Afternoon tea visit at this high end restaurant inside a fancy hotel. The scenery is nice. Ordered the set that included tea, savory and dessert platter. Overall food was ok. The sweets were a bit overpowering. Tea was hot water with tea bag. Since we paid $$$$ for this combo, I'd expect more out of the food, presentation and quality. Probably wouldn't recommend as there are better choices out there

New brunch spot and aesthetically placing? Sure I'll check it out! We had a girls brunch here and sat inside but the vibe is cute and very open. However, everything else is meh.. as expected. You must valet or there's a parking structure near by for a short distance of a walk. I believe with validation is $15 for 2 hours. The portions of the food are tinyyyy. Kind of a joke honestly for the price you're paying. But I guess it's for the location at Pendry's. Calamari- decently tasting but portion is tiny Pizza- Calabrese&Honey. The honey really makes the pizza Dessert- Crème brûlée- very creamy Drinks- Hugo Spritz- very refreshing Most places that are cute the food is usually meh. But cute spot to hang out

Viamara is located inside the Pendry Hotel where parking is valet only for $15 for 2 hours with validation (without will run you $65). This place is such a beautiful little getaway in Newport Beach- It feels like you are on vacation somewhere tropical and lush with all the greenery. This place got popular on social media due to their high tea offered (I believe you have to book ahead of time) but I came here just for their regular brunch menu. Everything here was quite delicious from the margarita pizza with a very savory garlic butter crust, to the fresh sweet oysters. I also ordered the working lunch with half a market salad and eggplant sandwich; both were delicious but a little pricey at $25 for the portion. The staff is so friendly and attentive making my meal and experience here that much more enjoyable. Overall a very nice experience but you very much are paying for the ambiance and vibe. The food is quite good but definitely on the pricier side and nothing is spectacular about it. I can definitely see myself coming back here for special occasions or if you want a pretty and aesthetic place to dine.

If you're looking for a cutesy spot to catch up with your girl friends, Viamara really is a good option in terms of atmosphere, photo ops, and catching up over small finger foods. The restaurant is gorgeous and everything is aesthetic which was definitely made for photos and long chats. That said, for an afternoon tea experience, I did expect little more. Instead of loose leaf teas, they only offered tea bags which felt underwhelming. Also, all the food in the sets were so cute, but a couple of the bread items didn't taste as fresh and were borderline stale even though they were plated so aesthetically. Some of the bites were okay, while a few others definitely stood out and with good service during the time we went, it balanced out the experience. There were two courses, and the second one (dessert) was my favorite. Overall, Viamara is worth visiting for the aesthetic and vibe, especially if your goal is catching up with friends in a super cute setting or even celebrating a friend's special occasion! Believe it or not, we actually got full but were ready to order a full meal right before we got into our second course. I would recommend to hold off until you finish both courses and to see how you feel. If you plan on visiting this spot, just go in knowing the food is a bit hit or miss, and you'll enjoy the experience for what you make of it.

I've been to SET and the Pendry before, but I hadn't even heard of Viamara until recently (I think it might've been members-only before?). I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and ended up loving it. The aesthetics are so cute--every corner of the space feels thoughtfully designed--and the service was genuinely amazing. Our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive. She made conversation with us, checked in regularly, and even surprised us with a complimentary crème brûlée since we were celebrating a birthday. It's torched tableside, which made it feel extra special. We ordered the burrata, beef carpaccio, chicken parm pizza, and pasta, and they brought out some complimentary bread to start. Everything was good, but the pasta was the standout--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I'd come back just for that. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cute, elevated spot with great service in Newport.

This place is definitely a vibe. Came here for the tea experience with my girls. Ambiance is vibrant with cushy seats, comfy pillows, painted ceilings, and lush greenery so definitely a 10/10. Overall we had a great time, as the service was amazing. There were several people helping us throughout and everyone was attentive and friendly so a 10/10. As far as the food, it was only mediocre. The savory tower had several sandwiches, and my fave was the prosciutto, but the others I could do without 5/10. The sweet tower was better, but nothing to rave about 7/10. And the tea itself, I was disappointed they were not loose leaf as I expected them to be so 6/10. If you want to come here for the vibe and experience, definitely yay! But if you're expecting great food and drinks, it's a nay for me.

