Phillys best cheesesteak with onions mushrooms and peppers, provolone and wiz
    Jennifer M.

Delicious cheesesteaks and fresh soft bread shipped from Philadelphia, made with wiz.. we ordered from here after craving cheesesteaks and wanted to try a different place than we have prior. Ordered pickup, had a nice conversation with Josh, and got home to find one sandwich was made incorrectly. Called and they would replace it. Got back and picked up order and to our surprise- some tasty cake treats, extra sauces and a gift card to make up for the incorrect order. We called back to gratefully thank him for his kindness and the great sandwich and snacks. It's so nice to find a place that makes sandwiches that you're craving so good and treats you well after a mistake. I recommend phillys best- coming from NJ to Cali - you miss items from the east coast and this definitely brought me home. Thank you Josh we will definitely be back

Please don't come here. Philly cheesesteak was ground beef with veggies, flavor wasn't even all that. And the turkey sandwich is honestly one of the most driest sandwiches I have ever had. Even adding mustard or mayo didn't help. $30 down the drain.

They should rename this place Philly's Meh. I used to come here for a satisfying phillys cheesesteak. Had been a fan for decades. But something's been off with this particular location. Not sure if the other franchisees are the same, but ever since Covid they've gone down hill. First of all, even before the recent inflation they kept raising the price of their sandwiches, I get it, costs goes up but dang higher prices and shrinkflation? We started coming here less. However this past visit, was the worst one and the last time I'll ever come here. Hard to redeem after this experience. To start: 1) Cheesesteak - barely any cheese. As you can see in the pic, it seems like they're using half the cheese they normally did or used to. 2) Dry meat - I know freezer burned beef when I taste it. And maybe cause velocity has decreased due to poor value or something, I guess they're trying to save every buck they can. 3) Onion Rings - what seemed like a smaller portion than before wasn't really the issue, huge cakey batter and over cooked. Like the onion was mushy. Eww. Taste was ok though. The only two reasons why it's not 1 star review is that the workers were nice and the pickled peppers and kosher pickles were still as good as before. Just wished they didn't charge almost $5 for a soda fountain drink cause I decided that was a ripoff and couldn't wash down my dry, semi cheesy steak down. End of an era. There's a Phillys Best in Lake Forest, the first I've been to long ago... going to try that place and hope it's still good.

A legit Philly Cheesesteak is a beautiful thing, and you can get one at this place, no cap. The drill is you order and pay at the counter, and they let you know when your order is ready. The steaks are cooked to order the traditional way and placed in an Amoroso roll, which is the only way. I'm going to patronize this place more in the hope it sticks around. Irvine has more than its share of noodle shops and hot pot shops.

Food - Philly cheesesteak, hoagies, burgers, fries, onion rings and salads. I usually order the classic or Philly's best cheesesteak but i love their Philly's best burgers believe it or not. I find this type of burger to be unique amongst the other burgers because of the Philly style. I so wanted to share my burger except I ate it all before I could even take a picture! Service - none other than order at the counter. Clean up after yourself. Ambiance - really feels like your local burger joint or even a slight Philly vibe I guess. Verdict - really a no brainer. If you are feeling some Philly in Cali, then this is a decent place to go to

I would've taken a better photo but I couldn't wait to dive in!

INCREDIBLE! Seriously, could not be any better! The Amoroso rolls make the cheesesteak! I'm from the east coast and this is the ONLY place I can get a cheesesteak that tastes like home. I also only go to this specific location. So good! I really feel like I'm back in Philly when I'm here!

My awesome ham & cheese hoagie!

Again I walked into Philly's Best in Irvine craving a cheese steak. But once again, I walked out with an amazing ham & cheese hoagie - chock full of thinly sliced Boars Head ham, piled high on top of my favorite veggies (as fresh as can be). If you're looking for a healthier alternative to a burger (or even one of the most delicious cheese steaks this side of the Rockies), drop on by. Their service is great. Friendly and quick. The seating area is comfortable and very clean. (Parking can be a challenge around lunch, so be prepared.)

More like ground hamburger than steak. Tasteless, nasty, overpriced. What's to like? Seriously can't believe people eat this crap.

Ask the Community - Philly's Best

Is this the same as Philly Cheesesteaks?

If you are asking about a place called Philly Cheesesteaks, no. If you are asking if they are authentic Philly Cheesesteaks, yes. Only place my family, from Philly, will eat a cheesesteak outside of Philly.

    How are the salads?

Never had a salad there but the sandwiches are to die for.

It's got a real dive bar vibe going, right down to the regulars at the bar, as well as a small outside seating area, and a British themed side room. The guy working the register was very friendly and we had a nice conversation about Jersey food while I ordered. If you're from Jersey, the menu here skews south Jersey, but I'm hoping they eventually add north Jersey disco fries to the menu. I had an Italian sub and it was packed full of meat. Really good! Happy to support a little slice of Jersey here in CA.

Then I didn't listen to him, as I watched an Italian sub and Philly cheese steak sandwich go by! Instead I ordered a Cuban sandwich. The crab bay seasoned fries were hot crispy and delicious! They should just take the Cuban sandwich off the menu. Not enough garlicky pork, ham, Swiss cheese, etc. Everything else they served - looked and smelled amazing!!! I'll come back and get a Reuben sandwich or Italian sub!!! Btw $1.50 for a side of ranch, even after you order a sandwich & fries I'll still Give this place another chance! But the Cuban sandwich gotta go I recommend you come in and do the same!
