Such a unique place. Visited coz my friend is into mystical things. Definitely visit if you like the Harry Potter-esque themes. Small menu of drinks and food. It gets more lively at night as there are alcoholic concoctions on the menu. We had the boba teas and popcorn coz there is a one drink minimum per person. What made it so cool is the service. We had the kids with us and they enjoyed the colored water. FYI - place is on the second floor above the vape place. Stairs are right by the entrance.
Cute family friendly boba bar next to a sex shop and a vape store. Normally wouldn't give this five stars, but this city needs more whimsy. Decor felt like a comic book store went out of business and was snatched up by a bobarista. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Game of Thrones, it was a blunderbuss of geek culture. Boba was good on presentation but a little watery(I know, it's tea, it's made of water, but usually milk tea has a little more creaminess). Food was not really an option outside of chips and popcorn, though they did have a beef stew which might be worth a look at a future date. Ice cream was generous and tasty. Service was slow but friendly. Atmosphere was welcoming. Overall a nice spot that I'm glad I visited. Looking forward to another trip out.
Elixir is a boba speakeasy, no alcohol involved. Finding it is half the experience. You're looking for the adult store called Lovers. Once you've clocked the wall of dildos, you're on the right track. Head up the stairs just to the right of the shop entrance. It's upstairs, near the psychic. I can't help but giggle a little at the irony: a no alcohol boba speakeasy that attracts teens yet requires you to walk past an entire parade of dongs to get there. Once upstairs, you'll spot the entrance. The place is super whimsical with decor that feels like you stepped into another dimension. There's even a hidden room behind a bookshelf. The drinks are fun and definitely on the sweet side. It's a great spot to bring board games or hang out with friends, feeling like you just spawned at the entrance of a dungeon and are about to go fight some bosses except the only loot here is delicious boba. I love that this place exists.
Super cute tea bar that felt like a speakeasy. You have to walk up stairs and it's not something you can just see from the street. The ambiance was fantastic and magical. They said if you dress up themed they give a discount which is fun. It is a small space. We waited in no line and it wasn't crowded at all when we went which was nice. Our server was in character the whole time. This would have been a five star if the drink quality matched the ambiance, service and price. You are paying for the experience but it would have been even better if the drinks were fantastic. They were ok. They looked nice, it was just the taste that was meh. But overall, I think it's fun and worth a try. Great vibes and even the bathroom is cute!
Welcome to the magical world of Boba on a whole different level. The atmosphere is like Harry Potter hooks up with goth girl and they decorate their love shack together. All kidding aside it's definitely a cool A$$ spot to check out and chill for a bit. So we started off with their Prophecy drink and this eye pleasing delight was a black boba tea latte with a nice touch of cardamom. Our next eye candy drink of choice was the Holy Grail. Ok this is a leveled up tea set with all the smoke and mystery wrapped up and ready to open. So yeah it's flashy tea! LoL. For those who are willing to spend a little extra they do have a secret room available but that's all I can say. Yeah I'm not one of those people that gives spoilers! Service was a little slow or it seemed that way but they did do the job taking us through a cool verbal adventure. And that's all I can say on this take, Peace out...
I was amazed by this place, a hidden gem for all who love epic and fantasy stories, from Dungeons and Dragons to wizards and witches. I am so glad to see the server themed as an elf. I would play a part if I knew how to speak old-fashioned. I will have to learn to order in old-fashioned style someday. The food selection seems slim however, the drinks and sweets are deliciously magical! The place itself could be a sight to admire and awe at as one gets lost in its many items and trinkets, with lights above that create a starry night . It is a must-see, and trying the VIP room it would be great for a birthday or any nerdy Lord of the Rings or D&D fan. Bring your card games and costumes!