Truly had such an amazing and memorable experience here, and it was all thanks to Chef Rob and our server Jason. From start to finish, they both went above and beyond to make our evening special. Chef Rob truly knows what he's doing, the food was absolutely incredible, beautifully prepared, and you can tell there's real passion behind every dish. Everything we tried exceeded our expectations. Jason was just as outstanding. He was attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcomed the entire time. His service was seamless and his humor was infectious (we all couldn't stop laughing). Together, they created such a memorable dining experience for us. It's rare to find service and quality at this level, and we'll definitely be coming back because of them. Highly recommend Viamara and it's all thanks to the wonderful staff.

Cobb salad, salmon and working lunch.

It's been a while since I've been back to the Pendry Hotel in Newport so planned a girls' brunch at their new restaurant called Viamara. Food: 4/5 We got the Cobb salad, salmon and the "working lunch". The salad was a bit on the salty side so I'd skip this one the next time. The salmon was our favorite, flaky and flavorful. For the working lunch, the lobster fusili was refreshing and cold cut was good but not the best I've had. The drinks were STRONG!!! We got tipsy from one drink! Thanks! Service: 5/5 Joe was our server and he's the best! He was welcoming, professional and had great recs! Ambiance: 5/5 Beautiful inside and out, just like me LOL. The restaurant was bright and intimate and clean. Parking is valet only, which is $15 with validation for the first two hours, or you can park at the structure or Fashion Island and walk over. Would love to come back here and try their high tea.

We went for high tea. We travel around to find great high teas It didn't taste fresh or super elevated. The breads were too cold and dry. Scant amount of smear and just lacking. The salmon sandwich and the cheese tart were the best. The sweets were better. The coffee cake like muffin again wasn't tasting fresh. Maybe it was from last week. Here there were better items. Cheesecake was very good and macaroon was excellent. Scone and accompaniments were average. When going to a nice high tea ideally I would expect a loose leaf tea or at least a special tea. The waitress didn't even check on us once. The severe that brought the food were outstanding We finished in less than 45 min. The ambiance is beautiful

Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or fancy meal with loved ones! They are so friendly here and food is excellent. Our favorites were the squash blossoms, branzino and penne alla vodka. For dessert, both the apple crumble tart and tableside creme brulee are delicious!

My friend recommended this place to me for brunch after seeing it on social media. Parking is valet or you can park at the mall and walk over. I started off with an Iced Vanilla Latte and it was okay. All of the sugar was at the bottom of the drink, so when you took a sip, only sugar came up. For my entree, I ordered the lunch duo with spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken club. Both were good and decent. The place is very aesthetic and a good spot for grabbing brunch with friends.

