Solid spot for tacos! It's right down the street from work, so my coworkers and I stopped by for Taco Tuesday not too long ago. Luckily, we left before the lunch rush, and my expert driver coworker managed to pull off an epic u-turn right in front of the restaurant - snagging a spot literally across the street. But yea - parking here is going to be tough since its the Orange circle (tiny streets, aggressive drivers). Taco Stand looks small from the outside - but it's long and wide once you step inside. Seating is plentiful - but considering that its a popular taco spot, you're going to have trouble finding a spot and might have to eat to-go. There's your usual fixins' of tacos, burritos, fries, chips and dips - and my coworker loves their churros - which comes with condensed milk dipping sauce. I opted for the California burrito - which contains flame-grilled angus steak, cheese, fries, guac, tomatoes, salsa, and sour cream. It was huge! Luckily, I had asked the friendly clerk if she could make sure the kitchen cuts it in half, cuz it was definitely too much for lunch/one person. This was such a good burrito! Good ratio of premium fillings (meat, guac) to the filler stuff like fries and tomatoes. The steak was well seasoned - and had that fresh/just cooked tenderness to it - rather than steak that's been sitting out for awhile. My coworkers got all sorts of other stuff - including the fresh churros. There's a well-stocked fresh salsa bar - I just stuck to my usual mild / "boring" sauces - but the creamy thousand island dressing looking sauce was moderately spicy and bearable. Service was prompt and efficient. We managed to snag a table right before the place started filling out - there was a line out the door by the time my group left. I like that the tables have these built-in cupholders on the side - so they don't take up premium tabletop space. Overall, a solid spot for tacos - if you don't mind dealing with the tight traffic and parking mess around the Orange Circle. I don't see myself coming back here unless its with other people, since I'd be too claustrophobic driving in these tight corridors. read more

It's been a few years since I've had The Taco Stand, but I remember enjoying my surf and turf (mar y tierra) burrito. During this most recent visit, I found myself wondering if they changed the recipe at all? There was a bunch of cabbage inside which was quite overpowering for my palate. I also was not a huge fan of the taste of the shrimp or the steak. The depth of flavor for burritos that I normally enjoy was unfortunately lacking. We also ordered the 1lb bag of chips but I would recommend ordering only if you have a group of 4 or more people. It's a large quantity of chips and they weren't the kind where I find myself constantly reaching for more. Overall, this trip left me rather disappointed and I'll likely try new spots for Mexican food if I find myself in Orange again. read more

They have a salsa bar and the restaurant has a rustic industrial look. Service is a little slow, but that's expected with how busy they are. The Taco Stand is OK taco not the best one or delicious one. Its just OK one. We ordered Cameron/ shrimp taco. The wait time was unnecessary too long specially that we didnt go there on rush time and we easily got a table. Ambiance was ok and kind of crowded. Quality was they were just ok. My taco was too oily which i skipped to eat the tortilla and even i took a pic for reference. It gad too much Mayo. And honestly it doesnt make sense using mayo on taco. Traditional tacos use crema mexicana which its very delicious and actually in harmony with the rest of flavors.s So basically not my fav one. They were so cheap in compare to other taco places that I went and my taco had 4 shrimps to good deal. Órale, órale! This is my favorite taco spot in OC and it's a bit better than Los Cholos too. Been coming here for years now, the consistency and quality still remain the same and delicious. Never had a bad taco here, so you know they be putting up the good work. Came in last night, and no, they don't have Taco Tuesday specials, but I will still pay for those bomb ass tacos because it's definitely worthwhile. The whole place was pack and lit up with bright lights. It's by Chapman University, so you gonna see lots of students coming by too. The staff there were also friendly and patient. The lady in the back was nice to cut up new fresh limes for me. Always a good vibe here! It was random seeing some of my homies here too the other day. Just goes to show how popping it is! I got two el pastor and one carne asada, and my partner got a Baja fish and the mushroom taco. Everything a 5/5. Their homemade corn tortilla is on a different level and not soaked in oil. The texture is good. The meat is good quality too and very tender/juicy. My favorite one was the el pastor with those pineapple bites. The mushroom taco on the other to my surprise was quite tasty! All the sauces are bomb, but I really like the super spicy one, the green one, and orange one. You gotta try every sauce to see what matches your palate. The pickle onion was tangy enough and had pepper on it for a nice kick. The guac and chip is so good and well seasoned. Just wished there was more guac in the small cup. Came here around 11:30 am on a taco Tuesday and there was not much of a wait surprisingly. Though the seating is very small and gets crowded quickly, besides that the place is nice and cozy and clean. I ordered al pastor, pollo asado, mushroom tacos, and churros. The tacos were really well done and the house made corn tortillas really shined and had the perfect bite yet was nice and soft. The tacos were right up there with los cholos in my opinion though the salsa bar was not as extensive as theirs. That said the creamy salsas were tasty and my favorite were the seasoned pickled onions and the salsa Negra. The churros were hot, crispy and fresh and made to order which was a nice touch and served with condensed milk. I will 100% be back and try more on the menu. read more

