Came back for another go. Not a big matcha fan but wanted something with caffeine so opted for their Oreo matcha latte half sweet. I would say half sweet is optimal for the right taste, as anything more is just overly sweet. Boba tasted like it should be. My last experience was just awful because the worker couldn't care less and it showed, but it was an off experience I hope no one has to go through. I remember to ask for 50% sweet but I heard the cashier ask another customer later on about sugar level, which is helpful. Major kudos to the owner for being mindful of customer feedback to keep the quality up. Thank you!!
Boba Tea Planets, is a dessert place in Costa Mesa, in the same plaza as Panera Bread. Inside had plenty of tables that seat about 4-5 people each. Off to the right, was a bookshelf full of games to chill and play with friends. I've been here a couple times now. It doesn't seem to get too busy or busy at all in the evenings. The suite was clean and spacious. The staff were not personable so the environment didn't feel friendly, but to clarify, they weren't rude either. They offer coffee, taiyaki, egg tarts, soufflé pancakes and milk tea with the optional drink toppings, ice level and sweetness. We've only ordered the Oreo soufflé at this time, so I can't speak for the rest of their items. I actually tried to order two Oreo pancakes for the kids, but was told it would take about 40 minutes...I was confused and so were the kids. We've had souffle pancakes at other places before and it never takes 40 minutes. Not even 15/20 minutes. I asked how long it would take for one order and was told 25 minutes. Still, this in my honest opinion is way too long for souffle pancakes. They must not be equipped to make much at the same time or these don't get ordered often that they'd have an abundance ready to be cooked at any given time like a soufflé specialty place. That was a bit of a bummer. We initially ordered to dine in but had to switch to to-go since our table next door suddenly became available. The Oreo souffle was placed in a compostable container which I normally prefer and appreciate, but not for this type of food. The box became super soggy from the cream inside as well as from the steam coming from the souffle pancake. Not pictured is the container of ice cream that goes with the souffle pancake which my kids say was good. The souffle by itself was nice and eggy just as it should taste. The consistency was perfect. The cream on top of the souffle which can be seen in my photo, was a little salty. We scraped that cream off because we didn't like it at all. It ruined the souffle for us. Overall, Boba Tea Planets, was a three for me. Would I come back? Maybe, but not positive. Service was ok, making the space not feel fun or enjoyable. The wait time for a souffle is way too long. I'm willing to try them again but not rushing to do so at this time.
We are having a mini heat wave and I was looking for a light and refreshing drink. I grabbed a black tea with cream top here and it was exactly what I needed. The tea was not bitter and the cold foam was lightly sweet. Absolutely would come back to get this again. The taiyaki was also very tempting and I would love to give that a try next time also. The store concept is a little outside of the box but that's ok. Good parking. Great service - the staff is very helpful and I asked a lot of question. If you do not like powder base drinks, please note they do use powder for some of their drinks, so just ask. Indoor seating available. Please come and create your own adventure.
Cute lil boba shop nearby the OCMA! I was craving Thai tea so I stopped by with my friend for one. It was cute inside with some planet-themed decor. I only tried my one drink but noticed they served Taiyaki as well. The cups our drinks came in were cute! The parking lot is a decent size so it's easy to park at which is always a plus. Oh there was only one person working at the time we went in but she made our drinks pretty fast. So that was nice. I usually kind of judge a place based on how their boba is but I didn't add any to my drink, oops!
We were craving for boba after shopping at south coast and looked up on Yelp for the closest spot and its boba tea planets. We ordered the classic milk green tea with boba. The drink itself was good and had a good balance of milk to tea. The boba was alright, a little harder than I would've preferred but still acceptable.

After running errands and some shopping in the area, I wanted to grab a drink before heading home. Yelp came in handy and led me to here. The menu is rather simple. I decided to try the brown sugar milk tea. I did a yelp check in for 15% off and added an egg tart for $1 more. Everything came out to like $6, unheard of these days. The service was nice and prompt. The drink was pretty decent, 4/5. The egg tart was hot and flaky when it came out, also 4/5. Place was roomy with tables along the side if you want to study in a quiet establishment. Its not amazing, blow your mind away but I think this place is decent!
I've been on the search for the best boba the last few years. I would say it's good. Mango tea. The lady was kind. (I dislike boba establishments that force you to order on a kiosk ).
I got a matcha boba slushy and it was pretty good , it is not on the sweeter side, and had a decent amount of boba. And as a dancer it is close to segerstrom.
This place is so cute inside. It has plenty of tables to study and it was pretty empty when I went in the afternoon on a Sunday. They have a good selection of milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies. I got the passionfruit green tea and my boyfriend got the taro latter. He said he really likes the Toro latte coffee. The passion tea was a bit sour but in a good way because with the lychee jelly it was a good balance. Overall, this place is pretty good! I would probably come back to try a milk tea next time!

