Loved this spot since it opened in South Coast Plaza. Not sure if I caught them on a bad day but seems like they've watered down some of their menu items. The Meddock Melee sandwich used to come on this great artisan squaw bread that resembled a square ciabatta bread. It had great bite and crispy corners that added texture. Now it comes on a much flimsier roll similar to the 'Cheesecake Factory' brown bread they sell in the grocery aisle. Sliced turkey also feels like a lower quality cut. It used to have texture and now it tastes like thin sliced /water infused prepackaged grocery turkey. Rosemary fries used to be slightly thicker, super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Now they're a lower quality shoe string fry that's on the dry side. Maybe they're between suppliers? But if these are cost cutting measures, the difference is very much palpable. read more

We were at the mall yesterday so stopped by Sessions West Coast Deli for a quick bite. I got my favorite dish: Thai chicken salad. They changed the recipe a bit and do the roast chicken now instead of grilled chicken for the salad. It was still good. I like it that Sessions use the nice and better mixed greens instead of just the plain lettuce. Hubby had the burger and he liked it. Ordered takeout so cannot comment on service or ambience. This was my first time trying Sessions and I enjoyed my sandwich. The Greatfella ($15) was extremely good and packed with ham with a juicy vinaigrette. I also got the seasonal Nana's chicken noodle ($6) -- the presentation alone makes it worth it. Reviews didn't disappoint! Had a lovely Mother's Day lunch outside with great food and service. My husband and I shared the Perfect Burger, rosemary fries and the wedge legend salad. The burger was delicious as were the fries. This restaurant offers a variety of signature sauces to fit with the different food selections. My daughter and her husband had the Greatfella, which as also super tasty and the bread was perfectly toasted. The service was also EXCELLENT. Pretty convenient location. Similar in menu to other locales but maybe a bit cooler a vibe rather than an afternoon sandwich shop. Enjoyed their tuna melt, which is seemingly a staple at any of the branches you go to but maybe not quite as toasty or flavorful as the other locales. Also grabbed the flatbread special which was a lot of empty flatbread and not the most interesting combination of flavors, so wouldn't have gotten that again. Pulled up around 8:15 p.m. (they close at 9) and had to ask if they were even open no one greeted us, and the place was completely dead, which should've been my first red flag. Eventually, someone took our order at the counter. I got the Single Single (quarter-pound patty with American cheese, caramelized onions, dill pickle on a potato bun), a large fries, and a beer beach snack. My wife ordered a tuna melt and a beer. The total came to just over $50, mostly because they automatically suggest a 20% tip which feels ridiculous when you're ordering at a counter and your food comes in to-go containers you have to throw out yourself. That's not table service. As for the food... the burger was disappointing. Tasted like they dumped too much garlic powder on it. I was expecting a simple, classic American burger, but it just wasn't good. They come off like a wannabe Shake Shack, but without the flavor or quality. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because they had the Dodger game on. For $50, I expected a much better meal. Next time, I'll stick with In-N-Out, The Habit, or Islands they do burgers right IMO. read more

This place is pretty disappointing and not worth it, I work nearby and have come here on separate occasions to try different menu items, and was not pleased each time. Bun was stale, patty EXTREMELY overcooked, and the cheese was simply what seemed like a slice of cheese from a package, on top of the patty, barely melted. You are better of going to in in out, where you get much better value and quality. On other occasions I got one of the sandwiches, which was pretty decent, but nothing to write home about. You are much better off going to board and brew, which crushes the sandwiches here and is right down the road in Costa mesa. This deli is so good! I personally really love their trio combo. It comes with a soup, salad and a sandwich of your choice. For about $18 bucks or so.. If you'd like, you can switch out your salad for some rosemary chips or upgrade for $0.60 to French fries! And let me tell you. The CRISP of those fries! The soup has croutons and cheese on top. Delicious. This is a good place for lunch time. The employees have been friendly all 3 times I have been there. They have outside and inside seating. If you keep walking inside the deli, you can see they have a lot more indoor seating. And since it's winter, that's perfect. They don't have hot drinks. I love a great sandwich. This place has some great sandwiches. I get the Big Tuna Melt, it is delicious and has a very healthy serving of tuna. I can never finish the whole sandwich. This last visit Spencer got The Meddock Melee, also a huge, delicious sandwich. Cooper had the Morning Zephyr breakfast sandwich, very tasty but not a huge sandwich like the others. Make sure to get the fries with rosemary, so good that you don't need ketchup. The service is fantastic. You order at the counter first and they give you a number for the table. It didn't look crowded and we liked the outdoor patio seating available. I grabbed a table outside and my husband ordered our sandwiches and beers. Our beers came out first but it took AT LEAST 30 minutes to get our food delivered to our table. I devoured my meatball sandwich but wish it also came with a side of fries or chips. Pretty pricey for what you get for 2 beers and 2 sandwiches for about ~$60. We clean up after ourselves where there's a bin next to the trash for plates and trays. We probably won't come back.