A hidden speakeasy just for boba (ice cream and a small limited food menu) They are Harry Potter / wizard / fairy themed Check the hours before coming. They are closed certain days and don't open until 1 or later. They also have events on certain days like cosplay ones and etc. They also have a private parking area but they do share it with a bunch of places They have a membership you can buy where you get a bunch of fun perks and discounts. Also, get access to a hidden VIP room Highly recommend taking the wizard test. Yes, you heard that right, the wizard test. I believe it's a 10 dollar add on for each person (I don't want to ruin it, but it literally is a wizard TEST. And then you better pay attention because you will be TESTED) Another yelper bff and I came here. it's very easy to find. Just look for the Lovers adult store, psychic shop signs and purple haze smoke shop. (Yes, I'm not kidding lol) walk up those stairs and you'll start to see some fairy decorations and a huge skeleton Not going to lie, their ice cream list was actually pretty good. They had great names to it as well. But the flavors? 5 stars -GREEN DRAGON - Pistachio -PATRONUS - Coconut & Pineapple -JAVA THE HUTT - Coffee & Chocolate Truffles -MERMAID'S TREASURE - cotton Candy(I had this one since cotton Candy is one of my favorite flavors) -UBE WAN KENOBI - Ube And so on, they had a few other flavors Our waitress was absolutely on point. This girl could have been an award winning actress with how well she did. She played that role like she was born to be a star. And she broke down the menu as well and had an answer to everything (all while talking fairy / wizard lingo) So 10000000 stars for Arrietty. She was dressed as a fairy and another time I saw her she was dressed as Harry Potter theme Arrietty, even prepped us for our wizard test. Which, was it a little embarrassing? Maybe. But guess what? Everyone is here doing the same thing. So do it, no regrets. If you pass you get accepted into a wizard house Tables were also pretty cool. We had a chess table with pieces in the table drawer. They also have a wall with a bunch of games to play with friends. The drinks were actually delicious. I think it was a step above a regular boba place. The drink I got was extremely sweet. Just how I like it My favorite drink of the day was the Draven. (Extremely sweet, and the pics don't do it justice. It had little gold sparkles on top) We also ended up getting a whole tea set of their tea of the day. It came out extremely hot. So we did have to wait about 20 minutes to drink it. It came out with things like honey and etc. And, a whole show with a smoking treasure chest. So if you like regular tea, there's things for you as well instead of a sugar filled boba. It was a great experience and Arrietty couldn't have been a better waitress. (Also 5 stars for the atmosphere. My boyfriend loves cool cafes so I was so excited to find this place . Walking in the ambience for this place was super cool . It was a mixture of Harry Potter , mystical , lord of the rings . It has every fantasy combination you can think of . We went through the back door and it was super cool . They had free games for you to place with oh was fun as well as free axe throwing . My boyfriend got the dragons breath and I go the Largarden Livosa . My boyfriend's drink was nice and very refreshing . My drink was good as well but it was on the sweeter side . The staff was really nice as well . I enjoyed how they stayed in character which made the experience that much more fun . The nachos were super yummy and the spicy garlic bean sprouts kicked them up to the next notch .
What a wonderful fun thematic experience!! The family thoroughly enjoyed this lovely afternoon drinking and eating yummy beautiful concoctions! Everything tasted so good and there is so much to see and experience. It is NOT a quiet place and it helps if you like thematic experiences. You don't have to dress up, but if you want to then all the merrier for sure!! You can see how much time was spent in creating this beautiful enchanting space in the middle of a crazy world. Well done!!! Psst. They also have a Secret Society that members only can enter a special room with a secret menu! They do a lot of themed events that I can only imagine is filled with lots of fun. Service is fun and engaging and the staff is very knowledgeable!
This has been on my bucket list for a very long time. Came in around 7pm on a Sunday evening, it was totally empty besides 2 other groups. The inside was beautiful, service was friendly, and the drinks were a little underwhelming. But the experience and ambiance make up for it. To enter, you go in the Purple Haze and go up the staircase to the right.
Yes this awesome fantasy themed cafe is located above a smoke and sex shop. If they sold alcohol I could totally understand but they don't. Although it's an odd location for a kid friendly cafe I still think it's worth going for the experience with kids and of course without!! The interior is amazing! It's a nerd's dream come true from every book, film, TV show, game, etc. in the fantasy genre. They have various drinks, boba, ice cream and now have a few savory snacks. The reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the not all drinks and especially the popcorn is not good. I have been here 3 times so far. They do have a membership and a secret room and menu. I love the concept for adults that want to have fun and not party in the usual "let's get drunk at a bar". They do have a cute wizard test for $10. They have free games. It is a very friendly and chill place to hang out and definitely worth it for the pics!! They also have a small merch shop.
