Fantastic tacos! Birria was tender with flavorful consommé. Loved the sope too! Friendly service! We enjoyed the outdoor seating.

I came here recently for lunch with my mom. The place was super clean and had plenty of indoor seating space, outdoor seating available too for plaza. The restaurant was playing all the Mexican jams so it was vibe in there. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was hungry so I ordered chips and guacamole to share, very tasty and fresh. I had an al pastor torta that filled generously and after the guacamole, I only had half. Loved the torta, good balance of savory, heat, acidity. My mom had the tacos and loved them, total compliment cause she's picky. Overall good experience, fair prices, would definitely recommend.

First time here and definitely won't be my last! Stopped in for dinner with a friend on a random Tuesday evening. Wasn't even thinking about taco Tuesday but I love it when things just work out! The place is super clean and pretty big. Staff were all friendly and the food came out really quick. Even though it was taco Tuesday I opted for a taco bowl. It's exactly what you'd expect, a bowl with all the best fillings from a plate or a burrito. I got carne asada for the meat, it was cooked nicely with great flavor and a good crust. It came topped with freshly made tortilla strips and they were perfectly crunchy! It comes with a creamy cilantro crema which went so well with all the flavors. Seriously one of the better bowls I've had at a Mexican restaurant. There's a simple salsa bar with a few good choices of items. I will be back to try more of their meat options in bowl and taco form!

My daughter's fav hole in the wall Mexican by far. Not far from Foothill HS where she went to school. Cali burrito all day. Super quality and fast service makes this place a local gem. On the border of SA and Orange.

Every time we come here it doesn't disappoint. Price is not the cheapest but the quality of meat and portion is worth it. They also have taco Tuesday special, $2.49 each taco. Service is quick you can either order on the kiosk or with the cashier at the counter. Interior is spacious, there's also a salad bar you can get your own salsa. All in all we love this place!

Cabeza Taco / Birria Taco

Was still a bit hungry after eating at the mediocre sushi spot right next door so I decided to get a couple tacos at Taco Chico. Ordered a beef birria taco for myself and a cabeza taco for the lady. They were $3 each and the beef birria taco tasted bomb dot com! They serve chargrilled chili peppers with your taco and also got a full salsa bar for you to customize how you want it. The cashier was friendly and the place was very clean, granted we were the only customers inside at the time. Shoulda just ate at Taco Chico to begin with instead of sushi and we woulda been much happier. But we wouldn't have discovered Taco Chico if we didn't go eat that mid sushi next door so I guess there's a silver lining in everything. Looking forward to coming back really soon to try their other tacos and offerings.

Hidden Gem in Tustin: Modern Vibes, Authentic Flavor I came into this plaza for a massage next door and stumbled into Taco Chico by accident--but wow, what a happy surprise. From the outside, you'd never guess this place serves up authentic, flavorful Mexican food with a modern twist. The Vibe: Forget the usual hole-in-the-wall setup. Taco Chico is bright, spacious, and seriously clean, with a sleek, artsy design. There's a bold mural on the wall, a digital menu above the ordering station, and a spotless salsa bar where you can help yourself (YES to unlimited salsa). It feels like someone actually consulted a restaurant strategist--in the best way. The Crowd: I came on a Sunday around lunch and was pleasantly surprised--no lines, no chaos. Just a couple of tables ahead of me doing takeout. Super chill. The Food: Breakfast Burrito with Bacon - The star of the show. It was piping hot, the size of my forearm, and came packed with eggs, cheese, bacon and sausage (a surprise, but a tasty one). It also came with crispy tater tots, which I asked to have on the side--perfect for dipping into salsa while I waited. Street Tacos - I tried chicken and birria. The chicken could've been more tender, but the birria was juicy, marinated to perfection, and packed a ton of flavor. I'd definitely order it again. Pro Tips: * Eat inside if you can! The food cools down fast and it's best enjoyed hot off the grill. * Make use of the salsa bar--everything was super fresh and well-stocked. * Parking was a breeze. Final Thoughts: Taco Chico feels like a love letter to authentic Mexican food with Irvine-adjacent polish. The friendly staff (yes, fully Mexican-run kitchen), generous portions, and casual but curated setting make it a spot I'll bring my whole family back to. Next time, I'll be trying the aguas frescas or Jarritos drinks. Until then--this one's going into my weekend lunch rotation. (See photos for the taco+ menu + salsa bar setup!)

