4 1/2 stars. It's been a long time since I dined at Shake Shack. So I was looking forward to eating here since it's fairly nearby home. Parking is convenient since it's located at a large strip center with many food options. I downloaded the phone app and it's easy to navigate and they discount prices on fries, shakes and sodas. As for the burgers and chicken sammies, I'm a fan since they use Angus beef, potato buns and the quality of ingredients are superior compared to their competitor's. The service here is outstanding. The friendly employees follow up, offer to refill your drinks and even offer to take your trash - whether I'm dining inside or on the large community patio. I discovered that Shake Shack is opening everywhere in So. Ca so I'll definitely be returning to another Shake Shack. read more

Me and my pickleball buddy decides to grab lunch at shake shack of Brea to try their k-shack bbq burger. The burger joint is pretty good size, super clean, and modern. They do have restrooms, no drive thru. They shared the huge parking with all other shops at The plaza. Service is very friendly! They made suggestions of using shake shack app to get deals like $1 soft drink. They do not put soft drink fountain outside, but they come around to ask if you need refill or you can go to counter to request refills. We order two k-shack bbq burger. The tastes of ingredients are great, fresh. The k-shack bbq sauce in the burger is way too salty - it's like you add soy sauce to sesame bbq sauce. Kind of weird. (A made-to-order quarter-pound* per patty of 100% Angus beef topped with American cheese, crispy sweet onions, fresh scallions, and a savory Korean BBQ sauce on a toasted potato bun. (Contains: Milk, Egg, Wheat, Soy, ) I rate this a 3 star because of the taste is so strange. My first time at the Brea location! I enjoy burgers from time to time and wanted something quick in between my errands. Shake Shack hit the spot. The service was great - the lady who took my order was approachable and welcoming. The ambiance was busy but not chaotic for a Saturday. I enjoyed my solo lunch and everything tasted fresh, the bun is super soft but not big enough for the patty LOL and I love that they have a simple menu with some seasonal delights. Unsure if ownership or internal control has changed, but the quality of burgers were a bit disappointing. Before this place opened, we would visit the Shake Shacks in LA, which hit expectations every single time. However, the food we had at this location really lacked both in taste and quality, esp for the price! The burgers didn't have the usual rich umami flavors AND it was cold when it arrived to our table. You can make a better burger at home... The cheesy fries barely had cheese! Might as well have ordered plain fries. Don't think we'll be returning anytime, unless burgers match the quality they're known for. It featured an artificial-tasting BBQ sauce with a spicy kick, and I found it to be a bit too salty. It seemed like they put way too much sauce on it relative to the size of the chicken (to the point that the burger was soggy and dripping with it). The chicken patty was small, with coleslaw added, but it was not nearly enough to balance out the sauce's flavor. Whether the blame goes on the person who designed the BBQ sauce or the person who assembled the burger, I'm not sure, but for a $15 burger, it's...something. read more

Shake Shack has been growing on me over time. About 10 years ago I had it for the first time in Chicago and was underwhelmed, but I periodically check in and find that food quality is high and that often I am just ordering the wrong food for my mood. Service is always prompt and polite, tables are clean, and ordering is pretty simple. On this occasion I was here to get a Chicken Shack. It was solid 4-stars, a good balance of healthy and crunchy (not too much fried breading). I do think it needs slightly more sauce than just the herb mayo and ketchup was an easy addition. I could see a bbq going well too. I did hold the pickles, but I don't think that alone would elevate to a 5-star sandwich. The hot dog is simple, add some ketchup and then any kid is happy, a consistent option. The Parmesan Garlic Fries were something that sounds delicious in theory but I found too salty from the roasted garlic Parmesan aioli dipping sauce. Garlic in the fries, easy to do and makes it smell nice. Could grated Parmesan be added on top? I would think so. But the sauce was too salty, so I instead opted for dipping in ketchup and that worked fine. Next time I'll just skip the sauce and ask for extra garlic (if possible). read more

