Came on a Wednesday for a wine Wednesday night with my gals. Overall it's a cute spot I can see the appeal but there's very limited food and wine options which is surprising since it is a wine bar. I noticed the selections they had for wine was too marked up for what the actual cost of the bottle was. Don't get me wrong it's a great chill spot to catch up with friends, sit and chit chat but nothing about the wine or food options amazed me.

Semi Tropic Wines is such a lovely, graceful space to spend time with loved ones. The inviting, clean space and upbeat ambiance opens avenues for a guaranteed good time, something I admire. The orange wine and pink (forgot the name) wine were smooth and paired well with the sourdough dish and potatoes. The dipping sauces were a bit too liquid in consistency, but the flavor popped. I was impressed with the live jazz on Thursday evenings and the variety of seasonal menu items by Posse.

It was my first time visiting this place and I am not a huge wine drinker to begin with. But the staff were super helpful in suggesting types of wine and which bottle to get and we opted for an orange one! It kind of tasted like a beer / cider! For someone who isn't a big fan of wine, I would say it was alright! Service was amazing for the most part, but it did take a while for our cheeseboard to come out (I think they forgot about it) The cheeseboard was yummy! It had a nice balance of different things to eat :)

$15 Wednesday flights are such a great deal!!!! We got to choose which type of wine we preferred so we went with a sparkling, orange, and white wine. The pizzas were good but nothing special, and a little pricey at about $25 per pizza. The standout dish was definitely the caesar salad, like honestly the best caesar salad I've ever had. Each piece of lettuce was coated with the most delicious dressing, parmesan, and bread crumbs! Would 1000% come back just for the salad, I hope it stays on the menu!!!

Saw this on tiktok, and as a lover of wines (and drinking them too) my gf and I decided to try this local spot. Great decor inside, with plentiful seating outdoors as well. You can simply open up a tab at the bar, and they also have a variety of finger foods which pair well with any of the wines you choose. If you're looking to drink for a good while, I'd recommend getting a bottle to share. Service was excellent and their wine selection was a bit small, but excellent in taste. My favorite was the Greek White Wine they had.

Stopped by for a burger and bev while hamburger nice was in town. Best burgers around, hands down. Good selection of beer , wine , and snacks. While there, they had live jazz going as well. Perfect way to unwind after a long day.

Got a word of mouth recommendation for Semi Tropic Wines and decided to try with my friend! It's located in Costa Mesa on 19th st. Not much parking out front but we parked across the street and just walked across. The ambiance is really cute and moody with dimmed lighting. Great selection of wines and they also offer wine tastings in a private room which I would like to do next time! We ordered the gouda cheese board and added slices of coppa, it came with bread which was nice. We also ordered the beans which tasted okay but I don't think I'd order again. Great service and plenty of seating inside and outside! Overall we had a great girls night! We sat outside, shared a big bottle of Pinot Grigio and yapped for a few hours. Highly recommend.

My friend and I found this place on TikTok because we saw someone posted that there was jazz and charcuterie boards on Saturdays so we were bummed when we walked in on a Saturday evening and there was neither jazz or charcuterie boards. It's not the restaurants fault by any means but that was quite a bummer since the drive was quite long to get there. The girl who greeted us was not very friendly and told us to take a seat and order at the bar which was confusing since we saw other tables with servers. My friend and I sat down and were greeted by our actual server which was another girl and she was so sweet. Since she saw we were bummed by the misleading TikTok online, she offered the ricotta and sourdough bread which was AMAZING. The wine selection was just OK. The ambiance inside was cute with moody lights but it was very small with only a few spots at the bar and a few tables. The bathroom was dirty and smelled like urine which was disappointing too. I'm not rushing to give this place a second try, to be honest.

THE spot for a chill girls' night out! Our group dropped in on a Thursday night to sip, savor, and enjoy the live Jazz. Super cute, aesthetic, and totally hipster. If taking cute pics with little bevies in hand is your vibe, this is the spot! For sips, we took recommendations from the bartender. This was absolutely the move! We told her our notes and absolutely LOVED everything she suggested. For bites, we went with their Cheeseboard featuring various cheeses, almonds, olives, honey, pickled veggies, and sourdough. All made amazing drink pairings! On the particular night we visited, they also had a dumpling pop-up going on if you were looking for some more substantial eats.

