Delicious Roman-style pizza spot. Super casual, welcoming staff. Lots of different options offered in rectangular personal slices so you can try them all. We got the killer bee, a pepperoni bomb, and the summer special. All great. They add the finishing touches like sauces and garnishes after they warm it up for you. Small spot, limited seated. Saw a lot of go to orders.
LOCATION: Paularino/Bristol PARKING: Very small lot. Can park in Mitsuwa lot behind the building. WHAT WE ORDERED: * BYO box ($35): 5 slices of your choice * We chose Chorizo Pastor, Contadina, Japanese, Killer B, Margherita (my favorites are in that order) Super tasty pizza! It was busy when I arrived on a Friday night, but the food came out surprisingly fast. Individual slices range from $6-$9, and with so many fun combinations to choose from, I decided to try the BYO box. It comes with three of their signature sauces: hot honey, ranch, and chili oil. I haven't been able to find much delicious artisan pizza in OC, so I'm really glad I found Sugo. I love the variety of ethnic-inspired flavor combinations they offer. And this isn't your traditional triangular pizza slice. They serve up large, loaded rectangular pieces. If you like spicy pizza, I highly recommend the Chorizo. Dipping it in the hot honey was chef's kiss. The sweet heat from the honey paired so well with the spice and richness of the chorizo. The Margherita was also solid. It's hard to mess up a classic. The dough was the perfect thickness. Not too thick and I didn't get tired of eating it lol. I've been looking for more interesting pizza in OC, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon Sugo. I love that they're playing around with different cultural flavors instead of sticking to the usual pizza combinations. Definitely worth checking out if you're a pizza lover who likes trying something a little different.
First time at this spot that I've had bookmarked forever. It was worth the wait. The pizza is hot, flavorful, and really tasty. The slices are really large and generous. There are so many choices of toppings, it's not easy to choose. Overall, awesome spot for tasty slices.
Scrolling through IG made me have to check this place out! Roman pizza?! I'm not sure what that is but ok, Il try it cuz it looks absolutely delicious when I see others taking a bite. We finally made our way there and at first glance, I was not impressed because it reminded me of a cookie or doughnut spot where it had all of them out for you to choose. I reserved that thought and put it aside to wait and let my taste buds decide and I am so glad I did! Crispy bottom, soft pillowy inside with a nice chew all together. I loved all the different pairings but my most favorite was the Margherita pizza and pepperoni pizza. We tried the one with Hot Honey and although I love hot honey on my pizza, I felt this style would be best enjoyed simple style! Come try this place! It's a definite win if you do.

We got the mix and match combo that was any different 5 slices for $39 and it comes with their 3 sauces (I believe ranch, hot honey, and chili oil). Our choices were the margherita, Japanese, contadina, yo mama and chorizo. The Japanese was our favorite. I was a little skeptical at first but the flavors were really good. My other favorite was the yo mama, you could really taste the lime. I think their ranch has a hint of lime too which went well with it. I also liked how they cut each slice in two as we were sharing it. The employee was nice enough and she interacted a lot more with the people who came after us, who I assume are regulars. The pizza did look a little older in the display but when it was warmed up it tasted fine. There were a couple new flavors that didn't have labels to show what they were. Would try this place again if we were in the mood for pizza and in the area.
Ugh so worth the hype... I was trying to be good and get one slice but I should have gotten two! I got the Margherita pizza and omg it was so good! The crust was amazing and the slices are huge. Cute little shop tucked in a little plaza with limited parking. Service was great...I'll def be back soon!
Sugo! You are a fun, no-frills pizza joint (that specializes in Roman pizza), with some of the best service in the area. Yes, the shop is small, but as soon and my girlies and I walked inside, we immediately were welcomed and given the ~shpiel~ of what to expect for a typical dine-in experience. I'm pretty sure we talked to the manager yesterday--very knowledgable and made us feel less intimidated with decision paralysis. There were tons of yummy options on display (...I'm looking at you, Chorizo pizza). For yesterday's visit, I got the Contadina which has Italian sausage in it (and a bunch of other ingredients that I forgot lol) and the Rosa pizza. I'm a huge fan of vodka sauce in pasta and the Rosa surely won my heart at first bite. One of my friends ordered the Japanese pizza, which also looked delicious. Will I be back? Definitely, just probably not as much since it's bit of a drive from where I'm at. Another pizza/piece of my heart is now with the Sugo shop. :-)
Sugo Pizza was so good! The pizza was fresh, flavorful, and had the perfect crust. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and every slice was delicious. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and I'll definitely be coming back. Easily one of my favorite pizza spots I've tried recently!
EDIT: Sandro, the owner reached out to me and made me aware that they improved a lot of our processes since I ate here, especially with their online orders. They have gone through a dough upgrade so that the pizzas can travel better. Unfortunately I live out of state and cannot give them another try, but keep this in mind when you see my review. REVIEW: My review is specially for a Togo order. We placed it for a specific time, picked it up a couple minutes past the "it's ready" message, and drove it 6 minutes back to our hotel. By the time we opened up the box, the pizza looked phenomenal, but was cold and tasteless. I was extremely disappointed because the reviews for this location are great, and the pizza was overpriced. I would not recommend ordering Togo, or eating here in general.