I was at the Ralph's Grocery in the same shopping center picking up salad. I drove over and didn't even try parking close to Shake Shack, forget it. I parked near the bank and luckily a car was leaving. Be careful walking through the parking lot. There's no crosswalk and so you're in the drive aisle until you reach the sidewalk. I walked inside the store. They posted a sign on the entrance door warning one of the doors was broken (no door handle). I used the men's room before picking up my order. It was a clean facility. I walked back to the order counter and the female employee helped me. The order was ready and bagged. Only okay, not perfect. Why bother checking the box on the app for napkins and utensils? Or asking for sauce on the side? These minor items matter and were missed. Not a huge issue as I was asked at the counter if I wanted ketchup and napkins... Went to Shake Shack on recommendation and would say it's just ok. I ordered a mushroom burger and my husband ordered a burger with bacon and some fries. We both did not like the fries at all. They were lukewarm on the outside and not cooked enough on the inside. The burgers were just ok as the patties severely lacked seasoning. The service was the best part of this experience. Although we ordered on a kiosk the workers were friendly and available to answer our questions. The Brea location was very clean and spacious. This is my second time dining at Shake Shack but my first time in this location. This establishment is clean, well lit and spacious. Staffs were nice and friendly. Orders can be done via kiosk. I mean--on one hand it's Shake Shack. We've all been there by now. But, on the other, this is the closest one I've ever had to where I live. This isn't one that just happens to be where I'm going to be for the day or one that happens to be where I'm vacationing. This is one that is like 10-15 minutes from me. And, no, it's not In-N-Out or Nice Guys, but I like the food here--even if it's vastly over-priced and only above-average food. That's still better than a lot of sub-average burger joints and it's not like I'll be eating here in a regular rotation. I just like the option and I think their shakes are still the best thing about them. Their shakes kill. They'd be my number one fast food shake place if they just had an everyday coffee shake on the menu. This one seems to have a huge dining room and patios, which I like. A lot of Shacks have the dining space of a pantry and it really makes me hate dining in at them, which is 90% of how I eat all dinners. All in all, I'd give them a 7 out of 10, mostly from convenience and room to dine in at as I'd give more Shake Shacks a 5 out of 10. They had a good beefy flavor, but I swear I remember there being seasoning the first time. Someone else also left the same type of comment on 28Dec25. Took a little too long for them to find us outside, therefore our food was a little colder than when we got it quickly sitting inside. We were missing an extra patty but it was taken care of right away without any hassle. Even though I didn't print out the receipt. Inconsistency (2 out of 3 times lacking seasoning) combined with pricing, there are better options for us. Probably won't be back for a while while they get it sorted. :-( read more

I think you get far less full with the fries and drink. It's a lot of black truffle and cheese for the double. The single patty was perfect size for me and delicious too. I know lots of people have complained about how small the burgers are, but all smash burgers are small because the potato buns are made smaller than the average hamburger bun. BLACK TRUFFLE PARMESAN FRIES The fries were lukewarm to cold. Not sure why it was just sitting there and not being served right away. Should have been served right out of the fryer. I saw many workers there, yet not one was wiping down the tables! One even saw me wipe down the table I was gonna sit down in, but just looked at me and didn't bother to do anything further. BATHROOM - The women's bathroom had 3 stalls and 1 sink. The sink countertop had a pool of water that was not cleaned up. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good customer service and everyone is nice and smiling. I asked the front register about the black truffle burger's last day on the menu and three people helped out to answer my question, so that was nice! LOCATION - Between Starbucks, Cava and Nékter Juice Bar. It's a prime location! So many people coming through the doors! Stores around it - Katsu Bar, Tous Les Jours, Panda Express, Home Goods, World Market, Ralphs, Wells Fargo, Baskin Robbins, Bread Breakers Deli House, Maui Hawaiian BBQ. So there's lots of places to visit at the Brea Gateway Center. PARKING Parking lot is large, yet it's still not large enough to find a parking spot when you get there. Happy New Year's Day lunch with my family. Was a nice day for a ride so we road down here and got a seats outside. We ordered the shake shack burgers, I wanted the truffle fries again, baby girl a cookies n cream shake and regular fries and a Dr. Pepper. Perfect meal for today, it was quite busy of course but still got our food pretty quickly. The employees are all so friendly here. So nice to sit outside and eat and enjoy the gorgeous day for the first day of 2025. They have self order stations or you can speak with a person at the counter. There's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. My only complaint was the male worker who approached us. He came off very uninterested and fake. He told us if we scanned our receipt and wrote a good review and dropped his name he'd give us free fries. Since I had a giftcard I ordered at the counter and received great service. The seating area is big and offer high top and low top tables . Shake Shack fan here, as they've elevated the burger game and have a distinct offering from its rivals. The taste to me is like fancy backyard smash burgers with fresh ingredients, brioche bun, and a burger where you can really taste the meat. Aside from the shack burgers, the shroom burgers are surprisingly tasty as well (when you bite you get a nice cheese pull). Prices are a bit scary and always have been- but lookout for BOGO coupons online before you go. It makes meals here a bit more palatable. The Brea location does offer a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, but the seating and parking situation can get quite squirly during peak times- so plan accordingly. read more