My cousins and I go to high tea or afternoon tea quite often and when I saw a post about high tea at Viamara, I sent it to our group. Everyone was on board so I made a reservation at 1 pm two weeks out. The high tea is $75 per person and they charged my credit card along with tax and 18% gratuity when I made the reservation, which is unusual but okay. Generally, if a restaurant takes your card, they say it's to hold the reservation and to charge a cancellation fee for no-shows. I've never had a restaurant charge in advance for high tea before. I've prepaid for dinner at Michelin restaurants before and this experience was far from it. Viamara is part of the members only Elwood Club at the Pendry in Newport Beach. They opened up dining reservations to the local community so you do not need to be a current member to dine. This may change as they get more members. We all arrived separately and I arrived last. I found the ladies after walking through the Pendry Newport Beach lobby towards the sign that pointed towards Viamara. We were sat inside adjacent to the patio so we had access to the fresh air. The music was too loud and we had to speak over it to hear each other. I noticed that other hotel guests came and went as they were still serving lunch. There was a large party out on the patio celebrating a milestone. There were other parties scattered throughout but by no means were they at capacity. Our server, Jana, stopped at our table to ask us what kind of tea we wanted. We did not get an introductory spiel. We weren't asked if we had every been there before. She just got right to what sort of tea we wanted. She had bags of tea from a French company and only offered us one each. I went with Earl Grey. The others went with English Breakfast and Darjeeling. I would have expected a loose leaf tea but this was not offered. We were not asked if we wanted to order any extra sparkling wine which we had intended to get a bottle to share. We were brought 2 pots of hot water initially. We had to ask for alternative milk and were offered almond milk. We had to ask for spoons to stir our tea as we only had knives and forks at the table. We had to flag down a server to ask if we could order a bottle of the sparkling wine ($17 per glass, $68 per bottle, no savings for getting a bottle, btw.) We were finally brought out additional hot water pots and had to request additional hot water after that. Our server barely checked on us. Jana came out to pour our sparkling wine and maybe refill our glasses once but did not offer anything else. It was like we just took up space. Was it because we had already prepaid for tea, so therefore the service was lackluster? I get paying for the tea in advance but don't charge in advance for gratuity when the service is lackluster. At Viamara, they put all four portions of the savories on the initial 3-tiered tray and all four portions of the sweets on the second 3-tiered tray. It was an interesting departure from what we are used to seeing. At other tea places, they will bring out a 3-tiered tray per couple with the savory and sweet bites on the same 3-tiered tray. It was a noted difference that was not well received. The food was okay. I noted the use of caviar. The best savory bite was the cheese tart. The sandwiches were just okay. They were nothing special. The dessert tray only had one small dish of strawberries, clotted cream, and jam to split between the four of us. Considering how dry the scone was, we had to request more cream. I enjoyed the cheesecake and the chocolate truffles. When it was time for Jana to bring out the check, she noted to us that the tea had already been paid for (by yours truly) but the check was for the bottle of sparkling wine that we ordered, which was to be expected. I put my credit card in the check holder and waited. It was a good 20 minutes and I decided to get up to go to the restroom. I came back to the table and the check holder had not been retrieved with my card. At this point it had been almost 30 minutes and she finally came around to grab my card and return with the receipts for signature. At no time, did she ask any of us, if we needed parking validation. It was fairly clear if we weren't charging the bill to a hotel room that we might need at least parking validation. I get that there is parking on the street or at nearby at Fashion Island, but people do valet as self parking is not available at the Pendry. One of my cousins actually did need validation so even though we had walked out of the restaurant, we had to go back in, to ask for the validation stamp. The service staff needs to up their game. The food was okay. The tea could have been better presented if they want more patrons. For the price, it was not worth it. I would go elsewhere for afternoon tea.

This spot replaced a super crappy brunch buffet, that was one of the saddest buffets I've ever been to. Saw that they opened a new concept and saw that they advertised live DJs on sundays for brunch. So we decided to try it. We sat down and ordered the chicken and waffles platter and steak and salad plate. The chicken and waffle plate was really not that good, not a single item on the platter was good. Waffles, you can tell they tried to make it fancy, but just tasted weird and dry. The syrup, looks like they make in house also, not sweet enough and bland. The chicken was the least bland item out of everything, but it's not worth it at all. The steak was one of the chewiest, dry steaks I've had in a while also under seasoned, maybe even no salt. The chicken platter also had random items on it, that made no sense. Random sprigs of rosemary, marshmallow amongst other items. Nothing seemed to gel and it looked like they were just trying to fill the space with easy things. The mimosas that came with the chicken and waffles platter was the star of our meal. Honestly, I'd say it's hard to make food taste this bland and whatevers. With what they are charging, the steak shouldn't be dry and chewy, let alone not seasoned. Everything was under seasoned like we were in a cardiatric ward in the hospital. You can make better food following any recipe on YouTube. 2 stars for the mimosa and the server was very friendly, service wasn't anything to write home about though. Not busy at all, and a lot of workers just standing around. We didn't get checked on much throughout the meal. Oh and the valet was free at least.

Fun little spot! Would definitely swing by again. You just go in and order your drinks and find…read moreyour own seat. They whip up the drinks super fast! Came on a Saturday afternoon and was such a cozy area to sit outdoors and enjoy drinks with friends :) Tucked in the corner with a vintage, maximalist, whimsical vibe. I got the bees knees and the estoy enamorado and both were a tiny bit sweet for me but still really good!

A very special bar, from the drinks to the decor. I really like that they are open during the day…read moreand also late at night, with mixed indoor and outdoor seating (though the outdoor seating is a bit worn). Vibes are always good. If you have some time while browsing The Lab during the day, I recommend stopping by for a drink! It's also nice to include in your barhopping itinerary in the evening since there are a number of breweries around too. I've had mixed experiences with the bartenders. Luckily, the gentleman manning the bar during my most recent visit was very friendly. Drinks are always great. I've tried a variety of drinks from the menu here, but my favorites are: -Love in Drunk, a lovely cocktail with cucumber and grapefruit flavors that create a fresh watermelon taste when mixed together -Bee's Knees, short but strong and sweet -London Mule, very herbal thanks to the gin and very refreshing