Girls' night out!!! It's been way too long, and Elixir was the perfect place to make it happen! Had the best time with my girlfriends - such a fun experience from start to finish. The drinks were delicious, and of course we had to try the most popular one, the Prophecy (so good!). Our waitress was awesome, and we even got a refill with our drink - bonus! The highlight was taking the wizard test and getting to tour the secret room... felt like we unlocked a magic level! Definitely a night to remember!
So the Elixir Tea Bar is amazing as far as decorations and being transported to a unique time and place. They have boba drinks and ice cream on the menu, which is interesting, wish there was more to the menu. They have some fun features that you can spend additional money on a do magic tricks for potential access to the private bar behind the book case, but we weren't motivated enough to spend the cash on it. The tea bar had a weird vibe, guy dressed as Freddy Kruger singing karaoke and even though they had ice cream on the menu they were literally out of every single flavor. This place could be so much more, it has really awesome nerdy kitschy potential but it's just all over the place. The movie, video game and character decorations and nods are amazing though, lots of thought went into it.

If you're looking for more than just a drink or dessert, if you want an experience, this place is it. We stumbled into Elixir Tea Bar & Ice Cream and ended up staying way longer than planned (in the best way). The entire space feels like stepping into a magical world, think Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones, with incredible attention to detail. Every corner has something to discover, and yes... there are chess boards on every table, which instantly sets the tone. What really made the visit unforgettable was the owner, Cire. He personally served us, sat and talked chess, and made us feel like we weren't just customers, we were guests in his world. That kind of hospitality is rare. Since my friends were visiting from out of town, he even gave us a behind the scenes tour, including a peek into a hidden, members only room tucked behind a secret bookcase door (yes, it's as cool as it sounds). It honestly felt like we unlocked a level in a game. The drinks and treats were great, but the vibe? Next level. It's whimsical, cozy, immersive, and just... special. This isn't just a place you go, it's a place you experience. Already planning my next visit. read more

First, my maps app pointed me to the wrong parking area behind the shop. This is absolutely not their fault at all! Just be aware that your maps app might do the same. There is a smaller parking area in front that is closer to the entrance. :) I really loved the entire atmosphere of this place. The awesomeness starts on the staircase going up, it was so cool to set the tone. Once inside, I could have spent hours looking at all the amazing details! I just love all the thought that went into everything - even the bathroom! I got a Draven drink and it was DELICIOUS. I'd wanted to try the Merakai also but it was sold out unfortunately. I also ordered the nachos, which were served in a really cool cup but were basically gas station nachos. ;) No hate, I love some gas station nachos and again, the presentation was awesome. I definitely look forward to ordering some of their other food options next time. I was a little disappointed that one of the items I wanted to try was only available on the members-only menu. I totally get why they have members-only perks but it's a little unusual that it extends to entire menu items instead of say, free upgrades for members but us "regular" folk can still order any item. I would have tried more things otherwise! read more

Every Wizards Favorite Hang out! This hidden gem in Costa Mesa is soo fun and cool. It's like a time capsule to your childhood.. Definitely a lot to see in every corner. The Ambience and vibe is top tier.. Definitely a fun place to hang out and take cute pictures, with that being said expect there to be a wait to come inside... The place is a little hidden when we first arrived we were a little lost because we didn't see a sign right away but as soon as we did it was super easy to find. They have decor at every stop. I'm not a boba girl but my boyfriend did order the dragons breath which he enjoyed. I ordered the Cookie Monster ice cream and it was really good and it came with a color changing spoon to keep the magic alive . Overall a cool spot read more
Immersive tea bar with delightful drinks, ice cream, and endless trinkets to feast your eyes on! Great spot to hang with friends, enjoy the fantasy pub atmosphere, and become the wizard you were always meant to be. Service is fantastic here as well, with employees dressed to impress in fantasy and magic-inspired cosplay. There's also a small gift shop of fun trinkets to take home. My favorite thing about this place was the abundance of inspired decor--even the bathroom was decked out with fun stuff. Great times ahead here. Check it out! read more

