I gave 3 stars because the burger was really good, but unfortunately, the service and overall experience were lacking. Honestly, I got less energy from this place than I would from a food truck. The PNP fries were over $10, yet they came with barely any sauce and hardly any cheese. The grilled onions added for extra were placed underneath the fries and cheese, so you'd practically need a spoon to actually get to them. I went back and paid an additional $1.50 for extra sauce to make up for the lack of it, and they gave me a tiny little cup. On top of that, my to-go order didn't come with any forks or napkins. When I went back to ask for some, the staff seemed annoyed. The burger itself was really good, which is why I gave 3 stars, but for the price, I expected better portions, attention to detail, and customer service.
The burgers here were very tasty and packed with flavor. My boyfriend ordered 2 cheeseburgers (double the protein) and I got the grilled smash (double the protein) and a side of their fries with their sauce and cheese melted on top. The turnaround time on our order was very short, which we appreciated since we came hungry. The only critique about my burger and fries was that I wished it wasn't so soggy, but I think that's moreso preference. Otherwise, great spot, quick service and less guilty option.

YUMMYYYYY!!! If you like In-n-out, think of this place as the healthier, better tasting cousin. Organic grass fed beef burgers + fries cooked in beef tallow was *chefs kiss* The PnP fries are very similar to animal style fries, however these fries are so much better in terms of the fry type & additional condiments added. Everything about this place is beyond clean from their food to the place itself. Like no joke, the establishment was so clean:) I wish we had this place in San Diego. I'd definitely come back again.

I noticed several people standing there trying to figure it out. The difference between the cheeseburger and smash burger wasn't very clear, and the pricing jumps quickly as you add patties. The shopping center itself is a cool place to hang out with plenty of outdoor seating, and parking is easy once you find your way around. If you're nearby and craving a smash burger, it's worth stopping in. But if you're driving across Orange County looking for a burger that will blow you away, this probably isn't the one. Maybe I've become a de facto burger critic without the credentials...just years of eating my way through OC, one burger at a time. That's the blessing and the curse. I've had enough great burgers that it takes something truly special to impress me. PNP is good...just not great.

There is one tablet for ordering which is fine if it's empty but if you have people waiting you could feel a lot of pressure and you have to go through and make many selections for a burger, sides, etc... so ordering can be a slow process. The interior was clean and loud with the concrete floors, but it's a spot that manages every napkin going out. The to-go bag (which we ate there but I guess hit to-go unknowingly on the tablet) was really thick so no tallow grease from the fries leaking in you, which would be nice. The food - the burgers were really, really good! You could for sure taste the difference in quality and tallow. The sauces were good but expensive for what you get. The fries, were soggy which I usually can't stand (I like a crispy fry order "light well fries" as In-n-Out) but they were honestly so good tasting I didn't care how limp they were because.... They actually tasted like potatoes unlike many fries that just taste bland and are more of a ketchup or sauce delivery device. Overall this place was great. Be prepared to be charged for any and everything, which I think makes the initial price look better but in the end you're going to end up around $20 a burger. To save some $$$ being your own drink, the drinks are overly expensive! Should you go? I don't think you walk away with even an ounce of regret but you will walk away with less in your bank account.
It was a delicious burger! We had a three level, I mean, three patty burger. Family members love, the fact that it was all natural ingredients, and no seed oils. They bake their bread there as well. The burger meat Patty was delicious and moist & had a great flavorful taste to it.