Taco Chico is a Mexican restaurant in Tustin inspired by Tijuana and Pueblo. Along with the normal taqueria menu, they also serve meat by the pound and do catering events too. You can either order at the counter or on their self-serve kiosk. I ordered the carne asada and pastor tacos ($2.95 each). I preferred the asada meat more but I liked the pastor taco more. The pastor taco had tons of pineapple on top and I liked the addition of the aioli. I also ordered the California burrito with asada ($14.25) and the loaded fries with pastor ($14.95). The burrito was creamy and I thought it was one of the better ones I've had in Orange County. The fries were crinkle cut which aren't my preferred but they were fine. The cotija cheese on the fries were uncommon but a nice addition. I liked that they had fresh ingredients like pico and aioli to help with the heavy of the fries, meat, and cheese. My only gripe is that the portions could've been bigger. They have a salsa bar on the side; they had pickled red onions which is unique and you don't always see that. They have plenty of tables if you want to dine in but most people were just getting their food to go.

Taco Al Pastor / marinated BBQ pork

Stopped by on a Tuesday evening around 6:00. We called ahead to order, and the food was ready when I arrived. They have a salsa bar with 3 different salsas, pickled onions, limes and radishes. I had the Al Pastor tacos which were filled pretty well and had a good amount of sauce on them. They also add pineapple on their al pastor which I have not had before, but the pineapple was super sweet and added a nice touch. Their al pastor is nicely charred, and the serving of meat is pretty generous. Will be coming back!

Came here with the wife earlier today as we were both craving tacos! Seemed like a spot with good reviews that was nearby our house. It was pretty affordable, close to $3 a taco but they packed the taco with meat. I ordered cabeza which was good, very tender. I also tried chicken asado, mainly tasted like marinated chicken breast. Wasn't as juicy as I had hoped. I also had a California burrito. It was alright, the carne asada didn't really hit. I just loaded carbs! My wife seemed the enjoy her Birria and her shrimp tacos. The shrimp taco was like what is going on! Lol so much sauce + toppings on it. The cashier had us try the horchata. One of the best horchata's I've had and it wasn't watered down. Decent spot, would I come back? Hmm maybe, maybe not.

Carna asada tacos and chips

A winner! $3 delicious tacos and $1.50 chips and salsa. Can't get better than this along with the courteous service and clean tables. Will come back for sure. Good work Taco Chico...

The food here is so worth it.. my new fave spot! We got six tacos (carne asada, suadero and buche) and carne asada nachos - all for around $33. The nachos were super delicious and different from other spots (like the cheese they use). The tacos were great too. I would get carne asada and suadero again. Similar to other places, there is a sauce bar with three different sauces and some toppings. There is lot of seating inside. It wasn't too busy on a Friday night so it was also quick to order/get food. There's a big parking lot in the plaza so that shouldn't be a problem either. Would definitely come back!

Pina Fresca

Dude..... so happy I stumbled upon this place. Specifically looking for taquitos and saw they had some. I ordered 3 taquito platter(loaded with crema, pico, lettuce, avocado) with a pina fresca and a carne asada mulita. As I was sitting I saw the chips go out to tables and they looked super fresh and crispy so I went back in line to order a side and their queso and chile. I ate the food so quickly, so no photos... but let me tell you it was delicious! The queso and chile chips were AMAZING starter and addition to the meal. (Medium spice not too bad) Their salsa bar was available to all and the green chile(mild) was amazing, literally want to go and buy a bottle. Reasonably priced, won't break the bank. Go try this when you're in the area!

Ask the Community - Taco Chico

Are breakfast foods served all day?

