Large Yuzu Mango Matcha Latte (IG: @christal.light)
    Christal M.

If you're in the Crystal Cove area and in need of a caffeine boost, this place has great drinks especially if you're into Vietnamese coffee. Blk Dot has a few locations in OC but this is one of the nicest ones being in the Crystal Cove shopping center right along PCH with the ocean just across the way. On a weekday morning it was quiet and my order was ready right away. They're known for Vietnamese coffee, but they have other coffee and tea drinks too. I had their Yuzu Mango Matcha Latte ($7.95/large) and it was very refreshing. I could taste the citrus yuzu and it had the right amount of sweetness. It was perfect with whole milk but you can also sub for other milks. They have some tables inside as well as outside. It's a nice spot to grab coffee with a friend or do some work.

Stopped to have my favorite Vietnamese coffee at Blk Dot coffee in Newport Beach. . Today I tried the light were was perfect. Not to sweet! And we had the matcha latte. Both were delicious. They had a steady flow of customers coming in, but it wasn't so crazy of a wait time. If you're looking to stroll the area I recommend trying their coffee if you haven't already. I highly recommend! .

YUMMMM Ordered a Yuzu Mango Matcha Latte, Ultimate Brekkie Bowl, and the Breakfast Sausage Bowl. I really enjoyed my breakfast! I absolutely adored my matcha latte! I couldn't taste the yuzu as much (I could taste acidity but it wasn't prominently yuzu), but I looooved the flavor of the mango with the matcha. A delicious drink! The breakfast bowls were yummy and hearty. The egg frittata in the bowl was SO good. I wanted more! Between the two bowls, I preferred the Ultimate Brekkie Bowl because I thought the bacon had better flavor compared to the sausage. Overall, I'd totally eat here again!

I've been going to Blk Dot for years and they have a bunch of locations in SoCal, but this is one of my fave Blk Dot locations and just coffee spots in general. View is gorgeous. I love getting the VTM with sea salt foam on top (would recommend that if it's your first time), otherwise they have other good viet coffee options and seasonal options as well. The VTMatcha and Pumpkin creme latte (seasonal) are also good drinks to get! Service is always good

Coffee 4/5 We ordered the Spanish Latte and Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and both were pretty good. We were told the Vietnamese Iced Coffee was a popular choice, so we decided to try something new. It wasn't bad, but it was a bit stronger than I personally prefer. Overall, the coffee was good and definitely worth trying! Food 3/5 We ordered a jalapeño bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese, along with a breakfast bowl. The food was okay, but I was definitely more of a fan of the coffee. The coffee stood out much more than the breakfast items. Customer Service 5/5 Customer service was amazing! The cashier was super friendly and patient. I really appreciate when you walk into a place not knowing exactly what to order, and the staff takes the time to offer friendly suggestions without making you feel rushed or pressured. It made the whole experience so enjoyable! Ambience 5/5 I love that this coffee shop is so close to the beach--it's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. The location is absolutely beautiful and feels both nice and safe. A great place to unwind! Cleanliness 5/5 Really clean !

Everyone loved their drinks! It was just really busy on a Sunday and took a bit to get drinks. Worth it though for the price Good option for coffee here.

This is located in the Crystal Cove shopping center. It was a very busy Sunday. Parking was challenging to find, but managed to spot a space after 10 minutes. Wanted a picker up for a late afternoon after having lunch. Decided to come here. Our cashier was really knowledgeable recommending different drinks for our taste. Very nice with great customer service. I ended up with Iced Thai Tea settle sweet drink perfect for my drive home. Service was quick and got my drinks in minutes. Environment had good vibes! Their food menu looked delicious, but just had lunch on a full stomach. Definitely next time will check it out!

THEIR MANGO YUZU MATCHA IS SO GOOOODD! Love the seating and vibe too. I'd definitely recommend to order it with almond or oat milk since my friend said it got a bit too milky with regular milk that it detracted from the matcha flavor.

