Thought it was ok. Not a huge fan of the flavors and sweet cole slaw in it. Wasn't very saucy and the chicken sandwich wasn't one cohesive piece of chicken but 2 small pieces in a burger. I thought it was kinda weird cause ur sandwich falls apart bc of it. Mild spicy the perfect amount of kick for me. Even spicy spice was bearable so they nail the heat levels for those.
I really wanted to love this spot but left very underwhelmed. The food is very greasy and takes long to come out.
Found this spot through TikTok, and sad to say that it fell very short even though it looked very aesthetically pleasing. Located at the Lab. Parking can be busy depending on the time of day. Ordering: Kiosk ordering only. They have two at the front of the restaurant. FOOD - Fries 3/5: Very dry and bland. -Chicken Tenders 3/5: They were on the larger side but the chicken lacked a in flavor. Didn't taste like it was marinated on the inside. - Hot Chicken Caesar Salad 3/5: Just ok, nothing special to notate. - Potato Salad 2/5 - Dipping sauce options 3/5 In terms of Nashville Hot chicken/tenders, I think I lean towards Dave's and Cluck's more.
We been noticing this place while visiting the lab plenty of times now and always miss this place as we are leaving. But not today...... today we finally decided to stop in. There is 2 kiosks for ordering self explanatory. The place was pretty empty (yay for us) service was good and the food was delicious. Very flavorful, today I just ordered a grilled cheese since I wasn't that hungry. My son had the 3 tenders with fries. Wow portions are big. My son enjoyed it. Glad we came in and it won't the the last. Plenty more to try next
Portions are HUMUNGOUS - my bf and I could only finish the loaded fries. We had to take the nuggets home Service was great, they brought the food tray out to our table. Super nice
I came today for lunch with my daughter and the loaded fries looked so tasty, so I ordered that. I was disappointed in the unseasoned fries that were already cold when I started eating it! I guess I got fries just sitting there and they put cooked chicken on top. Look... it's not all the way good if some of the food is cold. My daughter ordered the big sando and enjoyed it. We also ordered the Mac and cheese and it was sooo cheesy! The vibe is nice and the service was cool.
Bred is definitely one of the better chicken tender spots in Orange County. The chicken is cooked to order, always fresh, and the spice levels are spot-on. Plus, it's a great option if you prefer Halal, since the chicken is Halal-certified. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the sides. The potato salad is a bit runny, and the mac and cheese lacks flavor. If they improve the sides, this could easily be a 5-star spot.
Bred Hot Chicken is located at the LAB in Costa Mesa. Ordering is done via self kiosk and fairly easy to use. The space is clean and plenty of seating available. They have a huge tv and play some solid music. The food is pretty pricey as all sides are an extra addition. I ordered chicken sliders ($13.50) and did a side of Mac n cheese ($7.50). The sliders were decent size but felt like they were lacking in flavor. Maybe I needed a spicier level. Otherwise, the Mac n cheese was delicious and highlight of my meal. Service is self serve ordering through a kiosk but food was ready in a decent amount of time.

Dropped by after trivia night at Bootlegger's and enjoyed the flavor of my medium spice juicy chicken tenders. Pickles were brined to perfection. Crinkle cut fries could use a lil' more salt but that's an easy fix. Mac 'n cheese at these spots are a hit or miss for me but their white cheddar mac 'n cheese was a HIT.
We found the spot walking around the lab and decided to try it. It was open late at night and we decided to try the loaded chicken fries and a chicken sandwich. If and whenever in the area would definitely try it again I recommend the chicken sandwich. It was nice and juicy. I liked the loaded chicken fries a lot better too because it had fries and sauce with coleslaw.

Bred Hot has been around for a couple years now and I couldn't be happier. Situated at the entrance of The Lab Anti-mall, you cannot miss the bright, red Bred Hot Chicken neon sign as you drive in. There are kiosks to order at when you walk in and the staff have always been upbeat and friendly. The cooks are great & the owners are sweet as pie. I love the service here. The two piece chicken tenders are so delicious and just as they should be - tender, moist and juicy. My favorite dipping sauce is the comeback sauce (similar to thousand island, but better) which you have two options regular (clear) or spicy (black). The spicy version definitely packs some heat! Be ready to have a glass of water next to you & extra napkins to blow your nose. And, if you're a fan of crinkle cut fries, they've got THE BEST! Their fries are crispy, golden, buttery and probably my favorite thing on the menu. Sometimes I find myself coming here just for their french fries and the best part is they're open late. Perfect for some late night munchies when you want fresh, tasty crinkle cut fries. Waaaaay better than Del Taco which is a guilty pleasure. Parking can be an issue at the anti-mall at times, but I've never had a problem. There's also a takeout parking spot(s) if you didn't want to dine in. Either way, totally worth it just for the fries alone. Don't take my word for it. Just go and try it! Highly recommended.

