So glad I finally got to try Rye Goods. This place is adorable. Nice patio as well some indoor seating. Has a great little market section of coffees, condiments, seasonings and whole lot more. Nice selection of grab n go ready items as well so if you're in a rush they've got you covered. Parking I can see being rough on the weekends but it's not their fault. They do offer valet which is a nice way to solve the problem. I tried the caramelized date latte. It was amazing & perfectly balanced not too sweet for being a flavored latte. For food I ordered the Rye scramble. The eggs were wonderfully soft scrambled served in top of a baguette so it was like a sandwich and served with a nice salad of baby spring lettuce with herbs and tiny delicate flower petals. The dressing was bright and refreshing. For it being simple it wasn't missing anything. I did take home a slice of lemon poppyseed loaf and a Banana loaf slice as well. Those were both great. I don't think it was the best I have ever had but they were both really good. Would I order again maybe but I would rather try one the many other beautiful pastries they offer. Such a great variety. Service- I have read a few disappointing reviews on service. My experience, when I placed my order she was very friendly. I ordered my coffee and breakfast for here and then asked for a slice of lemon loaf and banana bread slice to go. I only got the lemon loaf but wasn't charged for the banana so no big deal. They brought my eggs out and it was the full breakfast and not the scramble. I told him how I ordered and he happily took the dish back and said no problem they will make the scramble. A few minutes later he came back with a slice of banana bread for me for the inconvenience. In my case service was perfect. There was a hiccup yes ( which they happen, people really need to be more forgiving in this day and age) they handled it perfectly and will I be back? Gladly with all my friends. Breakfast plate was good I'd get this again if I went back. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and it was sooo small I honestly felt bad I ended up giving him half my potatoes, half my avocado, and a chicken sausage because he was still starving. The lady at the counter helped me with my order and was super nice but said the burrito would be super filling... I disagree. Their coffee is bomb I'd go back for this. They have a nice outside and bar area so plenty of seating which I loved. Overall, go for the coffee and pastries. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this one really missed the mark. I ordered a breakfast sandwich for $16.50, and it was shockingly small, literally smaller than my hand. For that price, I expected something at least filling, but it was the opposite. The bread was honestly the biggest disappointment. This is supposed to be a pastry-focused place, but the bread was so hard and tough it was difficult to chew. It didn't taste fresh at all. Inside, you get just one egg (I ordered sunny side up) and one chicken sausage. The sausage was super dry and felt like it had been reheated from frozen. No flavor, no texture--just disappointing. That's it. No sides, no substance. For $16.50, you leave still hungry. This is a must stop! Every year for summer vacation I make it a point to come in for a latte and breakfast bagel and snag a loaf of sourdough for home or beach snack. Had to try their Date Latte with Almond milk and their house veggie sandwich, and took home a loaf of bread. The loaf was $13, not insane for house baked bread but it was quite a tough loaf that got pretty stale pretty quick, i'm not sure how fresh they are. The sandwich had great flavors, but the huge chunks of pepper jack with the very dense bread made it a little difficult to eat. The latte was great, not overly sweet and I adore their espresso!! Visited Rye Goods on a Saturday around 11AM. There's a parking lot with limited self parking spots but there is valet. The line was right about at the door but they assist you quicker if you're just grabbing bread or pastries. My husband and I ordered 1. Croque Madam - This had a sweet jam-like (?) flavor, which I wished was less sweet, but it was a nice balance with the thick slice of bread and heavier sauce. While the toasts are served on top of a piece of paper, it doesn't work well for this dish as the paper gets wet due to the sauce, and if using a fork and knife to eat the toast, it cuts right through the paper. 2. Rye Scramble - A simple dish with scrambled eggs on a baguette and some greens but this was delicious! The eggs were soft and fluffy. 3. Rye Potatoes - Seasoned well, I just wished they were a tad crispier. 4. Maple Rosemary Matcha - Recommended by the server and I enjoyed it! Sweet but not too sweet and has a hint of rosemary. 