Took a weekend drive to enjoy the beach and decided to grab a latte before the sun and sand. Thank goodness for BLK dot. I actually went back after the beach as it was so delicious and wanted one more for the road. I will be back without searching elsewhere in the Newport area.

Delicious coffees and teas. A lot of Asian Inspired drinks. I wish they had more locations. Hopefully one day they can expand out into the Inland empire area and not just beach cities. I also purchased one of their shirts, on the back it says "Sleep is overrated".

This place is great across the board but what makes it is definitely the location! Located right off Coast Highway, it offers views of the ocean from their outdoor seating. The staff greeted me when I arrived which always makes an experience a little bit more memorable. The coffee is rich and flavorful and the blueberry muffin is light and fluffy. Overall, this place is a must in my book!

    Unshaken Thai tea.
    Jowel G.

Out for some tea and coffee after Javier's for an early dinner. Friendly staff and helpful. This Thai tea hit the spot with the creamy texture and light sweetness. Open and airy indoor space. Cozy outdoor seating and lounging, shaded and enjoy the arm chairs and couches. Perfect afternoon. Parking can be a challenge with all the businesses in this area.

The Vietnamese coffee was not good. The iced vanilla latte was decent. Service was okay they weren't very welcoming. The location is perfect tho.

Great Thai latte and a fiesta bowl is my go to order. The view is stunning and I prefer the experience to the laguna one down the street.

We couldn't decide if there was only one guy serving, but other tables received their drinks and food before us. What did go well, the table assistant Alberto hooked us up with refills and retrieved napkins and silverware for us. He had a great attitude also. We enjoyed our food, I had the fish tacos, very balanced, my friend enjoyed the pancakes, and my other friend ordered the eggs Benedict and said they were good. We also sampled the French toast, it was a nice sweet treat. I tried some cocktails, the raspberry one was pretty but sweet and the other one was a citrus one that I really liked. This does have more of a nighttime vibe, the bar is really cool. I think they needed more staff for the brunch crowd.

It's a walk up and order type of place, the cashier was not the friendliest but I also think it had been a bit busy just before we got there. The space has ample indoor and outdoor seating, and since we don't get to enjoy outdoor dining much during the summer back home, it was a nice treat. Totally understandable. DON'T bitch or moan. Just move it. The foot traffic here is unpredictable. We arrived and quickly found a table outside. They have indoor AND outdoor seating. This place is dog-friendly. It's super clean and comfortable. You order at the counter and pay and they bring the food to you. So, as we sat and looked at the menu - the place got bombarded. The line went from empty to 20 deep in 3 minutes!! Decide quickly or wait. The gentleman at the counter was very nice. All the staff we came in contact with were incredible professional BUT not mechanical which is a definite plus. Placed our orders: We always start with a cinnamon roll wherever we go! Ordered one and was disappointed as it was a version that resembled a not-so-good puff pastry Elephant Ear thing. Too dry for me. My friend was a little more forgiving. We also ordered the PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE which more than made up for it. THATS SAID AND DONE... The YOGURT BOWL was amazing! She mentioned the LEMON CURD was "magical". I had the BAGEL AND LOX. OMG! It was delicious!! The arugula and the dressing - not exactly sure what it was, was RIDICULOUSLY tasty. I think it had an avocado base? I ordered a side of BACON - which you can decide on the cook - soft or crunchy. I'm guessing it wouldn't matte because it's amazing! Thick cut yumminess! I ordered a side of SPINACH - not offered on the menu but, as it is in a dish I wanted to see if they accommodated. They did! And I was expecting steamed greens on a plate. But, they use a high quality olive oil because I tasted it and was surprised. Very happy! We enjoy a few GUAVA MIMOSAS at the recommendation of the gentlemen. He was right! Finally, the coffee. You get your own. It was dark and rich and satisfying. The bathrooms are clean. The kitchen is exposed so you can actually watch the goings on. Tables inside / picnic tables outside. Friendly staff!! Comfortable ambience. This place checks all the squares!! If you haven't been here make it a regular spot on weekends. It's worth the trip. I have decided whenever I'm in the area- I will be stopping by.

