Sugo! You are a fun, no-frills pizza joint (that specializes in Roman pizza), with some of the best service in the area. Yes, the shop is small, but as soon and my girlies and I walked inside, we immediately were welcomed and given the ~shpiel~ of what to expect for a typical dine-in experience. I'm pretty sure we talked to the manager yesterday--very knowledgable and made us feel less intimidated with decision paralysis. There were tons of yummy options on display (...I'm looking at you, Chorizo pizza). For yesterday's visit, I got the Contadina which has Italian sausage in it (and a bunch of other ingredients that I forgot lol) and the Rosa pizza. I'm a huge fan of vodka sauce in pasta and the Rosa surely won my heart at first bite. One of my friends ordered the Japanese pizza, which also looked delicious. Will I be back? Wow! I honestly wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. This was my first time trying Sugo, and it ended up being one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I ordered the Killer Bee pizza, and after one bite I understood why it's one of their best sellers. It comes with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, natural pepperoni, fresh basil, and a drizzle of spicy honey. I wasn't sure how the spicy honey would taste on a pizza, but it gave every bite a little sweetness with just a touch of heat. It was a combination that really surprised me. The crust had a nice crunch on the outside while staying soft inside. The pepperoni had a great flavor, the cheese was excellent, and the sauce tasted fresh. Everything tasted fresh from the first bite to the last. This pizza definitely earned a spot near the top of my list. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other pizzas. read more

EDIT: Sandro, the owner reached out to me and made me aware that they improved a lot of our processes since I ate here, especially with their online orders. They have gone through a dough upgrade so that the pizzas can travel better. Unfortunately I live out of state and cannot give them another try, but keep this in mind when you see my review. REVIEW: My review is specially for a Togo order. We placed it for a specific time, picked it up a couple minutes past the "it's ready" message, and drove it 6 minutes back to our hotel. By the time we opened up the box, the pizza looked phenomenal, but was cold and tasteless. I was extremely disappointed because the reviews for this location are great, and the pizza was overpriced. I ordered the Queso Fundido and the Japanese pizza -- both were incredibly unique and packed with flavor. The crust was crispy, light, and perfectly done. The Japanese pizza was surprisingly delicious; the combination of mozzarella, sautéed mushrooms, porchetta, kewpie miso sauce, and bonito flakes worked really well together. Every bite had a great balance of savory and umami flavors. I've heard of this place, never had it. The other day, my boss ordered Sugo for a company meeting. Personally, I got the Killer Bee slice and the standard pepperoni. I'm not normally a big crust guy, and I was a little worried about have crust edges on all of my pizza, but dang, the crust was perfectly crunchy and delicious. The pepperoni was so good. Thick little slices that cup up when they're cooked. Edges crispy. Nice. The Killer Bee slice might be one of my new favorite things, like, I'd order it again soon. They cut each slice in half, which makes it perfect for sharing! We got four slices to share between two people, which was more than enough. My fave was the Japanese slice with porchetta, shiitake mushrooms, bonito flakes and miso kewpie mayo drizzle. The Killer Bee is another winner, with pepperoni, hot honey and Gorgonzola. You order your slices and then they warm it for you which took around 10 minutes. My sister and I ordered 2 different slices to share; the worker was kind and he split the slices for us too. We got one margherita slice and one Santa baby slice. The dough was crispy but not tough. We loved that it came out fresh and hot too. The tomato sauce was great, well balanced in its sweet, tangy and savory flavors. The mozzarella was mild and not too much. We just wished they put more basil. It was a great classic overall. The Santa baby is a limited time flavor but we liked it so much and wish they'd keep it on the menu! It was topped with a pistachio pesto, mushrooms and truffle oil. The truffle oil wasn't over the top, they put a good amount of mushrooms, and the pesto was pretty good (just a little too lemon-y). All of its flavors worked together so well! Slices are all at least $8 which is a little pricey. But if I happen to be craving pizza in the area, I'd be down to check it out again and maybe try something new! read more

Hubbie and I came last night for early dinner. We came around 5, and luckily beat the long line. We ordered their carnivore, killer bee, Rosa slice, and Pera e Gorgonzola slice. Each so unique in their flavors, and each cooked so perfectly. The crust makes their pizza exceptionally delicious, and the ingredients all mix to form the perfect pizza. My favorite (though all SO good) would have to be Killer Bee. We also got to meet Chef Sandro! He was so kind, friendly and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised that he took his time to chat with us, and we even got to take a picture (thank you Chef Sandro!) At the end, they gave us a little gift. Parking: the plaza had plenty of parking when I stopped by at around 12:30 pm on a Monday! I could see parking be tough on a weekend since there's mainly two rows of parking and there are a few different establishments in the strip mall. The plaza is tucked away in a more discrete location right next to mitsuwa market. Service: the cashier taking my order was very kind. He was also very friendly and helped me to pick between carnivora and contadina so that was super helpful! Ambiance: the store was smaller and definitely more cozy. It was nicely decorated. There was some indoor seating (high top) and limited outdoor seating. Probably not a good spot for huge groups, but great for smaller groups. It's a casual dining spot. You order, pay, and then receive your food. There were some people who dined there and some people who placed take out orders. Food: all of the pizza slices are prepared with generous amounts of toppings. After you order, they bake it. So each pizza slice is baked fresh to order and takes around 7 minutes. Contadina slice (10/10)- the pizza slice was soo yummy, freshly baked out of the oven. The crust was perfection, thin and crispy without being too hard or too crispy. The crust stayed crispy as I ate the pizza. I loved the sautéed onions on this slice, it was the perfect touch. I love how they offer such a large variety of pizza slices with so many different toppings. Most importantly, the slices taste soo fresh. I love a good cheese pull from the slice. The Chorizo Pastor (mexican spicy sausage, purple onion, pineapple, fresh jalapeno, jalapeno cream sauce and micro cilantro) slice was definitely the most unique one of them all. It was one of the most flavorful pizzas! AND IT HAD SO MANY TOPPINGS. AND IT'S SPICYYY. Love the burn. It tasted like a taco on a pizza. I think it is definitely fun to try at least once and I can see myself ordering it again here and there. But if I'm craving pizza, I don't know if I would order this as it doesn't hit the spot as pizza because of the flavors. Kinda comes off as a pizza/sandwich/taco hybrid.
