Wonderful staycation location. The food was great and service post-seating was equally great. My only reservation of giving this establishment 4+ stars is the pre-seating service. We waited at least 10 - 15 minutes in the front before someone came to take our name down. This was consistent for both dinner and breakfast time. As a guest to the connecting hotel, we were not informed reservations would be required or would result in a 30+ minute wait. Again, service post-seating was top tier. The servers were so kind, generous and a delight.

I'd recommend for the harbor views and some drinks. I would not have high expectations for the food, but definitely keep the wallet open for Newport prices. On a Friday night, service was subpar. My sense was that there was a staffing issue. My Caesar salad and focaccia were mediocre, and the tiramisu could have shone had it been allowed to warm up some more. The musician was quite good but we were not able to hear each other talk. Thanks for the views, but that's about it.

We had our brunch here off the menu. So impressed by the service and the food. We had an outside seating facing the yachts and the marina. The beautiful weather was unmatched with the fresh breeze. The music in the background was great. Our foods came and it was off the charts phenomenal. I would definitely recommend to try this place out. Also there's a boutique shop and they have cute items. I was with a member and had the chance to tour the members only area!

Beautiful. Just blissfully beautiful. Dining the other night at A+O was truly an experience right before sunset. The Apps of the Burrata with Focaccia Bread was a perfect pair. The earthiness from the beets and colorful presentation was impeccable. The Clam Chowder had great chunks of clams potatoes and prosciutto! The only thing was that it was a bit on the saltier end of my food palette. Otherwise it was great overall. And the Fish Tacos are to dieee for. I loved it. For breakfast the next morning was even more spectacular. The server Liz was so sweet and kind enough to have our order of the steak and chimichurri pre cut and halved between myself and my friend. The fruit parfait and sliced fruit was absolutely perfect and a great ending to our meal. Cannot wait to dine in again.

Easy reservations through OpenTable unless you are a party of 5 or more. Valet parking at Balboa Bay Resort is validated through A+O. Service is very attentive initially. As the time went on, they were less attentive after all the food came out, but they were accommodating when flagged down. Food was great: a mix of contemporary and Californian. Shareables like the poke nacho, lobster roll, and the grilled shrimp were good. The Chilean sea bass was delicious. Décor is beautiful during the holiday season. The ocean views and breeze were great for outdoor dining. Lovely experience overall.

Location, location, location. Beautiful Sunday morning with warm weather and an outside table with views of the harbor. Life is good. Inside the Balboa Bay Club. Parking validation when dining in the restaurant. Great holiday decorations. Top notch service. Waiters were attentive and kind. I had the eggs benedict with fingerling potatoes. Great sauce with a hint of seasoning that was yummy. Potatoes were also good and cooked perfectly. Avocado toast delish. Would return and try their lunch/dinner menu. Could be 5 stars after trying something other than breakfast.

I've been here a couple of times already and I love it. The espresso martinis are my favorite, although the matcha martini was really good too. The steak with salsa was delicious, and I've also tried the burger it's really yummy. My favorite it's the Ahi Tuna Poke. One time we came for a family birthday, and they surprised us with a beautiful and delicious cake with a candle, which I really appreciated. I love this restaurant. It's next to the marina, so you can see the boats, which makes the views beautiful during the day. At night, it gets super cozy with a great vibe, especially with the fire pits.

Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Had the octopus and Caesar salad and a martini. My friend got the pork belly sliders. Prices are super fair considering the location. Octopus had bright flavors, a bit salty but truly delicious; the Caesar salad was also superb. Sliders looked DELICIOUS. Deanna the server was extremely kind and made the meal more pleasant. Would return!

Fourth of July fireworks could be seen from three different directions as you dine on the patio... The entertainment was really spectacular, Galo played all of our favorite songs.. throughout our entire dinner... ( we literally would come back just to hear him play) Our waiter dylan took great care of us ... the food was very nice however, it being the Fourth of July they were very busy so the service lacked just a little bit.. But you honestly cannot beat those great summer nights in the harbor.. plenty of heaters very dog friendly... Very nice size bar ....

