Kit at the Library is a game changer for Newport Library Food and matcha is so good!

I needed a quick pick me up. This cafe provided delicious coffee! I grabbed a decaf drip coffee. Service was kind and immediate. There's plenty of seating all around the library to just enjoy your drink in a quiet setting and good work. The cafe is small and cute - located in the lobby area, on your right, as soon as you go up the stairs from the main entrance of the library. God bless you all.

Kit at the Library Cafe opened this past April 2026 on the 2nd floor of the Newport (Avocado Street) Library. They open at 9am. Cash and Card accepted. Cafe tables situated in front of Cafe indoors and outside. Children's story time is held in the 1st floor of the library, so grab your warm/cold drink and watch during their story-time hour at the Children's section. The long awaited coffee house finally opened with a success! They offer delicious flavors of Matcha and a variety of Coffee options. Our favorites so far have been their Ube, Strawberry Matcha and Orange Creamsicle plus other coffee varieties. What's my favorite part of Kit at the Library? Take a guess of which Barista I describe? There is one who has the brightest smile? The one who looks like she is an Olympic Volleyball Player/ Athletic Swimmer, another fellah that is a college graduate, shy with a sweet disposition, to another that stays quietly hidden making coffee and, the cool guy there who reminds me of Uniqlo brand clothing advertisements? They are a great group there to welcome you, serve and help make your study or relaxing time at the library better. Kit at the Library is so efficient with their 3-4 people team; one person takes your order, another prepares the cups and ingredients, someone else makes the coffee or tea fresh, hot to serve. Hungry for a snack? They prepare foods, pastries and snacks. Many bakery items are Gluten Free cupcakes (Raspberry, Lemon, Mixed Blueberry), Banana Cake, Croissants (Butter and Chocolate filled) and many more. There are busy times but it ebbs and flows as well, so be patient with their popular cafe and do give this hardworking team a tip, they earn it!

Love KIT on 17th and KIT at the library is no different. Always great quality drinks and the convenience can't be beat when you're at the library. Got the lemon bar cold brew and it was 10/10. Highly recommend checking it out. $8.50 for the cold brew is a bit pricey but what isn't these days.

Dear Yelp, First time visiting today. So glad the library has this new coffee shop because really enhances the desire to visit. The actual small counter space is well-designed, and my hope could be that the tables and chairs, or some other décor near the counter could be changed to have a more cozy coffee shop feel. I ordered a steamer with honey...something simple this time, and was very happy with my afternoon break. Friendly barista. Continued well wishes. Sincerely, Anna

Parking can be a little tricky depending on the day because of street sweeping, so keep that in mind. The café offers both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a nice option. It can get pretty busy inside since it's counter-service and the dining area is on the smaller side. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and the service was friendly with smiles all around. There were three of us in our party--my mother, my grandson, and me. My mother ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, I had the California breakfast burrito, and my grandson ordered the Rose Benedict with the hollandaise sauce on the side. The portions were fair and satisfying, leaving everyone happy with their meal. If you're in the Corona del Mar area and looking for a quick breakfast, brunch, or snack, I definitely recommend giving Rose Café & Bakery a try. It's a charming neighborhood café with great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

My sandwich was decently hefty which i appreciate and VERY filling. The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars is because it is a NIGHTMARE trying to park and/or eat here on weekends. Long wait and it's a pain to try and order inside because it's packed to the brim. If you want to order take out though i think that's a slightly better option during busy hours since there's a kiosk outside that you can order from.

We got three sandwiches, two pastries, a coffee, smoothie and their wellness shots. The establishment was bright, clean and welcoming. I love the pops of pink everywhere. Jamie said the bread and pastries were imported from Denmark and everything was delicious. It's almost like a flatbread that holds its crisp, all without hurting the roof of your mouth. We got a spicy caesar, tunacado, and the steak. All sandwiches had fresh ingredients but the steak was my absolute favorite. I got the trust your gut smoothie, and it tasted good. The turmeric shot with extra ginger went down really smooth. The banana bread was delicious but the carrot cake was even better. I was overly impressed by this place, easy to find in the mall, welcoming staff, clean establishment and food were good and easy to enjoy at the beach, I can't wait to go try other flavors of smoothies and sandwiches. Can we also talk about how cute and practical their packaging is?!
