Came here on a weekday afternoon to try out the infamous shake shack. They have tablets stationed for self ordering or you can order with the staff. Tablet was fast and easy. For $16 I got a cheeseburger and fries- to be fair I did upgrade to the truffle fries. I maybe had high expectations and unfortunately that was a mistake. The fries were 1. Not hot, but heatlamp warm at best. 2. Lacking all flavor! Even the Parmesan on top was pretty much flavorless. The burger- was meh. The meat didn't seem to be seasoned. The bun was soft and tasty tho. read more

As soon as I saw this place being built close to work, I literally told all my coworkers about it and was so excited about it!!!! I'm so happy there's one that's finally close to me and so convenient! The other locations, I have to park in a structure and walk to it but this one I can literally walk a few steps!!!!! Everything I've had here has been just amazing!!!!! I had to make my coworker try it today! It was the perfect time, not that busy at work, I'm only there until lunch and he's so picky about food sometimes! He's vegetarian so I raved about the 'Shroom burger . I also told him he needs to get a shake . He has to get a whole meal since it was his first time! He got the Limited Time only Chocolate Salted Caramel Shake . He loved everything!!! So happy he got to try it! I can't wait to go when I'm not cutting down on my intake! Definitely worth a cheat day I wanted to try their 50/50 Yuzu iced tea/ lemonade but they didn't have any. read more

The food was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious! The Smoke Shack Burger was incredible--I especially loved the cherry peppers, and the smoky bacon with melted cheese made every bite perfect. The service was friendly and attentive, and the space itself was clean, bright, and not crowded, which made the experience even better. I also have to mention their Sauvignon Blanc in a can--it was surprisingly good and such a fun touch! read more

Yesterday, I ordered a cheeseburger and chocolate milk shake. I couldn't believe it. The burger meat was so dry and the top bun was tiny. Like they cut in half a Hawaiian Sweet roll and plopped it on top of the cheese. Not worth the money or my time. Never going back. Give me an In/Out burger any day. read more

We ordered the Shack Burger and fries. The Shack Burger is delicious and the potato bun gives it an even better flavor. The crinkle cut fries were crispy and flavorful as well. There wasn't much indoor seating but there was patio seating outside. The burger and fries were good, but pricing is on the higher side. That said, we would still come back given the quality of the burger and fries. read more

We decided to try after we couldn't find parking at Northgate market. Thankfully we found the last free spot here. I ordered the Veggie shack burger. I wish I tried the regular shack burger instead but thought they put some fun toppings on the burger and will be worth trying. I would say I like the patty with the crunchy onions and sauce. I do not like the large pickle slices. I wish they were smaller and pickled for much longer. Or sweet pickles. The fries were okay and wouldn't mind skipping next time. The shake was magical and I get why this place is a called Shake Shack. The service was efficient. We ordered inside on a Saturday afternoon and were helped in about 5 minutes. We were able to speak with the employee rather than use the iPad. She was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is clean and modern. My experience from ordering online to pick up in store. I ordered for my whole family we got a variety of things! We tried both the beef and chicken burgers. 1. When I went to go pick up my order it was on the shelf by where the line was which made it hard to get my food as it was crowded. I felt bad having to say excuse me to everyone and they probably thought I was trying to cut in! 2. One of my bags had my order and the other one didn't have anything on it so I was having to check and make sure it was mine. 3. The burger tasted very plain nothing special or flavor. I got the gluten free bread option for my burger and that wasn't even good. The fries I actually really enjoyed! I will probably give this place another try but already my first impression was not good oh and also the prices were pretty high up there! read more

The service at this Shake Shack location is exceptional. It really sets it apart from the other locations. The employees kept coming around asking us if we needed refills, more sauces, etc. It was very unexpected. It's still very new and very clean, which is also a plus. The food is standard American burger fare, but on the pricey side. It was about $40 for the two of us, and I only got a single patty, no double. The black and white shake is tasty and has lovely bits of chocolate in it; I really enjoyed it. read more

First and last time at a shake shak! Fully believe in paying above and beyond if food is fresh and tasty. This hamburger was $10 !!! For a single quarter size piece of spoiled tomato, and a patty that was tasteless! Shake was no better $20 meal and they ask for a tip! Do not expect this chain to last very long...the place was empty and it was dinner time should have taken the clue. read more

