I tried AhbA for the first time for a lunch meeting. The atmosphere and decor are great! I like their inside or patio seating and they even have a beautiful bar. It is interesting that they have you order at the host stand and then find a table. It seemed a bit strange, because it really seemed like a sit down place. This was mildly off-putting because as a first timer, I had no clue what I wanted and needed to take a little time with the menu. Our service was great. The food for me was just ok. We ordered an appetizer, 2 non-alcoholic drinks and 3 meals and it came out to $95. That's a lot for an order at the front type of place. I got the Caesar salad and for me it was not my favorite. I've only ordered the smashburger so far, but I have done so several times, and each time Ahba just hits, if you're in the mood for a slightly elevated smashburger. Not exactly in-n-out (which produces, as we all know, the OG smashburger) prices, but I suppose $20 burger is justified on occasion due to the addition of the delicious homemade aioli and thyme fries. Both the CM and Laguna locations feature a cute, homey ambiance with mismatched vintage furniture. The CM location is tucked away in the Lab, while the Laguna location is a little more easily found, along a stretch of the PCH in SoLag. Will return in the future to try other items on the menu! Coming on here and to see there was already a review about yesterday says a lot. Clearly my table wasn't the only once that received poor service and a bad overall experience. I wanted to try AhBa out, as I've always noticed a long line getting into the restaurant and I figured it must be good. The concept of the restaurant is that you order at the door and then find a seat inside, as it's open seating. When it was our turn, we went ahead and ordered our food and drinks, already leaving tip at time of payment, expecting the service to reflect that. Clearly our mistake for assuming. We took a seat and waited a while before we got one out of the 4 drinks we ordered at the door. It took maybe 10 minutes to get the second drink we ordered. We later got the first order of food and then waited 20 minutes before we got the second order of food. During this time we were looking around for water since we noticed other tables had water carafes on their tables. We asked a runner (since there's technically no servers) for water and with an attitude told us that she would get it for us. We were still currently waiting for the other two drinks and they hadn't arrived and we were practically already finished with our meal. We had to flag down yet another runner to get our drinks. Everyone looked annoyed that they were there to work. They had bad attitudes. You can visibly see that they were bothered to be working that day. The food was okay. Exceptional dressing and flavors! The burger was so good and had a little kick to it because of the peppers in it! We preferred the garlic fries over the spicy ones. My husband and I attended the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Orange County this past Saturday. The event itself was absolutely amazing and supports an incredibly important cause, raising awareness for men's health alongside riders in over 100 countries around the world. Unfortunately, our experience with the food vendor was extremely disappointing. A female employee working the booth was unnecessarily rude to us while we were trying to order. Her attitude was so noticeably poor that the people we were with, as well as others standing in line, could not believe how she was speaking to customers.