*** Parents park in the front avoid the devils fun dungeon, adults with no kids, take the journey through sinners town*** Now for my review: Have you ever accidentally parked into Dagon Alley and wondered what the Devils Fun Dungeon looked like as you follow the path to enlightenment? Follow the white rabbit Neo... you are about to be unplugged as you walk through some bütt plugs... Seriously though, parents kids, park in the front. This hidden gem near the devils fun dungeon takes you up stairs of alice and wonderlands caterpillars smoke shop and transports you into a magical well of nostalgia, magic, and adventures that put the mad hatters very marry unbirthday party to shame. I have been here twice and both times make me want to keep bringing more people. First time was my birthday - fun fact, this is a non alcoholic tea lounge, not a speak easy bar. BUT that did not stop my journey! Because i love tea more than i love tequila. The atmosphere here is phenomenal, i nerded out so much i geeked myself. So many call-backs to science fiction, magic and mystery. He-man, Medusa, gremlins, labyrinth?! How do they get all that stuff?! Amazing. Gizmo, Gollum , Girls, this is the G-spot of the devils fun dungeon. I became a wizard and got to go through the magical door, worth every shilling! Become a wizard and get a special reading on your spirit animal too. Drinks are phenomenal, staff is friendly and in character. Every piece wall to wall is covered in movie call backs from 80s-90s to today. Before 9 PM, family friendly, after 9 PM family friendly if you're in a family like mine that cusses like a sailor, has adult humor and doesn't care who judges. 10/10 vibes read more
A must-do for ANYONE with even slight nerd tendencies! Head through the doors to the smoke shop and make for the staircase to the right. Mind the giant looming skeleton, and make your way to the music and the lights. Our server was very fun, feeding into the fantasy of it all. The menu is very simple and straightforward, with specialty boba drinks (~$14) and ice cream ($11!) with cute names. The drinks themselves were, as other people have noted, mid. They do allow you to ask for less sweetness, which I recommend. We did get to watch a girl attempt the (very complicated) wizard test, which was fun. She, unfortunately, was not destined for magical greatness despite the staff's help. But hey, not all of us chosen. read more
Took my daughter out for bonding time to this magical whimsical tea bar. Elixir is curated for their boba teas and ice cream. Very sugary, but fun to see all intriguing drinks they have to offer. I had ordered the Prophecy boba tea while my daughter had ice cream. Let's talk about the atmosphere. Wizards, fairies, dragons, and animals....OH My! So much details in this small place. Felt like we were in a fairy tale book. Service was top notch making it fun for everyone. Very engaging and entertaining never a dull moment. They do have a speakeasy for members only or once in a while have events you can attend. Such a hidden gem and highly recommend this place for good entertainment! read more

My friend has been here before and was excited to show us. This place is hidden in a strip mall above a smoke shop and sex shop. The decor is over the top! So much to see and take in. Our server was great. So in character and friendly. We ordered the Dragon Breath and the Oracle. Be careful. The dragon's breath has a kick! Apparently Habanero! We asked for a dairy free dessert and he gave us something none of us could pronounce. There wasn't enough for a serving so he gave us a big taster of the rest. It was a shaved ice cup berry flavored. Good but really sweet. He went above and beyond. Great place for nerds! You can totally geek out on the decor everywhere!!! There's a secret room Medallion members. We could only go in if we were a member or with a member. It was a hidden bookshelf room. Overall. Interesting experience. read more
What an interesting place. They're all dressed up and the decorations are to the nines here. Nothing was nicer than seeing one of the girls do an extra long special magic lesson for the table next to us where grandparents took their grandchildren. All of the girls that helped were sweet and well dressed for the setting. The drinks themselves are quite sweet, a bit too sweet for me, but not something that would be upsetting. The only thing that kinda makes it awkward for me is seeing every single fantasy thing regurgitated here. There's a baby yoda statue where they're selling magic lessons. But that's just a 'me' thing. They have a small store that portrays that same amalgamation of 'nerd' or 'geek' culture. That's totally fine. Also, what I felt was that the place was just a bit too....overstimulating? So just be a bit careful if that's something you might be sensitive to. All in all though, it properly serves its purpose and an interesting place to go with friends! read more