It wasn't overly sweet like a lot of brunch spots tend to do. The balance was just right, letting the flavors shine without feeling like dessert for breakfast. The blueberries, maple syrup, and cream brought everything together perfectly. The spicy shrimp pasta was equally impressive. It had a great kick to it, but the spice didn't overpower the dish. You could still taste all the flavors of the pasta, shrimp, and sauce. That's a rare thing because too many places mistake heat for flavor. Great Maple got it right. The restaurant was very busy, which is usually a good sign, but despite the crowd, the service never slipped. Our servers were attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly. If I had one minor complaint, it's that the popularity means you should expect a wait during peak hours. But after eating here, it's easy to understand why it's packed. Excellent food, attentive service, and a brunch experience that's worth coming back for. Human beings may disagree on politics, sports, and whether pineapple belongs on pizza, but Great Maple serving great food feels like one of the easier things to agree on.

We were seated around…read more12:05~ which is perfectly fine as they needed a bit of additional time to set up our tables. The ambiance and design of this restaurant feels very home-y and welcoming. The entire place had full of life and is very clean. Our server today is Matt and he did an amazing job taking care of us. Very respectful and mindful and was happy to serve us which is a huge plus for me as customer service is also a defining factor for dining in my book. My family and I ordered a variety of dishes however I will be writing based on what I ordered personally / shared with and have eaten. Brew Bears - Cinnamon Toast (4/5): Our server Matt recommended this to me so I decided to order it to try it out. The drink comes in a small bear shape cup and had a soft and fluffy maple syrup + cinnamon foam. The drink is good and not too sweet which is a plus. Only downside is that the drink is fairly small and for $10, I would at least expect it to be in a larger size. Famous Maple Bacon Donuts (5/5): These were delicious! Very soft and fluffy; the maple glaze is sweet and gooey, and the bacon has a nice smoke to it which complimented the sweet maple notes. The donuts were clearly freshly made which we really appreciate. Be careful though as my family and I ordered 3 orders (3 pcs / order) and didn't realize how big each donut is! It is very filling and might make you too full for the other dishes if you normally don't eat a lot. Mac and Cheese (3.5/5): I ordered this alongside both the chili bacon bits and shrimp add-ons. The Mac and cheese came with spiral shaped pasta with a panko crust and white cheese. The overall taste to me is decent; nothing that really stood out to me but it was still good. The amount of shrimp provided vs the cost for the add-on (+$7) wasn't worth it for the small pieces and overall portion. I did also get some fettuccini pasta noodles towards the bottom of the dish which threw me off. Not sure if that's intended or by accident. Parmesan Truffle Fries (5/5): The fries we ordered came in hot and fresh with a side of ketchup. There was ALOT of flavor and you can really taste the truffle. The texture for the fries was nice and crispy to perfection. Overall, we did have a great experience and I do see myself coming back some time in the future. I would probably change up a few orders to try different things out.

Despite how busy they were, the service was excellent. Drinks and appetizers arrived within minutes of ordering, and the staff did a great job keeping up with our large group. The unlimited chips and salsa were dangerously good. I always tell myself I'll stop after a few chips, but somehow I never do--and this salsa was definitely the reason why! For my entrée, I ordered the three seafood enchiladas. I appreciated that the seafood flavors were bold and fresh without tasting fishy. The green sauce complemented the dish perfectly and elevated the flavors even more. I also sampled a combination plate, which was good overall, although I felt the chile relleno had a little too much cheese, making it difficult to taste the chile itself. For dessert, we couldn't decide on just one, so we ordered the chocolate cake, tres leches cake, and fried ice cream. My ranking: fried ice cream first, tres leches second, and chocolate cake third. The chocolate cake was good but similar to what you'd find at many other restaurants. The tres leches was delicious--moist without being overly milky or sweet, and the almonds added a nice texture and flavor. The fried ice cream was the standout for me. The crunchy cereal coating added great texture, and because it wasn't overly sweet, it balanced perfectly with the ice cream. Overall, this is a place I'd definitely recommend for both the food and service. Just remember: reservations, reservations, reservations!.
