Delicious bagel! The smoked salmon was fresh, bagel had the right amount of chew and overall very happy I found this place. It's just down the street on Bristol from South Coast Plaza. I will happily come back and try more of their bagels.
Really great service, the food came out insanely fast. The bagel itself was so rly good, crispy outside, soft inside. Very fresh micro greens as well which I loved. Side note: orange juice was amazing
I really love the vibe and ambiance here. There's a large outdoor seating area, and I appreciated that they have a self-serve station with water, napkins, and utensils. It makes everything feel casual and convenient. I forgot the name of the bagel we ordered, but it was the lox bagel with all the toppings. I really enjoyed the overall flavor and the combination of toppings, but the bagel itself was a little too hard for my personal taste. It was quite chewy and difficult to bite through. The salmon also had a slightly fishy taste, although the cream cheese was excellent and tied everything together nicely. I'd definitely come back to try one of their regular bagels since I liked the vibe of the restaurant. I think something simple, like a bagel with cream cheese and egg, might be better.
WOW! Boil & Bake is a lesson in how to do a bagel right! The name says it all..boil to achieve the traditional dense and chewy interior and glossy exterior. Then bake in the oven to golden brown perfection. So go ahead and try every bagel..you will not be disappointed! And because being an overachiever is what Boil & Bake does well, they also make an AMAZING horchata latte! The bagel is complimented nicely by super friendly service and a lovely, covered outdoor seating area. Well done Boil & Bake!
I wanted to try out a new bagel spot and this place did not disappoint. The service there is amazing. I let the cashier know that it was my first time at the store and she immediately spoke to me about their sourced ingredients, recommendations, and popular items on the menu. For this reason, I already had such an easy time ordering. The servers were kind when providing us with our meal. I also absolutely loved their horchata cold brew. I did not have to add anything else to it since it was so delicious by itself. The bagel I chose was Santa Monica and the portion was filling and tasty. The inside of the space was clean and had enough seating for everyone. Parking on the outside is very easy to access as well with plenty of space!!! Great find
Ordered the sage and it was delicious. Extra toasted was an option, thank god! Would 100% get it again. Line went fast.
Boil & Bake! Probably one of the best bagel shops in OC, Everything here is made fresh and they support local coffee roasters. They have all types of bagels but I am pretty sure they specialize in LOX Bagels. My go to order is the The Bella. The Bella is so delicious and the portion size is pretty large as well. Everything is well balanced from the juicy hierloom tomatoes, the tangy capers, the fresh crunch of the the red onion with a little dash of seasoning and drizzle of the fat gold olive oil. Each bite better than the next. The flavors and service is consistent. They get pretty busy, however, the line goes by fairly quickly, there is minimal seating inside. They have a decent size patio, Once they bring your order out the rest of the experience is self service.
I came in around 10 AM. There was a line of five people. The service was exceptional. Their outdoor seating area is cute, and though most tables were occupied, the turnover was quick. No coffee refills, and the dine-in mugs are relatively small. This trendy venue is certainly worth exploring; however, the pricing may not accommodate daily visits.
YUM! Had a great first time here at Boil & Bake. There was a line out the door this Saturday morning, but it moved steadily. You order with the cashier and you can either dine-in (patio or a few 2-top tables right by their front window) or do take-out! Service was friendly, food came out within less than 8-10 minutes, water/utensils/napkins are self-serve, I believe you leave your tray at the table and their fast employees wipe and buss tables down for the next diners to come and enjoy! Note: they do not allow for table saving, so you have to order first before securing a table. They do not allow for modifications (it says so on their menu), but they do allow for you to TAKE OFF items! We got the dodger & the santa monica, both on an everything bagel and really enjoyed them. Super yummy, i REALLY loved the chive cream cheese and the lemon provided to squeeze on our delicious lox bagels. Can't wait to come by and discover the rest of their menu! Fy
According to Reddit, Boil & bake is the best bagel spots around. But in reality I think people get swept up with how much they have to work for a proper bite of bagel. No matter what you order, you better make sure to bring ALL the most sturdy of teeth and gum so you can really chew the sourdough from these bagels. If the waiting in line didn't get you, everything else including having been dusted by all the seeds and everything on anything but a plain bagel- then you have more patience and time than I do. I love the design of this place and how hipster it seemed but my teeth are getting older by the day and do not appreciate my elderly abuse by putting them through the chewy ringer.