If you're a fan of Dungeons and Dragons, Harry Potter, Game of thrones or anything mysterious and mystical, this is the place to go! I'm a big fan of everything they had here! I absolutely loved R2D2 at the entrance. It's a nice place to hang out and chat for a bit while enjoying boba drinks...I'm not a big fan of boba but wanted to try it out. We ordered the prophecy and the dragons breath, both were really good. Service was nice, a bit slow but the girls were nice. They also have a speakeasy but you have to be a member in order to get in or you can pay for a tour but they don't allow photography or video recordings once you enter in there. We had a wonderful time looking at all the fun decor...I'll be coming back and bringing my kiddos. Definitely worth coming! read more
I've bookmarked this place forever, and I'm so glad we got to check it out! Though it looks like it'll be a really cool, unique bar, they serve desserts, boba and tea, and is super family friendly! Our family is into Ghibli, Harry Potter etc, and the decor here is so magical and there's so much to see in every corner! The staff were all sweet and nice, and the kiddos loved the magic test. I highly recommend it if it's your first time here, you can bring your own wand if you want! The drinks and desserts were pretty good, the kids loved the Ube and the milk ice cream. Took my younger (11yo) daughter here for a daddy-daughter date on the weekend in the early afternoon. Family had been eyeing this place for a while since they are all Harry Potter fans and we've have them watch a variety of our favorite '80s and '90s movies. The ambience is obviously amazing, and the employees were all very kind and playing their roles well. I got the Cirenity and my daughter got the Prophecy boba drinks. Note that the general requirement is to get one drink per hour of stay, but we were probably there closer to 2 hours and they didn't make us buy another drink. That said, it might also be because I made my daughter do the wizard test, which was fairly entertaining. She was nervous but it turned out just fine of course. It's a little weird getting here because there is no signage outside. However, when you see Purple Haze you are there. Go up the stairs and you'll be at Elixir. This is such an enjoyable and unique experience. Think alcoholic drink prices, but with boba. There is so many things to look at and the servers make a great addition to the entire atmosphere. What an insanely elaborately amazing space. Every square inch has something to look at and honestly if this was a museum exhibit i could just go around the room and study everything for hours. Whoever designed this - you're a genius. And that creativity extends to the menu. Even the drinks are gamified! I've never had such creating boba before. I got the prophecy, a black tea with cardamom. Pretty drink, smoke bubble gun, VERY VERY SWEET. It come with a refill too and they let us take it away in a normal cup. Have seen this place several times on social media, looks magical and whimsical, so wanted to take my daughter and her friends to experience this. When you enter the place, you will be on the first floor and see a smoke shop, and to the right of it is an unassuming stairs leading to the second floor. Up there is a tarot fortune telling spot and then the entrance to Elixir. Outside is an adult lingerie place that is prominently name displayed. The reason I wanted to bring this up is in case you have smaller children joining you on this adventure. We arrived around 3pm on a Sunday. The staff of ladies welcoming you in are in costume and role play as if you've entered a fantastic middle earth tavern. Lots of random decor abound, from Harry Potter to Game of Thrones, and even some Star Wars. There is a membership portion of this place that cost $100 that will give you access to additional areas, monthly events, special menus. That I did not have. So I can only mention the regular menu does not offer food, only drinks and ice cream. Drinks were really good, well made, and ice cream portions were three big scoops. Each item was about $11-15 each. The drawbacks I experienced were no wizard test ($5 additional) available when we arrived. Not sure if this is a timed thing or what, but we saw some guest arrived after us do the test, and some that already ordered. They just told us that the next test won't be available for a bit and may have to wait. Another thing was when we arrived, boba ran out. The staff stated that they would need to make more and it would take 30 minutes. No mention of substitute. So my daughter expecting to celebrate her birthday got some ice cream instead since there's no reason for her to get a drink that suppose to include boba, but no boba. Then nothing "magical" with the drinks since the time period to get it passed or we may have to wait? So this place is more ideal for dates, group of friends for an older crowd. It may look cool and fun, but teenagers and younger may find it disappointing if those "magical" things don't happen. The other thing is the secret entrance to the area with extra drink menus and games. Without it, and having no clue what it could be, I would expect this more suited for locals or people that plan to come visit more often. It's not suited for the once in a while celebration type. Maybe there was some way to reserve table or setup a time thing, but it just felt like we were missing part of the fun and uniqueness of this place without the above mention. Also, drinking a $11+ boba drink without boba is just ... nothing special. Our server was awesome though, she had an accent that fit her theme and costume, and super friendly. read more