LOADED CHICKEN SANDWICH They have nashville chicken sandwich is PACKED with fried chicken, flavor is not too salty and fried to perfection I got the big o' sandwich combo and it came with crinkled fries and chicken sandwich which, the fries are crunchy and soft pillowy on the inside The inside is spacious, got lots of seating and nice decorated with a big screen to watch games on Service is nice and staffs are helpful and greets you with a welcome! Breds Hot Chicken in Costa Mesa was close by the Camp or the Lab, one of those. I saw this one all over TikTok too with everybody saying oh my gosh this is such great fried chicken, great tenders, great spice and flavors, so I obviously had to go check it out. I ended up grabbing something like a ten or fifteen piece tender order, I honestly don't remember the exact order, but I think I got the medium hot. My memory isn't helping me here. What I do remember is the overall flavor was actually really good, and I liked that they had multiple different sauces. I had the blue cheese, the ranch, the honey, and they also had a different kind of hot honey, I think a garlic one. Those were all really good, but I went back to my old roots and the ranch and blue cheese were absolutely my favorite. The crunch on these, which is exactly what TikTok was hyping up, is supposed to be immaculate, like the best crunch you'd expect from fried chicken. It definitely had that crunch, just not quite at the level I was anticipating. What I also wasn't anticipating was the kick actually built into the rub or the bread itself. Usually when it's hot chicken it leans more like a buffalo sauce situation, but this wasn't that. This was a good spice with a nice sweetness and a little kick right at the end, which I really liked. Overall it was very good and I'd definitely go back. I can see why there's hype because you don't often get solid good fried chicken when you order it, and this place delivered. The price is high though, which I wasn't anticipating, and honestly I don't think it's quite worth that high of a price. I get it, it's hand battered and you're getting multiple sauces which is an added cost, so there's pros and cons. But I can see the hype. I'd recommend it as a good fried chicken spot for sure, just not one I'd want to hit up every single week. Good for what it is though. read more

I was really craving hot chicken, but wanted to check out a new spot! My boyfriend got the Loaded Fries and I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Caesar Salad. I got level medium spice for mine, but it wasn't really spicy. Definitely could've used a little more. The salad was refreshing to pair up with the chicken and I was really debating to just do chicken too! I think I'm not very fond of the slight sweetness there is to the dishes whether that's from the chicken or the sauces. The chicken was pretty dry. Overall, I think I will have to return and just get the chicken on its own to do a better judgment. read more

Had a quick lunch with my daughter here and she picked the spot. I'm glad because food was amazing. Be prepared to wait a little longer than other places but you're getting fresh delicious, crunchy yumminess! Service exceeded my expectation as I was asked numerous times if there was anything else. The service made the place feel a lot more than it is. It's not a fast food restaurant in the sense that food is fresh but you do have to use the self order kiosk. Not too hard to use. Price, well it's not a cheap place but it's not the most expensive. The workers made you feel welcome. Location feels inviting and inside it feels welcoming. Did I mention they sell beer? YAY! Who doesn't want a cold beer with great fried chicken? read more
Ordered the loaded fries and millionaire mac and cheese and it was really filling for two people. You can choose the spice level for chicken, and I think mild was too mild for me this time. Lots of great options for great prices! The service was friendly and there was lots of seating available. I want to come back to this place to try more of the menu! read more

Bred Hot Chicken at The LAB is a go-to for bold flavor and serious comfort food. The chicken is juicy, crispy, and seasoned right. I love that you can choose your spice level--makes it easy to order for both adults and kids. The waffle is next level. Rich, buttery, and full of flavor even before the syrup hits. I usually get the 3-strip combo with waffle, and it's enough to split with one or two people--or power through solo if you're hungry. Online ordering is easy, pickup is quick, and seating is generous--I've always been able to find a spot, even when it's busy. The location's great. The LAB itself is always a fun place to people-watch, explore, and take in the eclectic decorations. The whole setup at Bred just fits--laid-back, a little artsy, and right in line with the vibe of the center. P.S. Kids love the no-spice option. Waffles never miss. read more