Love to come here for a relaxing morning at their outdoor patio with fresh bagels and orange juice. The Fish Plate comes with 2 bagels of your choice and large lox plate which can be shared within group for you to make your own fully loaded lox bagel. Get the New Yorker or the OG if you love protein. The place can get very busy towards later morning as the line can go all the way out of the store, but the staff is efficient with taking the orders while answering the questions to help people choose
I'm drooling just looking at the photo of this bagel again. This place was sooooooooooo delicious! So fresh! Will 100% be coming back again! They have a cute patio to sit on. Staff are friendly. All the bagels are made in house. Super good.
Service was super friendly! I love a plain and simple lox bagel. I wouldn't say there was anything special or extra regarding the lox/toppings and for $17 it's definitely pricey for what it was HOWEVER the bagel itself is delicious. It's chewy and got a unique texture that I can see why people wait in line for it. I went on a weekday and there was no wait. I'd come back to try something different next time but overall a good breakfast!
Delicious bagels! Whole staff and environment feels friendly with great vibes! As soon as I walked into the store, a staff member handed menus out and informed us about the new items. It's great when a store knows how to perform and operate with passion! The bagels are made fresh, and there's a side where you can see them being made by hand! I ordered The Dodger, a salmon topped bagel with pickled onions, dill, and capers, and it was yummy, healthy, and clean. Wait time was pretty fast after ordering. There was a bit of a line on a Friday around brunch time, but my to-go order took less than 10 minutes to be ready. There is some indoor and outdoor patio seating too. read more
Found my new go-to bagel spot!! Boil & Bake does not have a ton of flavors, but in this case, less is more. When I visited around 1pm on a Sunday, they only had 3 options left: Plain, Everything, and Sesame bagels. I went with The Old Smokey on an Everything bagel, and it was phenomenal! The bagel itself was perfectly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It was also loaded with toppings that tasted fresh and were a great flavor combination. They had a counter with seating for eating inside, and a large patio for outdoor dining. I really enjoyed the space and all my interactions with employees. They are also part of a shopping center, so there is a large parking lot. Prices were a little high, but worth it in my opinion! I'll be back to try an open face next time. read more

Their bagels are chewy & fresh! I tried two of their sandwiches. Keep in mind they don't allow substitutions here. The New Yorker was definitely on the heavy side. The thick cut bacon was salty but delicious. The Santa Monica was light in comparison. I loved the scallion cream cheese but I wish they added more. That's just my personal preference. The service was friendly. The lines can get long so be prepared to wait especially if you visit on a weekend. Their prices are a bit steep. We spent around $35 after tax for two bagel sandwiches alone. They were very tasty though. read more
Staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The ambiance is light, spacious also has an outdoor seating. Looks like they are expanding. We ordered a Boil&Basic with everything bagel and The New Yorker with spicy Jalapeño cheddar bagel. The food was amazing. read more
i've been wanting to try this place for the longest time after hearing so many good things about the food. I went on a saturday morning so there was a bit of a line outside. there's not really much of indoor seating but they do have a little patio area in the back with more seating. our cashier was nice and the food came out in about 10 minutes so it wasn't bad at all. the vibes were good and it seemed that other people came to try it for the first time as well. honestly one of the best bagels i've had, i would definitely go again in the future! read more

This was hands down the BEST lox and bagel I've ever had! And the amazing part? The bagels are sourdough so good. We even met the owner, who was super nice and welcoming. There was a line, but don't let that discourage you, it moves quickly! Once we ordered, our food was out in about 5 minutes. read more
Have been wanting to stop by for a while and got the chance to come in today. The line is usually super long but I came in on a day where it was wasn't too bad. The everything bagels were great! I loved the everything bagel w/ cream cheese but was not a fan of the dairy free/vegan cream cheese at all. It was almost a nutty, chipotle flavor which did not mesh with the bagels. I know dairy free cream cheese can be tough sometimes but the flavor profile really was not it. We'll be back but will not be getting the dairy free cream cheese next time read more
I have been here twice now and am a big fan. The bagels are sourdough-based, which gives them a unique flavor and texture that is perfect for bagel sandwiches. I love their Dodger and its sandwich counter part, both of which use smoked salmon instead of the more common lox. The only complaint is that they run out of the more popular bagels quickly, and do not allow any substitutions whatsoever on their bagels (it would be lovely to try a different cream cheese on one of the sandwiches, for instance). read more
