I'm so glad I finally tried this place... it was my first time here and the baristas were so helpful and sweet! I ordered the Basic Bitch latte and a lox bagel added capers! It was soo good. The latte was the right amount of sweet and bagel the right amount of zesty. Everything was quick and fresh! We also ordered the thickly thicc - the americano was strong with a hint of sweetness. The location is right off the freeway so super convenient. It's cute and pink so can't miss it, but really small. We went through the drive through. There is also a walk-up counter to order from, however, not too many parking spots or seating area. Pretty much a grab and go spot. I will definitely be stopping by here when I'm in Costa Mesa. read more

I always drive by this little pink building tucked between a gas station and an auto repair shop, and there's almost always a line of cars out to the street. After seeing that for about a month on my way to and from work, I finally had to see what all the hype was about. The menu is on the smaller side, but it's got a nice variety of specialty coffee drinks, lattes, matcha, fruit drinks, teas, and a handful of food items like fresh bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. One thing I thought was really cool was the service. While you're waiting in the drive-thru line, the friendly staff comes out to take your order before you even get to the window, which helps keep the line moving and adds a nice personal touch. I ordered the Bananarama and the Lox & Loaded bagel. The Bananarama is a brown sugar latte with banana sweet cream, and it had a nice smooth coffee flavor with just the slight amount of banana. It was refreshing and tasty but it didn't quite blow me away like I was hoping it would. The Lox & Loaded came on a toasted everything bagel with housemade garden veggie cream cheese, smoked salmon, and sliced red onion. The bagel was fresh, and loaded with plenty of cream cheese and salmon. Everything tasted fresh, and the flavors worked great together, especially with the onion giving it a nice little bite. Overall, I enjoyed both items, but I've definitely had better lox bagels that really impressed me. Same goes for the coffee. It was tasty, but it didn't knock it out of the park for me. Absolutely love coffee dose. On our way to Newport for a beach day and stopped at this location. For me the parking was a big difficult so I ended up parking at the gas station and walked right over. I ordered the Basic Bitch with banana sweet cream. It was delicious. My daughter ordered the quickie which is a frozen vanilla latte and she wasn't a fan. Cutest little coffee stop! Drive thru was busier than the in person line, regardless coffee came out efficiently! Employees are really sweet and courteous here. They have a couple benches outside to sit and wait but that's about it. This is a small shack stand with no inside seating so it's not ideal for studying or catching up with friends. Definitely more of a grab n go. Parking is extremely minimal, probably around two regular slots and two handicap slots. I was craving matcha over coffee so I got the Bananarama matcha with oatmilk! Strong green color, although gets really milky midway. Drink was tasty but not sure I'd be coming back for it. I know this cute quaint little spot is a lot more popular for their coffees themselves so I'll be returning to explore the menu more! read more

If Barbie opened a coffee stand in Costa Mesa and hired a team of caffeine-fueled hype specialists, it would probably look a lot like Micro Dose. From the moment I pulled into the drive-thru, I couldn't stop smiling. The entire building is painted pink (what girly girl doesn't love pink?) from top to bottom, complete with playful signs, cheeky drink names, and enough personality to brighten even a gloomy morning. It's impossible not to enjoy the experience. I ordered the "Lox & Loaded" bagel which had plenty smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion, and toasted sesame. I had only wished I asked for extra cream cheese as I love my bagel extra loaded. The bagel was flavorful, and satisfying. I mean even the packaging is adorable with a cute statement of "You deserve a little treat." I also had an iced flavored matcha. The "Banarama" (feels like a throw back song I know, oh the nostalgia!!) matcha was smooth, with a creamy banana top. It was refreshing and bursting with tasty banana cream pie memories. The moment you drive in you notice this place is not a regular run of the mill coffee shop. It's set apart from other coffee places by its clever branding, creative menu, and its whole concept. The pink building grabs your attention, but the signage and menu keep it. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail. For those wanting to enjoy the outside experience there is a walk up window for ordering and a few parking places in the front. The service was friendly, efficient, and upbeat, making the experience even better. I was handed a menu upon driving up and they patiently waited on me to decide while making small talk and laughing with me. For the girlie girls this is a must! first time trying this coffee shop as i was getting my oil changed near by and thought it looked so cute from the outside. service was super nice and my drink came out so fast! i will preface by saying this is just my review from the drink i tried and while service and vibes were wonderful, flavor wise it was just okay. it's kind of funny that the name of the drink i got is "thicky thicc" when it's an americano (which is an espresso with added water) but i'm assuming the name refers to the cream top but the cream top didn't do much for the coffee/drink itself either (just very one note and did not add that "thicc" creaminess to the drink). i'd be willing to come back to try their other drinks and hopefully find one i would enjoy more. read more