Do you do small group (8 people) catering? Do you have tacos de lengua?

We offer a variety of proteins; Lengua unfortunately is not one.

I want to know if I should come on Tuesday for a taco Tuesday special. Do they have one?

They do not have Taco Tuesday deals.

Is there a taco Tuesday special?

This place even open. Tried calling for 20 mins and no answer. Lol? Apparently the number listed to call to order is incorrect.

Went there on Father's Day, they were open.

*HALAL FRIENDLY*…read more Already planning my next visit! So so soooo good, great price points, excellent service, more than enough seating available indoors, and just a great experience overall. I ordered the crispy taco birria and quesa taco birria and both were 5/5 for sure. Next round I'm definitely getting at least 3 quesa taco birrias -- the sizes were honestly decent but it was so good I know I'll need at least three. I am also really excited to try the rest of the menu!!

The inside seats about 20 people or so, we were lucky enough to snag a booth. The line was pretty long but our tacos came out in a reasonable amount of time considering the number of people in the store. I got an incredible amount of cabeza, asada and pollo tacos. Cabeza was the clear best with asada in second. The pollo wasn't bad, just didn't compare to the others. Cabeza melts in your mouth and has excellent texture though the portion seems smaller than the other meats. We were told that there was no more green salsa which I was excited for, but right when we had finished devouring our tacos they brought out a fresh tray of verde which bummed me out a little. Tacos were delicious though, and at $1.50 a price for Taco Tuesday that's a great deal. I will definitely be back, hoping they have some verde ready to go next time.

We were able to find a small table, not too far from the front counter. Ordering at the front was easy. The staff was friendly and quick. We could see the cook grilling up the meats as we placed our order. There were at least five different salsas to choose from as well as cucumbers and a chili oil at the self-serve salsa bar. I noticed a customer in front of us ordered a kids plate which included two street tacos and rice and beans. That's what I ended up ordering with Carne Asada and chorizo. There were four or five proteins to choose from for the kids plate. I loved the grilled meats with the char flavor. It was delicious! Everything was well seasoned. I wish I would've ordered a third or maybe even a fourth taco because it was that good! I will definitely come back many times and it's going to be on our lunch rotation for sure.

Taco Gutierrez you have my whole heart!…read more After having moved to Santa Ana last year this has become my go-to spot for tacos close by. It's hard to find a good Taco Tuesday but they do a great job helping the community and keeping the prices $1.50 for basic meats like pollo, asada, and al pastor. I personally love my lengua and this truck has some of the best I've tried! It is a bit pricier but definitely worth it given the taste/quality. A couple things about the condiments--green sauce is spicier than you think, red one is more of a salsa and not that hot. Radishes are unfortunately not very crunchy/juicy at this location so I don't get it as often as I would at other taco spots. If you're ever in a rush, they do phone orders AND DoorDash. I've done all the methods and quality stays up there each time! However, if you do wanna enjoy your tacos right after they're prepared, you can always sit at their tables next to the truck. They have quite a bit of dining space and I've never seen it too crowded to the point of having difficulty finding a spot to sit. In terms of finding the truck, you just need to turn into S Hathaway St. Very close to the train tracks. I park in any free space they have there, since the businesses are usually closed after 5pm (which is when the truck opens).

I was disappointed, my mom paid so I had to pretend like it and eat it. I think the meat sits out all day and just gets reheated. The meat was old and tasted raw. We were stuffed and our meal was only $35! The brisket bowl was surprisingly good- 4.5 stars. It was nice and smoky, and came with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. We got the flour, but once I unwrapped it from the foil, it was quite dry. The al pastor taco was okay, but very dry- 2.5 stars. The asada taco was not bad- a little dry but flavorful- 3.5 stars. The fish taco was good but not crispy. I would get it again for Taco Tuesday, but Rubio's is much better. The best item was the FISH BURRITO- 5 stars. The fish was tender and the filling was seasoned perfectly, and the added guac gave it soo much FLAVOR! I've got to try their other burritos.
