Only thing great about this place is that its got good vibes and a good looking place to eat. The downside is that the coffee is mid at best and service is horrendous. Horrendous as in servers take a million years to take your orders. I ordered an athletes bowl? And never got the steak. I asked a server by going near the kitchen because nobody would come help us. I will never return. Thanks.

The food was great. We went with the three kids right at 5 pm and the service was great. We sat inside. It is casual chic. Our server was phenomenal. I wish I remembered her name. We got the bizy bag for the kids and it was a hit. The Mac and cheese was so good we got one more for the kids and added steak to it. We got the steak frites and I shared with my husband. The wagyu skewers were great too. My other son had the chicken and veggie bowl. They have cola soda and the kids loved that too.

If you are in Newport Beach area and you need a charging station, this is THE place to visit! The cafe is soooo cute and cozy. The patio with a giant tree in the middle, it makes it so peaceful. We opted for latte, tea and couple of pastries. Everything was delicious. What was THE most memorable was the fact that a nice employee brought a warmer lamp for us w/o us even asking! It was raining very lightly so it was kind of chilly and he noticed that we kind of need the warmer, so he brought it to our table! That was so nice and kind! Thank you to whoever his name was! Be mindful that the parking is a zoo there and it is Valet only!!!! Bookmark it!

The coffee is the best here! There's so much variety around Costa Mesa and I love finding something exceptional. I usually try to get the cold brew - it is so high quality. You can just tell by the color and texture that it's good. The ice is the best part, it's small and perfectly clear. The service is top notch! They do a really good job of maintaining high quality and getting you a drink quickly. I looked at the wines. They seemed like they were mostly from more obscure origins. I would like to stop by sometime and try something.

Wow! We went coffee house hunting this morning - the first place we stopped at in Costa Mesa, there was zero seating to work on a Friday at 10am. So drove to Milligram which seemed very busy as well, but tons more seating. It's the parking that can be a headache, but there are a couple lots to choose from. We were brought out menus right away, the service is amazing here and the ambience out in the courtyard was so peaceful and relaxing. They had a heat lamp going because it was a tad chilly. We got a cappuccino and iced latte with lavender. So so good and pretty! My gf got their vegan nut bread and she liked it a lot. I loved my eggs breakfast, omg, the citrus salad was so good, it had sliced rhubarb on it and the eggs and bread were so tasty and delicious!

I was 1/3 in of meal and beer. But see the nice thick cut fries? Great dinner.

This place deserves a gold star! I've been coming here since it opened a couple of years now. The outside deck is located in a charming Spanish revival courtyard off of 17th street in Costa Mesa. It's a beautiful spot for brunch, mid afternoon snack or gathering spot with friends for dinner. The vibe is Newport relaxed quietly trendy. But let's get on with the food. In the morning if they have the monkey bread in stock don't skip on it. Their avocado toast is exceptionally well done. In the afternoon I recommend their dips and cocktails. They are on the lighter side. The star of the show for me right now is their dinner deals. Recently the restaurant has been doing weeknight specials that really are SPECIAL. Kudos to the chef who did Thursday Parma Chicken night (6/11). We started with a cold draft of Peroni Italian beer. Followed by a plate of Parma chicken, salad and frites. The chicken was other worldly. It was huge! Somehow still crispy with speckles of sesame, even with a layer of melted mozzarella, ham and fresh whole leaves of basil. Fries were thick and perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Two sauces accompanied the plate. A tomatoey one and a creamy aioli for dipping. The salad was fresh and lightly seasoned. At $25 for the whole meal including drink is the best deal in Eastside Costa Mesa. The only critique I have is the beer could have been colder. The salad a little bigger (it was delicious). The courtyard heating lamp a little more ample. Thursday night Parm night went so well, I came back to try their Steak and Frites with Wine on Tuesday night. For $35 it comes with a light French red. You could get a white or an-alcoholic wine. I prefer a deeper red but their choice was probably picked to be the most pleasing for most folks. The salad and frites were well executed as Thursday night. They never asked how we wanted the steak done but delivered perfectly cooked steaks. Seared and slightly crisped on the outside and pink to red center. Their compound pat of butter on top was delicious (I cannot tell what is in it but delicious). They also had two sauces accompanying the plate. One was a grainy mustard that went very well with the steak and the other was their creamy aioli. If you want a great deal and great food try them out for their Tues or Thur special. Go now before word gets out and they get too busy to book a table. I plan to be here this summer for them.