The inside was kind of small and definitely people just wait to take their order to go. I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, and I finally stopped by to pick up a couple of pizzas. The place is small with just a few seats along the wall. I ordered the Queso Fundido and the Japanese pizza -- both were incredibly unique and packed with flavor. The crust was crispy, light, and perfectly done. The Japanese pizza was surprisingly delicious; the combination of mozzarella, sautéed mushrooms, porchetta, kewpie miso sauce, and bonito flakes worked really well together. Every bite had a great balance of savory and umami flavors. The Queso Fundido was also excellent, topped with mozzarella, Mexican spicy sausage, oven-roasted potatoes, charred poblano peppers, and tomatillo sauce. It was flavorful and well-executed. Overall, both pizzas were creative, memorable, and absolutely worth trying. read more

I'm not a big pizza person, but this place is pretty good! I love how they have their own unique toppings and mix to their pizzas. The service here is amazing and the interior is so clean and aesthetically pleasing :3 ! Wow! I honestly wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. This was my first time trying Sugo, and it ended up being one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I ordered the Killer Bee pizza, and after one bite I understood why it's one of their best sellers. It comes with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, natural pepperoni, fresh basil, and a drizzle of spicy honey. I wasn't sure how the spicy honey would taste on a pizza, but it gave every bite a little sweetness with just a touch of heat. It was a combination that really surprised me. The crust had a nice crunch on the outside while staying soft inside. The pepperoni had a great flavor, the cheese was excellent, and the sauce tasted fresh. Everything tasted fresh from the first bite to the last. This pizza definitely earned a spot near the top of my list. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other pizzas. read more

Pizza is always delish!!! Very friendly service. I use toast app for easy pick up! Rotating options are always fun to try.. the vegetarian ones look good too. It's a small spot with a few express tables if you need to eat immediately. I always do take away and eat it like a hour or so later and throw in the oven to reheat. read more

This place exceeded my expectations with their pizza! So many different options and seasonal flavors to choose from!! We got the summer slice and the meat lovers, both were exceptional. Pizza had a good undercarriage, and toppings were flavorful and on point! Super friendly service as well, will come again to try other flavors! read more

Pizza is always fresh and creative combinations . We always come here and it's local and easy to come too . They have seasonal ones too so make sure you follow their social media to get updates. They have a Nutella one sometimes that is delicious! read more
Finally tried Sugo on their two-year anniversary. Loved the creative flavors of their Roman-style pizza! Slices range from $6.60-$8.50, with specials at $9. They cut each slice in half, which makes it perfect for sharing! We got four slices to share between two people, which was more than enough. My fave was the Japanese slice with porchetta, shiitake mushrooms, bonito flakes and miso kewpie mayo drizzle. The Killer Bee is another winner, with pepperoni, hot honey and Gorgonzola. While I like the Chorizo Al Pastor, it was a little on the spicy side for me (great if you like it hot). The Margherita was a little boring by comparison. Looking forward to seeing what other interesting flavors they develop! Limited seating indoors and outdoors. You can also order online (which is what I did). read more

Excellent fun pizza squares that captured imaginative flavor combinations with a delicious crispy crust. Food/Drink- 5 stars The pizza was excellent and we enjoyed every bite. I appreciated that they plated it in the order that it was best enjoyed -Japanese- this was good, but probably my least favorite slice. The kewpie mayo overwhelmed the other flavors, but luckily kewpie mayo is always good -Calebrese- this was my favorite slice. So balanced and flavorful -Chorizo Pastor- this was the most fun slice. A bit on the spicier and heavier side -Pera E Gorgonzola- thoroughly enjoyed this as the recommended last (dessert) pizza slice Service- 5 stars Service was fast and helpful. It's out of their control, but their doorway is on top of the sewer line, so a bit of a stink when you walk in. Bottom Line Incredible and fun pizza. I'll definitely be coming back read more