I originally wanted tacos from here, hence the name, but was told to get the California burrito instead and it was pretty solid! It was my first California burrito, which is only differentiated by fries, so I have nothing to compare it to. It's a decent size, filling, and has all the essentials. One of my favorite tacos spots! The Al pastor is so good here, love it in both burritos and tacos. The California burrito is also solid. For tacos I also like the carne asada, Baja fish taco, spicy shrimp and mushroom (surprisingly so flavorful!). For a Sunday at 1:30pm it was crazy crowded. Like no personal space type of crowded. People would stand next to you and hover waiting for a place to sit, so overly crowded. Very small location, and parking is tough to get with paid parking everywhere. I do love the salsa bar, with variety of salsa options. The mild avocado salsa is the best! Also jalapeños and pickled onions available. The carne asada burrito comes with meat, beans and salsa. It's been a minute since my last review, so I thought I would reiterate the rating. It is a taco stand, so let's not get carried away, but doing something simple well is something harder to find than it should be. This time I just had a pair of carbe asada tacos. They were a little small, a side dish or maybe a 3rd taco is needed for bigger appetites. The meat was good and tender, and it is served with a nice dollop of guac and some cilantro and onions, all on one of the fresh tortillas. Simple, but well done and tasty. read more

The Taco Stand originated in San Diego, and made its way to Orange County in 2019. This location is in the Orange Circle next to Snooze AM Eatery. I tried their Shrimp Burrito $10.50. The service was good and our food came out quickly. The only thing about the shrimp burrito is it did not come with any beans or rice, just shrimp and cabbage, but the chipotle sauce was good. I look forward to coming back and trying their variety of tacos and quesadillas. This place has a straightforward menu with good food. They also have a salsa bar with condiments for your food. Parking is on the street but I found some okay on a Monday night. Indie is decorated nicely, I like the retro casual feel with high ceilings. I ordered the California burrito & the pastor taco. I might just be a girl from the Midwest but this place has ruined all other tacos for me. Everything is made to order, including the freshly pressed buttery soft tortillas, so the line can extend out the door. During the weekends it's super busy, and seating can get *very* limited. Ambiance is casual and lively, lots of families and folks getting lunch while shopping or grabbing a weeknight dinner. I have not had anything else other than the tacos here, but I can and will speak for the tacos and I think they are truly some of the best around. I've tried the carne asada, al pastor, pollo asado, mushroom, and baja tacos and all are excellent. My personal favorites are the al pastor and mushroom. The al pastor has a slight crisp that is so satisfying and the textures are all *perfect* together. I love the unique mushroom one, it's a nice meatless option. The fresh churros are also not to be slept on, super warm and soft and served with condensed milk to dip in. Delicious. There's a self-serve salsa bar where you can try a variety of sauces from mild to spicy and get your own limes; I love the salsa verde and creamy cilantro salsa! The line moves slowly because the cups are small and there's only one bar, but you can stock up on your sauces while you wait for your order.
