Ever since my positive, unplanned stop at the Fashion Island location, I've been craving this gelato. How convenient that we now have a Bacio di Latte in Irvine! The shop is bright and cheerful, offering limited but cute seating options inside their comfortably air-conditioned shop (a few 2-person tables with padded chairs parallel to their display case; along the front window, counter-height seating with stylish bar stools that have the proper height ratio on one side; and milk can stools -- my thoughts, too short -- for the taller counter on the other side). Outside seating consists of a few tables right outside the shop, as well as a variety of options throughout the shared common areas. My piccolo size (allowing 2 flavors) was delightfully satisfying; again, I selected their (regular) Pistachio (a favorite -- smooth, creamy, and not too sweet) and Buttercream Pretzel (nice balance of sweet and salty). Given the cost, allowing myself this luxury occasionally is a nice treat (hubby annoyingly notes that the cup's raised bottom reduces its capacity). My favorite gelato shop! I first discovered this place at Fashion Island in Newport. I was immediately drawn by the decor and how cozy it felt. The flavors are bold but not overpowering. The texture is velvety smooth and it never tastes overly sugary. I always stick to the piccolo size because it's just right for sampling 2 flavors. My regular pick is coffee and raspberry but recently I switched it up and paired raspberry with cookies & cream. That combination was refreshing with just the right touch of richness. The service is always good and everyone is friendly. The price is a bit steep compared to other gelato shops but the quality makes up for it. They had a ton of flavors to choose from, and I appreciated that they offered samples, which made deciding a lot easier. I actually tried to go to the Fashion Island (Newport Beach) location first, but when I drove by and saw the massive line there I switched gears and headed to this location at the Spectrum. Spectrum parking is pretty bad on the weekends (who said the mall is dead?!), but I managed to get lucky at the first structure I tried. Tip - they are located right next to Pepper Lunch in the Spectrum. There was also a line here when I arrived past 7PM on a Saturday, but it wasn't as bad as the line at Fashion Island. The line went by pretty quickly. You do get to sample flavors so make sure you view the menu via QR code while waiting! There were a handful of flavors NOT on the menu, but most of them were. I got a small cup so I could have 2 flavors: I picked the Belgian chocolate and Cremia torino. Both amazing flavors and not overly sweet either. Also tried tiramisu, liked that one too but I could only pick 2 for my small cup! In simple words... yes it's delicious and of great quality. Not just that but they also have some really good and some unique flavors for any gelato lover. This is located at the Irvine Spectrum Center near the movie theater. It's decorated very nicely and have some inside and outside seating areas. You can chose from a variety of items like affogato, cups, cones, dipped cones and more. When it comes to gelato I always have to get one flavor that is similar to Nutella, in this case their Giandujotto (chocolate and hazelnut). I still think this is one of their best flavors, but along with the I tried their pistachio crunch which is basically pistachio gelato with a hard chocolate shell. I had those two on a cone and it was simply amazing. The crunch from the chocolate on the pistachio and the nutty aftertaste of the chocolate hazelnut was just amazing. A step above most gelato spots, which can lean a little watery. You can really taste the quality in every bite, and they definitely don't skimp on richness or flavor. We only waited about 15 -20 minutes, so don't be intimidated if you see a crowd, it's worth the wait. Here's what I sampled: Sweet Cream - Reminded me of sweet cake frosting. Light, creamy, and nostalgic. But wasn't for me. Pistachio - Classic nutty flavor, more on the savory side. Solid pick. Pistachio Crema - A sweeter take on the pistachio flavor. Super smooth but little bit too sweet for my taste. Strawberry Cheesecake - Okay yes, I know. But I am a sucker for a cheesecake flavor, and this one slapped. It has a strong tart flavor with a hint of strawberry flavor. I ended up going with strawberry cheesecake and pistachio, and I think they paired perfectly. The tartness from the cheesecake mixed really well with the nutty pistachio. And the gelato itself? So creamy. I've never had gelato this creamy before. Honestly made me a little sad when I hit the bottom of the cup. If I had one critique, it's that it's a bit pricey, about $8 for a small scoop. Another amazing thing about this place is that you can get two flavors for even the smallest size. If you aren't looking to eat too much, you can share the small and get different flavors. The flavors are rich but not overwhelming so you feel very satisfied with even the piccolo (small) size. My favorite here are the hazelnut flavors and I was also very amazed by how good the pistachio flavor is. It's rare to find good pistachio gelato since they can often be hit or miss. The service here is great and they are smart to designate a person to a party. You don't ever feel rushed getting your samples and the staff are always very thoughtful about their recommendations. The ambiance is also cozy and inviting. There are some seats indoors and plenty out in front. You do feel like you're transported a bit when you enter simply with the smells of the shop. Bacio di Latte is hands down one of our favorite gelato spots and a must stop every time we are near Newport or the Irvine Spectrum. After dinner we already knew this was where we were going. The gelato here is absolutely phenomenal and easily comparable to authentic Italian or European gelato in both flavor and texture. Every scoop has the perfect balance of creaminess airiness and density. It is rich without being heavy and never overly sweet which is exactly how gelato should be. We have tried a lot of flavors here and they have all been consistently excellent. The hazelnut Giandujotto three chocolates Bacio di Latte flavor mint strawberry sorbet and mango sorbet are all standout options. Each flavor tastes clean balanced and true to what it is supposed to be without anything overpowering. This is easily one of the best gelato spots in all of Orange County in my opinion and it is our number one go to every time. Always a ten out of ten and cannot recommend it enough. read more

