Who loves cheesesteak!? How cool is to walk into the shop with the automatic sliding door. Love it! Both the staff and the management were super friendly. Great service. Clean and nice ambiance. They have both seating inside and outside. Ordered Chicken Philly, root beer drink and sweet krimpet. Food was delicious.

Always drive by this place on my way to the 73, and I finally decided to grab a bite. I was not in the mood for a cheesesteak so I went for the Italian. It was full of spice and flavor. Good size and good taste. This a good spot for a sandwich. I will come back and try the cheesesteak next time.

Super good sandwiches and fries! Not a lot of seating and parking so be mindful! They were quick and friendly. Food was super hot and yummy!

The cheese steaks whether you get regular or chicken one or very good just a little high in my book full size is 15 dollars and a lot of times you got to wait quite a bit to get it

My tuna hoagie put me in a food coma for a few days! It was packed with tuna, the perfect cheese, and great bread. The Cheesesteak is the reason I came. Their service guided me to tasty options. Inside the restaurant is all Philly!

I'm no expert in Philly cheese steak sandwiches but there is another Philly sandwich spot near by that in my opinion, From Philly's sandwich takes the crown. I love all the cheese, the bell peppers and mushrooms inside, it was soo juicy, and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is clean and well maintained and the service was good. Love love love

Saw it from the street so had to stop in. Nice staff and a great cheese steak. Ill be stopping in again to try other sandwiches

I decided to try this place out after seeing it on Grubhub and I'm glad I gave it a shot! I ordered the Philly cheesesteak fries and the old world Italian sandwich. When I went to pick it up, I was greeted by friendly staff who gave me my order quickly. The food was fantastic! The Philly cheesesteak was so flavorful on the fries and the sandwich was great. I think next time I would try a Philly cheesesteak sandwich but the old world Italian was tasty. The fries were the real star. The portion was huge and I'm definitely looking forward to trying their other items.

It is awesome that Costa Mesa is home to 2 OUTSTANDING Philly Cheesesteak shops...and they easily rival some of the best Philly Cheesesteak shops in Philly. I spent years going to college in Philly, and ate way too many Philly cheesesteaks, and I can attest that King's From Philly is a solid Top 10, right next to Frank's. I still have to give the slight edge to Frank's admittedly though...which has a slightly better bread with a tiny crisp to it hiding a chewy center, and their flavor of the Frank's Choice sandwich is still easily one of the best ever. But when it comes to overall sandwich selections, Philly cheesesteak fries and options, From Philly has the edge on top above Frank's. Here is what I think is outstanding at this place: -- Philly Chicken Cheesesteak is EASILY THE BEST CHICKEN CHEESESTEAK I've ever had...and i've literally eaten dozens of Chicken Cheesesteaks all over Philly!! Somehow, the Chicken Cheesesteak is very moist and packed with flavor that is very rare to find in Philly. Outstanding sandwich!! 10/10! -- Regular Cheesesteaks are very good, but a tad pricey compared to Frank's for the size of the sandwich. I'd' give this place a 9/10. (By comparison, Frank's is a 10/10, Delco in Philly is a 10/10.) -- Philly Cheesesteak Fries are ridiculously awesome here! Very Gooey with a full load of cheesesteak toppings, and the fries were a tad crispy with some seasoning like Lowry's. 10/10! -- BIG THANKS for offering cheap salads that are large portions. Thank you! 10/10

In plain site, this place can not be missed. I mean the food, the location, the service, and the manager. It has seating inside and outside to relax. The cold subs are just as good as the PhillySteak sandwiches. The cold sub was the Old World Italian. The Full is ginormous filled with layers upon layers. You just need to experience it! The hot sub was the Traditional Philly Cheesesteak ..... LOADED! The Full is exactly how you will feel (actually beyond full) after finishing this delectable, FANtastic, and gigantic sub. Hands down, one of the best, if not the best, locally in OC. Highly recommend trying either of them and judge for yourself. If you're a vegetarian or vegan eater, salads are an option, but this place is mainly meat protein, sorry! Happy Cheeeeessssseeeesteak and Fight On!