We went to Elixir for the first time -- it's a fun spot with a whimsical vibe! My fiancé and I, being the nerds we are, went with our best friends who definitely share the same nerdy gene, lol. We'd been excited to check it out for a while. I loved how it had that speakeasy feel--it's kind of hidden, with no big sign outside, just a small entrance up the stairs next to a smoke shop. The drinks were okay. I had the jasmine green tea, which was really nothing special, and the pistachio ice cream was okay too. Unfortunately, Martin never got his drink, even though we let our waitress know. She never came back, and when we tried to get her attention again, it felt like we were wearing an invisibility cloak, lol. We mentioned it to another waitress when we asked for the bill, and while she was nice about offering Martin's drink then, it was too late since we'd already finished everything, so she took it off our bill. The servers looked cool in their outfits, but the service definitely needs a little improvement. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, and it was even longer when we left, so be prepared to wait a bit. Overall, we still had a great time, but I hope the service improves next time! read more

Don't be frightened off by a few reviews that mention "not so good" service. I almost was and I'm glad I didn't listen - the waitresses were so charismatic and made our "wizard test" so much fun. Everyone coming in through the doors wants a wizard test- so they are direct and communicative that you have to tell them right away - they can only do 5 in a certain amount of time. So be patient and understanding. The ice cream - I tried the princess buttercup - it was very nice and I would get it again .. but there are too many great options I'm going to have to try another when I go back! I tried their cirenity and dragons breath drinks. Get the dragons breath at a drink for the whole table to try its very unique and fun but I could not have it as a full drink. The cirenity on the other hand.. that was delicious. Fun place to bring a group of friends - thank you to the waitresses that made the night so fun! I loved coming here as part of my "30 before 30" adventure to go to 30 animal themed tea shops before I turn 30. This place's logo counts along with the whole fantastical theme. There is a freaking unicorn and Phoenix on the wall!!! How cool. (As other reviews mention - search for the smoke shop, It has harry potter Easter egg hinting at the shop being there, enter the first door but then go up the stairs to the right.) Elixir is a magical place, a fantasy boba tea bar that has everything from Star Wars to anime and everything in between. Every spot in this tea bar has so many movie props, it was so fun hunting for Easter eggs in each nook and cranny. The prophesy smoke bubble on top of the boba tea was like casting a spell. Once you enter this place you feel so immersed in a magical world. Eric the owner was super friendly and the place feels safe and inclusive no matter what genre of magic and fantasy you're into. It was anime night on the night we went so there were many cosplayers there. They host different themed events at Elixir often, definitely check this place out if you want to be transported to another realm. read more

I was here last weekend with my boyfriend. I had the oracle drink and I forgot what he ordered but it was really good . I don't know the servers name but she was very nice and provided stellar service to us . She also recommended the nachos for us for $5. This is a place worth visiting if you love magic and Harry Potter. I loved the environment. There is so much to see. Many of the drinks are served with an experience like a giant smoked filled bubble you pop before drinking. The servers are very enthusiastic about it; always staying in character to make it a fun and memorable time. The drinks are all nonalcoholic and a little more on the sugary side or caffeinated so I would recommend coming earlier instead of late at night. read more

Yes. It's on the 2nd floor of a smoke shop. I don't recall it have an elevator. It's better without a stroller.

Yes! The base milk they use is lactose free, and the also offer subs with almond and oat milk.