To be honest, when I saw Micro Dose pop up in my Yelp search, my first thought was that they had a bit of an unusual name for a coffee shop. However, after stopping in for a quick afternoon pick me up and reading that this place is part of the Coffee Dose family of shops in OC, not only do I totally get it now, but it also makes perfect sense! Not to mention the fact that a "dose" of the coffee here really did wonders to keep the rest of our day (and night) going! While their driveway may be easy to miss (it's the third one from the corner), and despite how they're essentially a small hut with a drive thru, Micro Dose certainly stands out. Their bright pink color scheme is obviously a big part of it, but their menu is also so unapologetically sassy. On the more basic end, they have your standard array of coffee and tea, as well as "boujee" options, like matcha lattes, vegan caramel lattes, and kombucha, and a terrific selection of toasts, croissants, danishes, and pastries. However, their specialty drinks (and their names) are what make the menu really unique - the Basic Bitch (vanilla latte), The Quickie (frozen vanilla latte that you can make "sticky"), the Thicky Thicc, a healthy root beer, and more. -- NOT YOUR MOTHER'S LATTE - Espresso (or Matcha) with Oat Milk, Housemade Coconut Syrup, and Pistachio Sweet Cream Opted to get this with the espresso for the caffeine kick, but I wonder what this tastes like with the matcha. In any case, I liked it. While it's definitely on the sweet side, I liked how flavorful the coconut syrup was and that the pistachio sweet cream wasn't overwhelming. -- THICKY THICC - Iced Americano with Fresh Housemade Sweet Cream Pivoted to this after we were told that The Quickie mixture was a bit watery at the moment and it wasn't too shabby. Not only did this have a nice hit of caffeine to it, but the sweet cream was really good and not quite as sweet as the pistachio sweet cream. In addition to how small Micro Dose is, their entire lot is pretty modest as well. The drive thru loop accommodates about a half dozen cars (they have a worker outside who takes orders, much like how Chick-fil-A and In-N-Out do it, so I could see the line extending out to the street during peak hours, but the workers seem to get drinks out fairly quickly. Otherwise, they do have a walk-up window that you can order from, as well as some seats/benches, but there are only a few parking spots, so that can be hit or miss unless you park elsewhere and walk over. Between how good the coffee is and how friendly and nice the workers were, Micro Dose is a great spot for a caffeine fix, whether it's to get your day going or to keep it going. If/when I'm back out this way again, I definitely wouldn't mind coming back to try some of their other drinks, as well as their some of their pastries, like their Guava Cheese Danish, Churro Donut, and Lemon Loaf! read more