Ordered Milligram Breakfast. Asked for over medium eggs, it looks & tastes like the cooks overcooked it. Toast is burned. Not pictured the sausage one side charred and one side half cooked. My daughter had original burger, patty has no seasoning other than a bitter charred. Attentive staff but food is not as I was expecting. Weirdly enough, our table is the only one with no salt & pepper on the table nor any table set up. Sitting outside when it's a nice weather definitely suggested.

Nice cafe, not my favorite coffee. People inside were super friendly, but I just didn't like what I got. It sounded amazing. Coffee cola! Didn't taste as good as I had hoped. My wife got a coffee with ice cream and like that, so we were 1 for 2. Wished I could have tried some of the pastry or food items, but I wasn't hungry. Maybe next time. Btw, the drink my wife got isn't on the menu. I asked for a regular coffee with ice cream, not the affogato, which is espresso over ice cream.

My togo order that supposed to be a dine-in experience

We arrived around 9:30 AM, and by 10:00 AM our table was still empty--even though we only ordered two simple breakfast dishes. The wait was extremely long, and we eventually had to ask for our food to be packed to-go and leave without being able to enjoy the meal at the restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve. When I finally ate in my car, I found eggshells still in my food, which was very disappointing. The servers were kind and polite, but overall the experience was poor due to slow service and lack of attention to food quality. Management should really work on time management and quality control. If you're planning to dine here, be prepared to wait at least 20-30 minutes for your order.

If you're looking for a small mg of caffeine and food then Milligram Coffee and Kitchen is your place to be. And no, the portion sizes are actually reasonable here. For starters, the vibes are decadent, people will look good and all nicely dressed as per OC standards. Secondly, you may have to wait on weekends but it's not *too* bad usually, at least if you're just dining with 1-2 others. Anyway, food. My fiancé and I got the prosciutto and burrata, short rib and provolone melt, and breakfast ciabatta. The prosciutto and burrata is a take on burrata anything so it's good to start off with. The short rib melt was nice and tender. The meat: juicy, the flavor: savory, the verdict: worthy. The breakfast ciabatta was pretty standard honestly. Nothing great but nothing bad either so it's a safe option if nothing else on the menu stands out to you. Gotta get your egg fix somehow right? Most seating is outdoors so expect to enjoy sunny SoCal weather that we all pay so much to live here for. So all in all, it's a cute place to enjoy good vibes and food but it's not particularly groundbreaking in terms of flavor.

    Wagyu with broccolini
    Ashlyn M.

Truly, the food here is AMAZING! I have been a loyal customer for 5 years. I have hosted company parties here, I get my daily cup of coffee here, breakfast staples (must try the pancakes and breakfast Chibatta!), and now I have had the pleasure of trying dinner. The dinner was FANTASTIC. you must get the Wagyu with broccolini. The agave daydream cocktail was so mellow and delicious to drink! I'll say it now... the Wagyu is better than Nicks. SO good! Ed the owner has trained his staff with the utmost incredible hospitality and takes service to an entirely new elevation. This is Costa Mesa's IT spot! 1000000/100 recommend!

Ambiance is quaint. Service was good and not over bearing. We had Hannah. Food is not too shabby. Nothing mind blowing but certainly does feel clean and didn't destroy our guts afterwards and we are thankful for that. Definitely would try other menu items in the future. Seems like a good little local spot. You too should give it a try. Parking is weird with free valet. We parked on the street and just walked an extra few yards.

Such a cute spot tucked away off of the busy road. Beautiful outdoor seating. I wish I would've taken a picture! Met a friend here for bunch and enjoyed a tasty avocado toast with bacon and a vanilla latte. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Staff was attentive and friendly. I will be coming back.

There were limited wines options this night but I think that's partly because the menu was "curated." Lots of non-alcoholic options which was a pleasant surprise. Menu is on the pricier side. This night we came because they were hosting the food pop up "Three Pigs" which offered a variety of yakitori skewers. We ordered one of everything and my favorites were the beef, chicken thigh, and cucumber salad. I'd love to come back and try Semi Tropic's house menu, but if they keep up a steady rotation of cool pop ups like this I think that would be an amazing idea too! I'm looking forward to their future events. We arrived early in the night (about 5:30pm) so there weren't many people. I'd been a few times but since it's not very conveniently located to me it had been a while since I'd been. He asked about a price range and recommended the Old Fitzgerald, which we'd never even heard of and never tried, but decided to take a chance. We were very impressed with it when we tried it with our friends later on that evening--the most smooth bourbon I think I've ever had. The cashier even went out of her way to find the branded velvet gift bag for the bottle, which was a nice way to present our gift. We were also glad to see that they had a selection of gluten-free beers, as the hubby had developed a gluten sensitivity recently.
