Walked in on a surprisingly busy Thursday evening for a late night dinner. You wait in line, order at the front, then receive a number and find a table. I ordered the cheeseburger, which I was disappointed by. The cheese tasted cheap, like Kraft slices. As a burger enthusiast, I was disappointed. I understand that smash burgers are purposefully greasy, but this was not what I was expecting. Came here for lunch with coworkers and had a lovely time! Such a cute vibe inside, and the girls that work here are sooo sweet and friendly. They made us feel super welcome and taken care of! I will say the lunch menu is a little small. I ordered the caesar salad with salmon and it did come out around 15 min after everyone else's meals, but a staff member did come out to let me know and apologized for it which was very nice! The salad was a bit overdressed for my taste but the dressing was super tasty and the salmon was cooked well. Tried Ahba for the first time recently and came for brunch. I love the vibes inside and on the patio, great ambiance for sure. The food came out fast and it was fire! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because parking is horrendous, and it is a bit more pricy for the portion sizes you get. This was my third time here, but the first time trying the food. On my previous visits I only stopped in for drinks while waiting for a table at Folks. Service was friendly, and I loved that they're dog friendly. The space is also much bigger than it looks from the outside, with a really cute ambiance. The only thing that threw me off was having to order before being seated. It gave more of a casual cafeteria or fast casual feel than a full service restaurant. I know that's becoming more common, but personally I enjoy the traditional restaurant experience of sitting down, looking over the menu, and ordering with my server. This was an overall confusing and disappointing experience. The concept itself is different than other restaurants where you order upfront with the hostess and seat yourself anywhere. I am not criticizing the concept itself because I've been to places that have done this casual dining concept before but the hostess seemed dismissive and inattentive to the fact we have never been here. She told us to sit ourselves which we did in the back patio. We then realized there were no waiters to serve us menus so we then walked all the way back to retrieve them. Once we decided what we wanted to eat, we once again walked all the way back to place our orders. It took a while to actually get settled. The back patio seating was awful because the tables were wobbly and the chairs were at all different heights. It felt like I was at a backyard cookout at someone's house. We switched to indoor seating shortly after. The food itself was good but not memorable. I've had better smash burgers, broccolini, fries, wings, and Caesar salads at other places. The best thing was probably the rigatoni which I'd rate a 8/10 while the others were probably a 6/10. There is an upstairs bar area which was very cute. However, when we tried placing our drinks orders to the bartender downstairs he said one of the drinks was only able to be ordered upstairs. When we proceeded to go upstairs, the bartender then said we couldn't bring the drink downstairs. As you can see, there was a lot of unnecessary walking throughout our experience. The service was nonexistent per its concept. But even with the little interactions we had with the staff, it seemed like they were very indifferent to the customers and very little guidance on where to go and what to do. If they improved on their service and were more service oriented I'd consider returning for the cute aesthetic. read more

Personally, it's one of those burgers I try and just forget about. I'm not sure what the rave is behind these burgers but there are other great burger spots in OC. What a cool place! Located at The Camp, parking can be brutal sometimes but it is what it is. We came to AhbA for lunch after hearing so many good things about it on social media, but unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing. We ordered a Caesar salad, a burger, and two drinks. Nothing was necessarily bad, but none of it stood out or felt worth raving about, especially considering the price. Our total came out to around $80, and the quality of the food and overall experience did not justify spending that much. The service also made the experience uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. There was no warm greeting, introduction, or explanation of how the restaurant worked. Since it was our first time, we had to awkwardly ask how ordering and seating worked, and the interaction still felt unwelcoming and dismissive. After ordering, we chose a table and briefly stepped away to look around. When we returned, our table number and waters had already been cleared. First things first, the hostess did not acknowledge our presence when we first arrived. When we did ask simple question regarding the menu, she did not have the answers. We were at the store at 12:40 on a Saturday afternoon and it's wasn't busy and she acted as if we were inconveniencing her by ordering. While we were paying, their card reader was not working and she was acting as though it was our fault. We told her it was not working, and she looked at us like we were incapable of tapping our card. After that, she did proceed to use a different card reader after we had stood there trying for a good minute. At these types of dinning places where it's not full service I will always tip to make sure BOH also gets something for the food. But the host auto selected zero tip, I think she knew what her attitude was like at work and took tip away from BOH and FOH, very disappointed. The food was very good, no complaints in terms of that. I had high hopes for Ahba, and while the food itself was good, everything else completely ruined the experience. The atmosphere is honestly unbearable it's so loud that trying to have a conversation is pointless. You'll literally lose your voice just trying to talk to the person next to you. On top of that, they charge for everything. Want extra sauce? Charged. Refills? Nope, also charged. Oh you want to pay with cash? They don't accept cash. Even basic things you'd expect to be complimentary just aren't. At one point, they were even out of free water, which is kind of ridiculous. This part was particularly difficult because we had a larger party of 6 and this place isn't very spacious. - chicken lollies ($15): 8.9/10. Yummy! Basically chicken skewers. These were seasoned well and extremely juicy and tender. The skewers were also huge and good to eat as an entree for one. - wings ($15): 6.9/10. Asian style wings. The wings were pretty small and basic. Nothing too special. Good for sharing as there's many pieces but I wouldn't order it again. - caesar salad ($17) and figs & burrata ($17): not a big fan of cheese/either of these dishes but my friends enjoyed these. - carrot cake ($8): 9.3/10. This was surprisingly delicious! HUGE slice of cake. I'd recommend sharing with the whole table. The only nice thing that I have to say was that the restaurant itself was visually appealing, it had a cute rustic vibe and the mismatched tables added a unique charm; however, that was the only positive aspect of my dining experience. From the beginning, our host/server Kaia was rude and dismissive. I understand having a bad or off day but her attitude was unprofessional and recognized by our whole party. When we sat at our table we were met with a cup full of dirty napkins. Waving down a server for basic needs (napkins, water) couldn't have been harder since they all just talked amongst themselves in the back corner neglecting their job. When we finally got our water, our waitress threw the jug down on the table as if we were inconveniencing her. My party of 5 also received our food all within 10-15 min increments of one another. Eventually when all our food arrived, my order was incorrect as well as bland, a sentiment felt across the table. Working in a restaurant my self I understand when mistakes happen in the kitchen, but given the fairly empty restaurant this was clearly a result of poor communication. Although I wish I could be leaving a kinder review, I do think that this place has great potential, as it's in a prime location. Wow. I can't believe it took me four years of living in Orange County to finally try AHBA. The Cesar Salad is unlike anything I've ever had. It's incredibly fresh, packed with flavor, and easily one of the best salads I've ever eaten. And the AHBA Burger was absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and without a doubt one of my new favorite burgers anywhere. What made the experience even better was our server, Lanaea. I love trying new restaurants, so we've had our fair share of dining experiences, and her service truly stood out. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel genuinely welcomed from start to finish. She anticipated everything we needed before we even had to ask, and her friendly personality made the entire meal that much more enjoyable. It's rare to leave a restaurant genuinely speechless, but AHBA did exactly that. Between the incredible food and the perfect outstanding service from Lanaea this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in Orange County.
