Stopped by on a Wednesday and had an absolute blast. The cocktails (around $16) were all on point, the bartender absolutely nailed every drink. My favorites were the Te Culpo with tahine rim, margarita, and saddle up (elite espresso martini, best I've had in a while). Obsessed is an understatement. The burger might be one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The lamb pita was good, great tzatziki & loved the cucumbers, dill, etc. but the burger was the star of the show. another friend got their breakfast sandwich and we loved all of it. It's a big open space concept restaurant with different seating areas both inside and out. You order at the front with the hostess first, get a number, and basically pick to sit anywhere you like. It's dog friendly, you can find a nook for your party, and there are different seating options all over the place from being at the bar, to standard tables, benches, coffee tables, and high tables. My friends and I (about 10 of us who slowly came trickling in) managed to snatch a wide wooden outdoor booth right at the entrance. I ordered what I believe were chickens skewers with a type of blue cheese ranch dressing that was so delicious, and some type of spritzer that was very strong. I personally couldn't finish it since I had a long day of hopping from spot to spot already, but it was still pretty good. It is interesting that they have you order at the host stand and then find a table. It seemed a bit strange, because it really seemed like a sit down place. This was mildly off-putting because as a first timer, I had no clue what I wanted and needed to take a little time with the menu. Our service was great. The food for me was just ok. We ordered an appetizer, 2 non-alcoholic drinks and 3 meals and it came out to $95. That's a lot for an order at the front type of place. I got the Caesar salad and for me it was not my favorite. It looks good in concept, but wow- the burnt broccolini was served cold but also spicey af, hummus has weird and extra sweet date paste on it plus some other overly lemony stuff on top and drinks were small pours and everything was counter service (including pour your own water service) and for 2 apps, a beer and a glass of wine we paid $65. I've only ordered the smashburger so far, but I have done so several times, and each time Ahba just hits, if you're in the mood for a slightly elevated smashburger. Not exactly in-n-out (which produces, as we all know, the OG smashburger) prices, but I suppose $20 burger is justified on occasion due to the addition of the delicious homemade aioli and thyme fries. Both the CM and Laguna locations feature a cute, homey ambiance with mismatched vintage furniture. The CM location is tucked away in the Lab, while the Laguna location is a little more easily found, along a stretch of the PCH in SoLag. Will return in the future to try other items on the menu! I decided to try AhbA because I heard it was very popular. I ended up getting the pita sandwhich with lamb and it was delicious, although a tad pricy. I was a bit confused when I was charged an extra $2 for the lamb on it as it did not say there was an additional charge on the menu. When we visited they were hosting a private party on the rooftop so unfortunately we weren't able to see it but will definitely be back another time for that! The girl at the kiosk did notttt know what she was doing :( I asked her about their happy hour prices and she said someone had just taken all of the menus so she was listing options off the top of her head. She mentioned a purple lemonade, but couldn't remember what was in the lemonade.