My boyfriend and i were planning to bring it to hotel, but we ended up having a bite in the parking lot, and, needless to say, it didn't make it to the hotel That crust is amazing!!!!! The first bite gives you the perfect satisfying crunch with a light bread and the perfect amount of toppings. It's great that you can order pizza by slice as well. Easily the best pizza in Orange County. This is more of a take-out than dine-in place, so sweatpants-it-up accordingly when getting your food. For my plant-based peeps, don't despair: there *is* a way to potentially veganize your order. My current obsession here is a fully veganized pie crowned with arugula, wild mushrooms, and roasted garlic -- a composition that feels both refined and indulgent. Sugo consistently executes thoughtful vegan adaptations (simply inquire), and the results justify the request every time. Heard about this place on Instagram and Sugo did not disappoint. Delicious Roman-style pizza slices! They have a ton of choices in their display case. When you choose them and order, they cook them fully and they come up piping hot! The crust is nice and airy and chewy and crispy on the edges. If you haven't had Roman style (think pinsa style crust) then it's worth trying out here. The slices are big and cut in half, with hearty toppings. I ordered two slices and it was perfect to share with my partner. This place seems always busy but they tie around the orders fast. There are a few small tables inside, appropriate for a quick bite. Appreciate that they're open late, and there is parking right in front. Really convenient. read more
My friend and I came here on a Tuesday around 5 PM and there was only one group in front of us. The service was relatively fast and he was super friendly!! I got the Hawaiian and Rosa pizzas and they were super delicious. To be honest, I'm not a harsh pizza critic so good pizza is good pizza lol but the crust was so light with the perfect crisp and chew. The pizza here is definitely on the pricey side, but it's also unique and so delicious. I have a small stomach, and two slices are more than enough for a full meal... honestly a little too filling, but it's so good you'll want to finish it anyway. Ordering online for pickup is easy, and the pizza slices are always warm and toasty. I've tried a few different slices, and my favorite by far is the Rosa (vodka sauce, purple onions, fresh basil, parmigiano). I've always been someone who loves lots of toppings on pizza, so it actually surprised me how much I love such a simple slice. That just speaks to how good the ingredients are (nothing extra is needed to mask the high quality ingredients of the dough and sauce). I realize the Rosa is a limited time slice (nooo!!) but I'm hoping they keep it around. The crust is unlike any pizza crust I've had before. It's not too thin, but it's chewy and flaky at the same time. I'm usually not a crust person and tend to not finish it, but this crust is so good I'll eat it even without sauce. Overall, it's definitely a splurge, but I'll happily come back once in a while when I'm in the mood for an expensive treat. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a bit now and fortunately, had the opportunity to try it! On a Tuesday around 2, it had a steady line. They only have certain ones available and I'm assuming you'd have to wait if the one you want is currently out. For example, we wanted to try the Rosa but it was currently out. You order your slices and then they warm it for you which took around 10 minutes. My sister and I ordered 2 different slices to share; the worker was kind and he split the slices for us too. We got one margherita slice and one Santa baby slice. The dough was crispy but not tough. We loved that it came out fresh and hot too. The tomato sauce was great, well balanced in its sweet, tangy and savory flavors. The mozzarella was mild and not too much. We just wished they put more basil. It was a great classic overall. The Santa baby is a limited time flavor but we liked it so much and wish they'd keep it on the menu! It was topped with a pistachio pesto, mushrooms and truffle oil. The truffle oil wasn't over the top, they put a good amount of mushrooms, and the pesto was pretty good (just a little too lemon-y). All of its flavors worked together so well! Slices are all at least $8 which is a little pricey. But if I happen to be craving pizza in the area, I'd be down to check it out again and maybe try something new! read more

In Costa Mesa for a conference and this pizza place was right around the corner. Walked in, placed my order and patiently waited for my pizza. The pizza was finished in a little oven and came out hot. Honey on pizza is interesting, hot honey was chef's kiss! Great vibe, great pizza, definitely be back if I'm ever in Costa Mesa again. read more

Earlier this month, I posted a 5 star review of me trying out Sugo for the first time and loving it, but mentioned that it was a bit of a wait on a Friday but the wait was totally understandable due to the dinner rush and it was truly worth the wait! Sandro, the owner, reached out to me in my messages and offered two free slices. We came back to try their limited edition Baby Boy and Yo Mama slices and got an additional Chorizo Al Pastor slice since that was our favorite last time. All of the slices were fresh and delicious! Is there indoor seating?
Yes there is seating indoors but it's more spacious outside, especially when it's busy since most people wait indoors
Can you order a panini without any meat?
I'm not sure if they (still?) offer panini at Sugo, but they have panini at Bello!
How many slices and how many inches are your XL pizzas? I have no idea how many pizzas to order for my party without knowing the size. No one is answering during business hours
It looks like the XL pizzas are actually six (6) individual slices in one big box. Hope this helps!
Do you have a gluten free crust option?

According to what Sugo says on social media, they don't offer explicitly gluten-free dough but the exceptional quality of their flour from Italy means people who are just sensitive to gluten have been able to enjoy their pizzas with no adverse…