Facility was clean, service was great, and the food was fresh. We were served pretty quick on a Saturday afternoon. We were also greeted right away when we came in which always feels welcoming. We had the 2-piece chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, and chicken and waffles. All served with mild spice. It was perfect! The fries were also great. read more

Pulled up on a Saturday afternoon. Place wasn't too busy, walked in and was greeted by an ordering kiosk. I was able to pretty easily place an order for Tenders and Waffles, a Sandwich and Fries, and Tenders with Mac and Cheese. I waited about 20 minutes for the food which did come out hot. Fries were good, tenders spiced medium could have used more flavor and seasoning, but they were decently moist. The waffle was probably my favorite item I ordered, great flavor and texture. I cannot recommend the sandwich. It's two tenders on a piece of bread and is hard to eat. It would be better served as a boneless thigh or a breast. The slaw is a vinegar based slaw but lacked seasoning and overall the sandwich was a let down. The comeback sauce was average and the BBQ sauce was pretty decent. I ordered ranch, but none was provided. If I ever return, I'll be attempting to get more flavor by trying the hot spice level on some tenders. I interacted with an employee for all of 5 seconds, so I don't have much to say about the actual service. read more

I came here because I saw it on tiktok. The claims were that they were better than Howlin Rays. While they aren't better, they sure hold up. I love spicy flavors and the ghost pepper was delicious! The loaded fries were great and of course I got extra comeback sauce. I ordered a medium chicken sandwich, spicy loaded fries, and ghost pepper tenders. I like to try out the variation in spice at chicken places because you never know another place's spice level. The medium was just that. A cayenne medium that tastes good. The fries were amazing and the perfect level of spice. Though the heat built up, it tasted very balanced with the slaw and comeback sauce. The ghost pepper tenders were my favorite. I've never had a place let ghost peppers shine while not spicing out the flavor. It was both spicy and tasty! The service was really slow. That was the biggest downside. Unfortunately the people who ordered in front of me, made a huge order and so I had to wait almost 30 minutes for 3 items. The inside is small and they need to wipe down the tables. I wouldn't mind coming back since it is closer to me than Howlin. I hope the service is faster next time though! If the service was faster, this place would be near perfect. read more
Bred was a lot better than what I was expecting. It's located in The Lab Anti-Mall which is a really cute location. The space inside the restaurant was also clean and the service was fair. For food, I ordered the slider chicks and fries. For spice level, I ordered spicy, which is the second highest. The spice level was perfect. It wasn't too spicy, it was a satisfying burn so it lives up to its description on the menu. The chicken strips they give are big and I loved it. There's a lot of meat and it was also juicy and crunchy. The fries were standard, they lacked seasoning, but I came here for the chicken sandwiches anyway. read more

Amazing amazing amazing!! Bred hot chicken is one of my fave chicken spots! I'm so glad to have discovered it. It's located in the LAB, a very cute outdoor "anti-mall." I didn't really know what to get so I went with the chicken nuggets. Literally the best I've had...like EVER! The white meat is so fresh and tender. You can get different levels of spice, I chose spicy, one level above mild. To drink I ordered an Arnold Palmer, also very tasty and fresh! The wait time is pretty normal, I waited about 18 minutes for my food. The thing I loved the most is the after feeling, you don't feel heavy. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more

I've been wanting to try this chicken sandwich forever, and I finally got the opportunity... let me just say this was by far one of the absolute best, chicken sandwiches that I have ever had. $14 very quick and awesome service nice place honestly it's a pretty decent place to sit and eat and it's not overly loud. The chicken sandwich was not only big. It was meaty. It was as spicy as I wanted it to be which is pretty freaking hot and flavor that came out of this thing was amazing. This place I will absolutely be back to. read more

Very cute little place! They had these self order stands and we were able to quickly place our order. Good thing I opted for something "lighter" because the portions were pretty generous! If you're looking for a quick chicken fix, give this place a shot! The food tasted exactly as we expected! read more

Probably the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. I had the Big O' Sandwich with Ghost Pepper Burn, Seasoned Crinkle-Cut Fries and a soda. My coworker had the Big O' Sandwich with Spicy Satisfying Burn, Seasoned Crinkle-Cut Fries and a soda. It was almost too much sandwich to finish but didn't want to waste one bite. The people behind the counter were very nice and helpful. You could tell they were very proud to put out such a good product. When I am in the area, I will be back. Feel the burn. read more