Decided to stop by here before going to a show at the Segerstrom. My partner got a Oreo Brûlée Matcha Latte with coffee jelly. He said that he enjoyed the crumbs of Oreos mixed in there with the coffee jelly. It definitely gave him a coffee kick. The woman when we walked in was extremely friendly and started up conversation from the moment we walked in. Definitely a little spot to check out
A super spacious boba spot with some huge sleeper hits! This place caught my attention when I was looking for Japanese-style souffle pancakes and the ones here were spectacular - exceptionally airy and generously paired with ice cream AND chocolate-covered strawberries! Our milk tea and fruit tea were also well above average and worth trying. Staff was warm, welcoming and helpful throughout our visit and we'd happily come back for more =D read more

First off let's start off with the good: * Clean shop, no sticky tables or trash laying around * Cashier was very nice * Quiet vibes & would be a good study spot Not so good: * I guess I was looking at an old menu because they no longer have the banana egg tart, only the original egg tart. I was really looking forward to that. * I asked about the fruit teas and if they use real fruit or syrup, unfortunately the worker said syrup. The prices are on the high side to be just using syrup :( * Asked for less sweet on my drink but was informed for the smoothie they could only reduce down to 75%. When I received my drink it was so sweet & I couldn't finish it. :( Sorry Boba Tea Planets ... the stars & moon didn't align for me here :( read more

A meal is not complete without dessert. Well, that is what I always say. Brought my wife and sister to Boba Tea Planets after our lunch meal. They were craving boba, and I was hoping they would have some sweet offerings to satisfy my sweettooth. Luckily for me they had egg tarts! Boba Tea Planets is located in a strip mall in Santa Ana. Lots of parking available during our visit. Shop was clean and the customer service was good. All of us enjoyed our drinks. My Strawberry Sunset was refreshing. The egg tarts were alright. Satisfied my craving. Next time we are in the area, we will be back. read more

Was studying near the plaze and wanted to grab boba before I left. This boba shop was located conveniently at a complex next to restaurants, so parking is easy! 1. Serving time: This is one of the longest waits I have ever had, considering there was no line to order. I probably waited at least 15 minutes just for one drink. There were two barristas and no order line as it was just an order kiosk, so I was expected faster preparation. 2. Taste (Sea Salt Cheese Matcha): I like when the Matcha has a deep flavor and isn't the cheaper Matcha that taste instant-y. The Sea Salt Cheese Foam was really good. I have tried places that served Sea Salt Cream Foam and only a select few actually served a Foam that complemented the drink really well. I can say this place is one of those select few! 3. Boba: The Boba was warm. Therefore, it was just freshly prepared. The texture is not too soft; it was just chewy enough! 4. Price: I would say it is on the average price of a matcha drink ($6.15 w/o tax) with the boba it becomes almost $7, which is actually cheaper than other places that cost AT LEAST $7 with just one topping. This drink already included the sea salt foam. I just added the boba. Overall: Flavor is very authentic and rich. However, because of how long the drink took despite not going at a crowded time, I give this place 4/5 stars. read more

Found myself in Costa Mesa, waiting on my sister to finish her work and decided to head over to a nearby Panera. Unfortunately, I never went to Panera because as soon as I parked and looked up I saw the most delicious soufflé pancake poster at this spot. Needless to say my lunch plans immediately went out the window lol! By far the best soufflé pancakes I've ever had. They were so delicate and flavorful, and have ruined regular pancakes forever. The salted whipped cream and the addition of the strawberry jam/syrup added a nice salty and tart flavor to balance the sweet. Fantastic! Lovely and Very kind employees, great service!! Also, a Really calm ambiance with a Nice cafe feel. Plus awesome music playlist selections. I'll be making sure to come back to Portable Planets any time I'm in the area for sure! Thanks! read more

I came in and ordered a thai tea and a strawberry souffle pancake. I got 50% ice and 50% sweet for the tea and it was perfect! The staff warned me that souffle would take 50 minutes to make which was fine by me because I was just going to sit and read. The souffle was so good! (Please look at the smiley faces they made for me) I couldn't eat all of it because the last bit was covered syrup so it was too sweet for me. My only complaint is that I was freezing in there, it felt like the AC was blasting. read more

The service is amazing! I didn't catch her name but she was very kind and nice!! We ordered the $1 eggtart add on (if you purchase a drink). This eggtart is crispy and buttery, I enjoyed it a lot! The drink we ordered was a Sea Salt Cheese Strawberry Smoothie, which tastes great. It tastes like the inside of those Strawberry Shortcake Ice cream bars! Also, the person who helped us out gave us the extra bit they made (what's in the white cup!) - so sweet!! The popcorn chicken is so good, it's crispy and has the right level of spice. I would order again! Lastly, I love the branding and ambiance of the place. The seating is so nice and there's so many electrical outlets. I would definitely come back to work here! The branding is so cute, I love the little astronauts, especially the one on the cup dabbing. Would come back again! read more

drinks are really good! been here a few times now as i'm local. i love the strawberry coconut, it's sweet and you can really taste the coconut if that's something you like. plus it is close to ocma and south coast plaza if you're in the area. the service is quick and it's super cute on the inside! read more

I really enjoyed everything I got! The Taiyaki was super yummy and it was a really good snack size to me! I got the Strawberry meets Coconut drink and I love it! You can really taste the strawberry and coconut really well. It's not overpowering. I would totally recommend this place! read more
