Came back for another go. Not a big matcha fan but wanted something with caffeine so opted for their Oreo matcha latte half sweet. I would say half sweet is optimal for the right taste, as anything more is just overly sweet. Boba tasted like it should be. My last experience was just awful because the worker couldn't care less and it showed, but it was an off experience I hope no one has to go through. I remember to ask for 50% sweet but I heard the cashier ask another customer later on about sugar level, which is helpful. Boba Tea Planets, is a dessert place in Costa Mesa, in the same plaza as Panera Bread. Inside had plenty of tables that seat about 4-5 people each. Off to the right, was a bookshelf full of games to chill and play with friends. I've been here a couple times now. It doesn't seem to get too busy or busy at all in the evenings. The suite was clean and spacious. The staff were not personable so the environment didn't feel friendly, but to clarify, they weren't rude either. They offer coffee, taiyaki, egg tarts, soufflé pancakes and milk tea with the optional drink toppings, ice level and sweetness. We've only ordered the Oreo soufflé at this time, so I can't speak for the rest of their items. I actually tried to order two Oreo pancakes for the kids, but was told it would take about 40 minutes...I was confused and so were the kids. We've had souffle pancakes at other places before and it never takes 40 minutes. Not even 15/20 minutes. I asked how long it would take for one order and was told 25 minutes. Still, this in my honest opinion is way too long for souffle pancakes. They must not be equipped to make much at the same time or these don't get ordered often that they'd have an abundance ready to be cooked at any given time like a soufflé specialty place. That was a bit of a bummer. We initially ordered to dine in but had to switch to to-go since our table next door suddenly became available. The Oreo souffle was placed in a compostable container which I normally prefer and appreciate, but not for this type of food. The box became super soggy from the cream inside as well as from the steam coming from the souffle pancake. Not pictured is the container of ice cream that goes with the souffle pancake which my kids say was good. The souffle by itself was nice and eggy just as it should taste. The consistency was perfect. The cream on top of the souffle which can be seen in my photo, was a little salty. We scraped that cream off because we didn't like it at all. It ruined the souffle for us. Overall, Boba Tea Planets, was a three for me. Would I come back? Maybe, but not positive. Service was ok, making the space not feel fun or enjoyable. The wait time for a souffle is way too long. I'm willing to try them again but not rushing to do so at this time. read more

A super spacious boba spot with some huge sleeper hits! This place caught my attention when I was looking for Japanese-style souffle pancakes and the ones here were spectacular - exceptionally airy and generously paired with ice cream AND chocolate-covered strawberries! We are having a mini heat wave and I was looking for a light and refreshing drink. I grabbed a black tea with cream top here and it was exactly what I needed. The tea was not bitter and the cold foam was lightly sweet. Absolutely would come back to get this again. The taiyaki was also very tempting and I would love to give that a try next time also. The store concept is a little outside of the box but that's ok. Good parking. Great service - the staff is very helpful and I asked a lot of question. Cute lil boba shop nearby the OCMA! I was craving Thai tea so I stopped by with my friend for one. It was cute inside with some planet-themed decor. I only tried my one drink but noticed they served Taiyaki as well. The cups our drinks came in were cute! The parking lot is a decent size so it's easy to park at which is always a plus. Oh there was only one person working at the time we went in but she made our drinks pretty fast. So that was nice. After running errands and some shopping in the area, I wanted to grab a drink before heading home. Yelp came in handy and led me to here. The menu is rather simple. I decided to try the brown sugar milk tea. I did a yelp check in for 15% off and added an egg tart for $1 more. Everything came out to like $6, unheard of these days. The service was nice and prompt. The drink was pretty decent, 4/5. The egg tart was hot and flaky when it came out, also 4/5. Place was roomy with tables along the side if you want to study in a quiet establishment. Horrible service; I had to get a refund since I refuse to wait over 10 minutes for the most simple drink to make. I have places to go yo! This place is so cute inside. It has plenty of tables to study and it was pretty empty when I went in the afternoon on a Sunday. They have a good selection of milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies. I got the passionfruit green tea and my boyfriend got the taro latter. He said he really likes the Toro latte coffee. The passion tea was a bit sour but in a good way because with the lychee jelly it was a good balance. Overall, this place is pretty good! I loved the flavoring in the drinks, it's much better and less bitter compared to other shops. The girl cashier with curly hair and glasses was incredibly kind and patient with my order. My one concern, though, is that there have been one/two men harassing both customers and the cashier that had served me. There was only one person working when my friends and I came but he was very fast! I loved the oreo crumbs in the brulee!! The decorations are very on theme and seems like a good place to study. Decided to stop by here before going to a show at the Segerstrom. My partner got a Oreo Brûlée Matcha Latte with coffee jelly. They were craving boba, and I was hoping they would have some sweet offerings to satisfy my sweettooth. Luckily for me they had egg tarts! Boba Tea Planets is located in a strip mall in Santa Ana. I arrived on Tuesday (09/05) at around 2:15/2:20 PM and was greeted by a younger girl (didn't catch her name) but she provided great service. She was super friendly and happy to help with any questions I had. From the time I entered to the moment I exited, it was a very pleasant experience. I ordered their Thai Tea Sunset, 50% sweet, with boba. This drink was great and the boba was cooked to perfection as well. I should've probably gone with 75% sweet because it tasted a bit more on the icier side but that was my mistake. The brulee in the drink was delicious and not too sweet like other places. Was studying near the plaze and wanted to grab boba before I left. This boba shop was located conveniently at a complex next to restaurants, so parking is easy! 1. Serving time: This is one of the longest waits I have ever had, considering there was no line to order. I probably waited at least 15 minutes just for one drink. There were two barristas and no order line as it was just an order kiosk, so I was expected faster preparation. 2. Taste (Sea Salt Cheese Matcha): I like when the Matcha has a deep flavor and isn't the cheaper Matcha that taste instant-y. The Sea Salt Cheese Foam was really good. I have tried places that served Sea Salt Cream Foam and only a select few actually served a Foam that complemented the drink really well. I can say this place is one of those select few! 3. Boba: The Boba was warm. Therefore, it was just freshly prepared. The texture is not too soft; it was just chewy enough! 4. Price: I would say it is on the average price of a matcha drink ($6.15 w/o tax) with the boba it becomes almost $7, which is actually cheaper than other places that cost AT LEAST $7 with just one topping. This drink already included the sea salt foam. I just added the boba. Overall: Flavor is very authentic and rich. However, because of how long the drink took despite not going at a crowded time, I give this place 4/5 stars. read more

Found myself in Costa Mesa, waiting on my sister to finish her work and decided to head over to a nearby Panera. Unfortunately, I never went to Panera because as soon as I parked and looked up I saw the most delicious soufflé pancake poster at this spot. Needless to say my lunch plans immediately went out the window lol! By far the best soufflé pancakes I've ever had. They were so delicate and flavorful, and have ruined regular pancakes forever. The salted whipped cream and the addition of the strawberry jam/syrup added a nice salty and tart flavor to balance the sweet. Fantastic! Lovely and Very kind employees, great service!! The staff warned me that souffle would take 50 minutes to make which was fine by me because I was just going to sit and read. The souffle was so good! (Please look at the smiley faces they made for me) I couldn't eat all of it because the last bit was covered syrup so it was too sweet for me.