Ask the Community - From Philly

Previous versions of the menu listed mayo on their #1 cheesesteak (w/onions, peppers, mushrooms), later versions don't list mayo but I thought I tasted a light amount today, do they still put mayo?

    No I don’t believe so!

This might be a wierd question to ask. But do they offer cheese wiz as a option for their cheesesteaks?

Yeah no wiz but I'd certainly ask. It's always sad to see a cheesesteak place without it =(

I was deciding on where to snag lunch on my way to another store doing my rounds and I really wanted a sandwich. I decided to get the Turkado, some dirty Maui chips and drink. The total came to $17 and some change, not bad about the avg for the area and any lunch. The service was great, the woman who helped me was nice, and efficient, she helped me select what chips to get. Not much bantering but I do enough of that at work, so all good here. The store was clean, nice vibe, music. My order was ready in the time it took me to fill my soda cup and sit down to scroll 1 scroll thru outlook emails. Maybe 5-7 mins the woman who gave me my order asked if I wanted some secret sauce on the side, and put it in the bag. The bag felt heavy! The sub was huge! Probably 8inches bread was nice and springy, there was enough lettuce, tomato and sauces on it. I love the sunflower seeds, gives it a nice little crunch. The meat is more of a very thin piled high but there is a lot of it! I like how the sub is assembled meat, cheese, toppings sauce, it seems to hold together nicely.

This review covers my experience across multiple locations, including Harbor Boulevard in Costa…read moreMesa and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. When I first started coming to Board and Brew, I would have given it a solid five stars, but my perspective has shifted after six years of exploring other local options in the county. The Evolution of the Experience: * Ingredients: While the food is definitely better than a pre-made deli sandwich from a grocery store, it isn't exactly top-tier. The bread and meat are good, but as you try more specialized places, you realize these are fairly standard. * The Famous Sauce: Their signature sauce is tasty, but it feels like it contains a high amount of monosodium glutamate (MSG). MSG is a neuro-exciter that can make people feel overstimulated or unwell after eating it, and it feels particularly intense in this recipe. * Consistency: Both the Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa locations were great initially, but they now feel more like a solid, middle-of-the-road option. The Best Use Case: * Catering & Events: Even with a three-star rating, this is absolutely the place I would go if I needed catering for a birthday party or a large event. Their pricing and preparation for bulk orders are hard to beat. Final Thoughts: If Yelp allowed half-stars, I'd probably give this a 3.5. It's a reliable, solid sandwich shop, but the ingredient quality and the intensity of the MSG in the sauce keep it from being a five-star favorite for me anymore. Edit: The owner replied to my comment about how their food is high quality, but 6 years of taste testing says otherwise. While you may not add pure MSG crystals to your sauce, it still contains MSG.It is misleading to claim "No MSG" or "High Quality" when the sauce relies on ingredients that are chemically identical to it. For instance: Tomatoes and Tomato Paste: These are among the highest natural sources of free glutamate. If the recipe uses tomato paste--as many copycats do--it will test positive for MSG. Soy Sauce & Worcestershire Sauce: Both frequently cited in recipes for this sauce, these contain naturally occurring MSG through fermentation or hydrolysis. Nutritional Yeast: Often used to provide a savory flavor, it naturally contains high levels of glutamate.Hydrolyzed Proteins: Ingredients like "hydrolyzed vegetable protein" (HVP) or "yeast extract" are processed specifically to release glutamates. Legally, a company might say they "don't use MSG" if they don't add the pure additive, but that is a technicality. MSG is linked to various health issues for sensitive individuals, and just because many consider it "safe" doesn't mean it's healthy or non-harmful. If the food is truly "high quality," why rely on these additives to create flavor? Best Wishes