Don't waste your time. $48, got 3 single cheeseburgers the size of an In N Out Burger, 3 fries and 1 large drink. Ok so it's expensive, maybe it will be amazing! Nope, if you like In-N-Out Burger, this is worse. And literally twice the cost. Automatic kiosk with 3 order iPads, 2 were down. Waiting 10 min with workers standing around none offered to take a manual order. Waited 25 minutes with maybe 6 customers at the location just to get my food. Wouldn't care if the food was great. Over paid and under delivered. After paying twice as much for a sub par soggy burger whose lettuce wasn't even crispy which is one of only like 3 ingredients on the burger, go somewhere else. read more

Couldn't be more disappointing. This was our signature burger, the most expensive burger on the menu and one of the smallest burgers I've ever had. This burger was $11. I ate it in two bites. I've been craving Shake Shack, ever since I first had it several years ago in Downtown Chicago. So when I found out a location was opening near me, I was so excited. They have a very tasty burger and my favorite type of fries! (Crinkle Cut). The soft pillowy potato buns and the flavorful patties are my favorite part of their burgers. People try to relate it to In-N-Out, but they are very different burgers. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

Okay this was an interesting experience. The food was solid. The service was friendly and prompt. But it didn't feel like somewhere that should've cost $36 for two burgers, one basic order of fries, and one milk shake. We saw you could order at a kiosk when we walked in. There was someone available to take orders but he was occupied so we opted for the kiosk. It was fine to use but asked for a tip at the end? Didn't love that. The burgers are delicious, no real way around that. They cost too much, but are great. Milk shake was a bit melted but tasted great (cookies and cream). The fries were good but maybe a tiny bit overdone? 3.5 stars rounding up to 4 here because the burger was really solid. read more

I don't eat fast food very often but sometimes a good burger is just the thing. The avocado bacon smash burger is it!! Very well prepared and wrapped up. Burgers like this can fall apart but this one does not. The fries and onion rings are not the greatest but they're okay. read more

Not sure why anyone would like this place just very mediocre and for the price I expect perfection. The burger was very plain and overcooked and the fries are disgusting frozen trash even the shake was nothing impressive at all. I will not go back in and out is way better for half the price. read more

Expensive and they can't seem to get the orders right. I ordered a $14 mushroom stack and got a regular mini burger. How can they get away with charging that much for such a measly tiny burger ? I paid for my shake and then I waited for a while and then the sales person came out and told me I had to pay for it again even though I showed proof on my phone that it was already paid for out of my account. The manager did not care so I left. I paid for everything and left without it. This place has horrible reviews, and the manager was just as bad as the reviews say. read more

I'm not itching to go back but the beef is admittedly better than any other fast food burger. The rest of the situation is a bit of a disaster. The ordering experience is odd, and the food is meager portions. I think the shake shack menu is generally overstuffed - they should instead make a few great things instead of 10 burgers with weird toppings. It's also a shame they don't carry the vegan shake. You built this as a shake shack but didn't leave room to support the full menu? read more

Service is slow even when it was not busy. Not great, burgers were a bit greasy. Asked for grilled onions and got premade onion jam like things in a tub. Disappointed and will not be back. Burger Lounge down the street is much better read more

What a dumpster fire. This has to be one of the most poorly designed burger joints I've been to. The food is not good, burger completely grey and flavorless. Burger bun was completely wet and falling apart. Fries are tiny for the price, and also pretty flavorless. I just feel bad for the employees because you can tell they're doing their best but there's clearly a major lack of management and training. The ambiance is not clean feeling, loud and crammed. There's nowhere good to wait in line or for your food. I like shake shake in other locations, I used to go a lot when I lived in DTLA, but this place is a disaster. read more

Just here to say--do yourself a favor and get takeout from a nice restaurant if you want a real burger. This place charges $25+ for a burger meal that leaves you questioning your life choices. The burgers are small and poor quality, the fries are eh, and the shakes? Meh at best. And, they ask for a tip and you feel obligated bc last thing you need is the guy in the back spitting in your food. In-N-Out tastes waaaay better, and costs waaaay less. I could've had Gulfstream and still had money left for dessert. Highway robbery--with a side of heartburn. read more