Stunning ambience and vibe. Jazz Thursday nights will keep me coming back for sure! Small but clear menu with good options for a perfect relaxed, but classy night out. Great date spot or night with the girls! Romantic but casual. Got the white wine "Vinoh Verde" with some of their cheddar cheese and was satisfied.

We went for jazz night! The band was really good! The food also tasted really good. However, I was a little upset to see a $25 bowl of pasta look like it was the size of a side. However, it was still really good. The servers/bartenders were also really nice and offered us a splash of wine to try before ordering!

I've been wanting to check out Semi Tropic for a while! We came on a Friday night which meant difficult to find parking in their tiny lot, but no worries. We made it in. :) We ordered two glasses of their "disco wine" which the server described as their nicer wine. The price on the menu was listed as market price .... We didn't ask details, just paid. The total for two glasses came out to $45.99!!!! I later saw that included a 20% gratuity for pouring wine that we weren't informed of before ordering sadly :/ and tax. We enjoyed the wine. Loved the ambiance -- it felt like a coffee shop. Very relaxing atmosphere. When we finished our wine, we went into their bottle shop. What did we see but the "disco wine" we had ordered. The whole bottle for $36!!!! Less than what we paid for two glasses. We enjoyed Semi Tropic, but if we return we'll likely just buy a bottle to go since the by the glass prices are gauged so intensely

First of all, people underage barely drink wine, let alone know what orange/skin contact wine is. Second of all, I'll show it obviously. Anyways, we came back 2 days later because we really wanted to try this place on our way back home. The owner's daughter was working, and SHE WAS SO SWEET. One of the best customer service experiences. We got some olive oil samples (lemon & basil) & it was so good w/our bread, we ended up buying the olive oil 5 piece sampler pack. Never been more into olive oil than now. That basil was extremely tasty. Also had my orange wine (amazing flavor + so crisp), plus a drink consisting of sparkling wine w/pear or peach balsamic vinegar???? Surprisingly SO GOOD. She told us there's a location in La Jolla and we live in San Diego, so we may become regulars there!! Thanks for the amazing Valentine's Day experience.

The service was also great, we had a friend that ordered a drink not knowing there was cinnamon inside; upon hearing that she couldn't have cinnamon, our server immediately changed her drink into something she could have! For food we ordered the granola bowl, the chicken sandwich, and the toast that came with a delectable dipping sauce. I ordered an orange juice as well and I really recommend it! I rarely have orange juice but wanted to try it and it was really fresh (tasted freshly squeezed). The granola bowl was perfect, not too sweet. The sandwich was also made perfectly. All in all, would definitely come back for the food, vibes, and service!

The…read moreoutside deck is located in a charming Spanish revival courtyard off of 17th street in Costa Mesa. It's a beautiful spot for brunch, mid afternoon snack or gathering spot with friends for dinner. The vibe is Newport relaxed quietly trendy. But let's get on with the food. In the morning if they have the monkey bread in stock don't skip on it. Their avocado toast is exceptionally well done. In the afternoon I recommend their dips and cocktails. They are on the lighter side. The star of the show for me right now is their dinner deals. Recently the restaurant has been doing weeknight specials that really are SPECIAL. Kudos to the chef who did Thursday Parma Chicken night (6/11). We started with a cold draft of Peroni Italian beer. Followed by a plate of Parma chicken, salad and frites. The chicken was other worldly. It was huge! Somehow still crispy with speckles of sesame, even with a layer of melted mozzarella, ham and fresh whole leaves of basil. Fries were thick and perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Two sauces accompanied the plate. A tomatoey one and a creamy aioli for dipping. The salad was fresh and lightly seasoned. At $25 for the whole meal including drink is the best deal in Eastside Costa Mesa. The only critique I have is the beer could have been colder. The salad a little bigger (it was delicious). The courtyard heating lamp a little more ample. Thursday night Parm night went so well, I came back to try their Steak and Frites with Wine on Tuesday night. For $35 it comes with a light French red. You could get a white or an-alcoholic wine. I prefer a deeper red but their choice was probably picked to be the most pleasing for most folks. The salad and frites were well executed as Thursday night. They never asked how we wanted the steak done but delivered perfectly cooked steaks. Seared and slightly crisped on the outside and pink to red center. Their compound pat of butter on top was delicious (I cannot tell what is in it but delicious). They also had two sauces accompanying the plate. One was a grainy mustard that went very well with the steak and the other was their creamy aioli. If you want a great deal and great food try them out for their Tues or Thur special. Go now before word gets out and they get too busy to book a table. I plan to be here this summer for them.