I got the double sized and that costed me ~$14 and fries ($6) and I unfortunately was not satiated. For reference, 1 hamburger at In-n-out and fries would have me full. I could've eaten 2 triple burgers and a side of fries to be satisfied, but that would've run easily for $35+. I also tried the Pn-P fries, which wasn't any lthing special for an additional $4 to the cost, so I'd recommend just getting the normal fries. P.s. the group I came with ordered the same as me and had to go back to order another because yes, it was THAT good, but also... one burger and fries were not as fulfilling. Service 9/10: solid wait especially for dinner time but not bad. You order on kiosk and can help yourself to the fridge if you ordered a drink. Ambiance 8/10: plenty of parking outside but dining area inside restaurant itself is a bit limited. However, this location is in a mini mall full of furniture, knick knacks, and smaller business stores, and there are plenty of seating around the restaurant. Overall, I have yet to find a tastier smash burger spot in OC, but due to cost, I'll return when I am desperately craving a smash burger.
Tried out Palms n' Patties after seeing them all over the socials and yeah, I can see why they're gaining quite the following. This place was packed and the grub explains why; burgers were balanced and surprisingly not heavy for being so savory and the fries were excellent in their crispiness (I like them on the thinner side) and flavor (love that beef tallow )! Space is very limited but the ambiance is very relaxed and wait was a bit long but service was solid. : Double Cheeseburger, Double Smashburger, Fries (fried in beef tallow)
Got the grilled smash burger while on my lunch break. Luckily there was no wait despite coming at lunch time. Nice quaint spot and can see the kitchen where burgers are prepared. Smash pattie was fire and ended up finishing the entire burger lol. There's indoor seating and more available connected to the indoor plaza so I got some milk tea while I ate my burger. Next time, I'll try the fries!
I was excited to try this place as the non seed oil and beef tallow "healthier" burger option but the price and size just can't justify the hefty price point for a decent burger. All burgers have a smash patty and are good but nothing impressive. It was $13 dollars for a double double which was not even that big. Best option is the SMASH burger and I liked it without pickles to emphasize the butteriness of the burger. The beef tallow fries were ok but nothing special. I will say I felt pretty light after so maybe the better ingredients did do something but I did crave another burger and felt it defeated the purpose. It was good but fell short from my high expectation.
They are located at Soco and have indoor and outdoor seating. The service was nice because they greeted you and asked if I had any questions. I ordered through the kiosk. For the burger I opted for the 2 patties. It was my first time eating a smash burger and it tasted good and crispy. However the price is quite pricey for a burger but they do use grass fed beef. They also package your burger in a bag. There was also a few people ahead of me and I thought the food came out at a reasonable time. Overall, it was a nice experience.

This is a great place for smash burgers. The place is small so seating is limited but it is part of larger food court area so there's more places to sit outside. We got the grilled smash and hand cut fries. Sidenote they don't offer free water so you'll have to buy a bottle. Grilled Smash- You get gooey american cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and house sauce over a perfectly thin grilled burger patty. Bun has a nice grill sear to it too. Incredibly tasty! Hand Cut Fries- Beautifully crisp and fried in beef tallow. Served piping hot with a good amount if flavor. Great experience overall! read more

It's good quality ingredients, but I can't really recommend a burger, fires and a Coke for 30 bucks ordered off a touch screen. Got a double burger which still was small and fries which were pretty mushy, but fried in beef tallow so you can feel better about them. Seating is rough inside nice outside but nice outside. It's the old Taco Maria spot, so a pleasant place to chat and watch the goings on. Service at pickup was relatively quick with a large bag. It's fine, but so is In and Out which is a third the price. read more
After seeing on social media, this burger place uses grass fed organic beef, no seed oils and organic options, I was curious. It's in a really cute area called OC Mix. Beautiful patio area to sit. The restaurant is very simple, order at a keypad, orders are grilled to order. We ordered the smash burger and the sourdough burger plus fries. The sourdough burger was excellent. Double patty with grilled onions and cheese, sauce. The smash burger was ok, it wasn't the best I've had. The French fries were very good. I would come back for the sourdough melt, and maybe try the smash burger but as a double patty. I would recommend coming here, I'll be back, I want to try a couple of other options too. read more

Came by to check out during lunch hour with a few colleagues. Ordering is straight forward since it's off a tablet. You're able to make adjustments to your liking. Interior and aesthetic was cool with the white and blue/green colors. Got to try a side of fries and a double grilled smash. You can taste the difference in how the fries are prepped. As for the burger, it tasted decent. It did leave me wanting to eat more. Maybe because it was lunch rush, the quality was not as good as I hoped for. Pricing for items was another reason for the best review. Nonetheless, cool establishment to checkout and try. read more