5. Peppermint Latte - Husband said the peppermint wasn't too strong but that he enjoyed it that way! We waited 40min for our food but we anticipated that after reading reviews that food took a while. We ate both the Croque Madam and Rye Scramble with a fork and knife and the bread was hard to cut through. Could use some sharper knives! Overall the food/drink and ambiance were great. Came here to say for a girls brunch super cute inside and out with plenty of seating even on a Saturday. The food was pretty good nothing to day dream about and the drinks were perfect we ordered a matcha and a chai. Food wise I was pretty disappointed with my fried chicken sandwich it was really deep fried and dark and the bread was super thick and dry the chipotle mayo was definitely its savory. The bread pudding was pretty dry for a bread pudding but had good flavor. I'd definitely say the caramalized onion pastry was my favorite would be better with maybe from turkey or ham inside but didn't have much to complain about with that one. Staff told us our drinks would be out shortly and they'd call out for us when it's ready I never heard them I just had to keep walking back inside to see if it was ready. Super cute shop with freshly made sourdough bread and pastries. Many of he breads are vegan except for brioche and those that add cheese to it. The bread was absolutely delicious I got the sesame seed sourdough so good!! They also have frozen cookie dough and additional items in the refrigerator section. I love me some sourdough so I must say although it's Rye the sourdough croissant was auhhmazingg. It's airy but chewy at the same time and the sandwich was packed with egg and sausage. It was definitely filling and worth the price. The sourdough pancakes were also soo good with this fruit compote, so easy to down a couple of those. My wife and I stopped by Rye Goods in Costa Mesa, and overall it's a really nice spot with great vibes, a cozy outdoor patio, and a perfect setup if you want to sit, study, or get a little work done while enjoying a drink or snack. My wife grabbed the chicken salad from the fridge along with their sourdough crackers, and honestly, that ended up being the surprise favorite. Usually, I'm not a chicken salad person at all, but this one was actually really good. It had a nice zest to it and a slight sweetness on the finish that made it super flavorful. The sourdough crackers were the perfect combo, adding just the right amount of crunch and salt to balance it all out. We ended up eating the whole thing way faster than expected because it was that good. I ordered the breakfast burrito that our server recommended, but unfortunately, it just completely missed the mark. I had asked between the burrito and the seasonal fruit ricotta and definitely wish I went with the ricotta instead. The burrito was very dull tasting. The potatoes were in big chunks that overpowered everything, and the eggs were cooked too firm and not really scrambled. It was missing flavor, seasoning, and even cheese. The crema on the side was fine, but it didn't really save it. I ended up tossing it halfway through which was disappointing, especially since the rest of the place was so great. That said, Rye Goods still has a lot of charm and you can tell their baked goods and pastries are the real stars. It's an awesome location with a peaceful patio, friendly staff, and a solid environment to grab a coffee, study, or hang out for a bit. First off this new Rye goods location is a 10/10! They have a front and back patio as well as indoor seating! The ambience on these patios feels like you are enjoying your food in your backyard. Rye goods is truly one of my favorites but as you can see they cut my sandwich with a dirty knife and got cream cheese on my sandwich. It wasn't a huge deal since i'm not allergic or anything I just don't like cream cheese. I would just be cautious if you have allergies! rye... u were good, but i'm waiting for u to be great. the location and interior are splendid. the menu looks delish. workers were nice. but my avocado toast needed some help. the decorative paper under the moist saucy toast created a ripped papery warzone, of which i was a little scared to eat upon lest i consume a little paper. miraculously i didn't eat any paper. but I did appreciate the generosity of one whole full avocado being used. And of course the sourdough was bomb. however. i'm here as a mere customer to provide some feedback. the huge pieces of uncut dill were not very functional, i would have appreciated smaller pieces throughout. This goes for pretty much everything else on the plate. the tomatoes n cheese pieces similarly cut too large and sparse. The avocado wasn't cut either, just 2 big halves, suggesting the use of a fork and knife to cut pretty much everything on the plate--however, the paper under the toast and the thick sourdough pieces make the knife/fork experience pretty torturous. It would be best to revisit the form factor of the components of this toast and really consider the eating experience. read more

I ordered the Rye Scrambled Eggs and it was delicious - nice portion with soft scrambled eggs on a not-too-crunchy piece of bread and a refreshing salad on the side. I also had the matcha latte and it was serviceable. The parking is somewhat of a zoo so don't expect to find parking in their lot (unless you're willing to valet) but there is plenty of street parking, as well as a parking lot across the street.