4 of us came here for dinner last Friday just in time for the perfect sunset. The marina views were amazing, especially from the outdoor patio where yachts pass by and fire pits flicker as the sun dips below the horizon. They have a couple of TVs indoors. Service was very good overall given that our lovely server seemed like the only one working that evening. When it comes to the food, the flavors were on point - I opted for something on the lighter side Ahi Tuna Poke and it was very good. I would order that again. Hubs ordered the A+O Burger with a side of Asparagus, Namaste Bowl and Steak Salad for the other couple.

A+O is a beautiful restaurant within the Balboa Bay Resort. You do not need to be a hotel guest to come to the restaurant. They offer valet and self parking too (the restaurant even validates)! They have a beautiful bar with TVs, a large interior space and a gorgeous outdoor patio that sits right near the boats and yachts in the bay. There are spectacular sunsets in the evenings. Their patio also features some cool fire pit areas which is a great touch! They have a great food, drink and dessert menu. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Great ambiance with good views of the water and parked boats. Beautiful food presentation. Fast and good service! Their food is delicious and they serve good coffee! I wish I tried their pastries. Best to make reservations. This is located inside the Balboa bay club and you can get validation for valet service.

This restaurant doubles as a large outdoor venue that backs up into the Balboa Bay. My friend and i sat on the side of the restaurant so we were able to watch the concert happening (and hear it loudly) right next door which ended up actually being a lot of fun and very enjoyable because the music was great. Even though the restaurant was absolutely packed, service was reasonably efficient and the staff seemed to be in good spirits which is always a good sign. Most importantly - every dish we got was phenomenal. The pork belly sliders were probably (surprisingly) my favorites, while my friend raved about the Caesar salad. I would recommend every single appetizer and dessert we got, and the drinks were all great too! Very impressed by my experience here as it exceeded my expectations for a first night of vacation dinner!

While I…read morecould go on with how great my dinner experiences have been (cocktails, Guinness brown bread, fish & chips, burger) and the glamorous Hollywood Regency/Gatsby aesthetic, what really prompted me to write a review was my first brunch experience with them! For drinks, my husband started off with a gin spritz which was refreshing and not too sugary. I wanted herbal tea but all they had was black, so my server got creative and put fresh mint leaves in hot water which hit the spot! For food, we shared the sourdough pancakes with lemon mascarpone and blueberry compote and the shakshuka (with extra poached eggs on the side). Both meals were incredible! The pancakes were the perfect amount of sweetness as the batter was not overly sugary to account for the compote and mascarpone. The shakshuka was bold and rich in flavor and my husband particularly loved the naan that came with it. The struggle now, is whether we come for brunch or dinner!

We started with the Caesar salad, which sounded unique with kale and capers mixed with romaine. It did not disappoint--my husband took the first bite and immediately loved it. For mains, we ordered the Fable Burger and the 12-hour Kurobuta porchetta. The burger was next level, especially with the addition of pork belly--it added so much flavor and made it stand out from a typical burger. The porchetta was also a hit: perfectly cooked, tender, and paired so well with the polenta. We ordered the kids cheese pizza for our toddler and we were surprised how big it was. Definitely worth the price! Honestly, we loved everything we ordered and enjoyed every single bite. Service was fantastic as well--friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food took a while to come out. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but definitely noticeable. Overall, a great dining experience and definitely worth trying!

It was very crowded on a Sunday night around 6:00pm. We made reservations but arrived a little early so elected for a drink at the bar. Right in cue we spotted two stools open up so grabbed them. I didn't catch our bartenders name but she was very friendly and attentive. They all seamed happy and friendly. We ordered two Tito's dirty martinis and she served them properly. Super cold and to the rim. Perfect start. We loved sitting at the bar so cancelled our table reservation and ordered food. I ordered the Truffle Udon Carbonara* egg yolk, bacon, dashi truffle cream sauce. $27. So tasty. I would order again and again. My husband ordered skewer chicken with spicy rice. He loved it. We thought the restaurant was great. Easy to find parking or you can valet if you prefer, friendly staff and delicious food. We will make it a point at come back next time we are in town.

You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10.