The cleanest burgers in Orange county, you have my interest! Located at "The Mix" down the street from South Coast plaza in a center that has lots of neat custom furnishing shops and boutiques. I saw the little advertisement and had to put them to the test. I ordered a smash burger and fries and I have to say they were definitely clean tasting, not greasy, but juicy and flavorful. Fries are cooked in beef tallow, which is great for those of us that don't do seed oils!! Next time I think I will order a double as the meat to bun ratio was off with the single, but live and learn. I found Palms & Patties on TikTok and expected something amazing, but it didn't quite deliver. The location felt odd, kind of tucked away, and the vibe was off as soon as we walked in. No greeting, no welcome, just five guys behind the counter chatting. There was only one kiosk for orders, and no one actively helping. We waited about five minutes just to place an order, and even another customer commented on how inefficient it was. Seating wasn't great either. The tables were small and not ideal for groups. We had to grab an extra chair ourselves. When the food finally came, the burger was tasty but super greasy, and it didn't fill me up. I'd need a double or triple next time, which isn't ideal. Totally worth the hype! Usually when I eat burgers and fries I feel like crap after from the onslaught of seed oils and calories. At Palms n' Patties it's like I had a kale salad and beet juice smoothie. Even though I had a burger and fries lol. Ordering could not be easier. Kiosk system, super easy to understand. The staff were friendly and asked if we needed any help. Seating is ample on the patio and the shopping center is MASSIVE with 20 higher end furniture stores and restaurants. Prices are higher because you're getting a higher quality product. I have no problem paying more for grass-fed organic beef, organic cheddar and fries cooked in beef tallow. If you think it's too expensive then it's too expensive for you. Your car payment is $800/mo but clean food is too much, right. Best French fries in OC hands down. I would come back here just to eat a huge order of fries. They were absolutely cooked a perfect perfection and didn't give me any of the seed oil inflammatory feeling after I've been dreaming about these fries since I had them. You can't really screw up burgers, and these Smashburger's were excellent with grilled onions and organic cheddar cheese. I got mine lettuce wrapped. 9.7/10, best of the best. Costa Mesa, Ca. The Burger here is ok, nothing great. The paper thin patty is pretty much overwhelmed by the bun and sauce. The sauce provided the flavor, even the jalapeños did little to add. The burger is served up in a disposable carton that is kind of sterile looking and offered up a poor presentation, but who cares, right? I had trouble with the kiosk when ordering. The people working here do not interact to assist. A kind person in line helped but he had trouble with a step necessary to continue also. Not really old people friendly. The seating is outside in a patio area which has a vibe like a corporate campus lunch area, minus the Corn Hole platforms. read more
Love the tallow fries! The texture and flavor are wonderful. The burger itself is also very good, I wish the patty had a bit more meat so I'd have to get a double next time if I want to feel full. As a first timer I didn't realize we just place order ourselves at the little cash register kiosk thing and was just standing there stupidly, wondering why none of the staff would turn around. Someone behind me clued me in, annoyed, and jumped in front of me since it appeared I was taking too long. Maybe make any signage about how to order so big you can't miss it? I didn't see anything around me indicating how to order :( Weird that it's in a food court for a furniture shopping area. Beautiful design of outdoor area, but also felt really...I don't know the word for it...sterile? Lacking warmth? Anyway, the food is worth coming back for if we happen to be in the area. read more

Just ate here with a couple other guys, and we crushed these burgers. My boy piled a handful of the fries onto the patties and smashed them in there: so good! Great parking, clean bathrooms, super busy, but FAST and thoughtful: the manager came around the counter and came and asked me, "are you the gentleman who asked about dairy in the buns?" and let me know the sourdough is safe. They also didn't blink when I noticed they buttered the bread, and toasted new bread dry. Ambiance is nice, music is chill and good. In n Out wishes they could read more

