Hole Mole! How have I never been here?! I think Rubio's is a little better, but they are much more expensive than Hole Mole... so the next time I have a craving for a taco or burrito, I'll go here instead. A few of my friends have been telling me about them for years. We placed our order online for pick up. Unfortunately, their tablet wasn't working properly. The manager came out and wrote our order down so we did have to wait about 10 minutes... but they did their best and we appreciated the excellent service. We ordered a BRISKET BOWL $10.29, al pastor taco $2.29, Ensenada fish taco $2.89, asada taco $2.50, FISH BURRITO $11.80 + 1.50 extra for guac ~$13.50, and French fries $3. We were stuffed and our meal was only $35! The brisket bowl was surprisingly good- 4.5 stars. It was nice and smoky, and came with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. We got the flour, but once I unwrapped it from the foil, it was quite dry. The al pastor taco was okay, but very dry- 2.5 stars. The asada taco was not bad- a little dry but flavorful- 3.5 stars. The fish taco was good but not crispy. I would get it again for Taco Tuesday, but Rubio's is much better. The best item was the FISH BURRITO- 5 stars. The fish was tender and the filling was seasoned perfectly, and the added guac gave it soo much FLAVOR! I've got to try their other burritos. We also got French fries and they were pretty good- 4 stars. Huge portion- probable enough for 3-4 people! We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture lol. Would get again. Heard that Hole Mole had good fish tacos, so we came on Taco Tuesday. Tacos are $1.39 (chicken) up to $1.99 (shrimp). I got a couple of Ensenada shrimp tacos, a Ensenada fish and a chicken taco. Unfortunately the batter on the shrimp and fish tacos was very thick. There are two shrimps in each taco and if you remove the breading, there's barely any filling. The chicken was fine - at least they were generous with the filling on that one. At least it was a cheap meal. My husband got a mole burrito which was on the small side. If you're looking for a belly-busting burrito, this is not it. There may have been a lot of deep fried batter on those shrimp and fish, but it was filling. On Tuesdays, you can get four tacos and be full for less than $10. read more

I highly recommend their tacos, the breakfast burritos do leave something to be desired. Today I had the ABC the avocado bacon and cheese burrito. While it was tasty it was mostly egg and cheese. Very light on the avocado and light on the bacon. There was a really good amount of cheese which is always yummy. Hole Mole is my go to Taco Tuesday spot when I am looking for an affordable and solid taco. I usually get the fish taco and they're just under $3 each which is a steal! The portion of fish is pretty large too. Last week I tried a carne asada taco but I would not recommend it, the pieces of asada were too large and chewy. It can get busy so I usually call in my order and it's usually ready in 10-15 minutes. The spot is small and there is only outside seating. Came here on a weekday afternoon and didn't have too much trouble finding parking. Seating is all outside, so be prepared for that if you're thinking about dining in. Fast and friendly service and prices are very decent. I tried the nachos, shrimp, and fish tacos. All very tasty. I liked how the batter on the fish was thin, but crunchy. The shrimp taco had a decent amount of shrimp on there, which I appreciate. The nachos were pretty standard, but great to share for the table. Nice assortment of toppings. Hole Mole is great. I'll try not to repeat what I've said before. Instead, I'll mention a few new to me things. * Brisket tacos. Yes, you read that right. They are terrific. They're a bit on the small side, so three of them should definitely fill you up. I got two, and it was enough food. * Micheladas. I watched the woman make mine. It was excellent. If they happen to be ought of Modelo Especial, Pacifico works well, too. They make them with tall boys, so be prepared for that. * Pleasant outdoor seating. I usually get my orders to go, but the weather was nice, and I decided "for here." It was nice and a perfect way to chill for a bit. The service is relatively fast with each order made to order. As I got the grilled shrimp and I was handed my plate, I looked at this white and tough material, which looked like chicken, which made it very curious. I came back to the kid that was ordering at the front. He told me that they don't have chicken, that this was their shrimp. Either I'm crazy, but this thing does not look like shrimp at all. Just by looking at this thing, it looked exactly like chicken. I posted pictures up. What do you think? I wasn't impressed by their grilled shrimp. This is my first review. I am ever leaving at a restaurant because I felt the need it had to be said I walked in right before the dinner rush-hour on a Monday. It was empty. I ordered a burrito combo to go. I was really friendly with the cashier older lady with glasses. I made some conversation with her since there was no one else around. I tipped well and waited for my food to to go once it was ready I looked in the bag. She offered me some salsa. I said one of each, please she gave me one of each. I asked for one more of the salsa that's usually eaten with chips, which is the tomato one and she said I cannot give you anymore. I've never been turned down from salsa from any restaurant, especially considering since the cups are so small I was a little upset since I did tip really well even though I was ordering a to go item I will never tip again, and I will advise everyone not to tip that was extremely disappointing. How stingy can you be for another small cup of salsa? other than that food is great. I will be going back for food, but that is the last time I will ever tip that place. read more

