i did not see at this Newport Beach Location. I'm not personally a fan of pour over style coffee so, it did not matter. The service is excellent. Everyone is friendly. Prices are in line with other specialty coffee shops. I once again highly recommend StereoScope. read more

I frequent stereoscope to buy their beans to make espresso/lattes at home. I love going to this location but their service is inconsistent. Ordered a Caesar wrap & was asked if it was for here or to go & since I was with a friend & we were catching up before heading out to Fashion Island we opted to eat there. I also ordered a matcha lightly sweetened as well as a bag of their beans. I was told that the wrap would take 15-20 minutes & we were in no hurry. My friend got her burrito & they had called her name and walked to our table to drop it off. Some time had passed & finally someone called my name & said my order had been "waiting for me" at their to go station. ?!?! I don't know how long my wrap was sitting there because I just assumed they would bring it to my table just as they did with my friend's burrito. If I had known they were going to wait on me to grab it I would have been paying more attention to their counter.
