I've been into tonic espresso lately, and when I saw tonic Matcha on the menu, I definitely wanted to try. I've been campaigning all around OC trying to find my new go-to coffee shop and this place ranks easily in my top three. I started with the zesty Bestie, which was a delicious blend of quality Matcha tonic and other ingredients that made it a perfect balance. I also got a breakfast burrito with just egg and cheese, which was phenomenal. The only thing that is a pain point is how busy they are. Even with me placing my order 20 minutes through DoorDash when I got there I still had to wait about 15 minutes for my order to be ready. It hurts to give this place a one star because it has been on my list for awhile and I had heard good things about it. 1. Don't come here for matcha (there's a million other better options in OC) this was my least favorite. They pre-mix their matcha in advance, so it is in a squeeze bottle. Matcha and the milk begin to separate after 20 - 30 seconds of just sitting there. I do like that they make their almond milk from scratch, that's cool. 2. Chicken Cesar wrap is good / dec. Nice grill marks on the tortilla, tastes like they actually season the chicken, just still feels like it is lacking something, not sure what. Side note: Would love it if they could offer a 2 oz side of Cesar dressing, especially if you're just buying one wrap. Charging almost $4 for a side of sauce because it is in a 4oz container is a little absurd to me. No one needs that much sauce for one wrap. No problem with paying for a side of sauce just consider providing the smaller option so it's not a complete waste. The dressing is good, I will give them credit for that. 3. We were in the neighborhood for our auto tint and wanted coffee. This has been on my list for quite some time and decided to head here for coffee and somewhere else for breakfast. They do serve food here tho! They had a special seasonal menu and we ordered it from there. I had to get their infamous ferrero rocher and it definitely tasted like a ferrero rocher hazelnut drink. It was more chocolate based but very well balanced. We also had an iced latte with the honey lavender syrup. For food, we shared the Spicy Cucumber Avocado Toast and this was SO good!! I can't recommend this enough! I would definitely order this again but one just for myself rather than sharing. It didn't taste too spicy, but the furikake and the chili crunch flavors all blended so well together. This small cafe is charming and has amazing service. It was quite packed in there so we didn't stay for long, but I would love to try coming earlier and see how easy it is to get a table. I was excited to see several vegan drinks on the menu AND no upcharge on oat milk! I got a hot salted caramel latte, which was a bit small but tasted great. This is honestly the best black sesame latte I've ever had. It's the only thing I ordered here, so I can't comment on anything else, but I would drive an hour just to have it again. I didn't get it with the cream top, so it was just the syrup that made the drink nutty and perfectly not too sweet. I ordered the small size which was just enough for me. The interior is very cute and cozy, with some tables along the wall for seating. They also have merch and beans available for purchase if you want a memento of your visit. Surprisingly, a good value. I got a cold brew with sesame foam and it was $6.50 for a good size cup. We also grabbed the salted caramel latte, which is salty but needed a little more caramel. Overall coffee is good. Unique coffee menu and there is a nice food menu also. We also grabbed the Portuguese sausage burrito. I like it that the tortilla is toasted and they cut it in half. I've tried so many coffee and matcha spots in Orange County, and unfortunately NUDAE's matcha was just a little too grainy for my liking. I do like how you can order online as this place is pretty busy on weekends. Additionally, you can choose oat milk or macadamia milk without being charged an additional fee like most other spots. For studying, the space is pretty small with minimal seating - so not quite the best study spot as many people are sitting to eat and chat as well. The service wasn't bad but not great. First time will be the last time for me after my experience yesterday. I placed an order via DoorDash thinking it would be ready by the time I arrived some 20+ minutes later. Turns out it wasn't. 3 customers who came after me in-person and ordered their items got their drinks before I did and left. I just stood there dumbfounded. The barista filled up the cup of ice and left it there until the 3 other orders were fulfilled too. I could literally see the melting ice water pooling on the bottom of the cups. The drinks weren't even filled all the way to the top and tasted like crap. It had green coloring and pink colorings. Yes. Looking like a proper matcha latte of sort. Did it taste like one? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Instagram worthy but just without the good taste to go with it. Crazy all I tasted was straight up sugary milk........and I didn't even leave the store until some aeons later. That's a lot of waiting especially given the fact that I placed the order online, gave it 20 minutes prior to my arrival, and walking out some 30 minutes later. That's nearly a whole freaking hour. And the snarky snooty attitude of the associates there? Totally uncalled for. I'm the one who wasted time literally waiting. Not my fault nobody got around working on my order so you can just hand it to me. Also not my fault there's nowhere for me to sit as all the tables were occupied. What on earth did you want me to do about it? Sit on the toilet and wait? The visit would have been somewhat redeeming if the actual drinks tasted good. i wouldn't order a specialized matcha here again. waaay too sweet, i didn't end up finishing it. my mom also ordered an iced coffee, which she also stated was too sweet and ended up throwing away as well. i learned later on through online ordering, that you can alter the sweetness of the drinks. next time i will try that. ive also ordered a chai here, it was verryy spicy, maybe needed more milk but i had to throw that one out too. all around it's not extremely horrible, but it also hasn't been to my liking, there's something off with the proportions of flavoring. there are some things i'd like to try out and maybe update my review another time. the staff is very kind whenever i've spoken to them and they seem to really care about the quality of the items coming out, for that i'll come back and try it again later. read more

Was looking for a nice new coffee place to try and stumbled upon this one. I have heard good things so I wanted to check it out with a friend of mine. I wasn't able to get a good picture of the inside since there were a lot of people sitting and I didn't want to make them uncomfortable but there are tables (like maybe 5 or so?) with a bench side and then a chair side. The baristas are kind and can answer any questions you have, of course. And they were incredibly quick with our drinks. The drinks are sooooo incredibly gorgeous and they taste good too. They're on the pricier side but it's top notch just with presentation alone. I got the strawberry matcha and this is one of the prettiest ones I have had since it has the freeze dried strawberries on top. Lots of parking too, so no worries there. read more

I've been to NUDAE a few times, so I thought I'd give it a try again while in the area, but I was unfortunately still not a fan. From the times I've gotten an iced matcha latte, they've been ok but sometimes it feels very chalky. I also recently tried their Campfire Latte (on their Summer menu) -- it was ok, but it just felt super chocolatey from the drizzle even after mixing it a lot. I'm sure they have other drinks that taste good though since they have so many options, especially from their Summer menu.