Outside has plenty of seats in the communal areas. The lines don't move very quickly because they allow customers to taste test before ordering a scope of gelato or sorbet. If you want to skip the line, there's an option to purchase a pint for $16 from the fridge at the back of the shop. However, the pints don't have all the flavors that are on display. The prices are fair for the equality. I opted for the Classic cup "Regular" size which allows up to 3 scoops. It was enough to share with 2 people. The strawberry sorbet, salted caramel gelato, and hazelnut gelato were amazing. I also got to try the pistachio and matcha latte and it was not my cup of tea - not something I can recommend. It was almost as expensive as the ice cream, so I wouldn't say it was worth it. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more of their gelato and sorbet flavors on a sunny day. read more

Bacio di Latte uses high quality fresh ingredients in their gelato and the consistency is perfect at every location I've been to. They source some items from Italy, which also utilizing the best of the local farms in California. The best of both worlds. There was a line, but I felt like we moved through it pretty quickly. Staff was kind and welcoming, and offered us to sample any flavors we would like to try. My cousin and my niece both got a Piccolo Cup ($7.45). My cousin the caffe & carmellatte and nocciola, and my niece went all in on the nocciola, which is their hazelnut. I had the Piccolo Cone ($9.15) and I got their namesale Bacio di Latte, which is a sweet cream. Can't go wrong with any flavors here. They have sorbets for the folks who are lactose or vegan too. Like, one bite of the Crema Torino and I was instantly transported to 2014 on my study abroad trip trying hazelnut gelato for the first time in Turin. It's incredible. And so creamy. Good quality gelato but comes at a high price and wait! I tried two flavors that complemented each other well, the yogurt and the fragola (strawberry sorbet). The yogurt flavor was great, similar in flavor to the yogurtland plain tart, but richer and creamier in texture. The fragola tasted like real strawberry and was very refreshing. I also sampled the bacio di latte sweet cream flavor, and it was pleasant and reminded me of a good quality milk flavor ice cream. I ordered the $7.45 piccolo sized cup, and the portion size felt more like a kid's size. We also came on a Sunday night at around 8:30, and the line took 30 minutes, mainly because of the slowdown from people trying samples. I think the experience could have been improved if they were more staffed. For the price and the long wait, I don't think I can justify treating myself to this again! read more

I finally tried this place! Aesthetically, it is very pleasing in here. They even have a great bathroom at the back (parents, if your kiddo needs to go potty this is for you LOL). They have plenty of flavors, and even a waffle cone in a cup option which is cool. Got the dark chocolate flavor here and it was great, but maybe not my favorite ever when comparing to other ice cream shops. There are a few high top stools inside but also some seating outside. 1/18/2025 A welcomed addition at Irvine Spectrum! According to the employee, they opened 2-3 months ago. ORDERED the Crema Torino and their seasonal Tiramisù Double Mascarpone on a Ciocchino sugar cone with nuts. The Crema Torino tasted like Ferrero Rocher. Very creamy too! The Tiramisù Double Mascarpone did taste like a tiramisu, but with a little less coffee flavor. Still delicious though. Highly recommend the Ciocchino sugar cone or waffle cone with nuts for your next gelato experience! It's indulgent and delicious! CUSTOMER SERVICE I was not greeted when I walked through the door. There were 3 workers there and nobody even looked up. Then when it finally came to my turn to order, nobody even cracked a smile. There was no attitude, just not as friendly. Except for one worker who served me, the other two workers just ignored me, even when I made eye contact; looked down as they worked. To be honest, even Newport Bch location has the same problem. I think employers need to up their pay or hire someone who want to be there. I normally don't care if workers don't smile, as long as there's no attitude and no bad service, but boy did they all look gloomy! LOCATION Right between The Alley and soon to open Pepper Lunch. The Regal Theater is also right next to it as well. Directly across Cucina Enoteca, Tendergreens, The Improv and Sprinkles.
