They boast a great independent coffee shop vibe and an upscale feel to the place, while also capitalizing on a wide offering of Vietnamese Coffee, which is something a lot of independent coffee shops don't offer. The service here was quick and concise, the baristas were friendly and helpful with ordering and were exactly what you should expect from a craft coffee shop. There wasn't anything overtly special about the mocha that I ordered. It was a bit chocolate heavy and the coffee flavor didn't push through much at all, but every place does it a bit different. It wasn't bad by any means! We didn't try any food or pastries, but the offerings all looked pretty good. Upscale coffee shop in Newport Coast - stopped by with friends to meet an old mentor yesterday morning for brunch. I ordered a matcha latte and a fiesta bowl ($21.78 before tip) and enjoyed both. We sat indoors as the outside tables were occupied and caught up on life, health and the secret to happiness. The parking lot was quite full. The good citizens of Orange County had driven over in their finest automobiles on this fine Sunday morning. If you're in the Crystal Cove area and in need of a caffeine boost, this place has great drinks especially if you're into Vietnamese coffee. Blk Dot has a few locations in OC but this is one of the nicest ones being in the Crystal Cove shopping center right along PCH with the ocean just across the way. On a weekday morning it was quiet and my order was ready right away. They're known for Vietnamese coffee, but they have other coffee and tea drinks too. I had their Yuzu Mango Matcha Latte ($7.95/large) and it was very refreshing. I could taste the citrus yuzu and it had the right amount of sweetness. It was perfect with whole milk but you can also sub for other milks. They have some tables inside as well as outside. It's a nice spot to grab coffee with a friend or do some work. read more

I was in this shopping center and decided to stop in. All I got was a caramel macchiato and it was very good. It was about 1pm and the place was packed. Surprisingly I got my drink pretty fast. The place is very modern and clean looking. With the Pacific Ocean right across the street, just a nice place all around just to hang out at. Price was the same as Starbucks. YUMMMM Ordered a Yuzu Mango Matcha Latte, Ultimate Brekkie Bowl, and the Breakfast Sausage Bowl. I really enjoyed my breakfast! I absolutely adored my matcha latte! I couldn't taste the yuzu as much (I could taste acidity but it wasn't prominently yuzu), but I looooved the flavor of the mango with the matcha. A delicious drink! The breakfast bowls were yummy and hearty. The egg frittata in the bowl was SO good. I wanted more! I've been going to Blk Dot for years and they have a bunch of locations in SoCal, but this is one of my fave Blk Dot locations and just coffee spots in general. View is gorgeous. I love getting the VTM with sea salt foam on top (would recommend that if it's your first time), otherwise they have other good viet coffee options and seasonal options as well. This is located in the Crystal Cove shopping center. It was a very busy Sunday. Parking was challenging to find, but managed to spot a space after 10 minutes. Wanted a picker up for a late afternoon after having lunch. Decided to come here. Our cashier was really knowledgeable recommending different drinks for our taste. Very nice with great customer service. I ended up with Iced Thai Tea settle sweet drink perfect for my drive home. Service was quick and got my drinks in minutes. Environment had good vibes! There is an ocean view, seating inside and seating outside. The employees are nice and I recommend going here for the experience. The only downside is that it's not organic and they don't have clean milk options o good Mylk. This is also a few doors down from another coffee shop which is pretty odd. read more

My husband and I were having a late lunch next door at Bear Flag and I decided I wanted some Vietnamese iced coffee. I ordered the iced LVTM because it's made with espresso and not with the slow drip Vietnamese coffee so it supposedly had less caffeine. I should have asked them to make it with decaf espresso but forgot. What a rookie mistake. The drink was made quickly and I had a sip before leaving the cafe. My husband had a sip and was a fan as well. I only bought it because I wanted to stay awake for the concert we were attending later that evening. But the caffeine kept me up until 2 am. The shop is so bright and airy with lots of seating indoors and outdoors. I love the minimalist vibe and trendy decor. The staff were very friendly and the coffee was amazing! I was expecting it to be super pricey because of the location but I was thrilled to see it was quite reasonable - $6.50 for a large latte with Oat-milk. My fiancée and I are frequent remote workers that used to go to the Starbucks that used to be here. I'm so happy that a black dot coffee opened here and replaced the monopoly of Starbucks! I really like their unique Asian inspired drinks here from Thai tea to Vietnamese coffee and Japanese matcha. I usually order the matcha iced latte which is so refreshing, creamy, and not overly sweet. It reminds me a lot of the moon goat iced matcha which is one of my favorites spots! I also like that the cafe is dog friendly with lots of seats to work or study. The service was extremely disappointing. My drinks came out significantly late, even though I had ordered well before several others. I watched multiple people--who arrived and placed their orders after me--receive their drinks ahead of mine. One couple ordered after me and got their drinks before I did. Then a woman walked in, placed her order right in front of my eyes while I was still waiting, and received her drink before mine as well. By the time my order was finally called, yet another couple--different from the first--had already received theirs before mine, despite ordering after me. To make matters worse, the drinks (two Spanish lattes) were bland and poorly made. It's unacceptable for such a small order to be both delayed and improperly prepared, especially when the café wasn't even busy. Prioritizing certain customers over others is unacceptable. This kind of service should never happen again. read more