Came here on a Friday morning, line wasn't long and service was quick! There's plenty of parking, and comfortable seating outside. When you do sit down, someone brings you your meal and the gal who did was just so incredibly nice and bubbly. Now moving on to our orders.. Simple Sam- butter/flaky salt and we made for the strawberry jam-delish!! The O.G- longanisa sausage (enough said) on a cacio e Pepe bagel The M. F. - egg, maple sausage ( that aioli sauce )- white cheddar jalapeno bagel (a must!) I loved watching how they shaped the bagels, you know a lot of love and care goes into each open faced/sandwich bagel made. We also ordered the matcha drink (not sweetened but added honey) and the horchata cold brew which hit the spot. We loved this cozy spot and looking forward to coming back. Gotta add that I ate half of my bagel and reheated it the next day.. still tasted just as fresh as it did the day before. read more
The bagels are absolutely packed and has so much flavor in each bite. We've been going back every week since finding this place We got the Santa Monica and New Yorker. I usually love a refreshing bagel sandwich with lox but the New Yorker was soo good! They made it perfectly: huge, fluffy egg and a thick cut of bacon. Came here over the weekend, and can definitely report back that this is one of the spots you'd go to after a workout for a nice filling bite. The line isn't super long, but the wait is long, especially on a weekend at 11am. We waited about 45 minutes before we got to the front to order. I kinda wish they had a menu for you to look at while you waited, so that you knew what to order when you got to the front. I got the fully loaded lox open faced bagel, with the everything bagel and an iced tea. It came out to around ~$25 for the entire thing, which seems steep, but then you see how loaded the bagel is and it makes sense. They don't really have an indoor eating space, but they have a small beautiful patio with self-serve water. After ordering, they give you a number and a team member brings out the food to you. Food came out super quick, maybe within 5-10 minutes. The bagel itself was delicious! When they said loaded, they mean it. It came with smoked salmon, cucumbers, capers, sprouts (like microgreens stuff), dill, and pickled red onions. Everything was stacked on there like a mountain, and yes, it did taste amazing. I was able to finish half of my bagel, and ended up taking the other half home for later, which after sitting in my fridge for a few hours, still tasted great! For it being in Costa Mesa, parking actually wasn't an issue, and it was super easy to find a spot in the shared parking lot. The line did look like it died down around 1pm, so if you don't want to wait, I'd recommend coming around that time! read more
Went on a Sunday morning and the line was long and out the door! It was about a 25 minute wait to order and our food was out in 10 minutes. But worth the wait! I got to try the Santa Monica, the OG, and the New Yorker, each of them very different yummy flavors. The Santa Monica seemed like a socal twist on the iconic east coast lox bagel. I thought the cucumbers didnt contribute much to the flavor but the pickled onions were delicious, sweet and sour. This might be a personal preference but I wish there was more cream cheese on this bagel as well. The OG was simple yet flavorful! The sausage was a good level of peppery and the cheese and egg cooked nicely. The New Yorker was fatty and very juicy because of the ham. Definitely a filling and flavorful bagel. Across all bagels I wish that the bagel bread itself was less dense. I tried the everything bagel and fresno bagel and both were thick and a bit dense, def wish they were fluffier and lighter. Overall solid spot for bagels in socal! Beware of the lines and wait times on weekends. I definitely want to come back to try more of the menu! read more

The Santa Monica is like a lox bagel, but better! The New Yorker had melted cheese and was delicious too! Both bagel sandwiches were huge and yummy. Ehhhhhh My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast because it's close to my work but I wasn't too impressed. I love a good bagel but was kinda let down and ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE!! I enjoyed my bagel! The cream cheese was light and the salmon tasted really fresh and tender. With the cucumber, the bagel was quite light and refreshing and didn't feel too heavy at all. The bagel itself was also fresh and fluffy, what you would expect from an everything bagel. As for seating, they have a nice outdoor seating spot good for hanging out with friends or doing some studying with a self serve water station. Overall it's a solid spot if you're in the mood for a bagel sandwich but nothing really wowed me here, considering the prices too. read more

Rating: 8.5/10 Second time trying Boil and Bake and overall a really solid bagel spot. Long line, waited about 30min, so plan accordingly. They do have a nice outdoor patio seating area, which makes it a good spot to hang out once you get your food. Salmon Lox -- 9/10 Very fresh across the board. The salmon, veggies, and bagel all tasted high quality. Clean, balanced, and easily the highlight of the meal. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese -- 8/10 Still good, but not as strong as the lox. The bacon was a bit too thick for my preference, which made it a little heavier than I'd like. Everything else was solid though. Overall, great ingredients and quality. Just be ready for the wait. read more