We went here to check out what all the hype was about. I had super high hopes because it really looked good on all the Instagram reviews. So when we showed up there was a long line so make sure you're not super hungry. When you place your order you'll be placing it on a kiosk. We were a little confused because there were no signs as to where to order but figured it out. When we finally got our food the order was wrong we ordered 2 burgers plain and 2 burgers with no onions. We got 4 burgers with everything on them . When I went up to let them know the order was wrong they were a tad rude and said I needed to wait longer. I didn't take offense because they were super busy and my family is in the service industry so I understand the pressure. Since I didn't want to wait because the kids were also starving I told them I would just pick it off. The fries were ok, I didn't think it was special. The burgers were also small for the price in my opinion! I ordered a double patty and it seemed like it was only a single patty . I really wanted to like this place but for the trouble and price I don't think I'll be coming back. read more
I heard about their organic grass-fed beef smash burgers cooked with no seed oils and am happy that they totally lived up to the hype. I was worried that the line would be crazy long since we were there at noon on a Sunday but the line actually started after we placed our order. You self-order at the tablet and there is only 1 tablet. The burgers look smaller since they are smash-style burgers but are actually very filling. The PnP fries fried in beef tallow are so unique. Their housemade aioli really shines in the fries as you can taste it even more than you can in the burger. We opted for Parmesan for the cheese topping and the whole thing solidifies into a sheet on top of the fries. Next time, if there is no line, I would want to try ordering the fries after we finish our burgers to enjoy the fries while they are fresh and still hot. The nice aesthetics of the OC mix really contributes to a nice ambience when eating here. There is seating on their store patio outside and a couple small tables inside. There is a courtyard with a water fountain right outside it with other tables as well. There is a restroom inside the adjoining food court area with one restroom per gender so lines could be long when it's the lunch rush time. This was definitely worth the visit! read more

always on the lookout for a good burger place and finally got to try this one! we got two single smash burgers, one with grilled onions and the other with raw onions and no pickles, and a side of beef tallow fries. i personally liked the flavor of the one with no grilled onions and pickles since i was able to taste the flavor of the burger more! the fries were pretty yummy i like how crispy and salty they were!! since this place is part of a food hall, the inside is pretty small but it has tons of outdoor seating. very straight forward ordering process since you order at a kiosk. however you might get unlucky (like me) and get stuck behind someone taking more than 5 minutes to order... i just wished the workers would help out with taking orders, but they don't even greet customers. not a bad burger place; just expensive and customer service was a little lackluster. read more

Right in the middle of SOCO shopping center. Order at the register - seems like on an iPad (or online in advance like we did). Indoor and outdoor seating in a casual atmosphere. Minimal staff interaction. We tried the cheeseburger, smash burger, fries, and PNP fries (acronym for their name), which comes with cheese and sauce on them. Everything was great! Not the biggest quantities, but you can taste the quality. Small menu - we got nearly all of their food offerings. The two other burgers cost nearly twice as much, so we skipped them. Cost us mid $30s with tax and small tip as of Mar 2026. read more