I was extremely satisfied after trying their fish tacos, brisket tacos with rice and beans!! The brisket was so tender a s packed with flavor. The fish taco was equally as good. My husband had to pick up a golf club at Roger Dunn yesterday and asked if I wanted to tag along and get lunch afterwards. We had planned to go to a Mexican restaurant nearby that we've been to several times. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed down. So, of course, I looked on yelp for suggestions. Hole Mole was just minutes away, so we decided to check it out. Sooo glad we did! The fish taco was to die for! I've eaten lots of fish tacos in my life (usually in Ensenada), and this fish taco was one of the best I've ever had! The crema was absolutely fantastic. The little crunchy tacos were surprisingly filling with all kinds of goodies. We had eaten a big breakfast so we weren't that hungry. We can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu. After eating at their location in Costa Mesa off of Harbor, I decided to give this location another try and just be more careful about what I order. I have gotten catering as well as just normal food from this location and everything has been outstanding - now that I stick to the fish tacos! My favorite item at Hole Mole are their fish tacos! They are the best! I like them better than Rubio's and Sharky's. Their other tacos (Carnitas, asada, etc.) are also very tasty but their fish tacos are the best! Their catering is great value with tons of delicious food for reasonable prices and I use their catering multiple times a year. This location parking can be a little tight but the food (especially the fish tacos) is well worth it! How can someone packing an order see literally 2 tacos and say "order complete" ? Don't even get me started on the customer service. Tonight was the last straw and you guys lost a customer for life. Stopped by for taco Tuesday today and we were greeted kindly and the boyfriend got 4 tacos : 1 shrimp, 1 fish, 1 carnitas and 1 brisket I got 3: 1 fish, 1 al pastor, 1 asada. They got my bfs order wrong and he didn't get his shrimp taco.. My asada and al pastor tacos were DRY, tasteless.. my bfs brisket tacos were so Smokey and dry. Gave this place a second chance after a year cause of the bad experience I had before. Came in with a fresh POV. This time was no different, if anything it was worse. Whoever was in charge of pick up orders was rude and gave off a real bad vibe. A customer right after me who appeared to have special needs grabbed his food with excitement only to have the employee roll her eyes at him. That was horrible. Food 5/5 Service 3/5 Customer experience 0/5 The boh are killing it. Leadership needs to have the foh retrained in customer experience. I can see from other reviews that there's a trend here. We had a craving for some good, not too overpriced, yummy Mexican food.....and happened to come across Holé Molé because it was close to where we were at. This place is pretty much a frestanding hole-in-the-wall "shack" located in a small strip center with very limited parking.....not the best looking premises as the buildings are quite old, not well maintained, and there was even a homeless guy just laying face down on the sidewalk outside the other shops/restaurants. Anyway, this place has a small interior where you place your order, pay for your order, then go straight iout to the outdoor patio to find a place to sit. Your order would then be brought out to you when ready. The service here is very good....the people are very nice, friendly, and helpful.....all the way from helping you choose what to order, to letting you sample some of their guac, to making sure your tableoutside is cleaned for you to enjoy your meal. So, my wife ordered the special Surf & Turf Taco Plate with 2 Baja Fish Tacos, 2 Smoked Brisket Tacos, Rice, Beans, and Yellow Chile. For me, I ordered my all time favorite Baja Burrito with hand-battered fried fish. According to my wife, the smoked brisket was "VERY GOOD," tender, juicy,, smoked perfectly, and she enjoyed it very much.....slightly on the salty side, but still very yummy. She she is not much of a fried fish taco person so she let me have them.....and yes, they were very good.....nice tender white fish fried with batter to a perfect golden brown and light crunch. Yea, the pieces of fish could have been bigger, but they still tasted yummy....especially when eaten with some of their different salsas available inside at a little self-serve salsa bar. As for my fried fish burrito.....I must say that the taste was really yummy! Everything tasted fresh, and it wasn't too salty. The problem I had with it was that when I cut my burrito in half to share with my wife, I couldn't see any fish in it, and with each bite, I could only taste the beans and rice. I think the pieces of battered fish need to be more prominent since it is the star of the burrito. Other than that, the tortilla as just perfect....it was moist with just the right thickness and springiness to it. All this went great with a side order of chips and guac. We really enjoyed this meal, and the prices were very resonable too.....much less than the $16-20 burritos that seem to be the going price these days. Best quick service taco tuesday deal around. The location is tough on parking and there's isn't indoor seating but there are tables outside. The tacos are taqueria size and the taco tuesday is the best deal you can find. The spicy red sauce is hot! We always opt for mild. Ask for lime to squeeze over their ensenada fish tacos!