Came back on a Saturday afternoon and there was no line and tons of seating available. Ordered The OG and it was good! I got it with the everything bagel and it came out HOT. The cheese was perfectly melted, the longaniza sausage patty was delicious and egg cooked perfectly. Definitely come to Boil & Bake if you haven't already. read more
Amazing bagelry! This place definitely lives up to the hype for its beautiful, delicious bagels. We got the fully loaded lox and the new yorker, both on everything bagels. The New Yorker was savory and filling. The pieces of bacon that come with it were thick and juicy! The fully loaded lox was refreshing and definitely had a lot of different veggies on there! It was a good combination of ingredients and was quite the experience eating it. Highly recommend for those looking for fancy bagels! read more
My first time at Boil & Bake and it was worth all the hype!! I love this style of cream cheese on a bagel with a tomato on top. It offers such a fresh touch to the bagel and is so delicious. I love that you can change up the bagels - we got cacio e Pepe on the Plain Jane and then a white cheddar bagel for The Heirloom. Both were absolutely amazing and so filling but we couldn't stop eating so we finished them! So yummy I highly recommend. The line also moves fast. The back patio is also so so cute and lots of seating to hangout and enjoy!! read more
I would 100% come back for the Bella and the water from Sedona. Wow. One bite into the Bella I knew this was one the best lox & bagel I've had in California. That salmon was like fish butter. So tender, so fatty and creamy. I was blown away by the flavor of the salmon. Whatever technique they have to house-cure it is top tier. The bagel was crispy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. Absolute perfection with the pickled onions, tomato, and caper. My wife got the New Yorker. It was great, but compared to the Bella I would always pick the Bella unless I wanted a bacon, egg, and cheese. Service was quick for how busy it was and plenty of seating outside. FINALLY good bagels in OC!! My friends and I got the BEC (The New Yorker) on caccio e peppe (jalapeño cheddar was unfortunately out) and my mom got the ultimate lox on a plain bagel. All were amazing, I especially loved the BEC, comparable and perhaps better than LA's Layla's. I just wish the bagels were a little bit more customizable. I will definitely be going back regularly, but frankly, I don't know how frequently I will be willing to wait in a 30 minute line for them. It does look like they're expanding though, so hopefully that'll help! read more
So I'm always excited when a new bagel place opens up which was why I have been wanting to try Boil & Bake and wow did it live up to high expectations! Located in the shopping center off of Redhill and Bristol (in the shopping center with Starbucks, UPS Store, McDonalds, the new Sweetgreens drive thru, Chipotle, etc.) it is located in the back of the center and actually has a really nice location because they build a very large private outdoor patio that is connected to the side of the restaurant. There is also some indoor seating as well. There's plenty of free parking so I was able to park, walk in and order. My test of a good bagel store is I order a plain bagel. That's it. No spread, not toasted...I just get a plain bagel and eat it whole like an apple - because if they can make a good bagel that tastes outstanding without anything on it then you know that if they put spread and toppings on it that it will taste even more delicious! The plain bagels at Boil & Bake are 10/10 both in taste and texture. First the texture is perfect and lives up to its namesake: boils and bake as the bagels have the shiny slightly chewy outer texture with a soft fluffy doughy interior = the ideal bagel texture! Then the taste of the plain bagel here at Boil and bake really exceeded expectations because it is complex! I mean it's still a plain bagel but I tasted notes of sourdough with just the slightest hint of something like onion powder. The bagel, while still being plain, was complex tasting and delicious! I would eat it every day! Then when you take their delicious bagels and then order one of their super creative fun sandwiches and it perfection. What is also awesome is that they have 5 different variations on the typical bagel and lox - some having lemon, some with Salted Cucumber & Radish, some with dill, some with Scallion & Chive cream cheese....I love all the different variations on the classic bagel & lox! I'm totally going to be a regular at Boil & Bake! I can't wait to try all of their menu items and different flavor of bagels - next on my list the Greens, Egg, & Ham with pesto cream cheese and prosciutto (with flipped egg and arugula) and I want to try it on a jalapeño cheese bagel! Pick up is at the same cashier. I have walked directly to the cashier (essentially skipping anyone in line) and gotten my order in about 30 seconds.

Yes! They sell just bagels. But I highly recommend their Cream cheese you can get a tub. Its very good!