Wow what a gem in the middle of the soco area! The menu is pretty simple, we got a cheeseburger and smash burger(with jalepenos) and it was definitely one of the best burgers I've had. We also got the pnp fries with parmesan and omg it was divineeeee. We went on a Thursday evening so it wasn't too busy and we were able to sit on the outdoor patio. My son found Palms n Patties and couldn't say enough great things about it so I was super excited to check them out. We came out on a Sunday afternoon and found them to be comfortable busy. All the ordering in store is done at a kiosk, no intentional interaction with the workers. With that in mind, I was mildly bothered that they actually had a tip jar out. Why exactly would I tip if no assistance was given? But i digress. Order placing was easy and self explanatory. When your order is ready they call your name ~ the ONLY time interaction is made (unless you need to ask for extra napkins and condiments). Anyway, they have a very small indoor dining area and a little bigger outdoor patio. The shopping center it's in has some seating that could be utilized if their dining areas are full. The burgers were very good! Their fries are hand cut and cooked in tallow and they were SO good! Drink choices are limited to some bottles of sparkling water and healthy (probiotic) sodas in a serve yourself fridge. Besides limited worker interaction, I also question why they added a "large party fee" of 5% to my order when there were only 3 people in my party AND we placed our own order AND we cleaned our table up after ourselves when we left. No where on their menu is this fee mentioned. At least in traditional sit down restaurants they clearly note on the menu that parties of (usually) 6 or more will be charged a standard tip automatically. Is it even okay to place a surcharge on something without mentioning it first? Honestly I'm not usually the type of person to get a burger at any place besides In N Out but I saw there was a long line out the door so I was curious to try it. The interior inside is quite small and there is limited seating, but there is more space and seating outside of the store. There is a very modernized retro-y feel to the place and I like the color palette that they used for the decor. Their burgers are advertised "100% organic, grass-fed beef never compromised, never processed and cooked without seed oils." Now burgers aren't something you necessarily eat when you're trying to be healthy, but I was intrigued to find out if the higher prices and aesthetic concept would mean a somewhat good, healthier burger that doesn't compromise on taste. I ordered a cheeseburger and pnp fries. I will say I was shocked that upon eating it, it was very delicious but also felt very light and nongreasy. Portion was on the smaller side and a single cheeseburger will run you 7.77, but honestly I did not feel gross after eating it and was very satisfied with the quality and taste. Pnp fries were a bit soggy since we waited to eat it when we got home, but wow the flavor you get from cooking the fries in tallow is honestly life changing and a huge upgrade from the regular oils typically used. These were really good and flavorful, but also, didn't feel as gross and greasy as a typical order of loaded fries. Definitely would come back here since it's not too far if I'm craving a healthier alternative for burgers and fries. read more
Okay so this location is in SOCO. I seen this on IG and personally I think it's a bit overhyped. Every order is Ala Cart. The prices for three burgers, 2 fries, and 3 drinks was almost 70 dollars which is ridiculous. The ambiance is fast pace and you order through a kiosk so there is no real service. The first burger was the sourdough double smash patty. The patty is smashed to a crisp which is pretty good. I added jalapeños for a kick and it didn't really disappoint. My burger was super soggy and messy. The meat is fresh as you can taste it. I give it a 3.9/5. The other two burgers were the basic smash, noting too impressive. 3/5. The first fries was not bad, for 7 dollars I expected more. It taste like In n Out with more seasoning. 2.9/5. The PnP fries was trash. Soggy and overly greasy. Which I get, it's like their version of animal style fries. 2/5. Overall I wouldn't come back. This is a one and done for me. read more
My husband and I came across Palms n' Patties while looking up nearby burger spots. The photos looked amazing, so we decided to give it a try. When you walk in, you order from a screen at the register, which makes it really easy to customize your order exactly how you want, with pretty much no room for error. We both ordered double cheeseburgers with a side of fries cooked in beef tallow (the menu mentions that they don't use seed oils). Our food was ready in under ten minutes. The burgers tasted super fresh, and you could the ingredients were of good quality. I didn't feel heavy afterwards at all. The fries reminded me of In-N-Out style fries, except they actually had great flavor. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely be back! read more

My hair stylist recommended me this place and I am so glad she did because it was amazing!! I came on a weekday evening and it was pretty late at night so there was no wait. The workers were so nice and gave me their recommendations! It's in the food court of a cute little shopping plaza. I wanted to order the grilled smash burger but I was so tired and wasn't thinking and ordered the cheeseburger. Regardless, it was still so delicious!! I loved the sauce and grilled onion, and the patty was so crispy but also super juicy. I can't even imagine how good it would taste with the grilled buns! I also got the fries, which are cooked in beef tallow. I'm usually never able to finish an entire portion of fries by myself, but I literally ate every single fry and was even digging around in my bag for any scraps. They reminded me of how fast food fries used to taste and was very nostalgic! I will definitely have to be back to try their grilled smash and get more of their fries.
