Started my morning here with family for a caffeine boost and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the berry matcha, which comes with oat milk by default, and really enjoyed it. The sweetness was perfectly balanced and the berry flavor didn't overpower the drink. The matcha quality itself was just okay, the drink as a whole came together well. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10. Also got to try a few sips of what my family ordered, including the 'purple dream' and 'strawberry alarm clock' which were both solid. There's plenty of parking in the plaza and even around the corner, plus a spacious interior with lots of patio seating. A nice spot for a chill morning coffee run. I stopped by after walking a loop around Castaway Park since it's conveniently within walking distance. I probably wouldn't recommend trying to park in the plaza, though--the parking is very limited. I ordered a regular matcha latte with almond milk and was pleasantly surprised that it was $6.50, especially since many places are charging over $7 now. I placed a mobile pickup order after being warned by some friends that the line and crowd can get pretty bad, especially on weekends. I do wish I had timed my order a bit later into my walk, as my drink ended up a little watered down and the matcha flavor wasn't as pronounced. This review is for the 17th street location. I usually go to the new location at the Newport library but it's closed on Sunday. At the Newport location, the ABJ toast is excellent and comes with this amazing yuzu jam. Here, I'm pretty sure it's smuckers but you're still paying $9-10 for a pretty thin toast . And they're don't put jam on the whole piece, just a dollop in the center (not so at the Newport spot). Granted, I just ran 19 miles and I'm a little hangry and disappointed that reality didn't meet expectations (that yuzu jam...so good). Americano was fine, though they served it in a cup for a cappuccino, which felt odd. Probably a better experience if you get a milky drink and one of the non-vegan roasts or burrito. read more

I wasn't feeling the place until I took a sip of my drink. Entire thing was infused with strawberry, not just the cold foam. My favorite drink is their Strawberry Alarm Clock, which is just a strawberry latte. I would recommend it full sweet if you want the full strawberry flavor. I usually get my lattes half sweet, but this one tastes better full; the strawberry flavor gets diluted when it's half sweet. Their breakfast burrito is decent for a quick breakfast as well. The main downside of this place is the size. It's tiny and cramped and there are always so many people waiting for their drinks, that they crowd all the tables inside. I needed some big fueling for a long row session out in Newport. I stopped at Kit and grabbed a latte and a breakfast burrito with bacon. The latte is pretty standard and satisfying. The burrito was a surprised. It was loaded with bacon throughout and they toasted it so the tortilla was crispy making it a panini style burrito. Parking: there is a parking located in the plaza. There are many available parking spaces including some directly in front of the store. Just beware to not park in the stalls that are marked as reserved. Parking here is easier and more convenient than Irvine location. Food: Thank you berry matcha latte (10/10)- matcha latte with strawberry milk (oat milk), the matcha was extremely creamy but the strawberry flavor shined through and complemented the matcha flavor so well. It wasn't earthy or grassy (maybe try somewhere else if you prefer grassier matcha). I also thought original was great but I liked it even more when I asked for less sweet! Triple Single Matcha Latte (9/10)- matcha latte topped with strawberry cream topping. Again, matcha was so creamy and flavorful. I do prefer the thank you berry matcha a bit more because I think the strawberry flavor shined through more. However, the cream top was still really great. My favorite thing at Kit is the almond milk cappuccino that I order. I don't know why they just do it right! It can be crazy there on the weekends with so many people waiting to order. So I choose my times wisely, and try and go at odd times when I can find parking easily. It's nice be able to sit and relax for bit and take a break for yourself. I like that they have a wide variety of food options along with their drink menu (coffees, teas, etc.) customer service is always super friendly and there's lots of indoor and outdoor seating (with some shade and non shaded areas). Restaurant aesthetic is super clean and simple and they do also have some cute cards available for purchase. The only downfall I've noticed when both eating in person and moreso takeout is on the weekends this place will get absolutely packed and the order ready times are often not accurate as they are so backed up with orders (especially on nice days).