This mainly drive thru coffee shop is a staple in Costa Mesa but man it's not fun if you go at the wrong time and end up in the car line often backed up onto Newport Blvd. The other morning I was able to swing by very early in the morning on a Sunday so glad I got to treat myself. Picked up a cold brew with simple syrup and almond milk. It felt like it took a bit longer than usual sitting there in line waiting for my drink, but once I got it all was good. I always drive by this place, and there's usually a line wrapped down the street. Today, I happened to drive by again and, for once, there was exactly one car in line just enough room to pull into the driveway without blocking traffic. The coffee Gods were on my side today! I ordered the Matcha Bananarama and the Lox & Loaded, and OMG.... everything was so good! The Matcha Bananarama was sweet but not overly sweet, and it actually tasted like banana (imagine that!). I've had plenty of banana drinks where the banana flavor is barely there, but this one delivered. If you're going to make a banana drink, commit to the banana and they absolutely did. So delicious! And the Lox & Loaded... *sigh* I told my boyfriend I'd give him the other half, and honestly, I instantly regretted it because I wanted to eat the whole thing myself after the first bite BUT sharing is caring so I begrudgingly gave him the other half. The toasted everything bagel was loaded with cream cheese, smoked salmon, and a generous amount of red onion. Every bite had the perfect balance of ingredients. Would I come back? 100%!!! Microdose is pretty much the drive thru version of Coffee Dose, which is one of my all time favorite coffee shops. While the drive thru itself is pretty narrow and can sometimes back up into the street, the drinks make it completely worth it. Everything I have tried has been consistently good and hits the spot every time. The food menu is definitely smaller than their flagship locations, but that is expected for a drive thru focused setup. I usually come here for the convenience and a quick caffeine fix, especially when I am cruising through with my dog Bennie. It is such an easy stop when I want great coffee without having to park or get out of the car. I've become a regular here, and for good reason! Every single girl who works here is so kind, welcoming, and efficient. One thing I really appreciate is that even when there are only a couple of cars in line, someone will come outside to take your order so the drive-thru keeps moving as quickly as possible. They've really figured out how to make the drive-thru experience fast without sacrificing great service. The drinks are also absolutely worth the price. At a lot of other coffee shops, you end up paying the same amount for a much smaller drink, but here I always feel like I'm getting great value. I'm a huge matcha snob, and I order the iced matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla every time. They make it perfectly every single visit, which is honestly hard to find. A fun spot with a unique vibe! I am a sucker for drinks with turmeric so that led me in. The drink with turmeric is called the Goldie and it is really good! I also love Mary matcha when I'm feeling like a tea. The light notes of lavender are quite delicious. The customer service is always great! It can get pretty busy but the line moves fast. The lady in the car in front of me knew all the employees and was laughing and chatting it up while ordering and also at window while getting the drink. They all knew each other. Tall cacti grow around the tiny baby building. I tried to go there once after work but they were already closed for the day which was how I learned about the pink cones. But then I got lucky later that week and was able to go BEFORE work when they were still open. The girl taking orders in the drive thru was so sweet and when I said I wanted a matcha with oatmilk she said they had a banana matcha?? and a blueberry??? Located right across from triangle square in Costa Mesa off of the 55 freeway. You really can't miss it as they have a huge light up Microdose sign and the building is bright pink. Only ding is the parking lot is not the largest with only two parking spaces and leaves the rest for drive through which maybe 9 cars at most can fit through so peak hours it can be ROUGH to get in! Otherwise this Microdose mostly caters as a drive through hence the micro name but apart of the coffee dose fam. The drinks are pretty solid but can be pretty sweet. My second time here was much better as I really enjoyed the basic bitch latte($6.50). The bagels are also delicious here and recommend the OG OC ($8.50) as the avocado mash, Lemmon pepper and cream cheese were delicious! My friend had me try The Quickie a few weeks back and now I get it every time I'm in the area. Get a dash of cinnamon in it! Soooo good! I do recommend not getting this right when they open. It takes about an hour for the drink to be the frosty consistency so at 6am it's pretty much just an iced coffee lol Food wise, not a huge fan of The Popper. I think the capers were a bit much for me but we (my son and I) enjoy the cinnamon pull apart and banana bread. Their service is super friendly. It's a drive thru spot and although their lines may be long, I've found it to go pretty quick. They do have the order window but there's only about 2 spots to part your car. read more

Stopped by after getting a super disappointing matcha from another spot, and this definitely made up for it a bit. The place is sooo cute--bright pink building, fun branding, everything about it just makes you wanna take pics. I got the iced matcha with oat + vanilla sweet cream and it was a 7/10 for me. My friend got it with whole milk and gave it a 7.8/10--she said it was solid, not her fave, but dependable. She did say she wished it was a little more earthy, but if you're not into earthy matcha you'd probably like it just the way it is. The drive-thru girl was really nice. I tried to get a chocolate chip cookie but they were out, so I grabbed a sugar cookie instead--didn't realize 'til we got to the window that it said "anti bitch" on it which had us laughing.
