This is a very unique place located in the affluent heart of Newport Beach. It is an old fashioned, quaint, mom and pop style cafe that makes their own coffee. We dropped by just before they close at four in the afternoon to get some coffee and have the most amazing carrot cake. It reminds me of my days in Santa Barbara or parts of San Francisco. The inside is all wood. There is a patio, plants everywhere. This is a very unique location. The coffee that I had was very good. The carrot cake was homemade. We did not order any food this time. I ordered the Surfer's Burrito with the enchilada sauce on the side. Unfortunately, the "enchilada" sauce didn't taste like enchilada sauce at all. It was more like marinara or canned tomato sauce. It really missed the mark and wasn't very flavorful. I also tried the iced chai because of all the hype, but it was so overly sweet that I couldn't taste any actual chai. Definitely disappointing. Service was slow, although I understand I came during the Saturday morning breakfast rush. The atmosphere didn't help either. If you sit inside, it's freezing. If you sit outside, it's also freezing, and there are no heaters. There's barely any natural sunlight, so it feels dark and not very welcoming. The outdoor seating consists of old metal patio chairs that look like they've been around since the 1970s, not exactly comfortable or inviting, and they didn't feel very clean.