I would give this place a 3.5. I am perturbed by the layout as there is nowhere to wait for your food unless you find a table or stand outside. but if i'm getting to-go, I don't want to take up a table ya know what I mean? the line is crazy even if it's a short one lol, it just screams chaos. however, the Customer Service is good! they were very attentive and didn't get my order wrong as some other reviewers have mentioned. i'm hoping those were due to it being a brand new location and mistakes or jitters can be a part of that unfortunately. the only issue I encountered was with the Kiosk I ordered from. I went to pay, but then I kept getting an error message that said, "We've made a huge mistake. Looks like your bag is out of sync. Try that again" but wouldn't tell me what the issue was. turned out the Sunset Iced Tea was out of stock smh. please fix this so we know what the issue is as this held up the line too. on to the food... sorry no pics as I was STARVING lol. I ordered the Smoke Shack, Fries with a side of cheese and a 50/50 Dragonfruit Pom drink. the burger was good! crispy bacon and just enough heat on the peppers. fries were on the more soggy side which is not my favorite, but it did suffice with the cheese. the drink had little fruit bits in it, it was ok - didn't like it much as was super mushy. overall, just know it will likely be busy if you visit, so patience will be necessary lol. The Burger lounge, from the outside, looks like one of those high-end burger places that promises the moon and delivers a lot less. But let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised when I went in and was shocked by the quality of the food, the appearance of the establishment, the friendliness of the crew, and the overall meal experience! The exterior, gives the feeling that this is an exclusive lounge, which from the inside is very well appointed and I love the feeling and the casual vibe that it gives off. The staff is super friendly and very welcoming, and the place is clean as a pin. Definitely makes for a great dining experience. I love the fact that they have different options on the menu, I decided to opt for the house combo which was a burger. Your choice of fries or onion rings and a drink. I picked the single burger with no tomatoes but it came with pickles, lettuce, and your choice of onions. I opted for the caramelized onions and I am so glad I did! I ordered the onion rings extra crispy, and they turned out absolutely perfect! To wash it down, I opted for the hibiscus drink and was not disappointed. Absolutely excellent all the way around. The real star of the show however, was the hamburger. This is not the biggest burger you will ever see, but it is definitely good sized, and pax more flavor than you would expect. I mean for a little bit more than you would spend for a Big Mac combo at McDonald's, this burger blows it completely out of the water. It was fresh, well cooked, and one of the tastiest burgers I've had in a long time. I didn't even mention, that it's all delivered to you on a warm metal plate. A warm plate! It kept the burger hot when you set it down to have some onion rings and pick it back up and it's still nice and warm. A very nice touch. One thing I do have to comment on is the thousand Island dressing on the side, you're going to want about a quart of that because it is so delicious. Perfect thing to dip onion rings in or just slather on your hamburger because why not? The bottom line, now that I know about this place, I'm probably going to become a regular here. Do yourself a favor and if you are in Orange county and near the 17th Street area, go get yourself a bite to eat at the Burger lounge. You will not be disappointed. I will be back very, very soon!

There have been a few times when they made the wrong order by mixing up sauces among items I have ordered. For example, the sauces I order for fries were added to a hot dog. That can be annoying, especially when the orders state which condiments go with what items. They do correct the orders, which I appreciate. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Now it wasn't that busy so I would think that the server would take a moment to check to see that the coffee was warm, but apparently that didn't happen. I got my food and started digging in and the coffee came out a few minutes later. The salad was good, had a nice size chicken breast on top and the dressing was really tasty, not overpowering. I was a little bit stunned at the bill when it came to the table and it was $35 plus dollars, I guess the food and grocery hikes still surprise me, although they shouldn't. The dining experience was okay, it wasn't stellar by any means, but it was adequate, I didn't felt neglected or rushed in any way. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the coffee incident. Having been a server in the food industry. That's definitely one of the things you look for. Bottom line, I would probably come back again. But there are many other places in Costa Mesa to try.

Overall a very solid, simple, straight-to-the-point cheeseburger with an excellent bun. According to their website, they have a bakery make their buns with their secret/proprietary recipe. It's not a place I would drive out of my way for from Anaheim, but if I were in the area or if I lived nearby, I would definitely stop in from time to time.
